Video animation by: Big Flowers Intro/Outro beat by: BLOODBLIXING The Plug (0:57). The Interview (2:30). Throughout my experience listening to music, one of the most important life lessons I've learnt is that of patience. I've had too many instances of an album initially not grabbing me, but then as I continued to revisit it and give it an open and curious mind… I fell in love with it months, and sometimes years after I initially heard it. Art has a way of connecting you to the present. No better example than the new album from today's guest, Cavalier, titled Different Type Time. In this episode, Cavalier and I have a sprawling conversation covering the creative thinking behind the rich audio visual experience of Different Type Time, what informed his unique career path as an artist, the meaning of participating in hip-hop culture, and much much more... You do not want to miss this!! The approach behind pricing Different Type Time vinyl (4:38). The gap between the release of Private Stock and Different Type Time (12:36). Being a “rapper's rapper” (17:43). How Cavalier views his role as an artist (24:54). Breaking down the implications of legalized weed (30:56). Impact of Quelle Chris on Cavalier's career and artistic development (42:41). Partnering with Backwoodz Studioz for Different Type Time (48:31). The main intention behind Different Type Time (56:32). Cultivating the sound for Different Type Time (1:13:35). The audio and visual experience of Different Type Time (1:19:55). The features on Different Type Time, including the Unhoused Brothers (1:26:00). Upcoming Cavalier projects with Quelle Chris & Denmark Vessey, Raz Fresco, and Child Actor (1:31:43). We discuss the 2 year long runaway maroon insurrection in South Carolina lead by charismatic maroon bandit Forest Joe. We use interview of author Syliviane A. Diouf to provide historical context. We also question why the Denmark Vessey conspiracy is more publicized than the 2 year insurrection of Forest Joe and his band of Runaway Maroons.

DrxQuinnx is a multi-talented artist, producer, emcee, and DJ based out if Chicago. He is also one third of the Midwest trio "Bullies" (with Denmark Vessey and Azarias) and one half of the Chicago duo "The Citizen (with Lil Kydd). Growing up, Quinn was heavily influences were Madlib, Kanye West, J Dilla, Lupe Fiasco, and Mos Def to name a few. All of whom inspired his heavily samples production and rap style. DrxQuinnx is known for his unorthodox rap and production style which melds 90s boombap/breakbeat, jazz, 8 bit, edm, and contemporary sounds. Lil Kydd is a rapper, beat producer, visual artist and graphic designer from out of Hazel Crest, IL. His approach to music and art takes the four tenets of hip hop and uses them to portray his evolving view of his surroundings. Taking elements of Chicago Juke, Jazz, Trap, Trip Hop, Deconstructed Boom Bap, and a few nods to anime, gaming, and internet culture sprinkled in and it's the formula for the Lil Kydd!? sound. Having been born in the South Side of Chicago and relocated to its Southern Suburbs as a youth, Lil Kydd!? likes to think he has a faraway seat to the epicenter of what he maintains is the second renaissance of Hip Hop.
These throwback Episodes initially aired public but were removed as a result of the change in plans of the audio service we were using before. Now we are happy to share these insightful interviews which began the AUDIO journey of Artist Interviews with Out Da Box Radio. Original Show Description: Out Da Box Radio is happy to bring you a special interview featuring producer/emcees Denmark Vessey and Scud One. We were fortunate to speak with the two mid-west artists recently in regards to their amazingly creative concept album, entitled “Cult Classic”. A tale about a rapper turned Cult Leader who decides to go the route of Organized Religion in an effort to gain power and control over the masses. Both artists took the time to speak on their individual history as well as their respective contributions to the project. Denmark explained how the concept of the album came to be and also touched on some of the feedback he received from religious followers who happened to hear the album. Scud took a moment to break down the production approach for the project and expressed the impact that producer/label owner “Exile” had on the making of album. Denmark later took some time to speak on the inspiration for his name, as well as the potential dangers of being involved in a cult and how young people today are affected by the cult influences of their generation. Scud shared some insight into the album’s story line which was fortunately broken down into track by track liner notes thanks to the Nahright Listener Guide. Denmark concluded the interview by giving some insight into how he wanted to bring a close to the album but left open speculation for a continuation to the concept, in the form of a possible prequel. I truly had a great time speaking with both Denmark and Scud, it was indeed a pleasure to build on the subject of their latest project, which I feel is one of the most creative hip hop album’s of the year. "CultClassic" is currently available via itunes digitally and can also be found in CD and Vinyl formats via fatbeats. Denmark’s awesome prequel mixtape to the album entitled “Don’t Drink The Kool Aid” is available for free download via djhouseshoes.com. Definitely feel free to support their music with a purchase if you like what you hear. In the meantime, take a moment to listen to our insightful interview with Denmark and Scud. We hope you are inspired!

