Stone Temple Pilot's Robert DeLeo sits down with Kyle Meredith to take us through the 25th anniversary of Tiny Music…Songs From the Vatican Gift Shop. The bassist and lead songwriter recalls the environment that led the band to exploring new sounds, including bossa nova, jazz, and glam, and the musical conversation that happens between him and brother Dean. DeLeo also remembers the MTV Spring Break show that is included in the deluxe edition of the album package and how he got food poisoning after the show. We also hear about the late Scott Weiland's talent as a singer, poet, and the direction he was coming from on this set, and how the band have continued their sonic exploration on last year's acoustic Perdida LP, and his thoughts on the band's upcoming Aug 9th show at Sturgis. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
My guest on this week's episode of Suds & Search is Eric Enge, Principal at Perficient. Eric is one of the most recognizable faces in digital marketing. He is a frequent keynote speaker, a prolific writer, blogger, researcher, teacher, and entrepreneur. Eric has won numerous awards. In 2018, he was named Search Personality of the Year by the Drum Search Awards. In 2016, he was awarded Search Engine Land's Landy Award for Search Marketer of the Year and he also won US Search Awards Search Personality of the Year in 2016. Eric is the lead author of the book The Art of SEO, a 900+ page book that is frequently used as THE textbook for learning SEO. Eric started Stone Temple Consulting in 1997 and grew it to be one of the most celebrated brands in SEO. Stone Temple won numerous awards including the award for Best Large SEO Agency at the 2016 US Search Awards. In 2018, Perficient acquired Stone Temple Consulting. Under Eric's leadership, the accolades have continued to pour in including the 2019 Interactive Marketing Award for Best SEO Agency and Best Interactive Marketing Agency. He has written for nearly every major search marketing blog I can think of including, Search Engine Land, Search Engine Journal, Moz, Copyblogger and many others. I'm going to ask Eric about a link building study his team have been publishing annually in partnership with Moz. Eric also started the popular video series “Here's Why.” Our mutual friend Mark Traphagen was the co-host of the show for years. Eric recently brought Mark back on. I'm going to ask him a few questions about that episode which was about the power of user intent. Grab something cold to drink and join me for a conversation with inimitable, Eric Enge. We'll talk about why studying the past in digital marketing is so important, how to optimize for featured snippets (and why you shouldn't over-focus on snippets), and we'll talk a little bit about foosball and wine tennis. We had Blake Butler back in the studio again but you get to see him on video this time. Pretty much the show was all over the place today. Blackman talked about Shawshank Redemption and Vice, plus how much of those movies he was able to watch with his brother in town. Cat in the Hat is a funny movie that makes you dumb. Everyone sing Stone Temple Pilots and do a pretty bad job at it. Oh Matt Chapman was on the show and didn't talk over anyone this time. Season 3 Episode 5 of The Story of Rock and Roll Radio Show took place at 7 pm on 17 Sept 2020. Finally, the microphone quality is right and we are very close with the volume levels now. The show kicked off with a track called ‘Hit The Ground Running' off an EP by an Aussie band I saw in a pub in Perth around March 2010. It was such a great little band and even though they are long ago broken up, it's a real little gem and deserves airtime. Next up we had Fastway, with ‘All Fired Up' and then we got into the better-known bands, Motörhead, White Zombie, Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, stuff like that. New releases included the brand new Marilyn Manson with the title track of his album We Are Chaos and another track from Seether's latest album Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum called ‘Pride Before The Fall'. We had Punk with the Damned and Stiff Little Fingers, we had some Pixies and we nailed the metal with Children of Bodom and vintage Metallica and Megadeth. The grunge was ably handled by Alice in Chains and the Stone Temple pilots and Johnathan Martin and The Univited took care of South Africa. We were a bit light on the local stuff this week so expect a double dose next week. There was a little moment of self-indulgence where I said goodbye to little Libby a dearly loved family Italian Greyhound who left this earth on Monday. Asking Alexandria said the words in ‘Dedication' and Zakk Wylde played a moving solo in ‘The King'. All in all one of the best episodes in a long time I believe, see for yourself. Artists featured: Seether, Metallica, Tom Petty, Pixies, Fastrack, Five Finger Death Punch, Stiff Little Fingers, Zakk Wylde, The Uninvited, Marilyn Manson, Alice in Chains, Blackberry Smoke, Van Den Berg, Motörhead, U.D.O. Children of Bodom, Bruce Springsteen, Johnathan Martin, Sammy Hagar, Fastway, Megadeth, Krokus, Whitesnake, Foghat, Warrior Soul, The Rolling Stones, White Zombie, Sixx A.M., ACDC, Iron Maiden, Rose Tattoo, Slash's Snakepit, Stone Temple Pilots, Black Sabbath, Scorpions, Asking Alexandria, The Beatles & the Damned.
