As the holiday season ramps up, we here at Scanline are prepared for a yearly ritual: playing all the games that we feel like we should have an opinion on before we record the Gimmick Awards, our yearly Game of the Year (and more than game) awards. That makes this the last stop of us just chatting normal games before we dizzy ourselves with our obligations as critics. To that end, Jen has been mourning the loss of a rival in F1 2023, Six has been modding Metal Gears on Steam Deck, and Kyrie wanted to see what's so remade about the Super Mario RPG Remake. Plus, we've all got thoughts on the 25th Anniversary Update for Half-Life. In chronological order, our music is 8bit23 by Koichi Morita, The 23 Enigma by Ian & Ethan Livingstone featuring Julie Seechuk from F1 23, the Steam Deck startup sound, Nuclear by Mike Oldfield from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Calling to the Night by Natasha Farrow with lyrics by Nobuko Toda, composed by Akihiro Honda, and arranged by Norihiko Hibino from Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, In The Garden by Yoko Shimamura from Super Mario RPG Remake, Hazardous Environments by Kelly Bailey from Half-Life, and then a reprise of 8bit23 by Koichi Morita. You can find us on Cohost and Twitter at @jen-and-aster and @jbu3 for Jen respectively, @KyriePage and @KyrieAPage for Kyrie respectively, and @sixdettmar for Six on both.

In June 2018, we began interviewing five of the people responsible for audio in Half-Life: Alyx from Valve Corporation. The Audio in Half-Life: Alyx introduces you to each person involved in the creation of sounds in the game, and highlights their individual roles for bringing the game to life. Mike Morasky wrote the music for Half-Life: Alyx. Roland Shaw made audio for the creatures and monsters, and for all of the physics objects like matchboxes and lockers and footsteps. Dave Feise did the ambiences, UI sounds, and some of the tools like the Combine fabricator and the hacking puzzles. Emily Ridgway wrote and processed the dialog from the Combine soldiers, and designed the speakers that float alongside a player's ears on Valve's VR Index headset. Lakulish Antani co-invented Steam Audio, a tool for game developers to make environments and the objects in them react with realistic sound. All of the source audio for this documentary is available to patrons of Level with Emily. The source audio includes seven interviews with Mike Morasky, four interviews with Roland Shaw, four interviews with Dave Feise, three interviews with Emily Ridgway and three interviews with Lakulish Antani. Level with Emily Reese would like to thank Mike Morasky for this incredible opportunity and experience, and to Lakulish Antani, Dave Feise, Emily Ridgway, and Roland Shaw for the conversations, and to Valve for allowing it all to happen. Thank you to Nick Marinelli for transcription, to Nick and Chase Bethea for their feedback, and to producer Sam Keenan. Gordon Freeman, G-Man, ikonické zvuky a... hudba? Jarda Konáš přináší rozbor jejího vlivu na vyprávění legendárního Half-Life a Half-Life 2! Ruku v ruce s tím představí i profil Kellyho Baileyho, který se na hře podepsal více, než byste u běžného skladatele čekali. Série Half-Life je fenomén sám o sobě.

Welcome back to Dancing in the Kitchen Podcast! I met Kelly Bailey a couple years ago in a local networking group and trust me, you will fall in love with her! She’s funny, she’s so full of life, very active, she’s gorgeous, and did I say she’s funny? In this conversation we talk about her #thefunnyfitnesstrainer and how it came to be, the impact it’s had on her personal and business life, and how she deals with stress through humor. We talk about the silver linings in hard times, our shared love around travel and taking a food trip, her balanced eating habits, intermittent fasting, eating disorders, and the relationships we should have with food. She is a great trainer/coach and she helped me personally lose 15 lbs. in her IF coaching group which has made me feel great. She is such a light and has such a great energy about her. If you’d like to learn more about Intermittent Fasting, balanced, intentional eating and fitness... then I highly recommend you follow Kelly at #thefunnyfitnesstrainer, or on her Facebook page Kelly Bailey Fitness, or check out her website: kellybailey.fit (that’s www.kellybailey.fit) and stay up-to-date on her upcoming programs and services. Dr. Bailey is a pediatric oncologist with an interest in pediatric sarcomas. During this episode of the Sam’s On Fire podcast, host Sam Livingston, business coach, and realtor, talks to Kelly Bailey, wellness coach at Kelly Bailey Wellness. Bailey shares about her journey from being a personal trainer focused on fitness and nutrition, to a wellness coach that helps clients transition away from dieting using mindful eating practices. This conversation explores how Bailey’s business shifted as she uncovered her passion for mindful eating. With this refined approach, she feels new excitement about her work and is able to attract the right clientele. Episode Highlights: Kelly Bailey began her career as a fitness coach and personal trainer. When she found that many of her clients needed help with their eating habits, she became a certified health coach with a basis in holistic nutrition. Bailey guided clients through a variety of fad diets. As she thought about her own struggles with binge eating, she realized that traditional dieting was making the problem worse.Talking the talk, but not walking the walk, in your business is ultimately not sustainable.Bailey was tired of teaching specific diets and even bored by guiding clients through these programs. When Bailey shifted her business to focus on intuitive eating and mindful eating practices, she found a true passion for her work.Shifting the focus in your business to better align with your passion can dramatically change how much you enjoy your work. Finding this passion makes Bailey genuinely excited to wake up in the morning and get started with the day. When you find what makes you feel passionate about your business, you’re able to see clearly what you’re doing that isn’t sustainable. Bailey used to post pictures of herself in a bathing suit. With her new emphasis on wellness, that’s no longer a part of her marketing strategy. When you realize something you’re practicing is unsustainable, you no longer want to teach others that unsustainable practice. You want to show them a better way. When passion is in place, fear can be replaced by excitement.Bailey renamed her business to reflect the shift in her mindset. Bailey knows exactly the type of client she can best serve. It’s a mistake to believe that everyone is the client for you. Avoiding a scarcity mindset will help you ultimately attract the right clientele for your business. In any service industry, it’s a good idea to choose the right clients. When you start working with the wrong people, you start building the wrong clientele. You need to have clients that are going to carry out what you’re telling them to do.When Bailey meets prospective clients that aren’t a good fit, she now refers them to other coaches who are better suited to them. Passion guides her client selection. Your success depends upon the passion you have with the people you’re working with. Build clientele that you know, like, and trust. 3 Key Points:When you find what makes you feel passionate about your business, your work becomes more enjoyable and even exciting. If you provide passion, you will attract the right clientele for your business. Believing you can serve every client is an unsustainable mindset. If you take the wrong clients, you acquire the wrong clientele. Portal came out of nowhere in 2007 as an innovative action puzzler that quickly became one of the best games to come out in recent years. It was time to make a slight shift in the Musicast format and do game from this console generation. I couldn't think of a better games soundtrack to feature than Portal. Portal: Composers, Kelly Bailey and Mike Morask. "Still Alive," was written by Jonathan Coulton. Portal II: Composers Mike Morasky. “Want you Gone” by Jonathan Coulton I hope you enjoy the ambient techno sounds from the series. This is defiantly music that you can just kick back and put on as background music as you grind your way through your day job. I know that's what I'll be doing. Please take a moment to leave your comments below and let us know what you think of the new Musicast series and don't forget to send us in your requests for game soundtracks you would like us to feature. We hope you enjoy listening to the show. You can also subscribe to the podcast via iTunes
