I am thrilled to share today's episode with you featuring plus size model, former fashion editor and plus size clothing designer Lauren Chan.Lauren was recently featured on the pages of the 60th anniversary Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue and she's here talking today about her experience shooting for the magazine, the changes in plus size modeling over her 10 years in the business, how she manages her own body image and so much more.I discovered Lauren through Sarah Landry of The Birds Papaya when she posted an unposed photo of herself at the end of her SI shoot day—and seeing my own body reflected in her photo was one of the most powerful and significant experiences I've had for my own body image. Here's a peek at what you'll hear during our conversation:How and why we need to stop comparing ourselves to models and influencers The evolution of plus size modeling and body inclusivityThe specific skills and tools Lauren uses to work on her own thoughts and body image issuesA behind the scenes breakdown of everything that goes into the final image we see in a magazine or on social media and how to not compare your self to what you seLauren's experience of coming out and experiencing the female gaze vs the male gazeHow Lauren navigated her body size and shape as a girl and young adultWhat does the word flattering actually mean and should we be using it? Lauren's experience with disordered eating and how she has healed from itThis conversation is no question a top 5 moment of my career—I am incredibly grateful to Lauren for honesty and vulnerability. She reminds us that we are never alone in doing this work, that beauty is in bodies of all shapes and all sizes and how to truly learn to see and believe that.Lauren Chan is a size-inclusion activist, having made an impact on the fashion industry over the past decade as a model (JAG), fashion editor (Glamour), and exited plus-size clothing brand founder (Henning, acquired by Universal Standard). Danielle has been extremely honest about her struggle with body image and self-acceptance. She was so excited to sit down and ask one of her biggest role models, Sarah Landry (aka The Bird's Papaya) all about her experience and journey towards unapologetic body confidence. The two discuss why a attaining a "goal body" isn't all it's cracked up to be, how they're trying to show up in the world even when they feel uncomfortable, and what they really think makes a person incredibly sexy. Sarah talks about the first time she let her husband really touch her stomach after being a "no-go" zone for so long. Danielle discusses a time when she unintentionally made her daughter self-conscious about her appearance, and what she has since learned from her mistake. Danielle and Sarah also commiserate about how clothing stores have taken the joy and excitement out of shopping, and instead made it an experience filled with exclusion and shame. Sarah Landry is a Canadian jewelry artist who has made it her mission in life to expose the criminal activity of “Nithyananda,” a con artist whom she once called “guru. Sarah spent nine years in a destructive cult led by the fraudulent "swami" She fell into the trap of this dangerous organization in Vancouver in 2009, believing it to be a yoga and meditation academy. Once in, the group tightened control over her life to the point that she was pressured to take the vow of monasticism in 2015, at the age of 30, and only then, discovered the darkness behind the scenes. In 2018, she learned that children living in the ashram were regularly beaten, starved, sleep deprived, and verbally berated as punishment for failure to perform onstage and con people out of money through the demonstration of fake "third eye powers." It took her a year to deprogram and get the courage to speak out, but on September 11, 2019, she went public with a post on Facebook and a video on YouTube detailing the child abuse. Since then, Sarah has been the target of a massive character assassination attempt by the group she once wholeheartedly served. They have called her an agent of the Catholic church and accused her of such crimes as the attempted assassination of the cult leader, rape, war profiteering, and genocide. She is (obviously) innocent of all these trumped-up accusations, and much to the chagrin of those trying to silence her, she continues to speak out against the crimes and abuse of Nithyananda and his brainwashed followers. Sarah returns to the show to update Rachel on the ongoing saga of a dangerous cult leader still on the run from INTERPOL and the Indian authorities, she explains what it's been like coping with the attacks on her by the cult's followers as she almost singlehandedly raises awareness of Nithyananda in the mainstream media in an effort to finally bring justice to the numerous victims of his, many of whom have been suffering in silence because of the vindictive attacks whistleblowers receive. Before you Go: Rachel explains how cult leaders will deflect accusations by personally attacking the accusers, often by labeling them as "attention seekers" in an effort to distract the public from their criminal and immoral activity. Content Warning: Discussions of child abuse and sexual assault. Listener discretion advised. At just 24 years old, Sarah Landry found herself drawn to Hindu avatar Nithyananda's teachings like a fly to honey. Moldy, toxic honey. She quickly became an apt pupil, and then his top recruiter via a steady stream of stylized YouTube videos and camera-ready social content. But after learning that the rape and child abuse allegations dogging the organization were just too credible to simply swat away, she stepped down as its propagandist-in-chief and stepped up as one of its harshest critics. The fallout since she blew the whistle on the godman's shady ways in a series of incendiary 2019 Facebook posts and Youtube videos has been steep. (If you're labeled as a double-agent for the Vatican by loyalists of a guy who is on the lam after being charged with rape and abduction: You've officially reached Remini-levels of cult busting.) In this episode, and the next—there's just too much to cover to make it a one-parter—Sarah shares what it's like to be on the other side of an army she helped build, and why she won't stop working to deplatform culty characters like Nithyananda no matter how many self-proclaimed island nations they pull out of their asses. Kink, Intimacy, and Cannabis Lounge

