Send us a textTwo physicians challenge everything you thought you knew about weight loss in this eye-opening discussion on the biology behind obesity. Dr. Rocio Salas-Whalen, a triple board-certified endocrinologist and obesity medicine expert, joins Dr. Daria Hamrah to reframe obesity as a complex medical condition—not a failure of willpower. The conversation delves into why "eat less, exercise more" fails most people long-term. Dr. Salas-Whalen explains how genetics can account for up to 70% of obesity risk, with parents' weight before conception significantly affecting their children's predisposition. Beyond genetics, we learn how hormonal changes, aging, and environmental factors create what she calls "the perfect storm" working against sustainable weight loss.Perhaps most fascinating is the detailed explanation of how GLP-1 medications work by targeting both survival and reward eating patterns. Unlike restrictive diets, these treatments address the biological roots of weight regulation while providing psychological relief many patients describe as life-changing. The doctors share moving patient stories, including one man who transformed so dramatically he was unrecognizable—ultimately quitting his job to become a nutrition specialist after experiencing the profound impact of effective treatment. The episode also covers the alarming impact of endocrine-disrupting chemicals found in everyday items like plastic bottles and food containers, with practical advice on reducing exposure. You'll learn why building muscle might be the most important thing you can do for metabolic health, and why body composition analysis offers far more valuable information than BMI alone.Whether you're struggling with weight, supporting someone who is, or simply interested in the science of metabolism, this conversation offers compassionate, evidence-based perspectives that could change how you think about health forever. Send us a textMenopause represents a profound transition that affects every woman, yet remains shockingly misunderstood by the medical establishment. Dr. Mary Claire Haver, board-certified OBGYN, certified menopause specialist, and bestselling author of "The New Menopause," joins us to expose the striking gaps in menopause education and treatment that leave millions suffering unnecessarily. The conversation quickly moves beyond hot flashes to reveal how menopause impacts virtually every body system. "I knew more about the bottom of the ocean than about menopause," Dr. Haver confesses, despite years of medical training. She explains how falling estrogen levels affect brain function (70% of women experience cognitive changes), cardiovascular health (2-3x increased risk of metabolic syndrome), bone density (greatest acceleration of bone loss occurs during perimenopause), and mental health (40% increase in disorders during transition). Most surprisingly, Dr. Haver reveals how a single flawed study from 2002 dramatically altered women's health for decades, creating widespread fear about hormone replacement therapy despite subsequent research showing its benefits far outweigh risks for most women. "For the vast majority of patients, especially starting early, the benefits will far outweigh the risks. She'll live longer, have less cardiovascular disease, less osteoporosis, less dementia."Beyond medical interventions, Dr. Haver offers practical strategies for navigating menopause: prioritizing protein intake and strength training to preserve muscle mass ("the most geroprotective thing in the woman is the muscle"), consuming diverse plant foods for gut health, and addressing stress. She emphasizes that understanding menopause's comprehensive impact is essential not only for women's health but for relationships, noting that many divorces trace back to unrecognized and untreated menopause symptoms.Whether you're approaching menopause, supporting a partner through it, or seeking to better understand women's health beyond reproductive years, this episode offers invaluable insights that could transform your perspective on this universal female experience. Send us a textDr. Christopher Asandra pulls back the curtain on men's health in this riveting conversation about the testosterone crisis sweeping through modern society. The alarming reality? Today's average man has approximately half the testosterone levels of men from just 40-50 years ago – a biochemical shift with profound implications for energy, mental clarity, sexual function, and overall vitality. For too many men, the first signs of hormonal decline – fatigue, irritability, brain fog, decreased libido – are dismissed as "normal aging" or worse, treated with antidepressants without addressing the root cause. Dr. Isandra explains why conventional medicine often fails these patients and outlines a more comprehensive approach to men's hormonal health that goes far beyond simply prescribing pills. The conversation tackles persistent myths about testosterone therapy, exploring why the FDA recently removed its "black box" warning and how properly administered hormone optimization differs dramatically from black market steroid abuse. Equally valuable are the actionable lifestyle strategies Dr. Asandra shares – from resistance training (particularly lower body exercises) to sleep optimization – that can naturally boost testosterone by 20-30% in many men. Most powerful are the transformation stories from Dr. Asandra's practice – men who reclaimed their vitality, saved their marriages, and rediscovered themselves after proper hormone optimization. As one patient tearfully confessed, "it saved my life." Whether you're experiencing symptoms yourself or care about someone who might be, this episode provides the knowledge to recognize hormonal decline and the roadmap to address it effectively.Dr. Christopher Asandra contact:https://asandramd.com/IG: @asandramdTweet me @realdrhamrahIG @drhamrah

