On this episode of the Friends in Beauty podcast I welcome Milan Junchalearn to the Friends in Beauty guest chair. Here are two truths: there are no hair stylists out there quite like Milan Junchalearn and there are very few salons that can compete with hers. She's a self-taught stylist whose first booth was a bathroom stall at the Fashion Institute in NYC back in the '90s. Now, she's the owner of Chi Bella Hair Studio Inc., a 5000-square-foot luxury salon located in Bowie, Maryland, specializing in hair growth and restoration. “No one touches us,” she states confidently.   As the boss lady of Chi Bella Hair Studio, Inc., her passion reflects in the care she and other stylists provide at the salon. Over the years, it's become a safe haven for Alopecia clients and the go-to for hair growth. Her services include everything from one-on-one consultations and protective hairstyles to micro-links and coloring, and she even has her own hand crafted hair care line called Promise Kept that's loved by clients near and far for its power to heal, hydrate, and condition. She's three decades in the game, and remains ahead of the curve in hair trends, techniques, innovations, and products that make a difference to her clients.   A conversation could go on for hours if you ever talk to her about hair. Her mission is to educate women on the beauty and versatility that rests in their crown and teach them all they need to know about hair growth and maintenance. If you ever talk to her about life, you'll immediately hear her passion for helping women transform, often using her own story of stuckness and loss as a testimony.   As a mother of four, Milan knows what it's like to balance work-life and motherhood. Luckily, her children are part of a growing list of supporters who truly believe in her dream of growing Chi Bella Hair Studios into the ultimate empire. Locations around the world, hair tools, workshops, a mobile salon – those are just a few of her plans.   Grow with her as her vision becomes reality.   Enjoy this episode!!   Leave us a 5 star review and share this episode with a friend or 2 or 3. info@friendsinbeauty.com ENROLLMENT OPEN - TRAILBLAZERS CLUB MEMBERSHIP https://bit.ly/FIBTrailblazersClub   ADVERTISE YOUR BUSINESS OF THE PODCAST https://www.friendsinbeauty.com/advertise   ENROLL IN D.I.Y PODCASTER COURSE TODAY:  bit.ly/DIYPodcasterCourse   JOIN PATREON TO SUPPORT THE FRIENDS IN BEAUTY PODCAST https://www.patreon.com/friendsinbeauty   FRIENDS IN BEAUTY FACEBOOK COMMUNITY www.facebook.com/groups/friendsinbeauty   FOLLOW FRIENDS IN BEAUTY ON IG  www.instagram.com/friendsinbeauty   SUBSCRIBE TO YOUTUBE CHANNEL bit.ly/FIBTube Additional Resources:   -https://www.amazon.com/shop/akuarobinson   -Skillshare - Use this link for 2 months free of the premium plan: https://skl.sh/30t352q   -Shop Mented Cosmetics - https://www.mentedcosmetics.com/?rfsn=1290937.f2481  Use Code “AKUAROBINSON” for 10% of your purchase  Announcements:   We're on Apple Podcasts - www.bit.ly/FIBPodItunes!   Join our Facebook community…   If  you're looking for a community of like minded, ambitious, and supportive #FriendsinBeauty  all working to leave our mark on the beauty industry, join us here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/friendsinbeauty Join the Friends in Beauty Mailing List: www.bit.ly/FIBTribe Social Media Info: Chi Bella (Instagram) - chibellahair Friends in Beauty (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) - @friendsinbeauty Friends in Beauty (YouTube) - Friends in Beauty  Akua Robinson (Instagram,Twitter) - @akuarobinson AkuaRobinson (Facebook) - Akua Robinson MUA Akua Robinson (Website) - www.akuarobinson.com

Hi listeners! Welcome to another episode of the Be You Brand podcast. Today, I am joined by Tannya Bernadette to talk about the importance of personal style and how it can impact one's confidence, brand representation, and overall well-being. She delves into the significance of intentional dressing, understanding and embracing one's body, expressing individuality through clothing, and the psychological effects of feeling confident in what you wear. She also touches on the role of a stylist in guiding individuals to align their clothing choices with their goals, brand image, and personal preferences. She shares tips on how to incorporate modern styles into a more feminine look without losing the feminine element. Additionally, there is a focus on the idea that style is not just about following trends but about creating a wardrobe that reflects one's authentic self. The conversation encourages listeners to be intentional, open-minded, and willing to invest in pieces that make them feel empowered and confident.   “So it's really identifying what you feel really good about your body and you don't care about showing off and the parts that you feel a little bit more insecure about so you want to make sure that you find the pieces that work well for you.”- Tannya Bernadette   Here are the key takeaways: Being intentional with your clothing choices is crucial. Consider how you want to look and feel, and use this as a guide when shopping. Your clothing choices can significantly impact your confidence and how you present yourself. When you feel good in what you're wearing, your energy becomes contagious, and you attract like-minded individuals. Your personal brand should be reflected in your clothing choices. Consider colors, styles, and elements that represent your brand and make you easily recognizable. Focus on what makes you feel good rather than adhering strictly to conventional body type rules. Embrace the parts of your body that you feel confident about and choose clothing that highlights those features. Stay open-minded when shopping, but also have a clear list of a few items you're looking for. Don't settle for something that doesn't align with your style or make you feel confident.   About the Guest: In 2009, Master Stylist, Tannya Bernadette launched a business dedicated to empowering busy women to shop with ease and intention. The power in her work as a personal stylist comes from understanding her clients goals to help them build a full wardrobe of outfits that match their body, life, and how they want to show up. Aside from hosting The Closet Edit podcast, Tannya has been featured on and partnered with Seattle's Top Dating Photographer, NW Mom Magazine, Simply Matchmaking, Seattle Magazine, Q13, King 5 News, K &L Gates, Vince, Alice + Olivia, and more.     Take the profitable personal brand quiz  https://atigrinspun.com/quiz/   Connect with me:   Website: https://atigrinspun.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ati.g.branding/ Personal branding strategies for female entry community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/personalbrandingforwomenpreneurs/?ref=share_group_link Listen to the Podcast: Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/be-you-brand-the-podcast/id1702445059 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3bJemVrhEHURh8j47EDdu5 Castbox: https://castbox.fm/channel/id5553172?utm_source=podcaster&utm_medium=dlink&utm_campaign=c_5553172&utm_content=Be%20you%20Brand%20-%20The%20Podcast-CastBox_FM Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/show/1077570 Pandora: https://www.pandora.com/podcast/be-you-brand-the-podcast/PC:1001077570 Google Podcast: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5saWJzeW4uY29tLzQ2OTg0NS9yc3M Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/d658d07f-76e6-427e-aeec-72928dc4b756/be-you-brand-the-podcast

After 2 years of working at the salon on hourly wages, Crystal went to a booth rental.-- The biggest struggle Crystal overcame in building her business(es) is social media. Now there are tons of courses and podcasts where people discuss and teach so many different things that you can just google: "how to..."-- CUSTOMER SERVICE & EXPERIENCE:greet every single client the same way to ensure consistencynever let a client go unattended at the desk and welcome & acknowledge clients as soon as they enter your spaceclients need to feel like they come first, not usboundaries are important, but they are not necessarily something that you need to post about and/or signal to clients that they need to respect your boundaries...this can come off as egocentric or you having a bad attitudedo not push clients away; you are here to serve. If you do not accept this reality of service, you will have a hard time being successful long termask your clients what they like AND what they don't like about their previous service and remove your EGO so that you can better serve your clients-- Our business is like a membership...you want recurring business, not a constant flow of new clients-- Clear communication throughout the entire service about what you are doing and managing expectations. This will enable you to charge the customer to change their hair if they decide they don't like what they asked for...messing up someone's hair and not delivering what you promised means you have to pay to fix it.