This week's show was so much fun to record! And it has been a long time coming! After many scheduling attempts, we finally got Jessica Gonzalez, aka The Mommy Jane to join us in the lounge. We talk a little bit about what NLP, or neuro-linguistic programming, is and how it's useful. There were more than a few hilarious moments where we talked about imposter syndrome and what it's like to be an influencer. We chat about the importance of language and how we talk to ourselves. Jessica shares a terrifying experience that changed her life that all started with olive oil. We got the scoop on a new app where you can track your cannabis usage and the effects it has on you. Our conversation flows and we cover so many different topics so you better strap in for this one!Jessica Gonzalez is a California cannabis patient, NLP and mindset coach, wife, and mother of two young girls, residing in Northern California. After trading her prescription drug and wine abuse for plant medicine back in 2015, she discovered a wealth of health and knowledge from her own research and personal experiences regarding cannabis and plant medicine, which allowed her to overcome a myriad of physical and mental health issues. Knowing how impactful plant medicine was, but realizing the lack of education and awareness on social media, Jessica wanted to help others discover their path to health, wellness and success. As a mom on a mission, @themommyjane was born: a social media community dubbed “The Neighborhood'' where people could be educated, entertained and inspired. Jessica works hard every day sharing her knowledge and power with others and believes wholeheartedly that mindset, mindfulness and Mary Jane are the key to a fulfilling and abundant life. Key topics: ● Becoming “the mommyjane”● Parenthood and cannabis● The terrible stereotypes of stoners ● Mindfulness with Mary Jane● Cannabis as the anecdote to the pandemic● Some of Jessica's favorite products● Great cannabis resourcesResources: ● https://www.themommyjane.com● Instagram: @themommyjane● Sarah Landry: https://thebirdspapaya.com● SheWeed: https://sheweed.comCalls to action: ● Follow us on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/kiclounge● Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kicloungepodcast● Miss Mackenzee Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/MissMackenzee ● Miss Mackenzee Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/miss.mackenzee● Parker Leigh Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/MissParkerLeigh● Parker Leigh Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/Miss.Parker.LeighSupport the show (https://www.Paypal.me/PhillyDR)

Hello Mamas! We are so happy to be back in a groove with many more episodes coming your way... The balmy summer days are slowly turning into gentle, cooler days (hopefully on all fronts), and we are gearing up for September, not knowing what lies ahead. And that is even more reason why we are so excited to bring to you some truly special guests -- Anna Lozano and Lindy Sood -- Founders and CEOs of Love Powered Co - the affirmation company. They are moms on a mission to power the next generation of mindful leaders and make I AM affirmations a common practice in homes around the world. Their affirmations have been seen on The Marilyn Denis Show, Breakfast Television, Fox News, and enjoyed by influencers and celebrities including Sarah Landry of The Birds Papaya, Jaime King, Jully Black, Cheryl Hickey amongst many others! Wowza! Talk about powerhouses, amirite?! On the podcast, we chat with Anna and Lindy about the power of affirmations, how it changed their life and quite frankly, how they approached motherhood. Both of them were on their separate but simultaneous journey of self-discovery and personal growth, centered around self-love. Their lives were transforming before their eyes, these changes visible in the everyday nuances and intricacies of their life. While most people would consider affirmations unimportant or silly, Anna and Lindy leaned hard into practicing I AM affirmations in their household, so much so it became a daily ritual. They noticed how their energy level shifted whenever they would state an affirmation, and soon they noticed these feelings of positivity, confidence, inspiration, worthiness, calm, kindness, openness lasted long after their affirmation ritual was over. Imagine how powerful words can be -- to shape your thoughts, words, actions, and in essence, design your life. And more than that, if mindfulness practices are beneficial for us, as mamas, imagine the positive effects they have on our children! With these exact thoughts in mind, parallel life journeys, shared values, and a deep desire to birth something beautiful, life changing and meaningful, Anna and Lindy followed their creative and intuitive nudge to create affirmations that were powered with deep self-love, and so, Love Powered Co. was born. Some top takeaways from today's episode: Socio-cultural conditioning often teaches us to think that self-care, self-love is not important and those who do practice this are self-centered or self-absorbed. Well, Mama, here's a reality flash: Self-love, self-care, and self-worth are basic needs for you to not only survive, but also thrive in all areas of your life. You are not being self-centered when you affirm yourself. The way you speak to yourself is so important, Mama. Self-love is the highest form of kindness and love you can give to yourself. How you love yourself sets the tone for how you love others and the love you accept. And we all know the oxygen-mask-in-an-airplane analogy: Put your own mask on first before you go to help others. The same applies to motherhood, business, and your personal life. Instilling these practices within our daily routine is powerful, it makes a difference in our life and also impacts our kiddos. How beautiful is it to set the tone and raise empowered, conscious littles who know that the key to long lasting peace, joy, and success lies within themselves -- their self-love, their self-confidence, their self-worth. Everything you encounter in your life, motherhood, and business, there is an affirmation for that. Cheeky, we know! But it's true! Words are so powerful they have the power to shift your mood, your energetic vibration, and your whole life. That being said, embrace the squiggly lines and the highs and lows, the ebbs and flows. The journey to success in all areas of your life is non linear. Luck has nothing to do with it.
