Chugs (aka Adam Cole) & Evil Uno co-host the new podcast, All Elite Arcade, and discuss a fraction of what you'll hear on their weekly show! They share the video games and consoles that got them into gaming as kids, debate the merits of Xbox vs Playstation vs Switch vs PC gaming (and yes, they each have a favorite), recommend the best games to try if you're new to gaming, and reveal the games they're actively playing now! There's discussion about VR, Sega Genesis, Wii, mobile games, and video games turned into TV series and movies (like The Super Mario Brothers Movie, The Last Of Us, Fall Out, and Sonic the Hedgehog). Normally, when you hear "A tradition unlike any other", you think The Masters, as that's the slogan. However, it is a slogan that more closely describes THE DEUCIE AWARDS!! For the 11th time, Dave and Mikey, now joined by #XLessDrEarl, preside over the "people's movie awards"... and the top 10 of the year as well! And to assist, the Deucecast crew invites in many friends of the show, from Burgess to Kaufman to Aussie to the Ryfuns and even more -- with an assist from The Main Street Electrical Podcast co-host Jenn Novotny, it's quite an award-fest! In addition, Dave, Mikey, and Dr Earl give their own fave films of the year -- you can likely guess the films that make all three lists, but there are a few out of left field as well. Make sure to catch Ep 621 from a few weeks ago, where we do our "just outside the top ten" list... Make sure to follow along with the winners! The Academy Awards are finally completed, which means the Awards Season has but one stop... the Deucie Awards. And to give out the awards, you need the nominations... so tonight, two special guests and Friends of the Show step up to reveal all that you have been wishing for (and you'll find below) First, though, Mikey, d$, and #XLessDrEarl discuss a little Oscar recap -- what was snubbed, the surprises, the chalk of it all, the good parts and the bad. Then, they take a look at their fave films of the year, and while all of their Top 10s are coming up in a few weeks, along with the actual Deucie Awards, they look just outside the Top 10, at numbers 11 through 15 on their lists. What just missed out on Mikey's Top 10, sitting in that next 5? What made d$'s 11 to 15, that may have made in the other guys top 10s? And what movies are crossovers, appearing on everyone's lists? And then finally... the nominations are out... The Super Mario Brothers Movie made $1.36B at the box office, shattering records and solidifying the power of gaming IP on the big screen. Transmedia across TV and Film is an active growth strategy for many gaming companies, and a high number of works are in the pipeline as Hollywood looks towards games as a fertile ground for untold stories. Alexandra Takei, Director at Ruckus Games, hosts Roy Lee, producer of films like the LEGO Movie, IT, and LEGO Batman. He is slated to produce Microsoft's 2025 Minecraft Movie, God of War TV and film properties, a Bioshock film, a Shadow of Colossus film, and more. What is the deal-making process for gaming adaptations? What price are studios willing to pay? How much should studios be involved? What games lend themselves to being adapted, and what makes an adaptation successful? We cover this and so much more in today's discussion. This week on THE BIG 4-0, Ron and Peter wish a happy birthday to the surprisingly fun Duddly Moore/Natasia Kinski/Armand Asante/Albert Brooks farce, UNFAITHFULLY YOURS (a movie neither of us had ever heard anything about until this pod) and, inspired by BROADWAY DANNY ROSE a few weeks ago, we also look back at Woody Allen's seminal ANNIE HALL, a first-time watch for Ron. And as a bonus, at the top of the episode we discuss several recent - and not so recent - films we each watched over the last week or so, including BIRD ON A WIRE, THE SUPER MARIO BROTHERS MOVIE, THE GREATEST NIGHT IN POP, HEARTBURN, IN THE LINE OF FIRE, DRAGON FORCE, THE HOLDOVERS, EVIL DEAD RISE, and LEAVE THIS WORLD BEHIND among a few others. Please remember to Rate, Like, and Subscribe, and we'll be back next week to dance the night away celebrating The Big 4-0's of FOOTLOOSE and BLAME IT ON RIO!

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes Warner Bros has officially delayed Dune: Part 2 until next year, scheduled to release March 15, 2024. The move is unsurprising, given the ongoing, concurrent Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes, but no less disappointing for Dune diehards. The hotly anticipated sequel took Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire's original release date, shifting that film back by a month. The animated feature The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim was also delayed about 8 months moving from April 12, 2024 to Dec. 13, 2024. It's not all doom and gloom for Dune fans though, as director Denis Villenueve teased a possible third installment for the series. In more disappointing news (and the cause of the aforementioned delays), just 2 weeks removed from what seemed to be the most promising progress made since the Writers strike began, negotiations between the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), have reached a complete standstill. Both parties have publicly slammed each other in the last week, with sources from each indicating there are currently no discussions for a return to the negotiating table. Marvel Studios has released a trailer for “Marvel Studios: The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline” a new coffee table book that serves as an official guide to the MCU timeline. The 344 page book contains exclusive infographics, timelines, and stills that aims to be the go-to resource for fans and filmmakers who are hoping to connect the dots and truly understand the web of interconnections between the different Marvel Studios movies and streaming series. It will deconstruct every moment” from the 15-year history of the MCU and covers everything from the first film with 2008's “Iron Man,” to the upcoming second season of the Disney+ series “Loki” and is available for pre-order, releasing on October 24th. Barbie has officially passed the Super Mario Brothers Movie to become the highest grossing film in North America of 2023. Adult Swim animated series Rick and Morty will officially begin its 7th season on Sunday, October 15th. The new season will also be available to stream on Max and Hulu in its entirety sometime in 2024. Gran Turismo took the number one spot at the domestic box office this weekend with a muted $17.3 million dollar outing. Blue Beetle took third place behind Barbie with a $12.8 million dollar take domestically, a drop of nearly 50%. Arleen Sorkin, the original voice of Harley Quinn from Batman: The Animated Series, has passed away at the age of 67. Disney+ is not moving forward with The Spiderwick Chronicles, its live action series adaptation of the popular children's fantasy books. The 8 episode series from Paramount Television Studios and 20th Television has been completed and is currently being shopped by Paramount to other potential buyers. Disney+ has also decided not to stream Nautilus, a big budget prequel to Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Disney says that it is working to find a new home for Nautilus. “Killers of the Flower Moon” will hit theaters October 20, with a streaming debut on Apple TV Plus to follow at an undetermined date. This pivots from a previously-announced limited rollout set for October 6. Ridley Scott Has a ‘Fantastic' Cut of ‘Napoleon' That Runs Four-and-a-Half Hours and Features Way More Joséphine