On this episode, I had the privilege of chatting with the dynamic Berlin Fisher – Master Stylist, NBC California Live Beauty Expert Contributor and “The Bad Boy of Beauty.” Some of the core topics we discuss in this episode are: Personal Growth and Self-Reflection Teachable Moments and Open Dialogues Pursuing Artistic Dreams Importance of Personal Care Power of Sobriety Berlin captivates with his life story. He shares his journey that involves overcoming personal struggles, fighting against societal norms, and going after his artistic dreams despite the odds. He also discusses how his sobriety has been pivotal in reshaping his life and his approach to creativity. One of my favorite moments from this Real Talk is Berlin's concept of “Surrender to win.” He explains the importance of “laying down the sword” – letting go of the need to fight and instead embracing acceptance and openness. This kind of surrender can lead to personal victories, and ultimately, impactful growth. If you're a creative go-getter who has encountered tough challenges along the way of pursuing your heart's calling, then you'll find this episode incredibly encouraging! Berlin's wisdom on self-development and paving our own paths is inspiring, and can be applied to our lives. With so much love & gratitude, Grace

Walking through seasons of uncertainty can be challenging. It might seem like nothing is changing. You may be feeling like you're never going to get to a place of being whole and complete but the truth is you're already there. You just haven't tapped far enough into reality to realize and accept God has already finished his good and perfect work in you. Understand you're living out your life story but it's already pre-written and only God knows the ending to it. You are right where God wants you. You are broken but you are not destroyed! Decree and declare victory. Believe in what you can't see. Speak life over yourself even when darkness is all around you and you feel like you're dying inside. Death has to occur for new life to spring forth. The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 9:11, “I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn't always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn't always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don't always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.” Sometimes we have to revisit dry places to break the fallow ground in our hearts. God has to unveil what's hidden underneath and lying dormant in our spirits. Exposure gives us an opportunity to gain wisdom and find understanding. God is resurrecting every dead thing in your life to expose the spoiled and rotten areas so he can reconstruct that part of your life. More importantly, he's exposing the truth to show you yourself as well as the people around you. The Lord desires to heal and make you whole again from the inside out. It's dark right now but God is going to raise you up. You're going to shine brighter than you ever have before. Don't give up, you got this! God has you in the palm of his hands. Jesus loves you and there's nothing anyone can do to stop or change it. Victory is yours and grater blessings are being bestowed upon you through your uncertain season. I had the honor and pleasure of of speaking with Ms. Danesha Rose tonight. She is a phenomenal woman of God whom is anointed and doing great work in the kingdom. She is the owner and Master Stylist at D'Rose Affect. We discussed how she prevailed through her uncertain season, some of the hidden secrets stylist face in the hair industry, faith and love. How we feel about our hair has enormous power over how we feel about ourselves. #preach Our hair thins for various reasons throughout our lives, but menopause can trigger it big time. I wanted answers to questions like:             What can we do to break the cycle?             Is coloring our hair really all that bad for us?             How do we nourish what we've got so it looks fabulous? My guest, Natalie Palamino, answered those questions and more. Natalie is a Master Stylist, Clean Hair Care Expert and Founder of North Authentic, a conscious hair care company. She used her B.S. in Finance, JD/MA, and 12 years behind the chair as a hairstylist, hair salon owner and educator focused on clean products to start her company, North Authentic. Why start an online company when life as a stylist is good? She was diagnosed with Hashimotos and witnessed numerous clients and friends also diagnosed with similar thyroid/endocrine issues. So she had to find out what these cases had in common.  Her investigation pointed her to the thousands of toxic chemicals in household and beauty products.  As a hair care expert who knew first- hand how many chemicals there are in hair care products—and how little attention was paid to this situation-- she founded North Authentic, a conscious hair care-focused retailer that not only vets every product against their Barred Ingredient list, but also tests them for performance.  Natalie's belief is that “just because it's clean, doesn't mean it works.” Who knew that our scalp absorbs more of what we put on it than the skin on our arms? And maybe it's just me but why then don't we look for clean products to clean our heads (Hair) with? Ok, most of you may already be doing that. I thought I was until I saw https://shopnorthauthentic.com/pages/hair-crimes-list (Natalie's Hair Crimes list.) The list is comprised of the dirty nasty chemicals that can be found in even those products that market themselves as “clean.” More enlightenment came in the form of our discussing what kinds of products one should have in their arsenal. I'm not the 9 products for my face kind of gal so I likely won't do that for my mane, but some things make sense. Like a scalp mask or treatment to unclog pores and nourish the bed of follicles from which said hair sprouts. I mask my face so why not my head? In order to help us aging babes know what products would be best for our hair type and concerns, Natalie created a quiz. (There isn't a direct link to it but head to https://shopnorthauthentic.com/ (the home page,) at the top of the header, under the address bar you'll find a “Take Quiz” link.) Just so you don't think she recommends brands who pay her to do so… Natalie and North Authentic are not committed to any one brand. They are committed to their clients. The Quiz recommends a hair care regimen made up of products spanning across its 14+ hair care brands based on what each client needs.  