SUB TO THE PPM PATREON TO HEAR THE EXCLUSIVE ADVANCE RELEASE OF THIS NEARLY 4 HR EPISODE NOW:patreon.com/ParaPowerMappingTo discuss the state of communist and socialist counter-propaganda and indoctrination efforts on TikTok and the possible impacts of the imminent TikTok-Oracle-Fox merger, I'm joined by James Rehwald of MeansTV, the creator of many viral, info-laden, Marxist quote heavy, anti-imperialist TikTok sketches such as:“Join the CIA Today”“The War Machine”“Is Israeli Food Even Real?”“When you ‘vote' the imperialism & fascism away”and more.James is someone whose videos I've garnered enjoyment and edification from for a few years now and I'd been planning to ask him to come on the show for a minute once I became aware we had a mutual appreciation on Twitter, but the combo of the acquisition, Leavitt's comments the other day, and a previous interaction we had re world's sometimes wealthiest man Larry Ellison hastened my decision to hit him up and congealed the idea of attacking these topics together in my mind, and I can think of no one better to do so with. This is also a bit of an impromptu AmerIsraeli Years of Lead and PAWG aka Palantir Apartheid w/ White Gov session spurred forward by said recently assembled Zio·nist consortium's imminent TikTok takeover at Trump and the Israel lobby's behest. The logic behind this episode tying into our ongoing paying of heed to the AmerIsraeli Years of Lead is due to the fact that the Trump admin seems to be using the recent Charlie Kirk assassination / deep event as a pretext for retraining TikTok's algorithm to further suppress leftist content on the platform as illustrated by Press Secretary Leavitt. Said presser also fielded questions regarding Trump's decision to have the Bigfoot-esque, cryptid "insurgent movement" called “antifa” designated a domestic terrorist organization—which is, in its present iteration, mostly a fiction or else a mask donned by Gladioperators.Amongst that and the announcement of the Autism Action Plan (lol), Press Sec Leavitt also spoke to the TikTok acquisition, stating that, if the deal as presently outlined goes through, the app's US operations would be taken over by a majority American owned consortium helmed by vampiric, Bryan Johnson-financing multibillionaire Larry Ellison and populated by a number of Zio·nist national and cybersecurity experts, that Ellison's company Oracle will serve as TikTok's “trusted security provider”, that the servers would all be physically located in the States “without access from China”, and that the algorithm would ultimately be retrained, naturally leading to even more oppressive censorship of leftist and anti-Zionist dissent on the platform. Our convo takes a three-pronged approach (in reverse order):We expend some time and energy ParaPower Mapping the acquisition consortium together and situating it within a larger geo-and-deep political context, laying out the ways in which Ellison, Oracle, Michael Dell, the Murdochs, Fox, Andreessen-Horowitz, and Silver Lake and indirect industry and congressional backers of the Ban-Tok Bill like Alex Karp and Anthony Goldbloom and Rep. Gallagher are marked by deeply entrenched Zio·nist ideology and are inextricably entangled with the gen·ocidal, apartheid EntityWe discuss our TikTok prognoses and what the deal may mean for online anti-hasbara actionAnd I also pick James's brain re his experience as a leftist content creator; how he's harnessed video-making to promulgate postcolonial, anti-Zionist, and Marxist ideology; his writing process and the development of his distinctive, whimsically DIY, Hardboiled Nerf Gun style; and any advice he's willing to give to fellow traveling creatorsSUPPORT JAMES REHWALD:https://www.patreon.com/JamesRehwaldhttps://means.tv/programs/james-rehwaldFULL NOTES ON PATREON
In this episode of the MadTech Podcast, ExchangeWire head of marketing Grainne Reid is joined by CEO Rachel Smith and Ellie McDonough, programmatic director at Dentsu. They discuss how TikTok's US business could be impacted by investment from the Murdochs, how AI search is harming publishers, and UK broadcasters rejecting the idea that they should partner in order to take on the streaming giants. (Since this podcast was recorded, Trump has signed an executive order stating the terms of a deal to transfer TikTok's US business to a US owner. Rupert Murdoch's investment has also been confirmed.)