Movies based on popular characters can go one of two ways. The first is that the property is treated like crap, the end result is horrible and critics crap all over it. The other way is that a great movie is made, satisfying fans all over the world and raking in lots of money…and the critics crap all over it. This is definitely a category 2 situation, but it's okay because The Super Mario Brothers Movie is not that bad. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Oh drat! Some might say this week's episode is a travesty. But why would anyone ever delete the best podcast about The Velvet Underground and the 143rd greatest album of all time, The Velvet Underground (without Nico). Before we get to the music, we invite you to the room where it happens to discuss monster trucks, the most expensive concert tickets we've ever purchased, and the best things to do in Vegas. We also review The Super Mario Brothers Movie, go on an epic rant about fancy ballpark food, and discuss what it's like to date a cheerleader. We also confirm that we have nothing to say about the Octomom. Then at (56:00), Candy says it's time to talk about The Velvet Underground and their self-titled folk rock album from 1969. We discuss spoken word tracks, the Juno soundtrack, and the best female drummers of all time. Next week we'll try not to make you sick again when we trample you under our feet for the best Led Zeppelin podcast, when we cover the 1975 hard rock album, Physical Graffiti.
First off, sorry for the weird feedback whenever I talk on this episode. My soundboard was not cooperating like it normally does. One part I of episode 70 we review the Super Mario Brothers Movie. Although I don't think we really spoil the movie, if you don't want to know absolutely anything about it feel free to skip this one or just play it in the background so we can get that listenership. David and I discuss the 3 things we love and hate about the movie. Which in the end as fans I guess we sound kind of hypercritical. Twas a fun start to this episode so I hope y'all enjoy it. The new Super Mario Brothers movie is an absolute delight that has taken the world by storm. It is without a doubt the best family movie to hit the big screens this year, and it's not difficult to see why. The film is an exciting and visually stunning adventure that perfectly captures the spirit and charm of the classic video game franchise. It is full of vibrant colors, imaginative characters, and an action-packed storyline that will keep both kids and adults entertained from start to finish. The cast is also exceptional, with each actor bringing their unique energy and charisma to their respective roles. Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, and Jack Black as Bowser are just a few of the standout performances that help bring the beloved characters to life. But what really sets this movie apart is its ability to appeal to both longtime fans of the franchise and newcomers alike. Whether you grew up playing the classic Super Mario games or have never picked up a controller in your life, the film offers something for everyone. Overall, the new Super Mario Brothers movie is an amazing family film that should not be missed. It's a true testament to the enduring popularity and timeless appeal of one of the most beloved video game franchises of all time. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theyoungbloods/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theyoungbloods/support
With such a huge week for Nintendo, who else could we get to talk about it but Andre Segers (@andresegers) from GameXplain? Of course, we start with the juggernaut that is the Super Mario Brothers Movie. On the day of recording, it had just passed the $500 million plateau, and still hadn't opened in Japan yet. In a spoiler-filled chat, we discuss the plot (does it matter it was straightforward?), the voice acting (such a talking point prior to release) and some of the criticisms the picture has gotten from mainstream film critics. From there, we talk about the last trailer for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom before its release in about a month. We look at the new elements in this version, including finally getting some clue about the plot, the game mechanics and how silly the idea was that it was “just a $70 DLC for Breath of the Wild.” Andre tells us about his trip to the opening of Super Nintendo World in California, although he still hasn't had the change to go to the park in Japan. We end with the pain Andre went through to replay Paper Mario Sticker Star on its tenth anniversary. He famously hated the game when it came out and we chat about why there may have been extenuating circumstances then and have his feelings toward the game after all this time. It was obviously a big week for GameXplain, so we thank Andre for finding the time to do the show again.

Nicole and Rolando are back from their short break and they're kicking things off with Illuminations' commercially successful "The Super Mario Brothers Movie." But first, they're diving deep into the 1993 disasterpiece that Nintendo wishes never happened. Why did "Super Mario Bros." flop so hard? Did the critics have a point? And how does the new flick stack up against 2023's bubbly nostalgia? Grab your popcorn and listen in as the hosts give their take on one of the biggest movie flops of all time and one of this year's most lucrative film.
