Consistent surveillance and analysis of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) at poultry production facilities can guard against “overvaccination” — where too much vaccine virus in the environment causes a rolling reaction in flocks. That's the view of Rodrigo Gallardo, DVM, PhD, professor of poultry medicine at the University of California–Davis.
Why are Oil & Gas companies acquiring renewable energy assets - both development platforms and project portfolios? How are these investments helping companies get ahead of the curve on ESG, RECs, and other fronts, and what's important to be aware of in the current market? We talk with Timothy C. Kim, Founder & CEO of ibV Energy Partners, a leading utility-scale solar + storage company with over 8 GW of project capacity across the US. The Company's innovative strategies have led to collaboration with Toyota Motors, Dow Corning, Louisville Gas & Electric, Southern Nevada Water Authority and several other non-traditional buyers of solar generated energy. ibV has led the charge into heavy fossil-fuel states, breaking open new markets such as Kentucky and Louisiana, where it remains the largest developer of renewable energy projects to date. Before founding ibV Energy in 2017, Tim held senior roles in international finance and M&A. He was also an Officer in the US Navy, deployed Kuwait and Iraq, as a platoon leader with Naval Coastal Warfare Group One, a key element of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In this episode, Kaitlyn Allen talks with Tim Kim, CEO of ibV Energy Partners and its direct affiliated companies. Before founding ibV Energy, Tim led closings on M&A transactions in the US and globally. ibV Energy Partners LLC is a privately held company based in Miami and direct investors and developers of large-scale solar and storage power plants across the US. Their customers include investor-owned utilities, power agencies, corporates, and municipalities engaged in procuring grid-connected clean energy. ibV was founded by a group of US military veterans. Listen as Kaitlyn and Tim explain what Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) are, how they work, and why more companies are bypassing utilities to work directly with developers to realize their ESG goals. They also explore the ESG-related risks of solar panels and the sourcing of minerals. Tim is a proud veteran of the US Navy, and his military background and dedication to public service are driving forces for his life's work. He shares his perspectives on why veterans should consider careers in the renewable energy industry and how their military skillsets are assets to this industry. While many vaccines and vaccination programs effectively protect against the highly contagious infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) in poultry, outbreaks of the disease still occur in vaccinated flocks. Brian Jordan, PhD, associate professor at the University of Georgia, recently shared his insights on why these breaks occur and how they can be prevented.
Exposure to IBV has been linked with cases of false-layer syndrome, where large cysts in the oviduct prevent birds from laying eggs.
Exposure to infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) has been linked with cases of the poultry reproductive disease false-layer syndrome, where large cysts in the oviduct prevent birds from laying eggs. New research suggests that the earlier birds are challenged with the virus, the more severe the symptoms can be.
Large-scale collection of samples from producers across the southern US is helping shed new light on infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) in chicken flocks — including uncovering a new serotype of the pathogen. The 2-year surveillance project, led by Brian Jordan, associate professor at the University of Georgia, began as an effort to try to understand which bronchitis viruses were normally circulating in broiler flocks.

Complexes should regularly evaluate the infectious bronchitis viruses (IBV) prevalent on their farms to help determine which vaccines can provide the best protection possible.IB is primarily an upper respiratory tract disease that is most commonly associated with respiratory problems, but it can cause other issues like egg drop, for example, in laying hens.

Thorough vaccination programs and bird surveillance are critical to giving US flocks the best possible chance of protection against evolving strains of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV).Brian Jordan, PhD, associate professor at the University of Georgia, said that while vaccinating against IBV is standard procedure in the poultry industry, matching a vaccine to the strain of the virus isn't always possible.
In this episode of Bred to Perfection, we are talking with Dr. Rodrigo Gallardo about Infectious bronchitis (IBV), which is an acute, highly contagious respiratory disease of chickens, caused by a type of coronavirus. This is a disease that can be found on many yards and farms, without the breeders even knowing it. In most cases, they will confuse Bronchitis with other respiratory diseases, such as Coryza. What they don’t realize is that Infectious Bronchitis has a huge effect on our brood fowl and their offspring, and can affect the future of our strains. Listen in and learn what you can do to treat and control this disease, and hopefully prevent it. There’s a lot of great nuggets of information that I know you will not want to miss.