The Party has entered the Stone Temple of the Orc God-King. Here they are confronted with a familiar Green Skinned Orc and prepare for an epic showdown. However they quickly get the feeling that something is amiss. Will they live long enough to discover the answer or is the Green Skin too powerful.
Jacob and Aaron take a look at the readings for the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost, which are Genesis 28:10-19a, Romans 8:12-25, and Matthew 13:24-30,36-43.

Beginning as an engineer, Eric Enge slowly found his way into the world of SEO. Learning from his family of university professors, Eric developed an edge in the engineering industry which eventually led to his future career in marketing. But Eric's most notable award will always be winning the 1985 foosball world championship (Greg's dream). Eric Enge is a US Search Personality of the Year winner, Landy Awards: Search Marketer of the Year winner, co-author of "The Art of SEO", founder of Next10x Digital Marketing Conference, former founder and CEO of Stone Temple, and currently a general manager of Perficient Digital. Eric is also a contributor to Forbes, Search Engine Land, Search Engine Watch, Copyblogger, Moz, Marketing Land, and Social Media Today. Eric Enge, CEO at Stone Temple Consulting, spent 15 to 20 years providing SEO, content marketing, and social media for large enterprise clients, including several Fortune 50 clients. The company distinguishes itself with a strong commitment to solving actual problems, rather than pitching generic formulas and “hoping they stick.” Stone Temple Consulting became part of Perficient Digital, a $500 million public consulting firm, in July 2018, after a 3-month courtship. Today, Eric serves as General Manager of Perficient Digital. Lead co-author of The Art of SEO, the 900+ page “bible of SEO,” contributing author (Forbes, Search Engine Land, Marketing Land, Search Engine Watch, Copyblogger and Social Media Today), host of 2 live video broadcasts a week (The Digital Marketing Excellence Show and The Digital Marketing Answers Show) and a Coursera Instructor, Eric spent the first 10 years of his career at Phoenix Technologies, manufacturer of BIOS, a software piece that “boots” most of the world's computers, and then 5 years running his own business development consulting firm. He took a right turn when a friend asked him to build business development strategies for a DVD e-tail site. Eric researched ways to use search engines to drive traffic the company's page. A year later, organic searches had generated $3 million in annual sales. Eric became the SEO digital marketing expert. Approaching problems from unconventional angles is characteristic of his work. A global Fortune 200 e-commerce site that requested that Stone Temple audit their site, check the SEO, and add some content marketing to overall increase organic search traffic and sales from that traffic. Stone Temple discovered 95 percent of the company's business came from the US site, but Google spent 70% of its crawling time going to the international versions of the site. In a bold move, Stone Temple blocked Google's access to the international versions of the site. The result? Total aggregate site traffic increased 30% in 60 days. In this interview, Eric provides a wealth of information on: 1) the goal and impact of Google's 2018 updates (how to make query responses relevant to users—by looking at not only the content that answers user's question, but also the content that would answer the related questions that would tend to follow), 2) the role of “featured snippets” and “speakable markup.” (A featured snippet includes an answer that has been extracted from a webpage, a link to the page, the page title and the URL. Because the featured snippet block appears above the organic search results and below the AdWords block, it sits, not in position 1 of the Google search results, but in what is referred to as “position 0.”), and 3) the future of conversational interfaces. He asks what a good conversational interface looks like and what it will take to build it. “People will shift to voice experience,” he says, “once it becomes a better option for them than their keyboard experience.” Finally, Eric talks about “who to hire” and why and how he sold his company as he approaches his retirement Eric can be reached on Twitter at @stonetemple or on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/ericenge/.