First, Chuck reacts to President Trump's announcement that smartphones, computers, and other electronics will be exempt from tariffs. He also previews what we can expect this week in political news, and breaks down what all these developments mean for our democracy as a whole. Then, Chuck is joined by The Atlantic staff writer McKay Coppins to discuss his latest story, “Growing Up Murdoch,” which delves into the Succession-style drama surrounding Rupert Murdoch, his children, and the future of their media empire. They examine Fox News' enormous influence on American politics, how the network evolved during the Trump era, and how it could undergo major changes once Murdoch's children take the reins. The conversation explores striking parallels between the Murdoch family and the Roys from HBO's Succession, including a looming legal battle over the family trust and what it could mean for the company's direction.McKay explains how Fox News shifted after the departure of longtime CEO Roger Ailes, while Chuck highlights how the potential loss of NFL broadcasting rights could pose an existential threat to the network. Finally, they turn to the Trump family and discuss why its own brewing succession drama might ultimately eclipse that of the Murdochs. The world is on fire, and either because of that or in spite of that, we found ourselves consumed with the details of the Murdoch family d-r-a-m-a that were unsealed in court documents last month. Just to clarify, we're not talking about a bear succeeding at being chosen over a man in the woods. We mean the show! The Bear continues to be a favorite at TV award shows, and this year is no different. Naturally, your hosts talked about it. But first, they took a look at the show that rivalled it last year with just as many Enny wins. Succession. Your favorite hosts are joined by Professor of Race, Gender and Sexuality at Simmons University, Suzanne Leonard. The crew takes a moment to acknowledge the SAG nominees. We love when deserving people get their flowers. With The Bear being nominated, the crew decides to talk MASKulinity in the show, but first, they talk about a previous winner that reminds us all a bit too much of real life: Succession.Samantha takes us through some interesting facts about the family that Succession is based on.Suzanne lets us know what attracts her about the show. Are you a bit voyeuristic like her and Samantha are when it comes to this show? What is it about miserable rich people that draws our attention? With a quick synopsis of Succession, Samantha breaks down the similarities between the Fox News Murdochs and their fictional counterparts.. A power struggle between a father and his children for the head seat of the company, something that provides a particular comment on fatherhood, power, and MASKulinity in our current social and political moment. Why are we talking about this show? Suzanne and Samantha apprise Remoy of why it's helpful for us to dissect this type of patriarchal leadership.Suzanne makes an important note on mourning traditional media, which feels like it might be dying out, but is it?So much political, economic, and social power is concentrated in families with Murdochs, Trumps, and Maxwells, it's worth examining the BTS of these powerful families through this show.Exactly how powerful are these nepotistic families? The crew runs down the list of the Murdochs' empire and their impactful media (and legal) history and MASKulinity.SPOILER ALERT: Samantha presents some scenes from Succession for Remoy to react to. Suzanne weighs in.The fatherhood that Logan Roy displays can be mapped onto Trump's leadership of both his family and the US as a country: we sustain his legacy.Wielding real power and setting the tone for men's MASKulinity both in their families and in our larger society are staples of the all-powerful patriarchs.Suzanne highlights the ruthlessness of the powerful masculinity in the fatherhood displayed and how damaging it is to people around the folks who perform that masculinity. It is reflected in all these clips. Remoy makes a poignant point about America's need for a father figure running the country. The crew continues on to discuss crowd favorite, The Bear. Remoy points out that if Shrinking is the best way to deal with MASKulinity's woes, and Succession is the most toxic, The Bear falls somewhere in the middle.Remoy provides a great synopsis of the show, highlighting how differently it deals with masculinity compared to Succession. We examine the relationships stemming from Carmy's newfound leadership.Carmy and Syd's relationship represents a great mixed-gender leadership collaboration for this show. Richie's evolution as a person as well as the rest of the cast's reflected the power of a connected leadership. The Bear deals with mental health in an immensely different way from Succession. Carmy relies on those around him to get better while Kendall schemes while wielding power as his father does. The Bear chronicles changing dynamics in a workplace as does Succession. The three draw out the differences and few similarities between masculinities in the two shows.Suzanne highlights how class creates a different landscape than the opulent SuccessionIn our deep dive, Suzanne shares some great nuggets in her research on gender in powerful structures. We dive into questions about how family structures impacted our recent election of an all-powerful patriarch. We get into how women hold up these power structures. Suzanne's research has looked at how women's own power is garnered through all-powerful couples.Suzanne makes points on whiteness and how racial hierarchies impact this all-powerful dynamic.OK, now we're really outta here! See you soonish!

