Barrett broke his first board! And we chat about all of that!
Contact us via text Tonight we are reflecting on Karnov, an arcade port developed and published by Data East for the NES in North America in January of 1988. Data East was responsible for porting popular arcade games to the NES like Burgertime, Karate Champ and Rampage. Data East seemed to be hell-bent on making circus strongman Jinborov Karnovski, aka “Karnov”, a sort of company mascot by inserting him into other Data East games such as Bad Dudes, where he is the level one boss. Tonight our visiting Deacon is Cornellius Jefferson III. The miNEStry founders, Archbishop Dracul and Father Avram, seek to inspire their 8-bit parishioners through methodical and ceremonial scrutiny of the library of games on the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Gregg Barnett is a 40 year veteran of the gaming industry, having started with porting The Hobbit to the C64, developing the legendary Way of the Exploding Fist, bringing Discworld to computers and today working on high tech VR based training gear for firefighters. Gregg opens up about all the massive shifts in the industry he has witnessed, as well as the good and the bad involved with being a game dev. We end out the year by going hard on going fast through 3D spaces as we talk more about where 3D Sonic is at, and also about the array of interesting 3D time attack platformers coming out inspired by Sonic's spotty but beloved reputation in the third dimension. This is a meaty episode covering a lot of cool indie games, hopefully people check them out, most of them can be found very cheaply on various digital stores!Thank you so much as always for listening, please rate and review the podcast, and tell all your friends on whatever social media you call home that they should check us out. I have a fairly modest game collection, but I almost never "have" time to play them. I keep telling myself I'll play these games one day, like when the kids are older and out of the house, or when I have fewer commitments in my life. I also wonder if this "time" will ever come, and should I just sell all these games and play what I have time for. I have a feeling I know what you guys think about this, but I'd be interested in hearing it. WarriorofWASD I feel this. I have tons of unbeaten games and a wishlist that is just as big. I had to redeem my game time by sticking to motion games (VR and Switch) for exercise and multiplayer with my friends to make it a healthy hobby. Outro Thanks for listening to the RetroLogic Podcast!

MASH THE BUTTONS! That may be the only way that some of us are ever able to pull off that combo! What am I talking about?
