There are several tiers of Turd Night movies and this movie is up on the top shelf. Samurai Cop is an unintentionally hilarious romp full of bad wigs, poorly choreographed fight scenes, and some of the worst ADR dubbing around. But we absolutely LOVED it and we think you will, too! We dive deep this week and talk about the infamous wig, Amir Shervan’s filmmaking career, one and done takes, and who the biggest scene stealer might be between Steve the Cop, the Costa Rican waiter, and the stuffed lion’s head. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/turdnight/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/turdnight/support

In this episode myself and Co host Josh have the honor speaking to Kevin Lockart and B.A. Lewandowski. These two are the master minds behind creating and making such an awesome grind house film. Go get your copy at https://high-on-the-hog-the-movie.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage/products/high-on-the-blu-ray High on the Hog Synopsis Big Daddy is the patriarch of an unconventional family that lives in Council Hill where they work on a hog farm They may not be related by blood, but they'll fight to stay together under any circumstance. However--they are not just family, nor are they just simple hog farmers....they are also growers of high quality marijuana. With the pressure of the DTA government agency coming down on pot distributors around the country, the family must do whatever it takes to keep their crop safe. When a new girl is brought into the fold, the family dynamic and Big Daddy’s crop is threatened in a way he’s never had to face before. And he’ll do anything to protect it. High on the Hog is a grindhouse crime thriller starring horror icon Sid Haig, Joe Estevez, and Robert Z’Dar. Written and Produced by Kevin Lockhart, this exploitation film features some of the most controversial topics of our time: marijuana, dirty cops, and serial killers - all with the fun addition of sex and rock n' roll. A wild ride from start to finish, High on the Hog is an action-packed grindhouse film with heart of gold. You have the right to remain silent forever, maniacs, because we're kicking off three weeks of cop terror with the 1988 William Lustig flick Maniac Cop! We've got it all this week... Bruce Campbell! Tom Atkins! Robert Z'dar! Lots of great genre actors in this one.
After 2 years of doing this podcast, the boys are finally ready to take out their Japanese swords to take on the legendary 'Samurai Cop'. Nicknamed 'The Room of Action Flicks', Johann and Edward prepare to face Robert Z'Dar's chin along with 5 sex scenes, a wig that has a life of its own, all the reshoots and the sheer madness that is this cheap Lethal Weapon clone. But how much can they take? Will the katana gang take down the hero cops? Will our hosts survive till the end? Do we really need that many speedo shots? Robert Z’Dar, Bruce Campbell, William Lustin, Larry Cohen—they’re all exploitation movie legends, and they’re all involved in the over the top schlockfest that we’re covering this week, MANIAC COP 2 (1990). We’re knee deep in October now, so we’re keeping things scary and sticking to this month’s theme ‘Blood, Bullets and Baphomets: An Action Movie Massacre’ by discussing a movie that not only has car chases and shootouts, but also involves a hulking, undead horror movie monster. Also, we complain about how Halloween costumes are starting to get too nerdy, and we reminisce about the worst candy we would get in our trick or treat pillow cases back when we were little shits. This week’s episode is truly a graveyard smash.
Welcome Potato Heads! On tonight’s episode we fall from glory as we are framed for murder and thrown in State Pen., where we must escape and even the score with an evil kingpin in Tango and Cash (1989). http://www.searchforschlock.com/media/podcasts/sfs-159-ManiacCop.mp3 Download MP3 What do you get when Robert Z'Dar plays a zombie cop come back from the dead to mercilessly kill ... well just about anyone? You get Maniac Cop ... and yes it's pretty much what you think it would be. We had a lot of fun with this one though. It's a late 80's thriller-tastic. Chock-full of gritty crime-ridden streets with an overlay of creepy music we've come to love from the era. Also, let's not forget Z'Dar's jaw ... it is a character in itself. Join us and you too can hear James sing his made up Maniac Cop theme. What more could you ask for? Nothing so don't.Original post located at searchforschlock.com.
