Scott is our youngest guest ever, but that doesn't make him any less qualified to share his great stories. Founder of Frogpants studios and cartoonist extraordinaire, Scott talks about how his love for technology started with a Japanese boombox, and how he was the coolest kid on the block thanks to his dad's arcade. We discuss how different kinds of tech have evolved over time, why it's important to stay at the forefront of innovation, and how that has impacted the way he raised his kids. Although he started out in corporate graphics design, Scott took the leap to go solo and founded his own podcasting network, where he now harbors some of the kindest fans on the internet. We also get some of that hard-hitting advice only grandparents know how to dish out. This episode is a gem! Scott and Chris have a sit-down and chat up up about his new big project, plus lots of great insights into development of this kind of project vs something like a major game release at Blizzard. Here's a bit more about the project. Auroboros: Coils of the Serpent is a 5E campaign setting by Chris Metzen and Warchief Gaming. The first release in this universe, Worldbook: Lawbrand, is based on the roleplaying campaign that Chris ran with his childhood friends in the eighties and nineties, before heading to Blizzard to work on worlds such as Warcraft, StarCraft, and more. Enjoy Scott Johnson chatting with Chris Metzen about his awesome new project!

Ok, we'll be digging into WoW and Nerdactular shortly, but first, let's cover this week's news... AIE News Community Nerdtacular is rolling along! The first full day of content is over and we're into the second day as we record this. The Paul and Storm concert was epic and they, of course, finished with the Pirate Song (Happy R!) along with many well placed X was the name of cover band. The Story Time and Drawing with Scott and Turpster was amazing and really needs to be an ongoing segment somewhere in the Frogpants portfolio. And of course it wouldn't be the Frogpants All-Stars without controversy and technology fails, but they powered on through and can't wait for the final this afternoon. Stop by and check out all the vendors (in fact we swiped Mkallah from her booth, thanks to Kiki for booth sitting while we record) and see what the amazing community has created. Oh and one last thing, the Pokemon gym battles and raid battles are in full bloom. There is a gym right at the vendor area for Nerdtacular and it is constantly switching hands between Team Mystic and Team Valor (led by Brian Ibbott), although somehow both teams were caught off guard and Team Instinct held the gym for a while. This is Mewkow: To my left is Tetsemi - (One second, updating my Nerdtacular prep spreadsheet). And to my right is Mkallah: (busy making chicken thingies for the upcoming road trip). This week we are joined by special guest Abovan who is here to talk to us about AIE in FFXIV Welcome! Ok, we'll be digging into FFIXV shortly, but first, let's talk about next weekend's upcoming event, Nerdtacular and get into this week's news... Nerdtacular preview and thoughts: Tetsemi: Just a brief WoW update, I got my rogue to 110 and about ½ way through the class story (still need to finish two leveling zones) and got concordance on my other 110's (Mage, DK, Paladin, and Druid) and now working on their off-spec weapons. Nerdtacular is one of my favorite get together's for the AIE guild and the greater Frogpants community. There's a ton to do both at Nerdtacular and at the Snowbird resort as well. Non-nerdtacular activities I'd recommend. Take the tram to the top of the mountain for the view (if you're okay with heights) and ride the mountain coaster. The coaster takes you through the forest and some very pretty sites. If you've got kids with you, go for the wristband. For Nerdtacular itself, check out the game room (We miss you Ralffie) and you may find a new favorite game to play or watch. Cyberwaif: As always, my computer time is nil, but I am getting back into my first love, RPGs. Our old Monday group is back together, and we have gone through two weeks of a new game that was recently kick started, City of Mist. The starter PDF is available at https://www.cityofmist.co/. It's a noir game where everyone is the mortal representation of a mythical power. Though, Tet may be the human embodiment of too much gin. We are playing through a premade adventure, trying to solve three mysterious murders and a robbery, preferably before Halloween night. My Thor's Day thunder group has been moved to Woden's Day, though we are on a hiatus due to real life schedules. And, my every other Friday group with the GnGs crew is in full swing! Great game so far and the DM has a good combination of battle and player development, just like I like it. Oh, and I am playing a Cthulhu powered crazy warlock from Thay, which makes things….. Interesting. If you want to follow along, we do stream and the the game is available after the fact on their Yourtube channel and on Itunes, search for Geeks and Geeklets. The D&D game is marked “The Forgotten Prince.” And, word to