Today I am really excited to share my conversation with a very special guest. He is the embodiment of hard work, resilience, and relentlessness. He is the very proof that in this world, having those traits always wins, no matter what. That winning means, enjoying the process without caring about other people's opinions. That no matter how your odds are from the day you were born, whether it is like in his case with a physical disability that required over 13 surgeries or within extremely humble means, you can always live your dream. Yes, this is a real-life story and not a cliche or fairytale. His name is David Rock, and he is the Executive Creative Director of Vayner Media, which is one of the most successful contemporary media and branding companies whose CEO and Chairman is nonother than Mr. Gary Vaynerchuk. In this very up close and personal interview, David (to many known as “Drock”), shares his inside story of what it took him to land a job with Gary Vee after having worked as a freelance videographer, to now being his right-hand and Director of Creative at Vayner Media. But this is not where it stops for him. As he tells us himself, he is a dreamer at heart. Currently, he has his hands in much bigger projects and claims that at age 31, his work has not even begun yet. So listen in and for those of you who are in the creative department and want to learn about best practices in social media and branding, make sure you listen till the very end.
Today, in honor of father's day, I would like to share my conversation with a good friend and colleague of mine, whose story is a perfect example of the importance of a role model and its importance to future success. In my opinion, there is no better role model than one's father. Someone you grew up with and looked up to since the day you were born. Someone that provides, protects, loves, and inspires you. A figure larger than life, your hero. As the son of Greek immigrants, Dr. Manolis Manolakakis grew up in the suburbs of New Jersey. He grew up with the basic and most important values; hard work and kindness, instilled in him by his father. According to him, it was his father, who taught him the meaning of perseverance and determination, and to always “do what it takes”.Manolis Manolakakis, DMD, FACS, is a dual board-certified cosmetic and reconstructive facial surgeon and the director at Advanced Facial Surgery in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, and Greenwich Village in Manhattan, New York City. He currently runs a fellowship program in facial cosmetic surgery and inspires the new generation of surgeons to continue his legacy.
It is with the greatest pleasure to introduce today's guest on my podcast, whose name is known all over the world associated with one of the most recognized skincare brands. Continuing her father's legacy, Dr. Suzan Obagi has made her presence known in the scientific and academic world through her many contributions in the field of Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery, thereby creating her own identity and becoming a leader in her field. Most recently she finished her term as the president of the prestigious American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and is now one of the biggest advocates and leaders in the society, inspiring not just women in the surgical field, but also colleagues like myself. Currently, Dr. Obagi's academic commitments include serving as the director of dermatologic surgery for the residents in the department of dermatology at UPMC as well as the director of the cosmetic dermatologic surgery fellowship. In addition, Dr. Obagi trains physicians from around the world on the latest in cosmetic and laser surgery. She has appeared on numerous news outlets and media including USA Today, Elle, Woman's World, CNN.com, and many others. I invite you to join us for this up-close and personal conversation that gives you an insight into her path to success and happiness as an immigrant woman reaching out to the top in a field commonly dominated by men. Today, she lives her life by Winston Churchill's quote “Success is not Final” and “Failure is not Fatal”, “It's the courage to continue that counts”!So listen in and enjoy this insightful conversation.
Today I am very excited to share my personal and intimate conversation with a good friend whom I admire both personally and professionally. Dr. Masoud Saman is a Facial Plastic Surgeon and one of the country's sought-after rhinoplasty surgeons, and currently practices in both Dallas, TX, and recently also in New York City where he had trained as a resident surgeon at Mount Sinai Hospital. To me, he is the perfect example of someone whose passion and drive led him to become one of the top surgeons in his profession in a very short period of time. His story is like the story of many immigrants, like myself, who traveled to America to pursue their dream of a better life and a greater future. Not to become rich, but to be able to live a happy and fulfilled life. He will share his definition of success and how he was able to reach his goals by following his passion. From starting out as a 15-year-old immigrant to becoming a street musician backpacking through Spain and France and then ultimately going back to the US to pursue a career as a surgeon. Just like myself, his passion for facial plastic surgery started by being inspired by doctors who treat children with cleft, lip, and palate deformities and his artistic nature and urge to reconstruct both function and aesthetics of the face.
