DAMION1White House blasts Amazon over tariff cost report: ‘Hostile and political act'The White House on Tuesday slammed Amazon for reportedly planning to display the cost of President Donald Trump's tariffs next to the total price of products on its site.“This is hostile and political act by Amazon,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters. “Why didn't Amazon do this when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years?” Leavitt asked. The Trump administration's aggressive swipe came in response to a report that Amazon will soon show consumers how much of an item's cost comes from tariffs. The amount added as a result of tariffs will be displayed right next to each product's total listed price, a person familiar with the plan told the news outlet.WHO DO YOU BLAME?CEO Andrew Jassy. He's the “boss.”Maybe he feels emasculated?Lowest overall batting average (.308)only 6% influence compared to his boss, Jeff Bezos (67%)Not paid like traditional CEOs (relying instead on his $275M in unvested equity) and the $38M that vested last year; so when he's hanging out withHis buddies like Target CEO Brian Cornell ($20M) eBay CEO Jamie Iannone ($22M) have the total summary compensation bragging rights. Not to mention the sad, unmanly CEO Pay Ratio which is listed as 43:1 for Jassy and 753:1 for the DEI-hating Cornell Jeffrey Preston Bezos (67%)I mean he's the actual boss, right?Executive Chair, founder, former CEO, superstar.Hangs out with people like Katy Perry, has a newspaper, sends penis rockets to nowhere, has pretend funds named after himself like the Bezos Earth Fund and the Bezos Day One FundBoard member and former Pepsi CEO Indra NooyiOr maybe this is a DEI problem? She said the US Air Force is accepting jets that lack "functional" radar systems, without offering evidence. She also claimed that Lockheed is "increasingly obsessed with pushing a woke agenda." Like many other US defense contractors, Lockheed scrapped its diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in January after Trump returned to the White House. The $2 trillion F-35 program is an appealing target for activists and officials seeking to slash government spending, and it has a well-documented list of problems. The Pentagon's top weapons tester said earlier this year that the program had problems delivering functional software and had fallen behind schedule to test upgraded mission systems.WHO DO YOU BLAME?The 2025 Proxy Statement that mentions “diversity” five times!Of course all five of those instances were in the anti-woke/anti-DEI shareholder proposal introduced by the Bahnsen Family Trust. Not sure how this even made the proxy after Lockheed's anti-DEI move in January: “As we publicly stated following the issuance of President Trump's January 2025 Executive Order on DEI, we will not have goals or incentives based on demographic representation or Affirmative Action Plans. We are actively reviewing our workforce-related policies to ensure they are, and remain, compliant and aligned with the Executive Order and all related applicable legal precedent.”The three-headed white guy leadership group (53% influence)CEO/Chair James Taiclet (25%): $24M in payLead Independent Director and Nominating Committee chair Thomas J. Bit Digital Inc (NASDAQ:BTBT) CEO Sam Tabar speaks to Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the contract expansion with an existing high performance computing (HPC) customer, increasing the value to about $275 million. The market has positively responded to this news, significantly boosting the company's shares last week. Initially deploying 2,048 GPUs in January, the client has now doubled the size of the fleet, representing about $92 million per year, locked in for three years. Tabar detailed that this computational power is essential for clients building large language models (LLMs) and AI applications. Bit Digital offers a customized approach, leveraging Nvidia H100 chips and collaborating with Dell and Supermicro for their deployments. This specialized equipment is hosted in data centers with unique capabilities, located in places like Iceland. Looking ahead, Tabar emphasized the company's growing opportunities in the HPC AI vertical, citing a robust pipeline of clients eager for their services. "We have a very pregnant pipeline of opportunity... it's all been reverse inquiry," he noted. Bit Digital plans to streamline its processes by hiring a head of revenue to manage the increasing demand. Visit Proactive's YouTube channel for more videos. So I had to kick off the podcast sending her a birthday wish! (3:39) There was a thrilling end to the third Grand Slam of golf this year as we have to ask ourselves, did Bryson Dechambeau win the US Open? Or did Rory McIlroy lose it? I'll breakdown those final few holes that went awry for McIlroy and the epic shot by Dechambeau which won him his second Open in five years. (22:10) Sweeps were averted in the NBA and Stanley Cup Finals, but there are some scary similarities between the Dallas Mavericks and Edmonton Oilers, who avoided getting swept with resounding Game 4 wins. Does that bode well for both teams going into buildings ready to celebrate championships? I'll also talk about Charles Barkley retiring from TNT after next year. And what will the new Utah hockey team be called starting this fall? (43:29) Baseball had some interesting storylines over the past few days. The Orioles took two of three against the Phillies. Some key injuries to contenders (O's pitcher Kyle Bradish, Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto & INF Mookie Betts) Seattle's sweep over Texas. An umpire under investigation for gambling and some big series this week, headlined by Orioles-Yankees and Mariners-Guardians. Previously Chris ran VC-backed internet startups, with one IPO.Highlights:- Chris is hopeful about Silicon Valley going back to its roots to create sociological change by uniting people and being thoughtful about what the world should look like. Over the last couple decades it has become more venal.