the wise- this game is saltier than a drunken raid night. You have been warned. Now, to piggy back on what Tet said. Yes, if you are staying at Snowbird, it is good to plan for a free day to do all of the activities and get a wristband! In years past, if you did the buffet breakfast, you got a free tram ticket, so if they still do that, it is a great savings. We like to take the tram up and then take the mile hike down to the ski lift. As for food, it is expensive, but, we love the Aerie, especially if they have any happy hour deals going. And, the Atrium opens at 7 for coffee and breakfast. For food, we also regularly take a trip into SLC for Sushi Groove- the sushi is great, the music can be loud, and they have fun desserts. Check them out at http://www.sushigrooveutah.com/. We also hit up the Target down the mountain for room food like lunch meat and yogurt since the rooms have small refrigerators. As for NT itself, besides all of the panels and the concert, there is the soon to be world famous game room,

AIE News Community We need your guildie of the month nominations! Since the officers can't be everywhere and see everything that everyone does, Jedhai needs you guys (yes, you AIE!) to give him some nominations. There is an ongoing post in the community section of the fourms, you can also PM him as well, or send an email to gotm@aie-guild.org. And, speaking of guildie of the month, congrats to our winners from July: Khatlyn and Tanaria from Final Fantasy XIV. Khatlyn and Tanaria are married in real life, and in game they are both super helpful people. To help everyone else get know our awesome guildmates better, Jedhai conducted a short interview with them, available on the guild website, AIE-guild.org. http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/56508-august-2015-guildie-of-the-month-nominations https://aie-guild.org/guildies-of-the-month-part-1-khatlyn-and-tanaria And, in just under three weeks, the celebration of all things Frogpants will be occurring at the Snowbird Ski resort near beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah! We are looking to have the schedule for our annual Summer of Love soon, though due to a scheduling conflict with the tail end of Nerdtacular, we will be pushing things back by a week. But don't worry, A COOP, a Wedding, and shenanigans are being planned. And, of course, the very important Remembrance Day! And even though San Diego Comicon didn't give the fans what they were dying for (Trailer!), there was a fair bit of WOW Movie News- including posters featuring both Durotan and Lothar. Wowhead and the Nerdist both have a good wrap up of the panel- plus, there has been a promise of a real preview in November, probably at Blizzcon. And, every report from SDCC has said that the footage was amazing. SWTOR Not related to SWTOR directly, but additional amazing news from SDCC- there was a three minute Episode 7 behinds the scene reel that was shown at Comicon and quickly put up on youtube. There is also a meetup posted on http://www.meetup.com/Alea-Iacta-Est and there is plenty of chatter in the Nerdtacular section of the Frogpants forums, including people planning caravans, looking for roommates, boardgame requests and more. Guildie of the Month - Help us recognize our outstanding guildies in all of the games that AIE plays! AIE's Guildie of the Month program is our way to acknowledge outstanding members in our community. If you know someone that deserves to be recognized, please send an email to us at gotm@aie-guild.org with the name of the person you are nominating in the subject line. Best of luck to the two of you, as you level in life together. Guildie of the month- This month we had a bit of a departure from our normal procedures. Our guildie of the month is officially non other than Syreyne, the official herder of cats and mistress of the Craft Faire. Sy, being the great person that she is, originally declined the honor, since the craft faire is a huge collaboration, but was sweetly informed by Jehdai that there is no back plan, and she is the guildie of the month. Read Jehdai's interview with Syreyne on the guild website www.aie-giuld.org. And, to keep the “boss” happy, here is the list of the CO-guildies of the month, the craft faire crew: Nevermore, Ugnaught, Amijade, Liranei, Elcarth, Velazarius, Zaalginar, Sedaar, Tynchal, Prinadora, Anwyl, Maguswynds, Muagramar, Blessedchild, Alachaas, Saisri, Medicakes, Aerwen, Cocoamoo, Twikk, Tetsemi, Mkallah, Shojobeat, Allanya, Locke, Elhuntero, Vikkela, Mercyn, Sqweazle, Brithael, Lirianna, Grimcow, Chillreis, and Frodo. And, Best of luck in recovery to Kerub. She went into the hospital on May 27th for a Spinal Fusion (owww). If you see her around, please give her very gentle hugs. http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/56355-kerub-is-going-to-the-hospital-tommorow Meetup- Summer time is here - time for meetups! It's AIE The Next Generation Elder Scrolls get some rewrites We've got Guild wars news! Holding out for a house? And we chat with Kav and Jehdai about AIE in Wildstar All that and more coming up