Join us for an inspiring episode as we welcome Joanna Rakowski, the author of the memoir "Chasing the Daylight." Joanna takes us through her extraordinary journey from being a ballerina in Poland to serving as an interrogator in the US Army. We explore her challenges as an immigrant, the profound experiences that shaped her transformation, and the impact these had on her personal life, including her marriage and a meaningful friendship with a professor in Poland. Joanna also shares her insights on the mental and emotional resilience required to adapt to a new country and the strength it took to pursue her dreams in America.Listen in as Joanna recounts her struggles with language barriers and physical fitness in the military. She opens up about her initial difficulties with English, creating personal dictionaries, and gradually building the confidence to communicate with fellow soldiers. Her journey from barely completing basic exercises to surpassing fitness goals underscores the importance of patience, self-discipline, and trust in the process. Joanna's story highlights the significance of perseverance and the determination to succeed in both intellectual and physical endeavors. Finally, we discuss the opportunities that came with pursuing the American Dream. Joanna compares the limited freedoms she experienced in Poland with the open and accessible landscape in America, where she was able to establish a marketing consulting firm, obtain a college scholarship, and achieve homeownership. She shares her strategies for mastering English and integrating into American society, including her decision to distance herself from her Polish-speaking community. Joanna's narrative underscores the transformative power of embracing a new language and the personal growth that comes from immersing oneself in a new culture. Nvidia issued guidance for substantial sequential revenue growth in the second quarter as demand for content-creating artificial intelligence bolsters its data centre platform. The company said that revenue has been largely flat at $11 billion, plus or minus 2%, for the July quarter. The consensus among analysts was for revenue of $7.13 billion before the outlook was given, and later raised to $11.09 billion. In the first quarter, revenue declined 13% year over year to $7.19 billion, but surpassed expectations for $6.52 billion. Generative artificial intelligence drove significant upside for Nvidia's products, and has created significant opportunities for broad-based global growth which provides an exciting outlook for the company...Stocks featured:Nvidia, Marks and Spencer and Pets at HomeTo find out more about the investment management services offered by Walker Crips, please visit our website:https://www.walkercrips.co.uk/This podcast is intended to be Walker Crips Investment Management's own commentary on markets. Many of us are setting out on road trips this summer. I'm getting ready for my own. I will travel 900 miles stretching from where I sit now in Oxnard, California to Santa Fe New Mexico. It takes about 15 hours and three meals to get there. The roads that lead us from here to there regardless of where are dotted with fast food joints. They serve food that is not the best for water, you can even argue fast food chains represent some of the worst foods for water, as the food relies on big corporate farms whose concern is not to grow wellbeing but to grow big yields and big profits. But there you are on your road trip, starving, with few options. Believe me I've been there. And will likely find myself there again. But when I do just a little planning on the front end, I don't find myself stranded along the road with nothing good to eat. In this episode I will share action tips to feed yourself while being kind to my body and the planet.Offer ideas to pack food from homeTo find better options for fast food and restaurants.Treat the grocery store along the way as a fast food joint. The difference in my body when I eat either all of my food from home or a combination of both home food and out versus just eating whatever is close to the gas station where we stop is night and day. When you eat less water the rewards keep flowing.Links and resources:Download the 10 TIPS to EAT LESS WATER and SAVE WATER during your SUMMER GATHERINGSFollow me on Instagram:@eatlesshttps://www.instagram.com/eatlesswater/?hl=enwaterFor more about me and what I do, check out my website.Receive 15% off your first purchase at the Eat Less Water ShopIf you need ideas for wine to serve at your next party of gathering  that save water, build soil, and are delicious you can't go wrong with any of the following:Biodynamic wineDryfarmwine.com Use this link at receive an extra bottle free with your first orderTablas CreekBeckmanMake sure you hit SUBSCRIBE so you don't miss out on future episodes released every Monday and (water) Wednesday. And, if you enjoyed this episode, please leave me a rating and review. The startup provides reusable metal containers for restaurants to use for takeout service rather than single-use options. Initially, Dispatch Goods partnered with restaurants near office buildings so employee lunch orders could come in reusable containers. Employees dropped off the containers in return bins on each floor, and Dispatch Goods collected them, cleaned them, and redistributed them to restaurants. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, Dispatch Goods quickly rebranded and expanded to pick up their containers at customers' homes. Dispatch Goods is on a mission to make reuse easy and delightful for everyone. In the episode, Lindsey and Maia walk me through their motivations for starting Dispatch Goods, the gap in the market the startup is filling, and how the process of ordering takeout works. We also dive into a conversation about how to scale their operation, how COVID-19 affected the Dispatch Goods, and what the startup has planned for the next 12 months. Lindsey and Maia are great guests, and I enjoyed learning more about Dispatch Goods.Enjoy the show! You can find me on twitter @jjacobs22 or @mcjpod and email at info@myclimatejourney.co, where I encourage you to share your feedback on episodes and suggestions for future topics or guests.Episode recorded November 1st, 2021To learn more about Dispatch Goods, visit: https://dispatchgoods.com/homeTo learn more about this episode, visit: https://myclimatejourney.co/ctss-episodes/dispatch-goods

Professional societies have played important roles in various industries.  They have been  a critical force that set up best practices, standards, or certifications.  In today's ever changing environment, the professional societies remain critical but may need to adopt different approaches with different focuses.  We witness some of them grow while some of them disappear.  One thing for sure, the need for everyone to identify the best way to advance one's career remains important as ever.In this episode, we are going to highlight SIM, the Society of Information Management, which created the place for IT professionals to gather and exchange information.  As Todd and Daidre pointed out it is a great network platform to help individuals to advance their career and do something good for the community at the same time.  As Information Management, or Technology, exists in so many industries that creating a standard doesn't seem to be the top priority for SIM, but creating the best leaders for sure to be one.Todd and Daidre also pointed out, because of the focus on leadership development, SIM is finding ways to help disadvantaged groups, such as female professionals, to advance their career.  Take listen and it may turn a few lightbulbs on how to reach out to find the mentors that could change your life. You can also watch this episode by subscribe YouTube Channel: Joint STEM InitiativeTo know more about SIM Charlotte, visit https://chapter.simnet.org/charlotte/homeTo know more about Daidre Fanis, check out her LinkedIn profile @ https://www.linkedin.com/in/daidrefanis/.To know more about Todd Buelow, check out his LinkedIn profile @ https://www.linkedin.com/in/toddbuelow/.
