Preparation, readiness, and confidence are everything, especially on backcountry hunts. WSF recently became the title sponsor for the next three years of Western Hunt Fest (WHF) events, and WSF's Women Hunt® program became the title sponsor of the women's division for the same period. WSF's Sheep Fever host Gray N. Thornton, and Women Hunt founder and chair Renée Thornton, visit with WHF co-owners Jeffrey DeVaul, Guy Duplantier, and Efren Gonzalez to discuss their motivations behind establishing this next-level archery shooting, fitness, and backpack challenge across Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada this summer, as well as what shooters can expect. Archery hunting readiness has rightfully become a year-round pursuit. Giving bowhunters specialized events tailored for the type of shots and conditions they will encounter in the field elevates this preparation beyond just shooting foam in the backyard. Plus, friendly competition with like-minded hunters adds an element of community while helping duplicate the stress of making the shot count. 2024 Events: April 13-14 Raton, NM May 4-5 Palisade, CO May 25-26 Reno, NV June 1-2 Colorado Springs, CO June 27 Championship Baily, CO www.westernhuntfest.com

I don’t know about the Sportster line but I think the 883 is dead. I predict that when the 2020 lineup is announced that there will be no 883 models. I’ll do you one further and say that only 3 Sportsters will remain come October; The Iron 1200, The 48 and the 1200 XLC (Custom). - Come October Harley will announce a Scrambler model based on the Street Rod.... and based on some of the dealership customs I’ve seen it’ll probably be really cool! Rachel is away at the moment so Carmen from A Yarn Story fills in as co-pilot to Allison on this episode. We realised after we recorded the podcast that we didn't explain very well about being at H+H, the craft trade fair that happened this past March 28-30 in Cologne, Germany. Allison was there on the SweetGeorgia Yarns stand and Carmen was helping out as German translator and answering questions about having the yarns in her shop in the UK. Now that you have that as context, this episode includes chatter about things we saw at the show, along with our usual bits of news and events and what we're working on. News and Events April 23 - Spaces are still available for the upcoming coach trip to Wonderwool from London with the London Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers. Click here for more details and to book your space if you'd like to join us. May 6th - Yarn Shop Day is back! This is great opportunity to show your love for your local yarn shop (LYS). It's also the three year anniversary for A Yarn Story and Wild & Woolly! June 10th - Join us at The Village Haberdashery for our World Wide Knit in Public Day event. We'll have more details for you soon! Make Happy - aka What We're Working On Carmen, who regularly wishes she was an octopus so that she could have more things on the needles is working on a second neckerchief to match the one she made for Allison for their matching dresses that they wore on the SweetGeorgia stand in Cologne. She's also been finding her fade this week and working on the hot shawl of the season. Carmen also has a few things needing sleeves before they can be completed. In addition to sewing a matching Moneta dress for Carmen, Allison has finally finished the sooper secret project and talks about the special Lucca lace pi shawl that she knit in honour of a friend's wedding. She also cast on a new project out of SweetGeorgia yarn so that she could knit on the stand at H+H and is knitting the Foolproof cowl out of deliciously yummy Cashluxe Spark. A Yarn Shop Buyer's Road Trip In this segment we get into a bit of a geeky craft business behind the scenes discussion about various ways that shop owners find yarns and other interesting bits for their shops, as well as some of the trends and things that we think are coming down the pipe for the later seasons this year. Wrap Up Many thanks again to Carmen for co-hosting this episode! You can find the podcast on iTunes and Stitcher Radio and us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, in our Yarn in the City group on Ravelry, or in person on Wednesday nights at our knit night at The Goat on the Rise between 7 and 10pm. Everyone’s really friendly and we hope to see you there! Have a great couple of weeks and we’ll chat with you soon! Music credits (available on NoiseTrade) Ridiculously Happy (feat. Climbing and Ogden go together like Sharma and Spain. So, we're thankful for the sixth year in a row, the Weber State University Outdoor Program has organized the Ogden Climbing Festival! This year's fest was the best attended since inception, and we believe GEAR:30 had a little help with that. Besides rockin' the fest as the Title Sponsor, GEAR:30 also helped kick off the weekend with a special Will Calton Presentation: Preparing for and Surviving Everest, complete with sweet schwag and free food and beer from Roosters Brewing Co. All good things must come to an end, so we're sad this year's climbing festival is over. We're already dreamin' of next year.
