Tom Ohmer, fellow veteran and talented actor… That is how I would define this magnificent person with a great personality. We talked about his role as ‘Warden Moss' in the movie and what it was like to work on set and act alongside Sean Patrick Flannery. To film a movie in an actual functioning prison must have rattled some nerves. But in this case, it seems all of the actors were well protected and safe from the environment. Tom Ohmer seems to be the better actor when it comes to being chosen and I can see why. Being a veteran, it's not hard to memorize lines and show self-discipline. He was chosen because the director recognized Tom's talent immediately and I don't think anyone could have portrayed Warden Moss better. I cannot stress enough how intense this movie is! For starters, I am sure the actors had to prepare themselves by getting into the right headspace. It's a psychological thriller with some religious aspects, the defining moments are there. For those who have not seen it, it is available for streaming on demand on Amazon. I highly recommend that you give it a watch if you're looking for a mind melt. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/southjerseyhorror/message

Is Troy a good filmmaker? Was the documentarty better than the film? Was there more drama onscreen or off? DO we need sequels? Years before the countless, big budget Star Wars shows streaming today on Disney+, LucasFilm's first foray into live action television debuted on ABC, only this didn't feature a Galaxy far, far away… Instead we were gifted a expansive, adventurous, high quality episodic series featuring the Adventures of a Young Indiana Jones. It's hard to understate the scope of this show. For network television in the early 90s, almost nothing compares to the movie quality adventures we were gifted over the course of two seasons. Somehow, this show has been mostly forgotten and is vastly under-celebrated. Not only was The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles a technical marvel, featuring early experimental technology that would later be used on the Star Wars Prequels, but Young Indy also featured very well written and compelling stories, great acting featuring the star himself Sean Patrick Flannery as Young Indy, as well as cameos by young actors, Catherine Zeta Jones, Elizabeth Hurley, Daniel Craig and even a cameo from Harrison Ford as the Indy we all grew to love during the original films and lastly episodes directed by notable directors such as Frank Darabont. Please join Spencer and Wesley as they revisit this forgotten relic in anticipation for the release of Indiana Jones and Dial of Destiny this June and our review of all the films this #IndianaJune

Directors Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman join Matthew Pejkovic on the Matt's Movie Reviews Podcast to talk about their new film 'Nefarious', a supernatural thriller that stars Sean Patrick Flannery as a demonically possessed murderer awaiting execution, who in his final hours tries to convince a non-believing psychiatrist (Jordan Belfi) into delivering his manifesto to the world. 'God's Not Dead' Filmmakers Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman Talk Their New Film 'Nefarious' in Theaters Friday, April 14, 2023. 'Nafarious' Tag Line: On the day of his scheduled execution, a convicted serial killer gets a psychiatric evaluation during which he claims he is a demon, and further claims that before their time is over, the psychiatrist will commit three murders of his own. Known for their 'God's Not Dead' franchise, filmmakers Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman face off with the devil in their latest thriller, 'Nefarious' starring Jordan Belfi as psychiatrist Dr. James Martin and Sean Patrick Flannery as the serial killer who identifies himself by the name Nefarious. Shot in a little over two weeks, the 'Nefarious' faced some supernatural events during the short shooting schedule. Belfi became a father 30-minutes before filming began, their exorcist priest who was to bless the set nearly died on set and a whole host of other demonic entities were trying to stop the production of this movie from being completed. However, Solomon and Konzelman remained true to their faith and forced forward continuing with the movie based on the novels by Steve Deace, 'A Nefarious Plot', which was released in 2016, and 'A Nefarious Carol', released in 2020. Playing out like a stage play, 'Nefarious' challenges the viewers own nihilistic ideologies as Dr. Martin must come to terms with the notion that evil may truly exist and that something can be the cause of it besides man's own human tendencies. Solomon and Konzelman discuss how 'Nefarious' could transition into a stage page after its initial theatrical run in nearly 1,000 theaters, opening on Friday, April 14, 2023 on the Julian Calendar Good Friday, still used by the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Churches. 'Nefarious' is a film that does not preach to the audience. What it does allow for is a dialogue on the topic of good and evil to be discusses between its viewers. Follow 'Nefarious' on Twitter @NefariousMovie_ and on Instagram @nefariousmovie. Visit their official website at whoisnefarious.com and purchase tickets via the website nefarioustickets.com. #NefariousMovie #GodsNotDead #Interview #FaithBasedFilm