- Chris believes in the power of investing public money to create opportunities. He says that Silicon Valley is largely the story of a public private partnership and that it's hard to do certain fundamental research in a purely market-based economy.- Chris says that the initiatives around Web3 weren't grounded in a realistic understanding of human nature and the result was not a good outcome.- Healthcare is one of the most conservative industries but a way to drag it into the future is for the government to mandate change. Health records are currently built for billing purposes rather than for improving health. It's also not all that long ago that hospitals were using paper records until the Affordable Care Act required that they digitize.- There is a moment coming soon where there is an opportunity to completely reimagine healthcare delivery. Purchasing any property comes with a certain amount of risk. And that's undoubtedly true with multifamily real estate investing. But if you never take any risk, you're not growing your portfolio or your business. And if you spent 10 years working on Wall Street like today's guest, you'd understand investment risk very well and how to manage it. Craig Berger is the Founder of Avid Realty Partners and has been an active real estate investor for over 15 years. He oversees deal sourcing, underwriting, fundraising, capital markets, operations, and asset management. Since 2015, Avid Realty has grown its portfolio with approximately 2,000 multifamily units worth more than $275M. Prior to founding Avid Realty Partners, he worked for over 10 years as a highly acclaimed semiconductor equity research analyst at Smith Barney Citigroup and FBR Capital Markets, among others. With his expertise, he's guided Avid Realty through 6 exits with zero realized loss and a 33% average IRR.  In our conversation, Craig shares what it takes to have incredible success as a real estate investor. In his words, it takes persistence, grit, determination, and being able to analyze deals to minimize risk while being willing to go all in and be willing to fail. If you find yourself getting caught up in the headlines and fears about inflation, you'll miss out on opportunities that are available. Key Takeaways with Craig Berger Why fears about inflation should be nearing the end and why there will be great opportunities in the next 12 months. Why Craig has focused on building his portfolio in Texas and how state laws factor into those decisions. How real estate investors need to have grit and determination to be truly successful. Taking risks is essential in real estate investing, but minimizing risk helps to ensure a successful outcome. Want the Full Show Notes? Surbhi Sarna is a partner at Y-Combinator and the author of Without A Doubt. Previously, she was the founder and former CEO of nVision Medical, which sold to Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) for $275M. nVision developed a first-in-kind microcatheter for the detection of ovarian cancer. After raising $17M in venture funding, completing three clinical trials, and obtaining two first-in-class FDA approvals, nVision was acquired by Boston Scientific for more than 15X money-in. Surbhi then stayed at Boston Scientific for two years, running the 150+ person commercial organization in preparation for launch. She is now Y-Combinator's only and first partner focused exclusively on healthtech, medical devices, and therapeutics and sits on both private and public company boards. An inspiring take on how to turn others' doubt —and your own —into rocket fuel to achieve your dreams from entrepreneur, CEO, and healthcare investor Surbhi Sarna. The very qualities that make you an outlier are, in fact, your strengths. Or so Surbhi Sarna discovered after a teenage cancer scare inspired her to reimagine healthcare, founding a medical start-up to detect early ovarian cancer. In WITHOUT A DOUBT, she shares her entrepreneurship story of proving the doubters wrong. As a young, brown woman without a medical degree, Ivy-league contacts, or any Silicon Valley street cred—and who had felt different throughout her life—she was often overlooked and underrated. Undeterred, Sarna used the naysayers as ammunition to help her surpass the expectations of others—and achieve her dreams. WITHOUT A DOUBT is her story of becoming a leader without an MBA, networking without a network, and raising funds when she didn't know a single venture capitalist, teaching you how to do the same. Sarna led an all-star team to develop a life-saving medical device, sold her business for $275 million, and became a partner at Y Combinator, one of the most successful venture firms in the world. Using her own experience, she shows you how to face setbacks, not let impossible standards (including your own) get in the way, lead empathetically, empower others to think differently, and how to convince the right people to help you accomplish your goals. WITHOUT A DOUBT is “a wise, practical, and compassionate guide to startup success from a determined woman.”— (Kirkus Reviews, *starred review)Surbhi Sarna lives in the San Francisco Bay area To learn more about 83bar please visit: http://83bar.com/BSB Media