BANG! @southernvangard #radio presents the ZILLA ROCCA and CHONG WIZARD interview session! This Phildelphia MC and Vancouver DJ/producer have been on their own individual tears the past few years. Zilla with his work with RAY WEST and ALASKA, as well as putting in work with THE WRECKING CREW, which counts CURLY CASTRO, PREMROCK and SMALL PROFESSOR as members. Chong just wrapped up his 6-part INFINITY STONE series and is at the helm of his own record label, with recent physical releases from CHRIS CRACK, LORD JUCO, NAPOLEON DA LEGEND, RANSOM and NICHOLAS CRAVEN. This fall, Zilla and Chong come together for MIDNIGHT SONS, a conceptual album loosely inspired by the comic supergroup of the same name. We talk about the genesis of the project, how features from NATURE, BILLY WOODS, LORD JUCO, CURLY CASTRO, ALASKA, DENMARK VESSEY and PREMROCK came to be and why J-ZONE unknowingly ended up shaping the entire sound of the album. The duo also break down the significance of having MALIK B (RIP) on the record, who unfortunately passed this summer very soon after recording his verse, and how RALPHIIE REESE came through in the clutch to get the verse recorded. You know what it is, Vangardians - so cap off a hectic week with your guys Doe & Meeks, light it up, pour it out ‘cause it’s that #SmithsonianGrade #TwiceAWeek #WeAreTheGard // southernvangard.com // @southernvangard on #applepodcasts #stitcherradio #soundcloud #mixcloud #youtube // #hiphop #rap #undergroundhiphop #boombap #DJ #mix #interview #podcast #ATL #WORLDWIDE #RIPCOMBATJACK Recorded live November 1, 2020 @ Dirty Blanket Studios, Marietta, GA southernvangard.com @southernvangard on #applepodcasts #soundcloud #youtube #spotifypodcast #googlepodcasts #stitcherradio #mixcloud #SmithsonianGrade #TwiceAWeek #WeAreTheGard twitter/IG: @southernvangard @jondoeatl @cappuccinomeeks

The Context of White Supremacy hosts our third study session on Dr. Gerald Horne's biography, Paul Robeson: The Artist As Revolutionary. Dr. Horne holds the Moores Professorship of History and African American Studies at the University of Houston. He's authored a bounty of texts and articles that detail what Racism/White Supremacy is and how it operates globally. His 2016 treatment of Robeson chronicles the latter's illustrious achievements as a linguist, scholar, athlete and entertainer. Robeson used the his enormous bounty of talent to address the problem of Racism. Last week's session detailed some of the marital problems between Paul and his wife Eslanda Robeson. He was substantially darker than she, and was treated better by Whites and other Victims of Racism. Some if their problems were financially related, and Robeson expressed strain about being hounded for taxes on his income. As Robeson's acting career blossomed, he reported feeling more free (less Racist abuse) when he was outside the United States - especially when he played a theater roll that required "intimate" relations with a White actress. Robeson also discussed wanting to bring a performance of Denmark Vessey, a 19th century preacher who attempted a slave insurrection in South Carolina, to the stage. #BlackMisandry #BlackYogi #BlackMalePrivilege INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE 564943#

V Stylez is one of the most known Hip-hop acts from Detroit in Europe. Germany, Japan, France, and Spain have been moving along to the rhythms and lyrics of the V Stylez sound for years. The enthusiast of combat sports, his Fenkell neighborhood, and DePorres HS grad is also a stateman in Black history. 5 ELA’s ‘….will be televised” album (mixtape) RHYME & REASON 1. WE ARE AT WAR (INTRO) produced by Black Milk ……Pretty much we wanted an intro that would set the mood of the entire project. The whole hip hop world was going through turmoil over the N word & Detroit had made an attempt at destroying it by having a funeral. We see how much good that did. 2. PIPEBOMB! produced by Black Milk……This joint was the first song that we recorded for the album. We wanted to make sure that the album was like a wake up call so PIPEBOMB! Was almost like screaming rape or fire in post 911 America. We wanted to make a statement that was just not being made in hip hop right now. 3. 