Ben and Barry discuss the semi-finals of the Euros and the Copa America tournaments and take a look at some words that Ben is not allowed to use on the podcast.
Sometimes as salespeople we tend to think that we know how a deal is going to progress and we end the process before it even had a chance to succeed or fail. Never give up on the del until management and the banks say it is no longer a deal. Keep the process moving positively and what you will see is a sale coming from out of the blue that you were certain had zero cjance of happening based on what the customer has told you right up front. Never say no or goodbye until it is one hundred percent hopeless.

Fear prevents preachers from preaching and Christians from saying the words of Jesus Christ. Better to fear Jesus Christ than man. Say the forbidden -- address the forbidden words of Jesus Christ that are "racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, queerphobic, intolerant, divisive, and antisemitic."
It's hard to know where general language ends and criminal slangs begins.
098 Bonus Episode (Thoughts): Forbidden Words (Part 1)When you think about it words affect both us and others very much. Even the Prophet President Nelson talked about it in his latest speach at General Conference 2023. He said that he never throws words in anger. Well, how we speak affect us more than we think and this episode hopefully will get you to eliminate a few worlds from your vocabulary! Our next episode will be released on 2023-06-06 but we release Bonusepisodes every week between our monthly episodes. Plus the episodes for the course New Year New Me! Be the Light. Share the Light. Spread the Light. Shine!LDS AND MEDIUM PODCAST BACKGROUND:I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or LDS for short. All my life I felt awkward and out of place, not because of my religion, but because of my spiritual gifts. It was hard to combine the idea of what first seemed like two separate worlds. So my whole life I have tried. I have learnt more about my gifts, and stayed faithful to my faith. But then I heard people left the church because it seems impossible to combine the two. So I am here, to try and mend the rift. To show that it is possible to be both LDS and to have, and use, our spiritual gifts. I am not alone on this journey, but my sister, who just is waking up to her spiritual gifts is by my side and she will also share her story.Jesus Christ, our older brother, was a healer. He asked us to love one another. So let´s follow in his footsteps. Please join me on this journey, let´s make a community of strong spiritual LDS, or whatever religion you belong to, and all work together to make this world a better place. If you like what I do, then you can find me here:https://linktr.ee/ldsandmediumIf you have words of support or stories that you anonymously want me to share please write me at ldsandmedium@gmail.com. This episode is not for the faint at ear. We actually SAY words to discuss words that are on lists of words one should not say. We goof a bit, too. All in fun, but again, if you're sensitive to this debate, there are tons of other Ruppatahtah episodes for you to choose from.

This week Michael & Kirk compare the N word vs the F word and how each word has impacted each community. They start with how the N word started as a negative classification against black people in America and comparatively the F word has historically been used as an insult but has also been applied to more than just the LGBTQIA community. Next, they discuss how each community has tried to take the power out of the word and if it's been effective. Lastly they touch on if they should stop using the slurs. And of course… They ramble. Enjoy catching up with these recent conversations: Hunger strikes are in the news, from youth climate activists to cab drivers in New York City. Sharman Apt Russell, author of several books including Hunger: An Unnatural History (Basic Books, 2006) and Within Our Grasp: Childhood Malnutrition Worldwide and the Revolution Taking Place to End It (Deckle Edge, 2021), discusses the history of hunger strikes and explains how they work. John McWhorter, Columbia University linguistics professor, host of the Lexicon Valley podcast and the author of Nine Nasty Words: English in the Gutter: Then, Now, and Forever (Avery, 2021), talks about his book on profanity, where swear words come from and why they hold so much power. Jelani Cobb, New Yorker writer and professor of journalism at Columbia University and the editor of The Essential Kerner Commission Report (Liveright, 2021), talks about his new edition of the 1968 Kerner Commission Report and why he finds it still essential reading. Alex Strada and Tali Keren, artist-in-residence for Queens Museum's Year of Uncertainty, talk about their new multi-media participatory artwork called "Proposal for a 28th Amendment? Is it Possible to Amend an Unequal System?". They are joined by legal scholar Julia Hernandez, associate professor of Law at the CUNY School of Law. As part of our Iconic at 50 series, Marcus Miller, musician, composer and record producer, talks about Miles Davis' classic album Bitches Brew, which was released in 1970 but won a Grammy in 1971, plus more from that year in music, including the birth of jazz-rock fusion, including groups like Weather Report and The Mahavishnu Orchestra. Two Zero Q: 20 Questions With Interesting People from the LGBT community and friends
Hi Everybody, Welcome to 2ZQ Hot takes, where we discuss issues both big and small; I am your host The Very Handsome Kirk and today I'll be talking about Forbidden Words
In this Tuesday episode, I talk about the power of our words and how I allowed one word to impact my life negatively until I redefined it. Here is the link to the organization I mentioned in this episode which helped me reframe being dyslexic. The power of [the word] dyslexia, what that meant to me early on in my life. For me, it meant stupid. For me, it meant no friends. for me it meant horrible embarrassing moments in the classroom...it meant I would never add up...until I redefined it. Dyslexia - its a superpower. In going through this dictionary, there are a ton of words...and we get to choose which words we absorb into our DNA. It's all a matter of choice - it's in our perception. I would rather be happy, fulfilled and hopeful with light in my heart believing I am making a difference [as opposed to being "realistic"]. What did I have to lose? I'm no longer that same woman. I love her, I love that woman I was five years ago cause she got me here. And this woman, oh my gosh, I can't wait to see where she is going to take me next. If this is all a delusion, make it a great one.

There are a few words that public health officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are not allowed to include in official documents related to next year’s budget: “vulnerable,” “entitlement,” “diversity,” “transgender,” “science-based,” and “evidence-based.” Today, we’ll talk about why these words are off-limits! For January's bonus episode, we put together a sci-fi double feature: The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas by Ursula K. Le Guin and The Forbidden Words of Margaret A. by L. Timmel Duchamp. Both are short stories of speculative fiction, and both are incredibly clever bummers. When not despairing at the states of humanity and journalism, we lighten the mood with some horrifying mouth noises, David Brooks articles, and Andrew's campaign for Sexiest Man Alive.

Some words, like n****r, ch*nk, and c*nt, are so forbidden that we won't even spell them out here. Decent people simply don't use these words to refer to others; they are intrinsically disrespectful. But aren't words just strings of sounds or letters? Words have life because they express ideas. But in a free society, how can we prohibit the expression of ideas? How can we forbid words? Where does the strange power of curses, epithets, and scatological terms come from? John and Ken avoid mincing words with Chris Hom from Texas Tech University, author of "Hating and Necessity: The Semantics of Racial Epithets." More at http://philosophytalk.org/shows/forbidden-words