Hi Podcast, welcome to Season 2 Episode 6 of the Daria Hamrah Podcast. Today I welcome a very special guest and colleague of mine whom I admire most for his genuine and caring character.Dr. Sean Paul is one of the top Oculoplastic Surgeons practicing in Austin, TX. His business mind and entrepreneurship have led him to build one of the largest cosmetic surgery practices in the Austin area by recruiting other renowned plastic surgeons into his group. He is very well known nationally and internationally and frequently speaks and teaches in scientific meetings and events and is one of the most respected authorities in his field. I personally met him several years ago when he mentored me in one of the latest techniques in facial rejuvenation and I got to know him professionally as well as personally. But Dr. Paul is not just a surgeon. He is a father, husband, and a successful entrepreneur. His success story is simple and comes down to the basics: No fear of failure, pure determination and grit, and ultimately driven by his passion! Today he shares his story with us in an intimate and honest conversation. So listen in and hope you enjoy it!
Today I want to introduce a special guest, who is a marketing and branding guru turned Yoga and wellness instructor. From a fast-paced New York City lifestyle to a chill, laid-back lifestyle on the west coast of Mexico. Joshua Blair, who is the co-founder of Brandthumb, a marketing and Advertising firm based out of Tampa, Florida is one of today's experts and authorities in Branding and Advertising. Prior to creating his own company, Joshua started his career during the dot-com boom in California in the 90s and early 2000s only to move to a fast pace lifestyle working for one of the biggest brands like Disney, ESPN, Panasonic, Citi Bank, and Chase. What makes him unique is that despite all his success he has never lost sight of his true purpose, which is working for the things he believes in. One of his recent projects which is honoring the military women's memorial and veterans by creating the #appresheation, says it all! But before we get into the details of how this came about, I invite you to listen to his story, which is inspiring not only to me but to a lot of men and women in our country.
Today I want to welcome my next guest, who like many of my previous guests is an inspiration and role model to many people. As if growing up as a minority and daughter to Egyptian parents in Texas and Minnesota wasn't hard enough, she chose a career path dominated by men and also known to be owned by the “old boys club” in the United States. Choosing to become a doctor and on top of it, a surgeon comes with a lot of sacrifices and traditionally our society has been discouraging women to enter the field. Kind of an outdated vision if you ask me, but so it was for Dr. Rania Habib, who is currently an instructor at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. To many known as a male-dominated field (for context, only about 8% of all OMS's are female), she did not shy away from the challenge and followed her passion and since never looked back. Her passion for treating children in need, lead her to pursue additional training in Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery, and today she teaches young students at the University and inspires many more through her social media channels on Instagram and TikTok, just like she was inspired by her own parents and many of her mentors. She is a great example of how well parenting and mentorship cultivates your passion, motivates you to reach for the sky and ultimately leads to success. In a society where we are so quick to blame lack of opportunity, bad influence from the outside, or demonize social media, we have forgotten to hold ourselves accountable for our own actions, successes, and failures. While most people get caught up in pontificating and thinking about what they want to do or better even, think about thinking, until they find 10 reasons why they won't be able to succeed, the Ranias out there just go out there and do it. They don't look for excuses and instead look for solutions to their problems keeping only one goal in mind, follow your passion, no matter what the odds say. I always tell people, if you know only one person that has done it, that means you can do it too. Period! So listen in and hopefully her story will inspire you as it has inspired me.
