In this action-packed episode of the Experience Milwaukee podcast, we kick things off with John Blust from Visit Milwaukee delivering the scoop on this month's can't-miss events – from Mother's Day festivities to the metal-meets-birds contrast of Milwaukee Metal Fest and the Brew City Birding Festival! Then, tech guru Peter High from Metis Strategy drops knowledge bombs about AI's future and shares how "infinite interns" might just be the perfect analogy for understanding today's tech revolution. Our newest Hometown Voices segment partner, Habush Habush & Rottier, gives us the inside story on personal injury law with some wild examples (jet ski injuries – who knew?). We wrap with an electrifying conversation with the legendary voice of the Milwaukee Admirals, Aaron Sims, who'll make you want to rush to Panther Arena on Sunday, May 11th to catch playoff hockey at its finest – even if you've never watched a game before!Experience Milwaukee is presented by Summerfest and Crescent 9 THC Seltzers and our official beer partner is New Barons Brewing Cooperative. Thanks for listening.Love you, Milwaukee.

Darion Lorina discussed his work with Jani Lane, Zakk Wylde, and his new project, Dark Chapel. He recorded much of his album at home, using a Les Paul, JCM 800, and Marshall 412. He emphasized the importance of preamps and microphones in achieving tone. Lorina highlighted "Dead Weight" as a personal favorite, inspired by Jani Lane's songwriting style. He shared experiences touring with Jani Lane and Black Label Society, and upcoming shows, including Milwaukee Metal Fest in May. Dark Chapel's album releases on February 28, with more singles to follow. This week on Toilet Radio: This week: Chris Kael of Five Finger Death Punch tries his hand at standup / Karl Sanders had his faith in humanity restored by pickle ball / Patrick Mameli of Pestilence has been quietly simmering with rage about light pushback he received for using AI album art and now he's gonna make it your problem / Nevermore* is coming back and Jeff Loomis failed to loop a few folks in about that. Let's all send our Warrel Dane replacement audition tapes in right now / The new All That Remains album is gonna be called Antifragile, is surely not another softboy metal core album about being a sad, middle-aged man / We take a look at the lineup for Milwaukee Metal Fest 2025 and argue over which bands should be placed higher on the billing. Folks, it's a good one. Music featured on this show: Noctambulist – Aderlater Want more Toilet Radio? The second record from Salem's Childe, Unbound, showcases the band's growth as songwriters and musicians from 2020's The Sin That Saves You. From the fast-paced tension of opener “Closer to the Bone” to anthems like “Rise & Conquer” and the closing beefed up and energetic take on The Cult's classic “She Sells Sanctuary,” the nine-song record takes the listener on a lyrical and melodic journey that maintains the band's aggressive accessibility while pushing boundaries and inviting engagement.Since its inception, Salem's Childe has defined and redefined itself musically, while following one rule: taking the best of what they love from their diverse influences and forging them into something that reflects those influences without trying to sound like them. The result is a hard-hitting and energetic genre-defying mix of melody and aggression that finds itself as equally at home in the mainstream as it does the underground. In 2020, the band released its debut full-length album, The Sin That Saves You, through Pavement Entertainment, following that up the next spring with a well-received cover of Sponge's iconic radio anthem “Plowed.” In 2024 the band finished and released its second record, Unbound. From appearances at events such as Milwaukee Metal Fest to storming their way across the US while supporting Misfits legend, Doyle, the Indiana-based band is no stranger to the national stage and will soon be announcing upcoming tours in the fall of 2024 and winter of 2025 in support of the new record. We are back once again, this time to reminisce about metal fests we've attended, compare notes on fests we would like to attend, and look forward to fests we will attend in the future. What are our favorite festivals, and our favorite festival experiences? What makes a good festival and what lead to the popularity of fests in America and Europe? Which festivals are run the best, which ones have access to the best food? We talk about indoor versus outdoor festivals and share stories of our festival experiences at Roadburn, Northwest Terror Fest, Wacken, Milwaukee Metal Fest, Maryland Death Fest, Migration Fest, Party San, and more. As usual we do a couple of segments to wrap up the show, plead for listener emails, and beg for purchases on the webstore. -------------------- Hosts: Jason Walton and Nick Wusz. Join Justin and I as we discuss the last time we talked, which was literally the day before the pandemic really went into full swing and touring and most of the world went on pause for 2 years. How in that time Justin went within and decided to work on some songs that he had sitting on a hard drive and would wind up becoming Lybica with some close friends and how it was to find his "voice" with a new instrument, and what it was like playing the first few shows being up front on stage versus being tucked in back with KSE. We also touch on Jasta talking about a reunited Blood Has Been Shed for his recently acquired Milwaukee Metal Fest, playing last years Furnace Fest and older bands reuniting and more.