5 fingaz up feat. Finale produced by J Dilla…..Was supposed to go on Dj Sicari’s mixtape but we decided to put it on the album. This song is just about 5 ELA taking it to the world of fakers and fronters. We have Finale on this record, he is one of the best mc’s out of Detroit plus we knew we would have a great chemistry on record. 4. Tantra Masters feat. Batiin of Slum Village produced by Reno Wesley…… Anyone that is familiar with the art of Tantra knows where we are coming from. Its all love and fun. We invited Batiin to get on this joint because he studied Tantra along side us so it was only the right thing to do. 5. Don’t Stop pt. 2 produced by Bee Lee……Thyme solo joint a follow up to the “Yester Years” classic “don’t stop”. 6. I Don’t Mind feat. Marcellus produced by Big Tone…..This is the song about what every guy has to deal with, his woman’s self esteem issue. We want the ladies to know that 5 ELA cares. 7. Right 2 Carry produced by J Dilla……Mudd was obtaining his CCW permit at the time and going to the shooting range a lot. Come to find out, Mudd is pretty good with a firearm…so much so that he became a faster draw with his slow hand…lol 8. Still n Love feat. Marcellus produced by 9th Wonder…..Songs like this take years to make sometimes. You have to process the situation and really get over the relationship emotionally to be able to tell the whole truth and sometimes you can still love the person but know that it will never be. This song is for all of those folks plus 9th Wonder on the beat, instant classic! 9. D State of Mind produced by Denmark Vessey….To set the record straight, I (Mudd) was there the night Proof was murdered & it didn’t happen the way they portrayed it in the media. This song tells you who did it if you listen. Big Proof 4 Ever! 10. Episode II produced by Reno Wesley……Simply put “attack of the clones” all of these rappers just started duplicating whatever was popping at the time and that’s just lazy! Even Detroit got in on it, we started hearing all of these Eminem flow jackers…lol. Detroit is over that now…lol 11. Hater City produced by Nick Speed…..Someone had to say it! Detroit has been a mess for a while and we just thought it was time that we brought it all to the forefront. Like it or not it is all true, do your research and come holla at me! 12. Riot Musik!!! Produced by Black Milk…..Really is the continuation of the “We Are At War” intro. We wanted to make sure that our audience understood line for line what is going on in this country and the world. We gotta get our shit straight or there will be world wide riots! 13. Next On Oprah produced by J Dilla…..Don’t get me started! This song has started controversy everywhere we go. It just sums up the forever struggle for power in male female relationships…..when it comes down to it God law is the only law! Do your research and get at me. 14. 5 ELEMENTZ produced by Big Tone…….This is our group anthem. We all have a verse that expresses each members place in the group and stance on hip hop…..we are the “5 ELEMENTZ”! 15. The Ending Song (BIG PROOF OUTRO)……10minute shout out song. We have never given shout outs & we wanted everyone to know that we have greatly appreciated the support. We have so much more to do and we love Detroit hip hop and what it stands for. As we still feel out our new home we get into some more fun topics. We probably had too much to drink and listened to some great music. On the chopping block this week was a random Detroit joint, Denmark Vessey’s Cult Classic. We also talked about Kanye vs. Sway and much more!