I am very honored and proud to announce today's guest who not by accident holds the same last name as myself. He happens to be my dear cousin and someone I admire for not only what he achieved in the past 20 years, but more importantly, how he has achieved it. Whenever we look at successful people, we tend to see and judge them by what they have achieved and who they have become. What no one ever talks about is, how they achieved their success. The struggles and adversities they had to overcome. The painful sacrifices they had to make. Sometimes, you can't make a rational decision and have to follow your intuition and simply trust the process and have faith in your abilities. Hamid is the perfect example of how his passion and perseverance to achieve his long-term goals, also called “grit”, led him to his success today at the very young age of 45 years. The best part is that this is just the beginning of his career. In this podcast interview with me, he gives us an up-close and personal view into his life leading to his success today. Many times facing almost impossible hurdles and hitting brick walls right after a successful run, losing it all, and starting up from scratch. It's not how you fall, it's about how you get up and make a comeback! To me, that's simply “grit”. It's not having a plan B and not taking failure as an option. What is most inspiring to me is that he did all of it his way. When he went to college his parents expected him to become a doctor, a stereotype exception and almost demand of parents of certain cultures. Anything less, would not be acceptable or “good enough”. Despite all the pressure of his parent's expectations, Hamid chose to follow his own passion, which was finance and business. Knowing that he was now on his own, while in college, he started his entrepreneurial journey by selling vacuum cleaners door to door and soon enough realized that he is a natural salesman and was making thousands of dollars a month in only a very short period of time. To him, it was this very experience that gave him the self-confidence to continue his personal path to success. Today, Hamid Hamrah is the Senior Vice President of the Midwest Region with New American Funding which is one of the largest privately-owned direct mortgage lending companies in the nation. As the Senior VP of 21 offices, Hamid's region has out originated several other mortgage companies in MO, IL, KS, IA, IN, AR, NE, OH, and OK. From starting out closing around a 40million dollars of business when he started, last year he surpassed 1.6 billion dollars in only his 3rd ear with the company. After starting his first branch with only 2 people, Hamid now has a staff of over 180 employees. Like all of his success wasn't already enough, and when many others would now relax and rest on their laurels, last year his entrepreneurial aspirations and a strong sense of business opportunity led him to venture out and starting up his cannabis business named “Root66” in St. Lois, MO area and is now opening up his third store in Missouri already. So for all of you who think success comes easy and has to do with luck, please listen to his story, and maybe you will have a better appreciation of what it takes to rise to the top. What I can tell you though is, it sure doesn't happen overnight!
Welcome to the 2nd Episode of Season 2 of The Daria Hamrah Podcast. Today we will listen in to my conversation with a young entrepreneur who after starting a successful career as a sales director of a medical device company managing half of the United States, left a great paying job after 8 years in order to start up a coffee shop chain called “Clutch Coffee Bar”. Why, because one day he decided to follow his passion and never looked backed since. In less than 3 years Darren and his partners own 4 shops in North Carolina and Florida, opening up their 5th store soon and planning on another 4 by year-end, in only a very short time, Darren and his partner have grown their dream into a multi-million dollar business, and this is just the beginning.I hope that you will enjoy my conversation with him and take home a lot of value from the CEO and Founder of “Clutch Coffee Bar” a now popular drive-through experience in North Carolina and Florida. For Darren, the definition of success is the ability to become the best version of himself, referring to the “Mamba Mentality” of late basketball legend, Kobe Bryant. As a former College Basketball player, Darren's competitive drive and relentlessness are only a few of his positive attributes and reasons for his success. He will share with us his exciting and inspiring journey and hopefully prove to you that anything is possible as long as you make a decision and take massive action. Listen in….

Diving into the deep end of things, he reveals personal stories about his successes but also his failures. How he found his passion and his true north, ultimately leading to co-founding a charity foundation called, Alegria, that helps children with facial deformities and cleft lip and palate in South America. His life philosophy is: "Helping others, without asking for anything in return." His Favorite quote is by John F. Kennedy: "Ask for what you can do for your country, not what your country can do for you!"
