Kevin Randle was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, grew up in Denver, Colorado and entered the Army in Texas. He learned to fly helicopters, had a tour in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot and then left active duty for college. He attended the University of Iowa and upon graduation was commissioned into the Air Force Reserve. Randle spent most of his Air Force career as an intelligence officer. In 1986, he was released into the inactive reserve. Randle became interested in UFOs as a teenager and continued his studies after joining the Army. He served as a field investigator for APRO, was one of the first to investigate cattle mutilations and was the first to report an alien abduction from inside a home. His most important work has been in the Roswell UFO crash case. With Don Schmitt he wrote UFO CRASH AT ROSWELL and THE TRUTH ABOUT THE UFO CRASH AT ROSWELL. He has also written THE ROSWELL ENCYCLOPEDIA. His other UFO books included PROJECT BLUEBOOK EXPOSED, A HISTORY OF UFO CRASHES, SCIENTIFIC UFOLOGY and THE ABDUCTION ENIGMA. Morgellons disease is right out of science-fiction novels in that the symptoms are certainly not ordinary. The victims report strange animal-like and other forms exiting their skin, usually accompanied by lesions covering many parts of their bodies. Most victims report 'brain fog', chronic fatigue, severe depression, deep pain in their joints, loss of hair and nails and in some cases a strong urge to commit suicide. There are a host of other debilitating physical and psychological symptoms as well. Mr. Mickelson, himself a Morgellons victim for over 8 years, has methodically investigated Morgellons disease and has concluded that the possibility exists that there may be links to unintended consequences of genetically modified agricultural experiments gone bad or to deliberate or accidental releases of GMO weaponization programs. UFOs and the Media - Lee Speigel has been interested in the idea of UFOs, aliens, living dinosaurs and the whole range of topics that often overlap the worlds of science and unexplained phenomena since he was a young boy. His first foray into the pursuit and investigation of these topics was in 1975 when he produced and wrote a documentary record album, "UFOs: The Credibility Factor," for CBS Inc. It marked the first time that military and scientific voices came together to disclose their personal UFO encounters and to call for government recognition of the phenomenon. In 1978, in another early attempt at UFO disclosure, but this time on a world stage, Speigel became the only person in history to produce a major presentation on UFOs at the United Nations. Under the sponsorship of Grenada, he brought together leading military and scientific experts who urged world leaders to establish an international UFO study panel. Between 1978 and 1986, Speigel produced, wrote and hosted NBC Radio's "UFO Reports," "Unexplained Phenomena" and "The Edge of Reality" (nearly 1500 local and national programs, spanning eight years.) 1978 was also important as Speigel became one of the first media personalities -- through his NBC Radio features — to bring public awareness of the now-legendary 1947 Roswell, NM, UFO crash; through the efforts of nuclear physicist Stanton Friedman, Speigel produced a weeklong series of radio reports that featured exclusive interviews with military personnel who were directly involved with the initial Roswell cover-up. Within the same time period as his NBC experience, Speigel was also a feature writer for OMNI magazine, including several cover stories about UFOs and cryptozoology. In 1993, he produced and wrote "Lincoln's Music In America: The Classics In Space," a national award-winning classical music special focusing on the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. Broadcast over the Concert Music Network, the show was co-hosted by Dr. Frank Drake, founder of the SETI Institute, and is in the permanent collection of the Paley Center for Media in New York City. Between 2007 and 2009, while on staff at ABCNews.com, Speigel wrote feature stories about the Roswell, NM, UFO legend, looking for life in meteorites and the controversial practice of firewalking. Fractured Spirits: Hauntings at the Peoria State Hospital - Sylvia Shults has been a paranormal investigator for several years. She began her career as a ghost hunter as a result of doing the research for her nonfiction book Ghosts of the Illinois River (Quixote Press, 2010). Her fascination with ghosts dates back to her childhood, as she is an avid reader who was raised on Grimm's Fairy Tales. A few years ago, Shults was inspired to write a collection of people's supernatural experiences at the Peo- ria State Hospital in Bartonville, Illinois. This project quickly swelled into Fractured Spirits: Hauntings at the Peoria State Hospital. The book incorporates the history of the asylum as well as the many ghost stories that have arisen out of the asylum's abandonment. In an effort to separate fact from fiction, Shults thoroughly explores the true history of the hospital. "It's fascinating," she says. "The Peoria State Hospital was a place of great advances in mental health care. Was there agony there? I don't doubt it. Mental illness is an agonizing thing. So is alcoholism. So is TB. But that's not nearly the whole story of this remarkable institution. There was also incredible tenderness and car- ing. Dr. George Zeller was responsible for unprecedented reforms in the field of mental health care. I feel incredi- bly fortunate to have been able to write a book that not only tells some really unnerving ghost tales, but also the true stories of Dr. Zeller and his dedicated staff." Fractured Spirits: Hauntings at the Peoria State Hospital is a result of years of research. Shults spoke to dozens of people who have had paranormal experiences at the abandoned asylum. She has also done many inves- tigations of her own. The book, and Shults' research, was featured on an episode of Ghost Hunters ("Prescription for Fear", which aired January 30, 2013).Shults lives in Illinois with her husband. She works at the Fondulac District Library, mostly in order to feed her book addiction. She also serves as the Publicity Director for Dark Continents Publishing. A woman was recently sentenced to 140 years in prison after using two Nigerian immigrants as personal unpaid servants in her luxury home in Atlanta, Georgia. A few days later, two Ukrainian brothers were convicted of smuggling desperate villagers into the United States to work long hours, cleaning retail stores and office buildings at little or no pay. The prosecuting U.S. attorney in Philadelphia, Daniel Velez, said it was "modern-day slavery. It's hiding in plain sight." However, according to a woman who lived through the racial prejudice, segregation and slavery in post World War II Europe, the slavery crisis in the modern world is far greater than that. "Anyone who thinks slavery died when America abolished it in the 1800s has a shock coming to them," said Lucia Mann, whose mother was a sex slave and a WWII concentration camp survivor. Mann, a former journalist and author of Rented Silence (www.luciamann.com), a novel about slavery and racial prejudice based on her life experiences and those of other persecuted souls she witnessed says, "According to the United Nations, there are more than 27 million slaves worldwide, which are more than twice the number of those who were enslaved over the 400 years that transatlantic slavers trafficked humans to work in the Americas. Digital Terrorism - 'A gang of Russian hackers has amassed over 1 billion username and password combinations and more than 500 million email addresses, a security firm reported late Tuesday, calling it the largest-ever haul of stolen Internet credentials. The massive trove - stolen from hundreds of thousands of websites - was discovered by the Milwaukee firm Hold Security, according to a post on its website. According to the post, it took more than seven months of research to identify the gang, whom the firm dubbed CyberVor, or cyber-thief in Russian. Intrusions against large retail or other chains designed to steal payment card information or other personal data en masse have multiplied in recent months. Most famously, retail giant Target was hit over the holidays last year, and 40 million payment card numbers were stolen. Many of the hacker gangs behind these attacks are based in Russia and Eastern Europe, which have grown into global centers of cybercrime while Russian officials have largely turned a blind eye. The U.S. has ramped up extraditions and prosecutions of Russian cyber criminals, but that has not stemmed the tide.