STREAM or DOWNLOAD On this episode of Conspiracy Worldwide Radio, Mista Montana and Menace do this: Harry Fraud returns to discuss his and Eddie B's latest release "Paper, Piff & Polo" as well as his upcoming projects respectively. Perceptive and equally engaging, we explore Paper, Piff & Polo's creation and Eddie B's logical approach in the lab, working with Riff Raff, the criticism behind "Saaab Stories" artwork, Action Bronson's official debut, which will also feature production from Alchemist, Party Supplies and Statik Selektah among others, his forthcoming "Mac & Cheese 4" mixtape with French Montana, new music with Freddie Gibbs and Problem , plans to showcase his range outside of Hip Hop and much more in a genuinely wavey interview. Mr. Muthafu*kin' eXquire takes time out after his BET back room freestyle and grants us access to his first interview in months! We talk recording "Kismet" , his process of removing his brain from his creative process and speaking from the heart, his relationship today with Universal Records, "Lost In Translation" being his angry album, his ritual in which he plays every new song he records on the train and more in a brief but sweet interview. Fresh off the heels of Czarface with 7L and Inspectah Deck, we are joined by Boston Pharaoh Esoteric to discuss his upcoming canvases, which as of the 22nd November will include his latest, namely, “Machete Mode” with Stu-Bangas. We also discuss the upcoming yet to be titled Czarface album, which he reveals he and Deck have completed 10 tracks for so far, a brand new action figure coinciding with its release, Wu Tang's highly anticipated "A Better Tomorrow", the new AOTP album, which he says will be produced by C-Lance, Leafdog, Molemen’s Panik, Stu Bangas among others, his love of sampling, Apathy and Ryu being Freemasons and more! Snowgoons are with us in the form of Illegal to discuss the eagerly awaited sequel to "Black Snow" and the forthcoming Snowgoons album with Onyx entitled "Cuzzo". We also talk the making behind tracks "The Underworld", "Iron Bars", the future of Goon MuSick, forthcoming records with Saigon and R.A The Rugged Man and so much more. We also premiere tracks from the album and discect the story some key features such as Raekwon and Papoose. (DJ) House Shoes joins us from Denmark Vessey and Scud One's "Cult Classic" release party for an update on his label Street Corner's upcoming releases and everything in between. We talk the misconception of him just being "that Dilla guy", how he received the label 'ambassador of Detroit Hip Hop', not making a beat for 2 and a half years, the passing of Proof, Danny Brown's recent Boiler House record release party for "Old", the J Dilla estate and upcoming music in the form of a secret project, a reissue of Danny Brown's "Hot Soup" on vinyl, a collaborative project with Big Tone entitled "Big Shoes", a J Dilla album and much more. Pay attention. Do we believe that religion revolves around us or do we believe that we revolve around religion? These are but 2 questions that Denmark Vessey wants you to question with his and producer Scud One's debut album, “Cult Classic”. Is this an album that stands out as one of this years most ambitious and multi layered releases? Have this emcee and producer partnership created an album that is thoughtful as well as political in its content without sounding unusual and detached from the street? No question. However we had many more questions to ask in an interview with two of Hip Hops recent saviours. Peep it. Detroit favourite Guilty Simpson is with us to explore his consistent output of quality releases lately and discuss his new found passion in producing. He also delivers us an update on the forthcoming Random Axe project, explains Black Milk's process as a producers in making dummy beats, details how his and Small Professor's collaboration with Boldy James for I'm The City manifested itself and more! A pleasure. AND THAT'S NOT ALL! Mista Montana and Menace risk life and limb as they tackle the growing British terror threat posed by clowns that appear in the dark, neon-lit streets and scare innocent people and animals without remorse. What starts as a humble radio broadcast, soon turns to a fight for survival as Hip Hop's most cherished radio duo become surrounded and have to resort to physical running to escape. Nobody wins. ENJOY OUR RHINO!