Staff Writer with The Atlantic McKay Coppins published his in-depth piece which saw him spend time with James Murdoch and his wife Kathryn as the couple revealed their regrets and just how estranged the relationship is with his father and brother…He joins Seán to discuss.

On Wednesday, Rupert Murdoch's British media group agreed to pay “substantial damages” and apologized to Prince Harry as part of a settlement agreement over claims that the paper illegally intruded into the prince's life. Harry is one of many celebrities and politicians who have sued Murdoch's papers for illegally obtaining private information – the claims stretch back to 2011, when it was first revealed that journalists at the tabloids might be hacking phones. Martine speaks with democracy reporter Sarah Ellison about why Prince Harry finally decided to settle and what this outcome means for the Murdochs. Today's show was produced by Sabby Robinson, with help from Rennie Svirnovskiy. It was edited by Reena Flores and mixed by Sam Bair. Subscribe to The Washington Post here.
On New Year's Eve 1921, Australia was shocked by a Melbourne child murder. Desperate to boost the Herald's stagnant circulation, newly appointed editor Keith Murdoch ran sensational coverage that helped to send an innocent man to the gallows. Forty years later, when Australia was shocked by a Sydney child murder, Rupert Murdoch, new editor and owner of the lagging Daily Mirror, followed in his father's footsteps and laid the foundations for the media empire that'd reshape the world. In de podcast Wat Blijft hoor je aflevering 11 van de 12-delige serie Grote Geesten over indrukwekkende denkers uit de Humanistische Canon. Annette van Soest volgt het spoor terug van filosoof en schrijver Iris Murdoch. Murdoch dankt haar bekendheid aan haar romans, zoals ‘Under the Net' (Modern Library 100 Best Novels) en ‘The Sea, the Sea' (Booker Prize).
A move by Rupert Murdoch to secure the conservative editorial leadership of his media empire, including Fox News, the New York Post, and the Wall Street Journal in the U.S., in the hands of his son Lachlan, was dealt a blow by a judge who accused the Murdochs of acting in bad faith. Angelo Carusone, president and CEO of Media Matters discusses with Alex Wagner the significance of the ruling to the future of conservatism and MAGAism in the U.S.

On the eve of the American election, polls say Harris and Trump are neck and neck. Of course, Donald Trump says that's not true. It's nothing new for the former president to deny facts. What is new is the way America's biggest cable news network is handling it: Fox News has started cutting away from rallies when Trump lies. The network's support of the big lie – that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump, led to a defamation lawsuit that cost hundreds of millions of dollars to settle. And now the Murdoch broadcaster is in a tricky spot: tell MAGA supporters what they want to hear, even if it isn't true, or risk losing a huge audience. So what does Fox do if Trump loses this election, and refuses to admit it? Alan and Lionel are joined by Eric Beecher to discuss his new book, The Men Who Killed The News about media moguls' abuses of power. At 33, Eric became the youngest ever editor of The Sydney Morning Herald, before Rupert Murdoch crowned him editor-in-chief at the Melbourne Herald. So why, several years later, was he sued by the Murdochs? Eric has seen Murdoch at his best, successful and innovative, and at worst, a ruthless dictator. He shares a story of pressure and coercive behaviour, and his growing sense that the news agenda was being manipulated to avoid bad press connected to his boss. reveals that very little happens in the Murdoch empire without Rupert knowing--including, he alleges, the phonehacking scandal.Plus, Alan tries an AI experiment on Lionel, which leads to fears that they'll both soon be deemed redundant from their current roles.