Matt and Bob welcome guest Jeff Birkenstock to experience 1989's answer to CRANK: YOUNG REBELS! From the director of HOLLYWOOD COP, KILLING AMERICAN STYLE and SAMURAI COP comes a movie about relentless murder, sex, driving, muzzle flashes and a movie not about talking. Have you ever wanted to watch Robert Z'Dar get interrupted during coitus? Do you like protagonists that seem like side characters until they are apparently protagonists? Do you like scenes hinged on the contents of luggage? If yes, then this movie is for you! THE MOVIE ON AMAZON PRIME! THE MOVIE ON YOUTUBE!

This week was Eric's pick. He chose the 2019 exploitation/weed flick "High on the Hog" starring Sid Haig, Ellie Church, Robert Z'Dar and Joe Estevez. Corruption and violence stalk the streets of New York, and only one undead but sometimes living man can deliver justice equally to the good and the bad, indiscriminately killing each and every one of them who stand in his way. In this episode, we discuss just how far that Maniac Cop will go in our Maniac Cop trilogy retrospective.
Yep...we covered Donald G Jackson’s Strippertastic disasterpiece starring Robert Z'dar and Jeff Conoway -- the unreleased workprint o Plus: aWMIT?, a FFF, the FINAL James Best installment, listener feedback, all this and so much more!
We join some murderous punkers who may be named Scratch and Gearbox, (possibly Earbox?) and Robert Z'Dar of Maniac Cop as they go on a killing and kidnap spree, based on a vague rumor of them having money? There's a film within a film...it's like torture porn that's too silly to get upset about...Add in about 50 full minutes of just walking around in the woods, plus two bookends that make no sense and you've got a movie so bad that even Linda Blair wishes it wasn't on her IMDB page. On this Fun Box Monster Podcast, Tristan and Matt talk about what should have been a 23 minute Monsters episode but was instead made into what feels like a 3 hour movie... Grotesque.
http://www.searchforschlock.com/media/podcasts/sfs-144-SamuraiCop.mp3 Download MP3 We've been big fans of improbably-jawed actor Robert Z'Dar at least since we saw him play Russia's greatest warrior in The Final Sanction, which we watched about two and a half years ago. Z'Dar is a prolific film actor, starring in around a half-dozen films a year from the late 80s on, so there are plenty of great works to choose from -- but when it comes to schlock classics, we would have been fools not to select Samurai Cop. Admittedly, Z'Dar isn't the top banana here -- that honor goes to Matt Hannon, a man with beautiful, dark, flowing hair, who -- upon learning that Samurai Cop had achieved cult status, and that fans believed he was probably dead -- revealed himself to be very much alive, and starred in a recent sequel alongside infamous goofball / auteur Tommy Wiseau. But if you're into that kind of tongue-in-cheek garbage, you've come to the wrong podcast! (I haven't seen it, maybe it's fun. You've probably come to the right podcast.)Original post located at searchforschlock.com.

This episode sees the beginning of Pod Sematary's St. Patrick's Day... Holiday... Fortnight? Chris and Kelsey cover St. Patrick's Day and Irish themed horror movies for the next two weeks! First up is the lesser-known horror classic, Maniac Cop from 1988. Bruce Campbell goes chin to chin with Robert Z'Dar! Then it's on to the small Irish isle of Erin Island where the locals have found a unique way to stave off an alien invasion in 2012's Grabbers. And don't forget to come back next week for more St. Paddy frights!
Mark Frazer of “Samurai Cop” drops by the podcast to talk about his new Kickstarter project, "Anti-Hero," and share anecdotes about his "Samurai Cop" co-stars Robert Z'Dar and Mathew Karedas, as well as writer/director Amir Shervan. Cats!”, Kate explains how the noises of popping shrimp may help baleen whales locate zooplankton. In “Cheesy Movie’s We’d Like To See Riffed,” Greg talks about the ‘90s Billy Zane vehicle “The Phantom.” And everyone enthuses about the latest installation from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Black Panther.” And in “A Very Adamant Stance,” Ryan just can’t microwave his frozen TV dinner. Holy Smokes! Phil, Lil, & Graham kick off the Halloween season with a doozy! A maniac in a cop uniform (some would say "maniac cop") stalks the streets of NYC offing innocent people. It's so timely!!! Staring the impressive chins of William Smith, Robert Z'Dar, & Bruce Campbell! The less impressive chin of Tom Atkins leads the investigation into the Maniac Cop and has to fight the greatest villain of all(bureaucracy to get justice! Does he succeed? Tune in to find out!
