Grab some coffee and listen to an interview with Ms. Alexis Montague, an assistant professor in Public Health at Langston University, as we talk about a great idea she learned on using photos in class research, and why attending a professional conference is beneficial for her and for students. We have had fewer podcasts as the software changed, and some of our "part two" files need to be recreated. I hope to get that issue resolved!

In this episode, I am using the Google Notebook LM podcast feature that Mr. Ralph Grayson shared at our Spring 2025 Faculty Institute in January. You will hear the music jump on when it is the AI voices as they discuss an OER pdf shared with the faculty by Ms. Caitlin Corbett, the Director of University Libraries at Langston University, and some resources that I added in as an instructional designer about Canvas Commons and Oklahoma Council of Online Learning Excellence resources. The AI processed the documents and created a conversation. They sound human, but they are not. They say "we" as though they are human beings who teach and work with us; they do not. In fact, they picked up on my LU Monday Moment podcast closing (Happy Teaching!) without knowing anything except my prompt. It took multiple prompts to get to this analysis; it is not a simple feed it information and go when it is for an audience. However - it feels amazing to listen to it! I did prompt it to clarify that it is AI and not human as a best practice. We have new music from our Adobe Stock Collection - this audio is called Free YourMind Loop and is AdobeStock 676139738 for attribution .
I officially relocated to Guthrie in the seventh grade, a place that has always felt like home due to my grandparents residing here. My formative years were enriched by spending significant time in Guthrie during holidays, family gatherings, and church activities. I graduated from Guthrie High School in 1996 and subsequently earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Langston University. Throughout my career, I have worked in various fields, primarily centered around education. My professional experience extends to public relations, graphic design, and marketing/sales. Most recently, I held the position of Instructional Developer at Oklahoma State University while also pursuing my passion as a restaurateur. In 2022, I followed my passion and established C+C Eatery alongside my brother, Jerry. Our goal was to introduce a new culinary option to our community. This decision marked the beginning of an exciting new journey, and the unwavering support and encouragement from my family have been instrumental in driving our success. The greatest joy of my life is my daughter, a remarkable 14-year-old who is intelligent, talented, and beautiful. She has been a significant asset to our business, witnessing firsthand the journey of transforming ideas and dreams into reality. I take pride in providing her with a close and personal example of goal-setting and achievement. Together, we enjoy shopping, exploring new culinary experiences, traveling, and attending concerts. I look forward to continued success with C+C Eatery and the opportunity to share this journey with her. In this episode, we welcome Dr. Telesa Hart, Chiropractor and Burnout Coach, to help us to explore self-care strategies we can use to regulate our central nervous system. Your central nervous system includes your brain and your spinal cord. It plays a role in everything you do, and helps you to move, think, and feel. The central nervous system carries your body through its ‘rest and digest' functions as well as ‘fight or flight.' When experiencing different forms of stress, your central nervous system may move out of its healthy functioning state to a dysregulated state, which may contribute to disease and other mental and physical challenges. When considering many of the stressors Black women face, it's not uncommon to experience dysregulation in this way. This is why Dr. Hart encourages listeners to integrate a regular self-check into your daily wellness practice. She provides a brief overview of the functions of the central nervous system, and provides examples of symptoms and signs that may indicate that our system is overloaded. She shares practical self-care activities we can use to regulate our central nervous system, and also provides insight on when we may need to contact a professional medical provider for support. Dr. Hart describes the link between burnout and central nervous system dysregulation, sharing her own powerful story of burnout and how she overcame a very difficult moment in her life that inspired her work today. About Dr. Telesa Hart Dr. Telesa Hart is a passionate chiropractor and burnout coach, dedicated to promoting wellness and nervous system regulation. Born in Ft. Benning, GA, and raised in Germany, Dr. Hart brings a unique perspective to her practice, currently based in Atlanta, GA. Originally named the Colored Agricultural and Normal University, the institution's mission encompassed the education of both male and female students in areas such as agriculture, mechanics, and industrial arts.