right now... AIE NEWS AIE: Community They were missed at Nerdtacular this year, but Renee and JJ, otherwise known as Iceflow and Caoboi had other plans around the 4th. Just a few days ago, their family size doubled with TWIN GIRLS. Zoe Lane at 5lb 13oz and Maya Jade at 5lb 4oz. Welcome both of you to the AIE Family, and all the best to JJ and Renee from us here at the AIE Podcast. Speaking of Nerdtacular, we wanted to give DogHouse Systems a big shout out for sponsoring the event. One attendee at Nerdtacular won a complete DogHouse gaming desktop, an attendee in the live chatroom won a Doghouse gaming laptop, several people won World of Warcraft themed computer panels, and the always awesome Kimberly Price was there handing out mousepads a'plenty. Big thanks to DogHouse for being a valued supporter of the Frogpants and AIE communities. Just a reminder, which we'll probably repeat every other week or so for the next month and a half, AIE is moving over to our new Mumble server. Our Ventrillo server will be shut down on September 1st, so you have about seven weeks left to get all set up. That sounds like plenty of time, and it is, but better to work out any bugs now. All the Mumble information is in the community section of the AIE forums, and we'll have a link in the show notes. AIE: Elder Scrolls Online For you Elder Scrolls players who have been feeling like the 50+ content seems a little too hard, you are not crazy. Bethesda recently announced that they intentionally tuned the game to encourage grouping at the Veteran levels, but they've heard the complaints and have already begun re-tooling the game to make the 50+ experience more like the 1-50 game. AIE: The Secret World For those of you in on the big Secret, Rattozatto wants to alert you about the hotfix that FunCom released yesterday for The Secret World. He says it has some pretty meaningful changes. I've seen the patch notes, but since I'm one of the uninitiated, they just look like squiggly lines written in the sand to me. But if you can crack the code, take a look at what's changed to see how it affects your game. AIE: Final Fantasy The AIE in Final Fantasy gang is looking for input from all your FF players. As you know, they've been working towards buying the largest house possible in the game, because AIE is just that awesome, but there's been some discussions that it's taking too long, and they are wondering if you would rather buy a more modest house now instead of letting the fund raising drag on. If you have any thoughts on this, Abovan has posted a poll in the Final Fantasy forums, and there's quite a bit of discussion going on in that thread, so head on over and jump into the fray. AIE: Guild Wars 2 Believe it or not, we actually have some Guild Wars news this week. NCSoft has announced that Season Two Episode Two, called “Entanglement” will launch on July 15th, and according to Velinos, if you log in before then, you will get the update for free! And who doesn't like free DLCs right? AIE: 200 And last but not least, don't forget next week is our 200th show. We're going to have some amazing guests on (Alludra, can you mention any names?) and we'll be seeing Ghomus off after over three years at the helm of this show. You're not going to want to miss it! And with that… GAME NEWS UMAMI and deadline for before you are kicked. August 10th. UMAMI Process and how to get an invite Current Alt policy - quick and to the point

All that and more coming up right now... AIE NEWS AIE WOW: Welcoming The Sun Role Playing Event It might be hard to remember that the AIE World of Warcraft guild is founded on a roleplaying server, but AIE member Ironclawed definitely remembers. She will be hosting a role playing event to celebrate the Spring Equinox. (Yes, the Spring Equinox was last month, but who's counting?) The event will be held tomorrow, Friday April 18th, at 8pm server time, starting in Bloodhoof Village and will include a pilgrimage to Red Rocks for the celebration with a return to Bloodhoof for feasting and story telling. AIE WOW: Spring Craft Faire Pet Battle Tournament and Transmog Contest As if the AIE WoW Spring Craft Fair wasn't a big enough event in itself, with all the skill leveling, raffle giveaways, and everything else Syrene is going to fill us in on in a few minutes, Nevermore has just announced a Spring Craft Faire Pet Battle Tournament and a “My Battle Pet and Me” transmog contest. The event will be held on Sunday, April 27th, from 7pm to 9pm server time in the Crusader's Coliseum at the Argent Tournament Grounds in Icecrown. The winner of the tournament will get to choose either a rascal-bot or darkmoon eye as their prize. You have to have at least three level 25 battle pets to play in the tournament, and you need to register in advance so they can get the brackets all set up. But if you don't have three level 25 pets, or just want to show off your fashionista skills, there will be a transmog contest immediately following the tournament. To join, just choose your favorite companion pet and create the perfect transmog outfit to match. For more information