On this week's episode, the gang finally gets around to a hotly anticipated title, the absolutely fun and ridiculous, Samurai Cop! The final selection in the now-defunct Patreon Selects tier, this D-Grade cult classic features one of the worst wigs in cinema history, no less than five parking lot fight scenes, and several goons on PCP! PLUS: Patrick Stewart and the TNG cast get dragged to the film's big Hollywood "premiere!"Samurai Cop stars Robert Z'Dar, Mathew Karedas (here as Matt Hannon), Janis Farley, Mark Frazier, Melissa Moore, Gerald Okamura, Dale Cummings, Cranston Komuro, and Joselito Rescober as "Costa Rican Waiter"; directed by Amir Shervan. And hey, gang, be sure to catch us this year at the L.A. Podfest, October 6-8. More information is available at www.lapodfest.com!
With a deep stinker cast and the classic script-writing of Larry Cohen, we've got all the elements for an amazingly awesome bad movie. Robert Z'Dar becomes a murderous Frankenstein in pretty nonsensical plot with lots of action and bad acting to boot. In a double plot of framing another cop for murders (without any evidence) and trying to kill the Mayor (who doesn't have a role) and the Commissioner (Richard Roundtree), Maniac Cop fails to achieve both of these things. It also fails to tell a full story. If a story consists of a beginning, a middle and an end, this film appears to be only the middle. The beginning of the story is only told briefly in exposition and a tiny flashback of hardly any new knowledge and then the end of the film appears to be a setup for just the next scene...that doesn't come. It's also pretty difficult to define exactly what Maniac Cop is, not the movie but the character. Is he undead? Or is he just so brain-damaged that he's immune to death? If he's undead, is he a zombie? What the hell is he? Well we figure it out but we're gonna make you listen to the podcast to find out what Maniac Cop actually is. Laurene Landon paves the way as the best bad actress of the year as she struggles to deliver a single line. It's not really her thing though...the acting. So we'll forgive her as she's arguably the biggest riff opportunity of the film. It's got ups and its got downs, slow pacing and fast action. Which may not work for all (one reviewer, Sam, barely gave it a do) but its loaded with enough stinky goodness for all.
Chris tries too hard to make it dirty, Steve pays tribute to the cinematic legend that was Robert Z’Dar, and China has an answer to the Amazon Echo.
This week Bob, Matt and returning guest, musician, professional consultant Jen Tydings pop in a VHS and suffer through a whole lot of hell with HELLHOLE! Listen to these three get dragged away to the basement of this 1985 meandering web of more meandering. Robert Z’Dar and that lady from both ROCK N’ ROLL HIGH SCHOOL movies star in this thriller…er…horror…er…porno…er…thing about a sanitarium that is giving an excessive amount of patients chemical lobotomies whenever they become mildly annoying! Moral of the story: ALWAYS PROTECT YOUR PAPERS.TRAILER!FULL MOVIE!PURCHASE THE REMASTERED SCREAM FACTORY VERSION!
Mullets, bad wigs, gratuitous nudity, token Black partner, 80's synthesizer soundtrack, flubbed lines, and Robert Z'Dar. It can only be our live viewing of Samurai Cop! New drinking game: take a shot every time Joe says "this is terrible". Don't miss it!
Aaaand we’re back. Flippin’ finally! As some of you know, it’s been a rough month here at SCC… but after all the roadtrips, mountain-climbing, and hospital stays (not in that order), we are back and ready for action. We missed bad movies, and we missed every gosh damn one of you! Tom picked the movie this week, and we watched the 1990 action flick, Killing American Style- directed by the one and only Amir Shervan. Tyler stopped by to watch this one with us- making it the third Shervan film we’ve covered on the show, and the second that Tyler has joined us for. Killing American Style stars Robert Z’Dar as hardened criminal, Tony Stone, who -along with his partner, John Lynch- are on their way to prison for a failed heist. When Stone’s brother is shot in the process of helping them escape, they force their way into a nearby home and wait for help. The only problem is that the house belongs to all-American bad-ass/80s fashion victim, John Morgan. Morgan comes out strong but essentially becomes their errand boy for the entire movie, until finally he gets fed up and decides to unleash some good ol’ fashioned American whoop-ass on everyone! Hurray! We discuss the obvious parallels between this and Shervan’s other films, including his bizarre perspective on American culture. We also discuss watermelon etiquette, bizarre set “design”, and lack of a solid goon game in this flick. We’re back!