Today's show is about marketing for the now! Why for the now? Because the strategies in marketing today are literally changing as I speak. Because of digital technology, specifically social media. In today's marketing world, if you don't have a presence on all social media outlets like Instagram, Facebook, Linked In, and even now TikTok, ladies, and gentlemen, you don't exist. Yes! over 70% of the population can't see you! You might say: “ But, Daria, I have a website and pay lot's of money on SEO and google”… Well, by the time they searched you on Google, they have been searching 10 other businesses they found on social media first. Let me ask you a question: How many minutes,…excuse me…, hours, do you spend a day on social media, versus google? Don't get me wrong, SEO optimization and all is important, but honestly, Google is so diluted and SEO strategies are so outdated due to the rapid coding changes of google that any SEO company claiming they are on top of it, either are delusional or you are a wishful thinker. Google is not the only player in town when it comes to marketing. So, What do now? Honestly, it's above my pay grade. But I know enough to realize that today, more so than ever, it is important to have a virtual CMO that is an expert in digital marketing and understands the rapid shifts and dynamics in technology coupled with the internet and social media. More importantly, understands consumer behavior pertaining to your specific business. One of these people is my friend Steve Seidel from the Seidel Agency. An expert marketer and entrepreneur, Steve Seidel, who is an `Award-Winning Marketer, Speaker, and Founder of The Seidel Agency, with over 15 years of experience building brands to make an impact, inspire positive action, and empower audiences everywhere. Voted "What to Watch on the Web" by USA Today, Steve builds, consults, and catapults Fortune 500 clients to the next level within entertainment, technology, and aesthetics. Having had the privilege to get to know him as a person and friend, to me what makes this guy most special and what I love about him, is his kind and genuine character. His values are truly reflected in his companies logo and state: Do Good. Give Back. Make an Impact. ….And that's what he is truly about. Listen in to my conversation with today's virtual CMO, Steve Seidel.
Welcome to the 8th episode of the Daria Hamrah Podcast! Today I had the rare opportunity to talk to one of my most inspiring guests that I am lucky to call a friend. What makes her so special is the very essence of what my podcast is about, success! Success, not measured by monetary value but rather than fulfillment and happiness. To me, the only true measure of success. People that follow their dreams and passion no matter what the odds are, people that believe in themselves and step out of their comfort zone in order to achieve their goals. My guest Rudi Bakhtiar is best known for anchoring CNN Headline News Tonight, a prime time national three-hour newscast in the US. Not only she was anchoring this Emmy nominated CNN Newsroom, but she also worked as a dedicated correspondent for Anderson Cooper 360 at that time only 8 years into her career with the network. All of this after starting off as an intern for CNN in Los Angeles only to become a line producer at the network in a very short period of time. In this very up-close and personal interview, Rudi, one of the biggest celebrities in the Persian-American community, walks us through her life, from being born in California to moving back to Iran until moving back to the US after the Iranian Revolution in 1979. Having had an inspiring father who was a Professor in Mathematics at the top Science and Tech university in Iran, as well as a great uncle who was the Shah of Iran's last prime minister, she had two inspiring figures in her life who influenced her greatly in achieving her successful career. Most importantly giving her the confidence in believing in herself.Making her right career choice however came after reading a book about: “Finding Your Passion”. She walks us through her struggles and successes, from being destined to become a dentist and being accepted to NYU dental school, to studying architecture at the career discovery program at Harvard School of Design, to then making a complete 180 and going into journalism, only to become one of the youngest news anchors at then the biggest news agency in the world, CNN. Having all the stars lined up, her career took an unexpected turn when her father was diagnosed with cancer and she decided to leave her successful career in order to take care of her sick father knowing that she would not be able to return to her anchor job as threatened by her boss at CNN. Her love for her father and loyalty to her family was greater than her career which speaks words about who she is as a human being. As if life as the daughter of Iranian Immigrants in the US wasn't hard enough, she became a victim of a sexual harassment case while working for FOX news that was featured in a recent blockbuster movie “Bombshell” featuring Charlize Theron, that unveiled the story around the sexual harassment lawsuit filed by Gretchen Carlson against longtime Fox News CEO Roger Ailes in July 2016.After her father's passing, she then became a humanitarian going to the war zones in Syria and Iraq to report as an independent contractor for Reuters about the crimes and human rights violations in those war zones. It is her experience during the time that led her to produce her upcoming documentary about Syria, ISIS, and the truth about the middle east conflict. I hope you will be as inspired as I was after listening to her story and
Today I will be talking to a very interesting guest, who is a dear friend and colleague of mine.As a plastic surgeon practicing in the San Francisco Bay area, he is not only a gifted and passionate surgeon but moreover, he is a problem solver and entrepreneur. In today's world where every business owner is called an “entrepreneur”, to me the true definition of an entrepreneur is someone that realized a problem, comes up with a solution, and then shares it with everyone. Today, one of the biggest problems in our healthcare is price transparency. What do I mean by that? Have you ever gone to the doctor or hospital and actually knew what your bill is going to be prior to going there? Well, this is exactly one of the big problems in American health care. Worse even is the tremendous variations in cost. Imagine you go to a restaurant and you wouldn't know the cost of your steak prior to ordering it. Worse even, your bill for the same steak is $200, and your friend who had the same steak for some reason only paid $40. How would you feel about that? Well in healthcare lack of price transparency is the accepted norm. Patients often get confronted with fees after they see their doctor and often are shocked about the amount and then have to figure out how to pay their bill after the fact. Why can't the patients have an estimate of fees prior to their visit? The answer that many doctors including myself up till now were giving their patients was: “ the doctor can't give estimates over the phone since surgical needs are different for everyone.” Well, what if, as a patient, you could go to your doctor's website or use an app on your phone to get estimates of procedures and services that you need or simply want by simply selecting them and putting them in your “wishlist” and then getting a quote immediately? Well, this is exactly what my next guest, Dr. Johnathan Kaplan, a plastic surgeon from the San Francisco Bay area has created with his app called “BuildMYBod”. BuildMyBod has a price estimator where a patient can exactly do that, select procedures they want estimates on, placed them in their cart, and get a complete estimate before seeing their doctor. To me, this was such a genius idea that I didn't hesitate to integrate the system into my practice! No more surprises for our patients, no more sticker shock! how about that?