and to register for the tournament, check out her thread in the AIE Azeroth section of the forums. AIE General: Food, yum This is also in the AIE Azeroth section of the forums, but it really applies to everyone, because who doesn't like food, right? AIE member Moozedude has started a thread asking for everyone's favorite eats, so if you have a recipe that you'd love to share, or are just looking for ideas for dinner, check it out. This is not the first time the AIE forums have been flooded with food, and it's probably a good time to remind people that we actually have our own AIE Cookbook, full of great recipes submitted by the members of AIE, with custom artwork by the Gerpmeister himself. It's in the Frogpants store for only $19.95, and all profits go to fund the various servers and services used the guild. AIE LOTRO: April Events For all you Hobbitses lovers out there, Dux has posted a few events coming up for AIE in LOTRO this month. Update 13 was launched earlier this week, and there will be 7th anniversary games coming out later this month, but to add to that, the AIE clan will be holding a PvMP tour of the Ettenmoors on the 19th, and a Kinship party with live music on the 26th. Dux didn't post too many details, so if these events sound like fun, go track him down in game and find out more. AIE STO: Double XP Weekend & Mining info For the AIE Star Trek Online crew, Capt Hunter wants you to know that from now until Monday the 21st, STO will be holding a double XP weekend event. All missions and events will earn you double the experience, so if you're still leveling up your captain, be sure to check it out. And if you're looking for something to do, Capt Hunter also recommends digging into their private dilithium mine. You can grab a shuttle from their starbase to the mine, knock out your mining dailies,

All that and more coming up right now... AIE NEWS AIE Generale: Nerdtacular We know Scott is going to dish out some tasty details on this in a minute, but we had to mention that the big news of the week is the official announcement of Nerdtacular 2014 opening up ticket sales. Nerdtacular will be held on July 4th weekend at the beautiful Snowbird resort in Salt Lake City, Utah. Tickets are only $50, and that gets you two full days of amazing Frogpants fun, including three, yes three, tracks packed with star-studded panels, games, and shows. If you want to know more, stay tuned! AIE Nomads: Moving On Just a reminder, the AIE Nomads are moving on from Rift and over to a galaxy far far away in a mere matter of days! Lotwook and Pellel have been busy populating the calendar with great AIE SWTOR events for the Nomads to take part in! Remember to download your game early so you can jump right on in on the fun on day one!! AIE General: Put your mark on the map It's easy sometimes to overlook those sticky posts at the top of the forums, or to dive right into your own favorite game's forums and forget to check out the Community section, but if you're not aware, we wanted to remind you that our other guest tonight, that rascally Ralff, created a Zeemap for all of our AIE members to show where in the world they happen to be, and see who might happen to live near them, which would be a big help when thinking about planning meetups. So if you haven't done so already, or haven't checked it out in a while, head to the Put Your Mark On The Map post in the Community section of the forums and see what's changed. AIE GENERAL: Imperium Ludi Reminder We know there are a ton of games out there that many of our members are very interested in playing that are either not in the AIE official list, or that are coming up in beta. If you want to jump in and get all conversational-like about your favorite new game, and maybe help AIE decide if it's right for our community to set up an expedition into, check out the Imperium Ludi section of the forums. AIE General: Removal Reminder - No hard feelings! Just a reminder, we love you, and you will always be a part of AIE, but we do clear out the rosters occasionally. To make room for new members to our happy family, we purge inactive characters from our ranks. The rate at which this is done varies by game, so we just want you to be aware! And don't worry if you found yourself on the wrong side of an inactivity kick, it is quick and easy to get back in, just hop into your game's local AIELFO channel and ask for a re-invite. - And to prove we mean it, inactivity is inactivity: (Abo sent in a screenshot of me booting Ghomus from AIE) AIE STO: More inventory slots coming soon! What's an enterprising young starship captain to do when your pockets are full of loot and you keep losing all of your red-shirted cargo carrying companions? Well don't worry, the fine folks at Perfect World have announced the are increasing everyone's storage slots. Both character inventory and bank storage will be increased in the next patch this week. AIE NEWS Many people may not realize this, but as AIE has grown, all of the expenses needed to support the community, like web hosting, the Meetup.com site, giveaways, etc., have been