Anything we didn't cover during our convo https://shopnorthauthentic.com/blogs/on-the-blog (you can probably find at the blog.) In 2018, Natalie was diagnosed with Hashimotos and an autoimmune disorder. Witnessing numerous clients and friends diagnoses with similar thyroid/endocrine issues, she set out on an investigation to find out why so many women were experiencing this pandemic. Her investigation pointed her to the thousands of toxic chemicals in household and beauty products. Being an expert in hair and noticing the lack of attention on chemicals in hair care products, she founded North Authentic, a conscious hair care-focused retailer that not only vets every product against their Barred Ingredient list, but also tests them for performance. Natalie's belief is that “just because it's clean, doesn't mean it works.” As over 92% of people have 9+ products under their sink that they purchased but don't use, North Authentic also provides an unrivaled hair quiz which matches clients with a personalized expert-prescribed hair care regimen. Natalie and North Authentic are not committed to any one brand, but is committed to their clients, so the North Authentic Hair Quiz recommends a hair care regimen made up of products spanning across its 14+ hair care brands based on what each client needs.  Ensuring every man, woman and child uses safe products and finds the right products for them avoiding any further wasted investments on the wrong hair care products is North Authentic's primary goal. In addition to listening to the episode, you can watch a video of their discussion on our YouTube Channel.  And be sure to subscribe to support the podcast! She began her hair career in 2008 after discovering that it was where her passion and creativity lied. Natalie's first career was as an International Crime Policy attorney for the United States Treasury Department and the United Nations. In 2018, Natalie was diagnosed with Hashimotos and an autoimmune disorder. Witnessing numerous clients and friends diagnoses with similar thyroid/endocrine issues, she set out on an investigation to find out why so many women were experiencing this pandemic. Her investigation pointed her to the thousands of toxic chemicals in household and beauty products. Being an expert in hair, and noticing the lack of attention on chemicals in hair care products, she founded North Authentic, a conscious hair care-focused retailer that not only vets every product against their Barred Ingredient list, but also tests them for performance. Natalie's belief is that “just because it's clean, doesn't mean it works.” Natalie has an amazing hair quiz to help you find the products that are the right match for you. I took this quiz and it literally felt like I was sitting in Natalie's chair and she was asking me questions and giving advice. Natalie is loyal to her clients, not to her brands, so her advice will span across several brands. She may recommend a shampoo from one company and a conditioner from another based on your specific needs. In this episode you will learn: How to decipher green washed hair care products from actual clean ones Which hair dye is the safest Natalie's process for selecting clean hair products that perform! They can't just be clean to meet her standards, they must have the wow factor How your hair care regimen determines the longevity of your color and style Natalie's top offenders in toxic hair care products Connect with Natalie: Website: www.shopnorthauthentic.com Quiz: www.shopnorthauthentic.com/pages/hairquiz 10 Steps to Healthier Hair: www.shopnorthauthentic.com/pages/10stepguide Instagram: @shopnorthauthentic Natalie @nataliepalominobeautypro Connect with Steph: Website: The Holistic House Podcast: Daily Detox with Steph Free 4 Step Detox: https://holistichouse.lpages.co/detoxguide Private FB group: Daily Detox FB group Instagram: @HolisticStephanieMarie ION* Gut Support: Get a FREE 3oz bottle with your purchase of a 32oz bottle using the code HOLISTICHOUSE. This week, Hilary and Jason are joined by Lisa Holste, Owner and Master Stylist at Posh | The Salon in Denver, Colorado. Lisa never thought she had a drinking poblem until the matter was brought up from the outside. Things had become rocky in her and her husband's marriage and they began to see a couple's therapist who eventually suggested she stop drinking for 90 days to see if that would make any difference. She unenthusiastically obliged to the request and completed the 90 days, only to find out her chemistry had changed and those fun nights of drinking had turned into dark drunks. This is when she finally began to suspect there really was a problem and addressed the issue at hand. In discussing the beginning stages of her sobriety and what it took for her to remain abstinent, Lisa never formally entered treatment, but greatly utilized meetings and the helping hands of mentors to stay the course in recovery. She also explains how her routine is very important to her these days and looks much different than what her life was 15 years ago. Today, 12.5 years sober, Lisa credits prayer and her higher power for ultimately giving her the strength to recognize her addiction and begin the path to recovery that has completely changed her life.   Instagram: @lisaholste     For more information on the Red Songbird Foundation, please visit:   redsongbird.org   If you are interested in donating to the Red Songbird Foundation, please visit:   redsongbird.org/donate   Follow us on Instagram at: @redsongbirdfoundation     New episode every Thursday!   Check us out on YouTube every Friday! Let The Journey Begin Podcast     Please subscribe, rate, and review!   Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

What Did I Think About This Week?!

Let’s kick off this Black History Month right people! These week I am joined by my Grandparents (don’t let the title fool you;they’re cooler than me)! We talk about how prevalent systemic racism still is in America, taking care of your fellow man, the beauty industry being OUR industry, and the importance of reestablishing pride and love within our community and the importance of ownership/entrepreneurship.