I welcome you to listen to a conversation I had last month with a good friend of mine, Mr. Bandon Lee, a proud black man from Oakland California and Huston, TX. Brandon is a regular presenter and speaker at educational institutions, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and conferences on topics that include: How to Survive a Police Stop, Racism, Trauma & Healing, Black Founders of the United States of America and Community Conscious Policing. As a survivor of racial profiling, Brandon settled a lawsuit against a police department that resulted in a monetary settlement and disciplinary action against the officers involved. In Oakland, he worked to fund the Citizens Police Review Board, which was later replaced by the Police Commission and Community Police Review Agency in 2016 (Measure LL). Understanding that the polarization of law enforcement and community members deepens as our nation continues to erupt into protests He knows very well that Trust has been broken and communities feel unsafe. With a lifetime of experience personally advocating for justice against profiling and institutional racism, he has become the expert in transforming traumatic circumstances into hopeful victorious ones. His understanding of how to correct and restore institutions to a healthy and inclusive environment is unmatched.Trying to find a solution, Brandon Co-founded a nonprofit organization called, Training 4 Transformation (T4T) that advocates Community Conscious Policing. Community Conscious Policing is a public health response model to end law enforcement violence. It is designed to augment and enhance existing continuing education for law enforcement, students in social justice-related fields, advocates involved in police accountability, and organizations seeking to increase their outreach capacity through collaboration with local law enforcement agencies.
I want to welcome my next guest, whose story is inspiring in many ways. In a male-dominated world of plastic surgery, she has risen in only 7 years as a top opinion leader and one of the most sought after surgeons in Beverly Hills, California. Which by many considered as the most competitive region in the world of aesthetic surgery. As many people are quick to judge her by her stunning looks, being of the female gender, brown skin color and an immigrant from Iran fleeing her motherland at the age of 7, wouldn't necessarily give you an advantage in a country that is still struggling with sexism, racism, and antisemitism. But the more inspiring aspect of her story is not the fact that she has risen to the top of the plastic surgery world in a very short period of time, but more so, how she has done so. As if dominating the social media world and the internet wasn't enough, now she is even debuting her own show on NETFLIX this coming July 15th, called “Skin Decision - Before and After. When many people would have used her circumstances growing up as a refugee and victim of antisemitism fleeing her country at the age of 7 simply as an excuse to just give up, this relentless women used it as a drive to follow her passion, not taking her opportunity in this world for granted. To live her dream and to do it relentlessly!Well, listen in to this up-close and personal interview with my colleague, Dr. Sheila Nazarian, and find out how a mother of 3 being pregnant during her Surgical residency has become not only one of the most sought after plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills but also a social media guru, business management expert and now her own Netflix show.
