Beginning his midcareer transition into increasingly edgy roles, Stewart portrays an avenging sharpshooter whose stolen rifle becomes a harbinger of death as it is passed from one doomed hand to the next. Featuring a stellar cast that includes a touching Shelley Winters, a sensationally sleazy Dan Duryea, and a pre-stardom Rock Hudson, this elemental tale of violence begetting violence broke new ground with its evocation of the West as a no-man's-land of antiheroes and villains.4K UHD + BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURESNew 4K digital restoration, undertaken by Universal Pictures in collaboration with The Film Foundation, with uncompressed monaural soundtrackOne 4K UHD disc of the film and one Blu-ray with the film and special featuresAudio commentary featuring actor James Stewart and film historian Paul LindenschmidtNew interview with film programmer Adam Piron on the portrayal of Native Americans in the western genreForces of Nature: Anthony Mann at Universal, a program on a key chapter in the director's careerLux Radio Theatre adaptation of the film from 1951TrailerEnglish subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearingPlus: An essay by critic Imogen Sara SmithNew cover by Gregory ManchessScout Tafoya - Buy THE BLACK BOOK hereScout Tafoya is a film critic, video essayist, filmmaker, and author of Cinemaphagy: On The Psychedelic Classical Form of Tobe Hooper, the first book-length critical study of the director of "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre." On this episode J-Bunny is joined by Charlie Greaves, Ely Ingling, and Jarl Bergman to discuss the first leg of the Trinity of Terror Tour. They discuss how they discovered each of the bands on the tour (Lilith Czar, Black Veil Brides, Ice Nine Kills, and Motionless in White), and what they thought of each band upon discovery. They also discuss the actual tour, Charlie and Jarl's experience meeting Jake Pitts and Jinxx from Black Veil Brides after the band's set, getting Jake's stage-worn vest that has since become Charlie's battle vest, and also discuss what other bands may be a fitting opening act for another leg of the tour. They also compare each band's setlist for the Trinity tour to their setlist from their previous show in the area, and go track-by-track on both of the Silver Scream albums to discuss which of the movies we've seen. Finally, they discuss the intensity of being in a crowd, bumping into people, and witnessing/experiencing mosh pits and crowd surfing. Podcast intro "Rock Intro 3" courtesy of audionautix.com. Sh. Hannah shares an important lesson she learned on the day her husband was ordained a deacon.
Lilith Czar arrives with the force of an otherworldly thunder, arising in visceral rebirth from an untimely grave of surrender and sacrifice. Her voice is the sound of supernatural determination, summoned with a confessional vulnerability and unapologetic authenticity. The girl who was Juliet Simms - her dreams discouraged and dismissed, her identity confined and controlled - is no more. In her place stands Lilith Czar, a new vessel forged in unbridled willpower and unashamed desire. Her motivation is simple: if it's truly "a man's world"? She wants to be King. Created from Filth and Dust, the debut album from Lilith Czar, is an evocative invitation into her bold new world. It's aggressive music with warm accessibility; huge hooks with driving hard rock—the new larger-than-life icon channels the fierce combativeness of Fiona Apple and Stevie Nicks' seductive witchery. Lilith Czar arms herself with sonic power, theatricality, and confidence. It's a sound where the pulse of Nine Inch Nails, Halestorm's songcraft, and the libertine spirit of David Bowie converge, all in service of a ritualistic ache for a more just and equitable world. Lilith Czar is more than music. Her songs - like "King", "Bad Love", and "100 Little Deaths". – are anthems. She sounds both larger than life and hauntingly intimate, baring all in the ballad "Diamonds to Dust" or unleashing hell with the banshee wail of "Feed My Chaos." As much as Lilith Czar's music is perfectly suited for modern rock radio, it's simultaneously timeless. Thanks in no small part to Czar's rich voice, Created from Filth and Dust wouldn't sound out of place in any significant rock era. "I know who I am now, completely,” the singer declares. “I've found my purpose, creating art to inspire others to stand up for what they believe, to fight for their dreams, and to never give up.” She summarizes the Lilith Czar origin story like this: “When you find yourself beaten down by the world, in those times you can either let it destroy you or let it create you.” Created from filth and dust, destined to be King… Lilith Czar. We have seen countless clients navigate this, and we have one of those clients with us today! This week, we are being joined by Kristen Elliot, a client since 2016 who quickly became a close friend. She has experienced first-hand the troubles of navigating a narcissistic relationship, the red-flags of a narcissist, and the little deaths inside that allow us to move past it. Today's episode was primarily inspired by a short clip I heard of Rich Roll interviewing a farmer with a primary concern for preservation and respect of life. Rich and John's conversation made a strong backdrop for my own thoughts to play out about whether respect is scalable at all, what does harm reduction look like in action - in our daily and personal lives, in our inner worlds. Somewhere between my bath tub and the worms in Tibet, I think you'll find something interesting and useful. Thanks for being present with me for this one! A Thousand Little Deaths is a story molded from experience and thrown into verse. For many, poetry is a method of healing, a method of activism, a method of releasing all the pain you've held inside of you in a single burst. Laura LeMoon offers us this brief chapbook of her life in an attempt to share a journey not many are familiar with, taking on existential issues such as death and how absurd life can be when it throws the impossible at you. It's a test of endurance, throwing readers into a world most have probably only seen through television or stereotyped novels. It's a hard read. It's an essential read. And the moment you open up it's pages, LeMoon's words will go right for your gut, sending you spiraling as you move along with her journey. Things are getting bleaker, sexualized and more punk rock with this episode. Chris had the older film this go 'round and chose Abel Ferrera's arthouse shocker The Driller Killer. There's a lot going on in this film including one of the grossest pizza eating scenes in recent history. Oh the peppers. Justin, on a different note, picked one short film out of the anthology Little Deaths for his newer movie-Simon Rumley's Bitch. It's bleak, it's sad, it's sexual, and it has dogs. Chris loved it just for the dogs. Hit the fridge, grab a cold one, follow the podcast, and enjoy April's fun offering.