paid for out of pocket by a small handful of very generous people. As the community continues to grow, and our needs increase, we're looking to raise some funds in other ways, so we can provide everything we need and want to provide for the community without continuing to tap into the wallets and purses of those very generous people any further. One of those fundraisers is our new “Pass The Hat” campaign, where you can donate a buck or two towards keeping the community running. All the information you need is in the Passing the Hat post in the forums, including examples of how much we're trying to raise, where the money will be going, etc. It's almost like playing EVE with a spreadsheet! Thus far we're at just over 30%, with a final goal of $4,000 at the end of the year. It was mentioned on last week's show, but we just want to make sure that folks know - The ExtraLife charity IS being supported fully by the Frogpants community at large this year! The charity event is a game-playing marathon where people get sponsored to play video games for up to 25 hours straight. It's the gamer's version of running a 5k, but without all the sweat, knee pain, and subjecting yourself to that great ball of fire in the sky. The charity will benefit the Primary Children's Medical Center. in Salt Lake City, Utah and is a great cause. If you want to join the team as a participant, or donate to the cause, look for the Frogpants Team for Extra Life Marathon post in the Community section of the forums. A friendly PSA: Please use an authenticator if a game has one available! There have been waves of accounts getting banned for new and old games alike! Please don't get caught in the crossfire and get some peace of mind. Many games have a phone app (for some platforms) which is free, and some others have a cheap 5-8 dollar key fob. Money VERY well spent! Today's show is about World of Warcraft, and it will probably be mentioned, but the Fall Craft Fair is already starting to spool up. There will be a meeting this Friday (the 13th, wooooo!) at 9pm server time (so EST) on getting the ball rolling. Show up if you'd like to know more, and keep an eye on the forums! Speaking of the craft fair, if you're new to AIE and would like to know what the craft fair IS, or have any other questions about the craziness that is the AIE community, don't forget we have our own Wiki! There you will find answers to all your questions, and you can post your own answers to questions that haven't been asked yet. At wiki.aie-guild.org, you will find information on events like the craft fair, the summer of love, and the running of the beef, along with details on our ventrillo server, our jabber server, guild policies, real life events, and more. And since it's a wiki, you can add to the mindshare! And with the new content patch of 5.4, the Siege of Orgrimmar is underway! And with that, new raids and flex raids! With the new "Seige of Orgrimmar" raid content, we encourage any and all raid teams to send in their team's progression on either normal or flex by next Tuesday, September 17, and every Tuesday after that, for inclusion into the Raid Wrapup segment at the end of the AIE Podcast. The Raid Wrapup isn't limited to just World of Warcraft.

Lanc will be catching us up on the exploits of AIE in Azeroth and the changes in patch 5.3 in just a moment, but first, the news... AIE NEWS Ladies and gentlemen! We have a New Guildie Of The Moment! Everyone give three cheers for Wyllow of The Secret World! Many great things were said about this guildie including This player has been super helpful and very patient every time I have spoken to her in game. She's always answered questions when she is free and is willing to lend a helping hand. Wyllow is awesome, one of the nicest and most helpful people I have met in any game. I totally agree, she has been a vital part of AIE Secret World and she is just all around amazing So everyone please congratulate Wyllow if you see her in game, and remember you too can nominate someone for Guildie of the Moment, just send an email to officers@aie-guild.org If you're a former Rift player who wandered off to other things and wants to see how Telara has been keeping, you might be interested to know that Rift will be free to play this weekend. This isn't the free-to-play version that's in the works; this is just a special deal for former subscribers who want to check the game out again to decide if they want to add it back to their game rotation when the game goes free to everyone. The free time started today, May 30th, and will last until Monday, June 3rd. The Guild members of Lord of the Rings Online are taking advantage of the new Springfest in-game event! It all starts on June 1st at 9 PM Eastern time. where they will have live music, and later in the evening a foray into the Ettenmoors for PvMP (player versus monster-player). More information can be found in the lord of the rings section of the AIE forums in the AIE Springfest ‘13 thread. For all you current and future starfleet captains, we are happy to announce Star Trek Online has now been added to