Memore di quello che era successo l'ultima volta che avevo provato a spedire una lettera in Australia, forse ne avevo anche già parlato in uno dei miei tre minuti grezzi, nel senso che non sapevano bene quanto fosse l'affrancatura, insomma era così complicato che mi ero comprata dei francobolli e mi ero portata a casa anche delle distinte doganali così da poter fare tutto a casa. Ora, scrivo la mia bella lettera, felice contenta, metto nella busta con tutte le cose caruccie che ho messo dentro, e poi visto che a casa ho anche una bilancia di precisione, avevo le distinte doganali e avevo anche dei francobolli comprati in più, dico: che faccio? Chiamo le Poste Italiane e chiedo quanto costa l'affrancatura per una lettera di 160 grammi dall'Italia all'Australia. Levis si rinnova: un nuovo allestimento accoglie il pubblico nel 2021una residenza d'artista e tante novitàRiapre al pubblico la Pinacoteca Giuseppe Augusto Levis con una veste totalmente rinnovata, ideata delle curatrici Ersilia Rossini e Beatrice Zanelli di ARTECO, con il sostegno della Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo nell'ambito del bando “Luoghi della Cultura”. Ospitata nelle splendide sale del cinquecentesco palazzo già Paleologo di Chiomonte, la Pinacoteca G.A. Levis accoglie un prezioso nucleo di opere, realizzate dall'artista chiomontino durante i primi vent'anni del Novecento, accanto alla neonata Collezione Etnografica.Il Comune di Chiomonte, con la collaborazione delle associazioni ARTECO e L'Eigo y Cuento, intende dare una visibilità nuova a questo patrimonio di grande valore in memoria di Paolo Nesta, storico dell'arte impegnato in numerosi studi sul patrimonio della Valle di Susa e già conservatore della Pinacoteca Levis, mancato prematuramente nel 2019. Il nuovo allestimento, oltre a illustrare il percorso artistico di Levis, ne testimonia l'attenzione pittorica nei confronti della sua terra natia e ricostruisce il contesto nel quale soggiornava. Le opere della collezione permanente trovano spazio in tre ampie sale che si sviluppano su un asse cronologico e tematico: i paesaggi di montagna e la pittura en plein air del primo periodo (sala 1); le opere che testimoniano le impressioni raccolte nei viaggi all'estero che precedono la Prima Guerra Mondiale (sala 2); le testimonianze dal fronte della Grande Guerra e il ritorno al paesaggio alpino dell'ultimo periodo (sala 3). Un ulteriore ambiente accoglie oggi i grandi formati realizzati in stagioni pittoriche diverse ma accomunati da soggetti legati ai mestieri contadini o alle antiche tradizioni della comunità montana chiomontina. Quest'ultima sala costituisce un ideale trait d'union con lo spazio adiacente che ospita la neonata Collezione Etnografica del museo e la ricostruzione dell'aula dell'Asilo Infantile di Chiomonte. Con il riallestimento una sala è stata interamente dedicata alle mostre temporanee che prenderanno avvio dai prossimi mesi. In continuità con il desiderio di valorizzare il patrimonio culturale, inteso non come deposito passivo della memoria storica, ma come strumento vivo di cittadinanza e stimolo per la creatività e il lavoro culturale, nasce l'esigenza di curare una serie di residenze per coinvolgere fotografi e artisti contemporanei nella rilettura delle opere della collezione Levis e confrontarsi con il contesto della Val di Susa: la sua natura, le sue tradizioni e le sue comunità, al fine di incrementare le collezioni civiche con un nucleo di opere contemporanee. Per la prima residenza ARTECO, in collaborazione con JEST – spazio per la fotografia, ha selezionato la giovane fotografa Arianna Arcara, con il progetto Altra versione dello stesso paesaggio risultato vincitore dell'avviso pubblico “Strategia Fotografia 2020” promosso dalla Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea del Ministero della Cultura.Alla sua riapertura, la Pinacoteca G.A. Levis accoglierà il suo pubblico con una nuova identità visiva progettata da Studio Grand Hotel (Paolo Berra e Christel Martinod), che ha disegnato il carattere tipografico “Chiomonte”. Si tratta di una libera interpretazione del carattere dipinto a mano (o per meglio dire "ripassato") presente sulle targhe toponomastiche del comune di Chiomonte. Elemento chiave dell'identità visiva del museo, costituisce così il collegamento al territorio e per sua natura si inserisce con semplicità ed eleganza nella dimensione urbana e culturale chiomontina.Inserita in un territorio denso di storia, la Pinacoteca G. A. Levis si trova nel cuore di Chiomonte, tra l'Alta e la Bassa Valle di Susa, già territorio di transito per i pellegrini che percorrevano la Via Francigena, attraversata nei secoli da mercanti, soldati ed artisti. Con le sue attività, la Pinacoteca G.A. Levis vuole riaffermare il ruolo centrale e inclusivo delle istituzioni culturali e, nell'impossibilità momentanea di grandi spostamenti, ci invita a riprendere contatto con il patrimonio storico-artistico e paesaggistico che ci circonda, ponendosi come nodo strategico di circuiti di attrazione turistica tra memoria, tradizione, enogastronomia e attività in montagna.