Boondock Saints was a movie that dudes in the late 90s/early 2000's worshipped. But Mike White (@proboothpodcast) says the wool is over everyone's eyes. According to him, the story of the religious hitmen in Boston is more grating than the Boston accent. Do KG and KI return to their love for this film while wearing metal or puka shell necklaces and rocking the Caesar haircuts? Hunter's Moon is a rather entertaining horror film with a twist that genuinely surprised this viewer. Caissie is also set to debut the web series he developed and co-directed for PopStar! TV today, July 9th. Entitled Purgatory and filmed in Armenia, the show is about a group of strangers who are invited to a mysterious New Year's Eve party which could have deadly consequences for them all. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/brett-hickman/support
The world seemed difficult enough back in late April when I interviewed Don Shanahan of Every Movie Has a Lesson for #thedeliciousstory. But now in June things have gotten hotter still, so I offer you a reprieve from the news with this episode. Sit back and enjoy. Don believes that every film—epic or contained, big-budget or small—has lessons to impart about life. And once you meet Don, you'll discover how he came to this belief. Teacher, spouse, and dad by day, Don has worked more than a decade at the craft as a movie reviewer and become a respected resource for those who want to know which films are worth their time. Admittedly, even as a movie fan myself, the idea that every film has life wisdom to extoll tickled my cynical tendencies. But in the end, Don had me convinced, and I bet you will be, too. He'll also have you thinking about how movies are an essential tool, as they're the most consumed art form on the planet. START WITH THE INDISPUTABLE ÉCLAIRIt was good fortune discovering Don by way of an article that ranked influential movie reviewers (where he registered high on the list). Don's work is what earned him that respect because he knows his stuff. To say that Don's writing is stellar is not enough. His descriptions of movies deftly delve in with robust insights of the craft and those who make the magic happen. I'll point to one example in his review of the The Two Popes, which aired on Netflix in late 2019. Don certainly covers the plot, the quality of the direction, and cinematography impressively. Then he focuses in and speaks almost poetically of some of the lessons one can consider by watching the film. I love Don's description at one point when he details the drama manifested in the process, which culminates in the selection of a new pope. “Something like the tedious election of the conclave to select a new Pope becomes a staccato milieu of amplified pen clicks, creased paper, dropped bingo balls, and clanging furnace doors. Built as a play of hopscotching through decades, McCarten's narrative builds big decision suspense nearly on par with a sports movie's swell to get a victory.” I'll just say here that his talent calls me to strive in my use of words in a piece! And if you've ever held a dream to build something outside your day job (like Don did), then you'll appreciate his story of turning this part-time gig into a substantial space where thousands turn to him for his opinions about movies. Since we talk memorable meals here on #thedeliciousstory, I asked Don to discuss a film he finds notable for both its lessons and the use of food. I was initially surprised by his choice of Simply Irresistible starring Sarah Michele Gellar and Sean Patrick Flannery. However, in short order, Don made his case for the film, and now I want to see it again soon. See if you don't agree with Don. By the time Don chatted about the eclairs, which are featured prominently in the movie, I was craving for one myself. If you want to try your hand at making a version similar to those served up by Sarah Michele's character, this recipe over at Tasty Kitchen claims to be much the same (except filed with caramel rather than chocolate). WHEN PASSION IS YOUR GUIDEI never tire of talking with people who reach for something and create. Don's story of consistently building his chops in writing and reviewing to later become a noteworthy critic of films is inspiring. In recent years, Don has worked with others to help bring diversity to the voices of movie reviewers in the industry, and talks about the work of Chicago Indie Critics in particular. I was also surprised to learn how Rotten Tomatoes movie ranking system works, of which Don's reviews are factored into the ranking. He is also a contributor for 25yearslater.com, where films that have hit their 25-year anniversary are discussed. As an aside, I'm shocked by how much time has passed when I consider that two of my favorite films—Forrest Gump and Shawshank Redemption —have just reached their 25-year milestone. Since each was released, I've made it a point to watch both at least once a year. FOOD IN THE MOVIESAt the time of this interview, going out to the theater wasn't an option, and we delved into how things might change for a time—or permanently—as far as the movie theater experience. But most of us do love movies and have access to them through so many portals now that we're still able to watch and enjoy. In fact, in the face of the temporarily-closed theaters, I even talked about my frustration with too many options. I spend more time looking for a film rather than watching them. They call this “choice paralysis.” Don offered up the helpful resource of justwatch.com. Check out what he has to say about how it works during the show. We discussed some of the iconic films which feature food as a primary character, too. You can listen to the podcast to see if you recognize the movies. What ones would you add to the list? Please share your comments with us!Films take us to places outside of our personal experience and allow us to view the world from a different perspective. We escape, we transcend, we laugh and cry. And in between all the vicarious living, we pick up nuggets of wisdom, too. It's not a bad way to spend about 90 minutes of time when you consider all that is returned. Here is the link to Don's latest reviews so you can ponder what you might watch next.
The social distancing movement is underway, and during this time for the absence of racing, eKartingNews has launched a new program for social media and the EKN Radio Network - Face2Face. The show is broadcasted live over Facebook, with the audio version making its way to the only 24 hour / 7 days a week radio station. A special guest joined Rob Howden for the sixth episode, America’s Funniest Home Videos host Alfonso Ribeiro. The longtime actor spent a handful of years karting at the top level of the sport. The two discuss his time racing against some of the best at the time, including fellow actors Sean Patrick Flannery and Mark Paul Gosselaar.
Welcome to another episode of Don’t Be Crazy! Here we discuss and dissect what makes a film (past or present) absolutely amazing or a pile of rubbish. All that we ask of each other is don’t be crazy. South Boston is full of criminals and apparently only the McManus brothers can clean this city. The Boondock Saints (1999) gained cult classic status after an abysmal box office opening. Troy Duffy's film tackles various themes of capital punishment as we are taken on a journey of religion and righteousness. The movie stars Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flannery, Willem Dafoe, and Billy Connolly. Take a listen and don’t forget to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. Have questions or comments?