http://searchforschlock.com/media/podcasts/sfs-105-FinalSanction.mp3 Download MP3 Having watched Mr. David A. Prior's tour de force Sledgehammer on this podcast ... and having been witness to his earlier masterpieces like Aerobicide and Deadly Prey. We obviously felt it was time to dive back in to another of the mans master works. To once again remind us of why it is we do what we do. Starring the visionary directors hunky brother (Ted Prior) in the lead ... and adding the gravitas of one Robert Z'Dar ... we're brought to the pinnacle of low budget action b-movies! So I'm probably overselling it but what can I say ... action movie tropes with cheesy dialogue ... Russians ... explosions ... happy ending Three's Company freeze frame!. Throw in some die hard line ripoffs and I give you The Final Sanction!Original post located at searchforschlock.com.

The guys examine not only the last action movie of the 1980's but the very last movie of the 1980's, EVER. In what should be CLIMAX'S finest hour with our first-ever Kurt Russell movie, Sylvester Stallone at the height of his powers, and a double dose of evil from Jack Palance and James Hong, instead the show is almost torn apart by the very existence of GUNBOOT. Also, Kyle learns a lot about himself and how he's been affected by Robert Z'Dar and his awful/amazing chin.

Dragonfight (1990) might be the most alum-packed episode we’ve ever had. Robert Z’Dar takes on a guy named Falchion in some kind of gladiator combat for the pleasure of megacorporations in the middle of the desert in the distant future of 1990. Trust us, it makes even less sense in the actual movie. Second half Harlo dives into […]
Brimpin aint easy as the hilarious Chip Zdarsky drops on by to talk to Wendi. They discuss the overwhelming popularity of he and writer Matt Fraction's "Sex Criminals", how to organically build a fanbase (the Brimpers), writing a comic that balances sexiness and heart, and why Robert Z'Dar did not appear at Zdarscon. This month Chip's run writing "Howard the Duck" begins at Marvel, so go check that out!

This week on Alcohollywood, Nick Ostrem joins us once more to talk the surprising cult film Samurai Cop, the recently-unearthed 1991 action-comedy starring Robert Z’Dar and Matt Hannon! The film tells the incomprehensible tale of bug-eyed karate cop Joe Samurai (Matt Hannon), his aloof partner (Mark Frazer), and their attempts to break down the evil Japanese Katana gang. Samurai Cop is a whirlwind of laughable acting, stilted dialogue, stunningly bad cinematography and more untouched boobs than you can shake a stick at. Still, we’ve got you covered with our custom cocktail and drinking rules! (If you need more information on just what the hell Samurai Cop is, the Red Letter Media interviews with Matt Hannonhimself provide some desperately required context for the film’s unique madness.) ANNOUNCEMENT: We’ve got a Twitter contest coming up too! Tweet @alcohollywood or email clint@alcohollywood.comwith the subject line ‘HORRIBLE BOSSES 2 CONTEST’ and tell us your favorite ‘boss’ in film history, and you may be chosen to win a prize pack of swag and promotional passes to see Horrible Bosses 2! Entries are restricted to within the United States, and the contest ends Tuesday, December 2nd, so hurry up and send us your picks!
A deranged ex-cop is going around killing innocent people and frames Bruce Campbell (Jack Forrest) for the whole thing. A stellar performance by Tom Atkins a no nonsense detective really brings this film home. Bruce ain't bad either.
We are BACK! And that means grindhouse horror movies featuring Robert Z'Dar and Bruce Campbell! Yup just in time for Gonzoween, we start our trek toward gonzo scary movies. Are you a cop?
In this week's episode, the gang takes to the streets with zombie police officer, Matt Cordell, in the final part of the classic? trilogy, Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence! How did the movie get away with recycling this much footage? How is Maniac Cop selecting his victims? And how is there so little Maniac Cop in the film? Plus: Maniac Cop meets the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence stars Robert Davi, Robert Z'Dar, Caitlin Dulany and Gretchen Becker; directed by William Lustig.