Lisa and Jeff are in their forties and have a blended household. They had about a $300k net worth before they were awarded a $1.275M settlement in January of this year. What's important isn't the details of the settlement, but that they don't know what to do with it. She doesn't trust him—and for good reason. He opens lines of credit and makes secret purchases while also refusing to participate in financial planning, leaving Lisa to carry the burden. She's looking for a teammate, but he's happy to simply send her his paycheck and make jokes about their toxic dynamic. They've invested the windfall in a few places (yes, one of which is a bad financial advisor), but they lack a vision—and the communication to build one. Before they decide what to do with the settlement cash, they need to be honest with themselves, and with one another. That's where I come in. Let's see if we can bring some clarity to their situation.  Connect with Ramit https://www.iwillteachyoutoberich.com/podcast/ (Website) https://www.instagram.com/ramit/ (Instagram) https://twitter.com/ramit (Twitter) https://www.facebook.com/ramitsethi (Facebook) https://www.youtube.com/user/ramitsethi/featured (YouTube) https://www.linkedin.com/in/ramitsethi/ (Linkedin) If you and your partner have a money issue and you want my help, I occasionally select a couple to work with, free of charge. As the wine investment business leader with $275M of assets under management, Cult Wines has been a pioneer in the space for over a decade.  Born out of a passion for wine, Tom Gearing, CEO and founder of Cult Wines, tries to balance the head and heart elements of investing in wine with actively managed portfolios by CFAs and experiences with some of the top wineries of the world.  Tom shares all the details and great examples of why people should consider investing in wine, the Cult Wine investment process, and where Cult Wines is heading.  Detailed Show Notes: Tom's backgroundfounded Cult Wines w/ his brother in universityFather was an investment banker with a passion for wine, especially BurgundyTraveled a lot to Burgundy as a childStarted an import company - Burgundy CellarThe early 2000s - started Financial Wines - an online price transparency tool, but ran out of funding after the dot com crash2007-2008 - during Financial Crisis - people looking for alternative investments - Tom realized wine was a safe haven and should be more investableBased in the UKWhere the Wine trading is very well establishedThe UK has tax free status for wine trading for anyone in the world - can keep wine in a tax free warehouse where you don't pay taxes (sales tax, VAT) upfrontAsian collectors used London to build collections before shipping itBrexit impact - mostly operational (shipping is a lot slower) vs. tax,Why invest in wine? Those with a passion for wine - Build a fine wine collection, can drink it, or sell it in the futureThose not passionate about wine - wine prices are more consistent and tend to go up in value because the supply goes down over time (people drink it), tends to be insensitive to financial market fluctuations (went up in value in 2009) - suitable for diversificationVs. art/cars/other alternative investments, wine is more attractive:Accessibility - lower barriers to entry - hundreds or thousands of dollars for wine vs. millions for fine art/carsLiquidity - better than other alternative assetsPrice transparency - more trading publicly and more visibility (though, still not as good as it could be)Wine investment serves as a storage/aging function for the fine wine market with pristine provenance and authenticityCult Wines OverviewNot a retailer - acquires wines on behalf of clientsThree warehouses - London, Paris, BordeauxEU changed storage laws in 2016 to hold wines without paying VAT (similar to the UK)Have own warehouse and staff to ensure provenance and authenticity of wines (e.g., caught heat damage on a shipment of Scarecrow wine and made a claim with freight forwarder immediately)Has own photography studio and processes 250 cases/day, and photos are immediately uploaded for inspectionInvestment processHas a managed portfolio service (min $10k investment)Gather client objectives - risk profile, investment duration (3-5 years, 5-10 years, 10+ years), how wine fits into their entire portfolioBuild a personalized, customized portfolioStore wine in physical warehouses (clients own bottles or cases, the physical asset b/c it's hard to have liquidity for funds where people have fractional ownership of a fund)Get access to investment platformTop-down investment process - actively managed portfoliosCult Wines has a Chief Investment Officer (CIO), and all portfolio managers are Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA)Constantly reviewing the market and making asset allocation decisionsE.g., Trump Tariffs on European wine - team thought Bordeaux would go down in price, proposed reducing allocations from 40% -> 30% and