the AIE UMAMI membership database. All current STO guild members need to sign up in UMAMI to register their characters. AIE's starfleet admirals will be conducting a purge of all guild members in game that are not in UMAMI on June 29th, so make sure your captains are accounted for. Big thanks to the hardworking Stigg for making the update If you'd like to take a peek at some of the World of Warcraft Tier 14 raid content, our own If Looks Could Kill raiding team has put together a very impressive video from showing off their adventures in Mogu'shan Vaults, Heart of Fear, and Terrace of Endless Spring. You can find the link in the AIE Azeroth forums, or in our show notes . The AIE Cookbook is a hit! At least according to Beefmaster and Beefywife. The Beefs posted on the forums about the scrumptious dinner they had using Grudek's Tater Tot Casserole recipe. If you'd like to feed your own AIE horde, you can get a copy of the AIE Cookbook in the Frogpants store for just $19.95. The cookbook is full of beautiful illustrations by our own master cartoonist and head nerd Scott Johnson, and of course wonderful home-grown family-favorite recipes from dozens of AIE members. All profits go to fund AIE in Real Life events, such as the Guild Hall at Blizzcon, so it's good for AIE as well as your belly. World of warcraft has a new mount for sale The armored Bloodwing! If you have 25 dollars american, and feel like you don't have anything wicked cool to ride around azeroth on, we suggest you give this shadow bat a look. If you follow the AIE EVE forums,

All that and more coming up right now... We've got a great show today, with special guests Ratto Zatto and Capt Hunter standing by to talk to us about Star Trek Online - but first, the news... AIE NEWS A meetup in my own Backyard! Well, close to, anyways. There is going to be a raid on the Harry's Hofbrau in San Jose, CA in 2 weekends! The time is not set in stone, but I know there are a few people in this area, that I'd love to meet up with you. Shout out to Oakdragon for trying to get this organized! And it looks like Emperor Pellpatine, on April 1st, (no joke!), has put up another SW:TOR officer for you to ask all your crazy questions to! This month? Sema! Be nice folks! Nerdtacular tickets are NOW available! Head on over to Eventbrite to pick em up! Keep in mind that if you happened to get such through Kickstarter you should have already gotten an email which will tell you how to pick up your tickets! Speaking of Nerdtacular, it looks like Max (from last week's show) and a bunch of others are trying to get organized for a Running of the Nerds! There were of course concerns that Salt Lake City IS at altitude (around 4400 feet!), so keep that in mind, but a few die hard folks ARE going to be doing at least a few runs while there! Not sure if we want to call it a reboot, or if we want to call it a new chapter in the life of CapStable, but the podcast brought to you by AIEU has returned to the airwaves! Er...spacewaves? Anyways, if you have any interest in EVE you should check it out! The ever-talented Andrew Allen, the composer of our new show theme, has reached the 15 day mark for his Kickstarter and he's 83% of the way there! Tell your friends, we know how many people listen to this podcast, and how many of you like video game music! Support a Frogpants regular and get this album funded early! And finally, we'll end with a little rumors and scuttlebut. Apparently some details of Blizzard's mysterious game, code named Titan, have been leaked. We don't know how true it is, but someone who knows someone who might know something says Titan will be based on Earth history, and will include everything from modern weapons to magic, time travel and heavy use of Greek, Roman, and Viking myths. For more information on everything we covered in the news, you can find links in our show notes on our website at www.theaiepodcast.com. And of course, read the AIE Forums! And with that, let's welcome our guests, Ratto Zatto and Capt Hunter on the show to talk to us about AIE's adventures in Star Trek Online GAME NEWS Hunter and RattoZatto introduce themselves. Our positions in AIE STO. How free is free? We'll explain what's accessible. http://sto.perfectworld.com/about/freetoplay/features-matrix What's Zen & Dilithium? New expansion and that Romulans are like Panderians (Kinda, sorta, not really, except that they are). Current state of the fleet and where we are with Starbase expansion. Starbase level 5, tier 2 starbase unlocks, tier 2 tactical and science unlocks, tier 1 Recruitment unlocks and what's on the horizon. What end game content there is. Special Task Force, New Romulus. (plus the fact you can replay missions and the rewards scale with you, so high replay value) Personal experiences (missions we particularly liked, memorable moments, etc.) In particular, the "Trekiness" of it all, from seeing familiar faces to walking the decks of places you've seen in the shows. The Foundry (player created missions) CLOSE And that's our show for tonight. Big thanks to Ratto Zatto and Capt Hunter for joining us!
