L'ultima ondata di mobilitazione in Israele — come racconta Ruth Margalit su The New Yorker — non ha trovato tutti allineati e coperti. Migliaia di riservisti hanno deciso di non rispondere alla chiamata. Non per codardia. Per lucidità. Sono soldati israeliani che avevano giurato fedeltà a uno Stato, non a un governo. Alcuni sono tornati precipitosamente dall'estero dopo l'attacco di Hamas dell'ottobre 2023. Hanno combattuto, pianto, obbedito. Ma oggi si tirano indietro. Non per stanchezza, ma per vergogna. Perché, come scrive il soldato Eran Tamir, “questa guerra è il nostro punto più basso”. Perché la liberazione degli ostaggi è l'ultimo obiettivo sulla lista del governo, preceduto dal “controllo operativo” di Gaza e dallo spostamento forzato della popolazione civile. Perché, semplicemente, non si fidano più. È la crisi morale prima ancora che politica di uno Stato fondato sulla memoria dell'esilio, che ora blocca gli aiuti e affama i civili. È l'erosione di una coesione nazionale che si regge sempre più solo sull'obbligo e sull'abitudine. La retorica bellica resta, ma la carne si sfila. Persino nell'esercito più coeso del Medio Oriente. Intere compagnie si sciolgono, i comandanti reclutano su Facebook, si promettono turni “settimana per settimana” pur di tappare i buchi. Si combatte senza motivazione, si muore per inerzia. E quando i soldati cominciano a dire “basta”, il problema non è solo militare. #255: Nome war zur Zeit des Goldrauschs die größte Stadt Alaskas. Aber im Jahr 2003 ist es auf einen kleinen Ort zusammengeschrumpft. Die Jugendliche Sonya Ivanoff fühlt sich hier wohl und sicher. Sie stammt aus einem Iñupiat-Dorf, ein indigenes Volk, das seit tausenden Jahren in Alaska lebt. In einer langen Sommernacht verschwindet Sonya, der Basketballstar von Nome, spurlos. Als ihre beste Freundin sie am nächsten Tag bei der Polizei vermisst melden will, nimmt sie dort erstmal niemand ernst. Doch als wenige Tage später eine großangelegte Suche nach Sonya startet, wird ihre Leiche am Highway gefunden. Sonyas beste Freundin erstellt eine Liste mit Namen der Menschen, die etwas mit Sonyas Tod zu tun haben könnten. Die Polizisten verdächtigen sofort einen Mann. Wir begleiten die Polizisten auf ihrer Suche nach Beweisen und schauen uns an, was ein seltsamer Brief und ein geklautes Polizeiauto mit der Aufklärung des Mordes zu tun haben. Heute, am 5. Eine CD von Tara Nome Doyle - vorgestellt auf NDR Kultur.

Konzeptalben sind eine feine, oft spannende Sache, machen aber auch eine Menge Arbeit. Das weiß Tara Nome Doyle nur zu gut, waren die ersten beiden Langspieler der in Berlin geborenen und lebenden Musikerin mit norwegisch-irischen Eltern doch ausgezeichnete Vertreter dieser Gattung. Auf "Alchemy" verhandelte sie 2020 die vier Phasen der vormodernen Naturphilosophie, der Nachfolger "Værmin" widmete zwei Jahre später jeden Song einem andern Kriechtier. Bei allem Aufwand kann ein übergeordnetes Thema aber auch Orientierung geben, eine gewisse Sicherheit. Diese gab die Künstlerin für die Arbeit an ihrem kürzlich erschienenen dritten Album "Ekko" nun auf und gewährte den neuen Songs quasi inhaltliche Freiheit. Dabei schlich sich unbewusst offenbar aber doch eine gewisse Grundidee ein, wenn auch in verschiedenen Formen: die der Selbstreflexion. Nicht umsonst trägt Tara auf dem Coverfoto einen "Muschelkopfhörer", in Anspielung darauf, dass es heißt, man könne das Meeresrauschen hören, wenn man sich eine Muschel ans Ohr hält – man aber tatsächlich eine Mischung aus gedämpften Umgebungsgeräuschen und dem Rauschen des eigenen Blutes wahrnimmt. Für die musikalische Umsetzung solcher und ähnlicher Gedankenspiele ist der Sound der Berlinerin zwischen Folk und Kammer-Pop bestens geeignet: Eingeleitet von einer geisterhaft-verhallten, außerweltlich wirkenden Stimme und perlenden Pianotönen, zu denen sich bald dezent an- und abschwellende Streicher gesellen, begibt sich Tara Nome Doyle auf eine "Reise in die Ferne, wo Neues wartet, und ins Innere, wo Altes wütet."