Show Notes: On this episode I talk to Little Deaths creator and Texas transplant - David Doub. David is the founder of Dusk Comics. His numerous publications include Dusk, Miss Tilney, Forever, Mystery Masque, and the upcoming Little Deaths. According to the interwebs, "La petite mort" (the little death), is an expression which means "the brief loss or weakening of consciousness" and in modern usage refers specifically to "the sensation of post orgasm as likened to death." The term "la petite mort" does not always apply to sexual experiences. It can also be used to describe a weakening or loss of consciousness, specifically in sleep, or when some undesired thing has happened to a person and has affected them so much that "a part of them dies inside." The Little Deaths we'll be investigating today is a 30 page full color historical fantasy adventure comic, written by David Doub and featuring art by Andrew Herman and Paul Maitland. It's based on the French historical figure Julie d'Aubigny (also known as known as Mademoiselle Maupin or La Maupin) who lived A LOT from (1670–1707). She was a duelist, popular opera singer, and apparently was not only known to dress like a man, but could kick the crap out of them in duels, too. The Kickstarter campaign for this project will launch Monday, March 15th, 2021 and will have with a spectacular cast of guest artists for special perks. Need your fix of violent, cruel, psycho-sexual horror? Then this is the episode for you! On this week's episode of Certified Forgotten, Matthew Monagle and Matt Donato are joined by another Matt, Matt Barone, to discuss the oft-overlooked 2011 anthology horror film Little Deaths.
“How do I let go?” is the most frequently asked question of host, Christina Pratt, when she facilitates clients in the release of the old self and the awakening of the new. Winter is the time of stripping away the old and resting in the long, dark nights. This fall we discussed moving beyond good and evil, looking past sin to focus on destiny, and the Essence energies of Gratitude, Faith, and the Return—all to stir up the comfortable patterns of the self—so now what? Now we need to strip away all we have found within our selves that no longer serves us and surrender that energy to the winter fire. But, how? This week we will discuss how we can allow these little deaths, and with the gifts of self revealed within, to lay the path to rejuvenating an authentic life. In this way we can find the pleasure in our imperfect lives, the lost gifts of self that awaken the heart, and joy in the cultivation of a deepening relationship with our self.

Cole Imperi was not your typical nineteen year old. While most of her peers were watching television and going to parties, Cole was studying biblical Hebrew and learning about grief. In her late twenties, a devastating assault pushed Cole, not toward isolation or destruction, but toward radical acceptance and unabashed forgiveness. At thirty, with a bright purple curl proudly perched atop her forehead, one might expect to see Cole anywhere but teaching yoga or blazing a bold, new trail in the field of thanatology. Tune into Arian s interview with Cole and find out how this deathcare dynamo is changing the way we think, feel, and talk about life s ultimate uncertainty. (November 29, 2015) In the believing heart there is little room for anxiety and fear. Though the little deaths that come to us all bring darkness for a time, there is a light that grows brighter the nearer we march toward the end of time. The Advent wreath reminds us of that in a gentle yet powerful way. One candle, two, three, and four… then Jesus arrives calmly and quietly in a silent night so brightly illuminated by God’s grace that the world sings of angels and hope and new birth.Download Transcript

If you want to really live, you have die to self a million times in a million ways.