Steve Stewart was manager of the band Stone Temple Pilots. He guided them from being an unknown funk band to a multi-platinum powerhouse whose sound is synonymous with 90's grunge. With Steve by STP's side, they sold over 25 million records, for nearly half a billion dollars in sales. But then the Internet happened. The record industry wasn't selling many CD's or records anymore. Fans were becoming a bigger part of helping music spread, and free music was key to the new success equation. Steve had to stand by helplessly as big music industry players shot themselves in the foot, and tightened their budgets in the process. But now, Steve is trying to fill in the gap that free music created. Now, imagine that Justin Bieber paid you. With Steve's new company, that could become true. Steve is now CEO of Vezt. With Vezt, music fans like you can buy a share of the future earnings of a song. So if you're a Justin Bieber fan, you could at some point buy a share of his song. (In case you're wondering, you can't "short" a song, these aren't stocks you're buying.) We're going to learn more about how that works in today's conversation. Find out: What artistic decisions did Stone Temple Pilots have to make in order to become a huge success? I take Steve back to the early days, and we find out why early-90's music critics have called him to apologize. How does Vezt fill in the hole that music-sharing created? Fans have become a part of the music promotion process, with Vezt, they'll start getting a piece of the pie. Blockchain companies are hot now, but the blockchain is not always relevant to the business model. What about blockchain technology makes Vezt possible? The rate of available technology gets faster and faster as time goes on. In fact, in as little as 30 years, we may reach the point of singularity, when computers and technology are so much smarter than us that all of the known laws of evolution break down. Whether you find this fascinating or frightening, you’ll love this conversation with Eric Enge. While we’ll dig into the possibilities for the future, we’ll also explore what these mean for us today, and how we can stay on top of SEO and organic Google rankings. Eric Enge founded Stone Temple in 2002 and the agency has won awards ranging from Best SEO Agency of the Year to Search Marketer of the Year. He is co-author of the popular book The Art of SEO, has served as a columnist in many leading publications, and co-authored an academic research paper published by the International Journal of Scientific Research and Management. More important to our listeners, he has conducted a 5,000 query test of the leading voice assistants available today, two years in-a-row. We dissect the results and discuss how voice SEO differs from traditional web and mobile search. Eric earned an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University and a Masters in Computer Science from UMass Amherst.
Video Marketing Mastery with Todd Hartley: Online Video Strategy | YouTube Tips | Video Production
The social media landscape is radically changing and marketers are scrambling to keep up with algorithm and privacy changes. As marketers, many people have gotten used to automating and mass publishing content to their social media audiences, but it looks like the time for those tactics is over. Gone are the days of mass tweeting, click-baiting and carpet bombing your audience with as much content as possible. New changes usher in a day where social media marketers will need to fundamentally change the way they’ve been engaging with their audience. So do we drop social media altogether and focus somewhere else? Is this mountain of changes scaleable, or are Facebook and Twitter trying to destroy your business? The harsh reality is that marketers are going to have to grow up and learn how to engage and delight their audiences. In this episode of Video Marketing Mastery, I talk with Mark Traphagan of Stone Temple about what’s going on with social media and the shifts we think will be vital for social media marketers in the future. We’ll talk about the kind of content, engagement, and interactions that you should have been doing all along to provide value to your audience. So if you’re ready to make the necessary changes to help you win on social media again, you don’t want to miss this episode. Click here to learn more about Mark Traphagen and the Stone Temple Team.