re-allocate to Italy, which looked undervalued already and had no tariffs; in 6 months, AUM of Bordeaux went from 40%->36% and Italy 6%->13% and Bordeaux prices went down 2-3% and Italy up 12%Assets Under Management (AUM) - $275MUK/Europe is the biggestAsia nextAmericas (smallest, but newest)FeesAnnual management fee - starts at 2.95%/year (with $10k investment), 2.75% (with $35k investment), 2.5% ($150k investment), 2.25% ($500k investment)Benefits - portfolio allocation, customization of the portfolio, investment platform access, customer support, storage & insurance, trading on the platform (no feeds on trading to align Cult Wines interests with clients)Higher tiers get more experiential benefits - access to producers, client-only events, educational activities, vineyard visitsWine Buying35% direct from winery/new vintages65% secondary market - from existing investors, trusted suppliers/brokers, and trading platforms (e.g., Liv-Ex)Wine Selling / Delivery~20% of wines have been delivered to people, can ship to 45 states, clients pay delivery feesSome clients use Cult wines as a global cellar - e.g., a Japanese collector sent wines to the US when he was going to be there to visitWine sales channelsCult Wines buys for other clients - for wines they believe will appreciate moreTrade team - sells to other wine merchants, brokers, traders, importersRetail/Direct to Consumer - listed on Wine-Searcher and Cult Wines website for saleTeam - ~100 people totalInfrastructure based in UK (including ~24 tech and product folks)Regional offices - relationship managers, portfolio manager (all CFA level; ClassPass users around the world have logged more than 100 million hours of workouts, while Dave's Killer Bread is flying off shelves at a record pace. What do their founders attribute the success of their brands to?   At a recent Business Mastery event, Tony Robbins hosts an in-depth conversation with both Payal Kadakia, the founder and CEO of ClassPass, and Dave Dahl, the founder of Dave's Killer Bread.  ClassPass is this decade's first unicorn, a start-up that reached a billion dollar valuation. But it is Kadakia's passion for and dedication to her company's mission of providing soul nourishing experiences to its community that drives her daily.  After spending 15 years in prison, Dahl seized his second chance by creating healthy, great-tasting bread recipes that became Dave's Killer bread. He sold his company a few years ago to the second-largest bakery in the nation for $275M. While Kadakia and Dahl have very diverse backgrounds and entrepreneurial stories, they both harnessed challenges, obstacles and disappointments to drive them, rather than destroy them. Interview with Paul Begin, CFO of Continental Gold (TSX: CNL)Continental Gold is a Colombian based company, Gold mining company and we focus on high grade assets. We're focusing on building our flagship asset called Buritica which is located about a two hour drive from Medellín. It's a high-grade multi-million ounce deposit that's on the verge of nearing commercial production. We have three very strong and supportive partners. 1. First and foremost, is Newmont Mining. Newmont initially came in 2017, when they paid $109M for 19.9% equity stake in Continental. Newmont has been a great partner. I like to say they've got the greatest mining tool box in the world, that has been at our disposal since their investment in 2017. And they've been a big help in pressure testing various technical issues to make sure that we're going down the right path. They topped up their investment. They participated, and I would like to call them the anchor investment, in the deal that we announced in March of 2019. Where they took $50M OF A $175M deal, which was in the form of a convertible. 2. The next partner we have is Red Kite Mine Finance, which is our senior secured debt lender. They've provided $275M debt principal to us. They've been a great partner to work with. They're flexible. They think a little bit... a little out of the box. What we loved about Red Kite was we got flexible terms, very covenant light. But most importantly they were very quick to fund us. So if you go back again in our history, we received our environmental in 2016, late 2016. It was in everybody's interest that we get started on building the Buriticá project as soon as possible. And we were able to close the Red Kite Mine Finance secured debt in January 2017. And we had access to the funds immediately. So that allowed us to get going immediately and get local people to work.Company page: https://www.continentalgold.com/en/If you are serious about investing, and what to make smarter investment decisions, SUBSCRIBE here: and on our website https://www.cruxinvestor.comFor FREE unbiased investment information, follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn:https://twitter.com/cruxinvestorhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/crux-investor/Take advantage, hear it here first: https://www.youtube.com/CRUXinvestorCompany page: https://www.margauxresources.comMake smarter investment decisions, subscribe here: https://www.cruxinvestor.comFor FREE unbiased investment information, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin:https://twitter.com/cruxinvestorhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/crux-investor/Take advantage, hear it here first: https://www.youtube.com/CRUXinvestor