http://youtu.be/pSCzLvsrcnU We've got a great show today, with special guests Ayhood, StupidGenius and GypsyGirl standing by to talk to us about Rift but first, the news... AIE NEWS We have a new guildie of the moment! Everyone give three cheers for Großerstier. Gro, who is also known as Aeonidis in eve online got his nomination via email write in! See! Emailing does make a difference! Some amazing things said about him: sent me roughly two complete bank tabs of LW mats of assorted types (for the craft fair). He's quite a hero with me. I know him from EVE, a great member of the community I completely support making him a GotM for his participation in EVE alone! So everyone give Gro a big high five if you see him! If you know somoene who you think is a fantastic example of what AIE stands for, let us know by sending an email to officers@aie-guild.org. Last week we announced we have a new Jabber service! Jabber is a multi platform chat room that AIE is using as a cross game greenwall. But have you been wondering how to actually use it! Well we have instructions for that! Head on over to the forums and look for the Jabber Jabber Jabber (or How to Connect a Jabber Client to the AIE server) thread to find out how to connect and ask your questions there! Just a reminder, the officers are thrilled to hear about new games that may be added to AIE, but would like to remind you that certain games currently have Non Disclosure Agreements and are not open for discussion on the forums. If you are playing a game and are under an NDA understand that any and all discussion on the topic may be shut down on the forums. A Book of Heroes Update: We have 12 coguilds bursting at the seams, plans to get 13 and 14 opened in the next few days! Please be patient as we try to keep this going in an organized fashion. A LOT of folks are playing this game! Bless and Curse you Dills! Also remember if the Alea Iacta Est guild name isn't in the book of heroes thread or Wiki, it's not an official AIE guild. All SORTS of Anniversary things coming up, so definitely stay tuned for those, and here's one that is getting off the ground. The Running of the er...Pandas! Running of the Schezwan Beef? Man I don't even know. Another anniversary event coming up Lanctharus has been busy calling forth the horde of aie to take down stormwind! You heard us right folks! We are not taking down bosses but all of stormwind, we want their town FOR THE HORDE! Meetups meetups meetups! Some big meetups are being planned! The Chicagoland meetup for Medieval times is underway on February 2nd. Southern California AIE'ers are also having a midwinter meetup that same day! More meetups are being added to the meetup.com website every week so check it out, or even start your own! They are really simple, fun and a great way to get to know your local guildies! If you are looking to get into The Secret World, NOW is the time! Origin has it on sale for a measly 10 bucks! 10 bucks for everything! No monthly fee if ya don't want! Sale goes through the 28th, so act fast! An open apology to the EVE folks. I tried to look through the news postings to get some information on what is happening in the game, but to be honest I don't know what any of those terms mean! An example: Honeybadger Coalition, and therefore TEST, have officially reset standings with the CFC, by mutual agreement. There will be a temporary re-bluing at the weekend for evacuation of assets from Deklein. This is a news item, apparently! Alludra: In case you somehow are listening to THIS podcast and not any other of the great great Frogpants family of shows, official dates and times for Nerdtacular 2013 have been announced! The resort looks totally awesome, and Scott has let us know there are KILLER deals on room rates, lots of restaurants in walking distance, and now 2 DAYS of fun! Okay that's enough news! Let's bring out our guests Ayhood, StupidGenius and GypsyGirl standing by to talk to us about Rift
http://youtu.be/3jwzzgLsqwg We've got meetups, game news, and we talk to the AIE Jedi masters! All that and more coming up right now. THIS is the A-I-E Podcast... We've got a great show today, with special guests Abovan and Max standing by to tell us what's going on with AIE in a galaxy far, far away - but first, we've got a little AIE news for you... AIE NEWS The forums were down, but are back up again! We know you all had a panic attack last Tuesday when the Frogpants forums went missing, but they are restored and more secure than ever. A security update took them down, but it wasn't too long before our mods got them back up and running again! The vent password has been changed! Oh no! You can find the new vent information on UMAMI at umami.aie-universal.net. Just sign in and then look for the orange button with the link, Ventrilo Server Access. Don't forget, if you're a member of AIE, you already have an UMAMI account, so don't make a new one to try and get the password, it doesn't work that way. If you can't remember your login, just click the “Forgot your password” link to request a password reset using the information you signed up with! I've heard from a couple of new members that they're a little unsure of what to do in vent. While you can always use vent to communicate with your AIE raid team, you can also just drop in to any of the game-specific general chat rooms, like the Shady Tavern for you World of Warcraft players, where you can have a good time chatting and meeting new people while you do your dailies grind. CINDER KITTY!!! OMG OMG OMG SO CUTE!! The blizzard pet store is selling a new pet! The cinder kitten! While this seems like something I made up just so I can talk about pets (yay!), it's actually for a good cause. Blizzard is giving 100 % of the proceeds from the sale of this pet to Superstorm Sandy relief! So get an omg so cute pet and help out the red cross! Mounts are also currently half price, but the sale from those aren't helping the charity. Just a quick tease: Plans are already afoot for the AIE Guild Hall at Blizzcon 2013. This will be the largest Guild Hall event we've put on to date, and if you were there during Blizzcon 2011, or if you caught the live stream, you know how much fun that Guild Hall was. More news to follow in the coming months, including