Today's Commexis Cast discusses a new study by Stone Temple that shows people are more open to using voice assistants in public than last year. Greg Sterling on Search Engine Land does a great breakdown of study, which shows that while people are still much more likely to use voice assistants in their home while alone, there has been a solid increase in individuals using voice in public. In addition, about 16% of people use voice search as their first point of contact when making a search query (mobile came ahead with 44% behind search bar searches at 18%). As the individual's preference for voice continues to grow, so too do the opportunities for advertisers to market their services using the features of voice assistants, or to advertise directly on some services. An eMarketer report from December 2017 shows just how willing some people would be to hearing ads through their in-home voice assistants. The answer: quite low. While the user opinion towards direct advertisements on these platforms seems low, the ability to appear in the search results of questions asked by users can still be just as relevant as it is normally on the web, especially with the increased use of voice services. In that same eMarketer report, they state that the "number of voice-enabled digital assistant users in the US will grow from 60.5 million this year to 75.5 million by 2019." Furthermore, "nearly nine in 10 people who had a voice assistant talked to it every day, while one-third said they used it more than five times per day." As voice grows, so too will the platforms ability to help businesses. We'll keep you up to date on voice assistants and voice search going forward. Today's cast: Phillip Brooks (Commexis Lead Strategist) and Matthew McGrorty (Commexis Videographer/Podcaster). Join the Commexis team as we add context to these stories for the busy CMO. Content research studies reveal which content performs best, garnering social-media shares and earning in-bound links. Few experts know as much about measuring the effectiveness of content as Eric Enge. Eric and I talked about research that can inform your content strategy for SEO, content marketing, and social media. The show notes below include links to research studies, blog posts, and other info we discussed in the interview. Eric's Bio Eric Enge was named 2016 Search Marketer of the Year (Male) at the Landys, and 2016 Search Personality of the Year at the US Search Awards, and Stone Temple Consulting was also named Best Large SEO Agency of the Year at the US Search Awards. Eric has been speaking about digital marketing for more than a decade. He keynotes many conferences every year, including Pubcon Las Vegas 2017 in a joint keynote with Gary Illyes, and State of Search. Eric is co-author of The Art of SEO, and also writes columns in sites such as Search Engine Land and Moz. Eric is the Founder and CEO of Stone Temple Consulting, a 70+ person digital marketing agency based in Massachusetts. Stone Temple is a leading provider of SEO consulting services, content marketing services, and social media services. Stone Temple's clients include some of the world's largest e-tail sites and brands. Show Notes Here is info on the research studies that Eric and I discussed. Top Content of 2017 Stone Temple recently published The Most Linked Content of 2017. This post is Eric's analysis of a dataset provided by BuzzSumo of the year's most-linked-to content-marketing content. Eric looked at 1,021 pieces of content, each of which had garnered more than 300 links and each of which had wide social media sharing. Eric discovered that, not surprisingly, news stories from big media outlets topped this list. But some of his findings suggest opportunities for non-huge brands. Studies, for example, came in second and "represent one of the major opportunities for driving content-marketing success for a business." Even a small company can conduct, for example, survey research and then report on it through their unique market lens to create a valuable, share-able study. No Correlation between Social Shares and In-Links Eric pointed out that his study aligns with similar findings in a Moz/BuzzSumo study that showed a lack of correlation between links to and shares of more than 1 million pieces of content. While it might seem logical to assume that highly shared content would earn more links, and vice versa, it turns out that that's rarely the case: "We know that certain types of content, such as cute baby or animal photos, can get tons of social shares, but they don’t get very many links. We also know that each marketplace behaves quite differently. The number of people that may share political news and commentary posts includes significant portions of the general population that don’t have the ability to implement links to content. In contrast, the relative proportions of 'sharers' and 'linkers' in other markets, such as science or technology, are probably quite different." Which Digital Personal Assistant Is Smartest We also talked about some original Stone Temple research on personal digital assistants like Google Home and Amazon Echo. Stone Temple asked each of the four major voice-activated devices (Home, Echo, Cortana, and Siri) the same 5,000 questions. They also did a Google search on each query to set a baseline. I have a no-spoiler policy, so I'll let you read the article to see which gadget came out on top. While this research is interesting in its own right, it's also a great of example of what Eric had said earlier about how studies are a great content type for grabbing attention. This study has been widely cited, including coverage in major media sources like Inc., Business Insider, and the Wall St. Journal. The Upshot Our conversations culminated with Eric observing that "we are all under-invest...

Is dat in jouw optiek nog steeds belangrijk? Romano: Kwaliteit over kwantiteit. Be the content you want to find. Verplaats je in de bezoeker en maak de ultieme pagina voor hem. Mensen moeten er niet omheen kunnen. Dat trekt links aan. Studies met unieke data trekt ook veel links aan, type content bijvoorbeeld.