Research is increasingly linking false layer syndrome (FLS) to early exposure to infectious bronchitis virus (IBV).FLS has been reported across the world over the past decade, but it has only relatively recently been discovered in North America. The condition was first found in Canada, and cases started to pick up in 2017, according to Karen Grogan, DVM, MAM, ACPV, clinical associate professor of avian medicine at the University of Georgia's Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center.

Surveillance aimed at pinpointing the type of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) that's circulating in poultry flocks is essential to control of the disease, Mark Jackwood, PhD, University of Georgia, told Poultry Health Today. There are a lot of different IBV types circulating in the poultry industry. “So if we don't know what's out there, we don't know which vaccines to pull off the shelf to use...,” he said.
How do you look for new serotypes of a virus that might be circulating in an area? Sentinel birds are a good place to start, according to Abigail Reith, DVM, a technical services veterinarian for Zoetis. In a recent study in Arkansas, she used infectious bronchitis (IB) spires designed to look for serotypes of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), a coronavirus that is a highly infectious respiratory disease in chickens.“We knew that, potentially, we had a new serotype floating around, so we wanted to use the single birds to see if we could isolate [the virus] and identify it in the broiler breeder houses,” she told Poultry Health Today.

The deeper our host Matt Hooper dives into blockchain on this show, the more he is surprised by remembrances of the internet’s past. When the idea of connecting billions of people felt new and exciting, when we were all eager to be participants in a constellation of data, and when we all felt we had more control over our digital lives. Today’s first guest is an innovator whose career helped place him front and center of both the first internet revolution and our newer blockchain era — Irving Wladawsky-Berger! Around the IBM offices he’s referred to as the “legendary IWB”. He worked at IBM for 37 years and then an additional three years as a consultant. During those 40 years, Irving was involved with IBM in a variety of activities, mostly involving developing technologies and bringing them to market. It has been almost two months since we shared some of the great listener feedback that we are getting. This is always interesting and encouraging for other listeners who often have the same thoughts and questions. The first question wanted an explanation of the differences between the Futurist Bodies Out of the Ground resurrection view (BOG) and the two Preterist resurrection views (CBV versus IBV). Other questions focused on Daniel's Seventy Weeks, the first century rapture, and how the NT manuscripts survived and remained uncorrupted in spite of the rapture removal of all the true Christians at the Parousia. Several more questions and comments dealt with the two resurrection views within Preterism: CBV versus IBV. Advocates for the Collective Body View (CBV) of the resurrection claim that the Present Passive form of the Greek verb EGEIRO ("are raised") can ONLY be legitimately translated as "are BEING raised" with the sense of an ongoing process of resurrection of the collective body. On the basis of that claim, they label other preterists (IBV) as being futurists. We show that their collective body interpretation of 1 Cor 15 simply does not hold up under grammatical, historical, and contextual scrutiny, and that the Individual Body interpretation of this text is the correct one. Advocates of the Collective Body resurrection view have accused the Individual Body View of being futurist because we teach that we get a new immortal body and go to heaven at physical death. However, we reverse those charges, and show that the Collective Body View has produced some very rotten fruit by teaching that we are in "heaven now," and have our "immortal bodies now," and have "perfection now," and that "sin no longer exists now," or that "temptation and sin will continue to plague us even in the afterlife." If you are confused by all those strange unbiblical ideas that the Collective Body View has produced, this podcast is for you. This is a replay of my seminar speech at the Garrettsville 2011 seminar on the topic of the Resurrection. We discuss the various major concepts of resurrection within Full Preterism, and then show why we believe the Individual Body View is the biblically correct one.