how you can help get involved, so stay tuned. Put your mark on the map! Just a heads up for our newer members: If you want to see what other AIE members might live near you, check out the Put Your Mark On The Map thread in the community section of the AIE forums. This is a great way to meet other AIE'ers in real life and plan some get-togethers. And speaking of get-togethers, don't forget AIE has our own page at Meetup.com. There you can see who's having a gathering near you, or throw out your own invite and plan something with your AIE neighbors. Meetups coming up soon include a gathering at Buffalo Wild Wings in Daytona Beach, FL on Dec 15th, a group of Hobbit watchers meeting in Pasadena, CA on Dec 15th, and a Dinner and a Movie get-together in Cary, NC - also on Dec 15th and also going to watch The Hobbit. Returning to Rift? Feeling overwhelmed? Well, the AIE Telara officers have you covered! Head on over to the forums to the official ‘welcome back - a guide to what has changed thread' for information on how to adapt to the new expansion! AIE members in space AIEU wants you to read your mail! Not happening? Fine. We will announce it here! Cotel (via Khariq) has announced a friday night cruiser run tomorrow at 8 CST. New players are not only welcome but encouraged to come join in the adventures and explosions. Yeah...there's gonna be explosions. And with that, let's welcome our guests, Abovan and Max... (AcuZod greeting) [Host welcome and chitchat] We've got a great show today, with special guest Beefmaster, but first, the news... AIE NEWS We at the podcast hope everyone made it safe through the recent hurricane/superstorm. We saw a lot of community spirit on both the forums and on twitter MMO champion and wowpedia are virus ridden...at least according to google. The two sites where we get a ton of info have been flagged by the search engine. No word yet on why, or if this is another false positive so be aware and be careful. Considering making the jump to windows 8? We have a thread discussing it in the community forums. So far no one is reporting any major conflict with games, but we are still keeping our fingers crossed. If you would like to discuss the latest MS OS or if you would like to warn anyone about the problems you have experienced, head on over to the forums. NaNoWriMo is here! As you may be aware, we have quite a few amatauer and professional writers amongst the members of AIE. Many of whom partake in the National Novel Writing Month challenge every year. NaNoWriMo is a challenge to write a 50,000 word novel through the month of November. It doesn't have to be any good, it just has to be 50,000 words, and hopefully a lot of fun. To learn more about NaNoWriMo, see nanowri.org. To chat with other members of AIE taking the NaNoWriMo challenge, see the NaNoWriMo thread in the AIE forums. The Frogpants group on LoseIt is a great place for all AIE/Frogpants members to work on their weight loss goals. The membership there has so far been super supportive, and they currently have a weight loss challenge going on for the group as a whole to lose 1000 pounds before next year's nerdtacular. It's another great place for the community to band together and support each other in something outside our normal hobbies. All that and more coming up right now. THIS is the A-I-E Podcast... AIE NEWS Beefmaster being the crazy person he is, bought AIE a TF2 Mann-versus-Machines mode-capable server for us! For those that missed our Remembrance Day event in WoW, or would like to relive the magical moment it was, StupidGenius has put together a video of the event. It's about 30 minutes long and includes all of the remembrances from Scott, Randy, Stigg, and others, ending with the fireworks memorial. It's Official, AIE has ventured towards Guild Wars 2! Still in the planning phase, They have a shiny new subforum and are well on their way into settlement phase proper! Not bad for a game that is set to release next week! In case you haven't seen it, the World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Cinematic Trailer was recently released, and as always, the cinematic production team at Blizzard really knocked it out of the park. It's just amazing to watch. I can't wait for them to do a full length movie. The meetup.com site is filling up with member meetups! There is another raid on Chino Banditos happening in Phoenix Arizona in a mere two days, and the AIE members of Southern California are meeting up at strategicon on the 31st! And that's not even mentioning all the AIE fun happening at Dragoncon! Want to stay in the loop? Sign up on our meetup.com site! Diablo 3 just had a patch! You remember Diablo 3 right? That game that dominated everyone's lives at launch! Well Blizzard has added a bunch of new improvements to the game such as increased drop rates, crafting changes, a better auction house, mob and class balancing, and something called paragon levels. Sounds like the whole game got an overhaul! For more info, check the diablo 3 site or the shownotes for the patch notes. GERP is really gathering steam! And I'm not talking about the wonderful Figurehead of AIE and Frogpants! We have a letter of intent on the forums already working back towards a game which there have been quite a few folks in, but never an official AIE Presence. Lord of the Rings Online! DragonCon is only 10 days away, and our “Extreme Guild Management” panel is officially on the schedule, however it's been moved to Saturday at 8:30pm, which has been updated in the pocket program and mobile app. Ignore the big printed guide. We expect to be streaming it live over UStream, if they'll let us. And we're also still deciding on an official meetup time, though most of us will be hanging out in the board game room in the Hilton when not at other events. Keep your eyes out for the #aiedc twitter tag for live updates. And speaking of guild expansions, the Imperium Lūdī section of the forums is hopping! If you want a specific game to be a part of AIE, or want to help with the organization of a new branch of this amazing gaming community, then head on over to the forums and let everyone know. Oh and in case you didn't know, we all obey henry. And with that, let's talk to our “secret” guests...Sindrake, Mantis, and Inuus!