Welcome to the 4th Episode of the Daria Hamrah Podcast. Today I have invited a very special guest who is very hard to categorize. You could call him an entrepreneur, philanthropist, humanitarian, TV celebrity, Educator, motivational speaker, or just a cosmetic dentist in southern California. His profession and his passion have led him to gain too many honors for me to list. But despite having co-founded some of the biggest dental companies and having invented the tooth whitening system ZOOM!, he has earned numerous awards as a cosmetic dentist practicing in Los Angeles, CA, His humanitarian & philanthropic involvement has led to his being honored with 14 Life Time Achievement Awards in addition to 2 Guinness World Book records. To top it off, in 2018 he was Knighted by the Royal Order of Constantine! But today, we are not here to talk about one single person's accolades. We are here to talk about the importance and meaning of giving. Yes, it sounds like a cliche, giving is receiving. But when you listen to our conversation, you will find out why and how it is true and not a cliche. You will learn that being a celebrity on an ABC show “Extreme Makeover”, or being on Oprah or Larry King Live, just to name a few shows he has been invited to, is not the ultimate achievement. The ultimate achievement and success in life are not about materialistic values or fame, it is not about selfishness. We all know how our society puts the above on a pedestal only to confuse young children and adults about the important things in life.Life to him is about giving, it is about teaching and showing young adults and students the pathways to success. In order to reach the future of our nation, my guest, Dr. Bill Dorfman founded The LEAP Foundation about 13 years ago. High school and college students from ages 15 to 27+ meet every summer in southern California to learn lessons in life, lessons not taught at schools, lessons that make all the difference in the true success of our lives. Not form a single perspective, but rather from the perspective of many successful people that get invited each year to meet with hundreds of students from around the country to serve as their mentors. To teach and lead them through real-life stories, the importance of basic human values like appreciation, self-love, caring for others, how to succeed in life and business. To empower young adults and teenagers to become the best possible version of themselves. Without fear of judgment or failure. To show them why Failure is not an option!
It is my pleasure to announce today's guest who is undoubtedly one of the most inspiring professionals and human beings in aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery today. As one of the most sought after speakers in the business, he finds rare time to chat with me and open up about his story, his passion, and his profession. Through his story, you will see the importance of following your passion, no matter how others judge you, especially your own colleagues. To be true to yourself and most importantly the importance of being authentic. Dr. Steven Dayan is a Facial Plastic Surgeon in Chicago, IL, where he grew up. In addition to his extensive research in aesthetic medicine through his research institute, DeNova Research, he trains and teaches surgical residents at the University of Illinois in Chicago. As an adjunct professor at DePaul University, he is also teaching an undergraduate course in the “Science of Beauty and Attraction and its impact on Culture and Business. He has published numerous scientific peer-reviewed articles, authored many medical textbook chapters, and through his work, Dr. Dayan remains on the cutting edge of the aesthetic field. But more importantly, he is a philosopher and visionary, someone that has an immense ability to think outside of the box and look at what really matters, “The happiness of his patients” not a before and after picture of his work as judged by his peers.Like many of us who started our lives with specific dreams of who we would like to become, his unique life story might find a resemblance to many of us as we might have not necessarily achieved those dreams that we had initially set. Well, as he tells us his story, you might find that it's not always a bad thing when we don't achieve those dreams. You'll find out that the road sometimes leads you to better and greater things instead. Things that you might have not ever dreamt or thought of. Like changing people's lives or better even changing the paradigm of an entire profession, in his case, the profession of plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine. In this rare interview, he discusses how we define beauty and attraction and why we are subconsciously driven to beauty, no matter how we judge it. How 3.5million years of evolution have made us who we are and why we behave the way we do. In his New York Times bestselling book “Subliminally Exposed” he scientifically and pragmatically exposes the shocking truths about your hidden desires in mating, dating, and communicating. He then also warns to use this knowledge “cautiously”. He reminds us that beauty is raw, powerful, and often dangerous, but when refined, harnessed, and mastered, it can be incredibly influential. His current research goes as far as investigating the science of how we can sense beauty without actually seeing it. So, you can already tell, there is much more to beauty and so much we still don't understand.

When your back is against the wall and everyone doubts you, that's when you know how much your dream actually means to you. Only if it means everything, you will get up, shake it off and do it anyway. "They told me I couldn't, that's why I did!" In this intimate and up-close interview with Dr. Dean Vafiadis, a celebrity dentist (prosthodontist) in Manhattan and an associate professor at NYU College of Dentistry, author, speaker and innovator, Dean reveals the secret to his success and happiness. He explains how adversities have always been the fuel that helped him succeed and challenged him to come out even stronger. When many give up because of fear of failure, he looks at the future and knows that the only option is to make things better. I call him the "Steve Jobs" of Dentistry because he thinks differently!
