I discuss the latest document The Bibi Files and how this is a must watch for the awake. I discuss how the public will scratch and claw to justify their involvement in public schooling but how this is an unwinnable argument. I also bring up how colleges are changing their tune on DEI programs in their institutions and how it's bad for business, and how the FDOE is about to be abolished and families are about to be given the greenlight to leave government run schools forever. It's been fifty years since the end of the Vietnam War, yet the memory of the war lives on, the nationwide protests of the 1970s mirroring ones happening on college campuses today. In today's episode we take a panoptic overview of the political debates in Washington, the ground and air operations in Southeast Asia, and the shocking erosion of American defense capabilities. We also dive into the five-decade-old question of whether the Vietnam War could have been won (proponents say victory could come by such strategy as Americans invading Laos and Cambodia and cutting off the Ho Chi Minh Trail; opponents say such policies as “search and destroy” led to recruitment of more Viet Cong soldiers rather than reduce their numbers). We're joined by Geoffrey Wawro, author of “The Vietnam War: A Military History.” We discuss whether the American war in Vietnam was a war of choice, pursued for all the wrong reasons. Shedding light on the inner workings of three presidential administrations and their field commanders, we look at political power, its limits, and the devastation that arises when power is compounded by willful delusion and carelessness in the White House, Congress, and the Pentagon.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

College football (including its TV partners) usually gets out of the NFL's way. But when the 12-team Playoff arrives this December, the two levels of the sport will be head-to-head in a way they almost never are, especially since college's powers that be made a tactical retreat from Thursday night. Is it surprising that the Playoff and ESPN would counterprogram the NFL? Was it avoidable? Should we, as fans of the sport, care? And why is CFB finally so comfortable existing on its own, even on the same day as the NFL? Production: Anthony Vito. Bonus episodes: https://www.splitzoneduo.com This is a public episode. History is filled with examples of failed attempts to 'conquer the world.' Americans seceded from the greatest military power that the world had ever seen, in the British Empire. America would be different. It would be the 'land of the free.' And for a while, it was different. Never have so many individuals had so much freedom, and never was so much prosperity created by a single nation. But alas, the ideas of 'conquering the world,' took over and the downward slide began. As the dustbin of failed empires waits for its newest member, the American people must re-learn and re-implement the ideas of Liberty.

"The footsteps of man are directed by G‑d". From this verse our Rabbeim learned that G-d preordains the time, place, and situation in which we find ourselves. Practically, as today's letters demonstrate, this means there is no such thing as a truly unwinnable situation--and that those who blame the time and place for their lack of success are simply incorrect. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/yechiel-krisch1/support
The Roman empire was used to getting its own way – but there was one power it was never able to overcome. Despite frequent bouts of warfare, the Parthian and later Persian empire managed to hold its own against Rome for more than six centuries, until a new force emerged that would transform the Middle East forever. Historian of the ancient world Adrian Goldsworthy speaks to Rob Attar about the evolving relationship between Rome and Persia, and explains why neither was ever able to vanquish the other. The empire is still knowingly throwing Ukrainian lives into the meat grinder of an unwinnable proxy war, even as western officials tell the public that this war is about saving Ukrainian lives and handing Putin a crushing defeat whenever they're on camera. Reading by Tim Foley.

The epic story of the imperial rivalry between two of the greatest empires of the ancient world – Parthian and Persian – and how they rose and eventually fell. The Roman empire shaped the culture of the western world against which all other great powers are compared. Stretching from the north of Britain to the Sahara, and from the Atlantic coast to the Euphrates, it imposed peace and prosperity on an unprecedented scale. However, the exception lay in the east, where the Parthian and then Persian empires ruled over great cities and the trade routes to mysterious lands beyond. This was the place Alexander the Great had swept through, creating a dream of glory and conquest which tantalised Greeks and Romans alike. Caesar, Mark Antony and a long succession of emperors longed to follow in Alexander's footsteps. All failed. Only here did the Roman empire slow down and eventually stop, unable to go any further.Following seven centuries of conflict that, ultimately, neither Rome nor Persia would win, The Eagle and the Lion delves into the clash, context and journeys of these entities of great power and the people caught in their wider struggle.Adrian Goldsworthy has a doctorate from Oxford University. His first book, THE ROMAN ARMY AT WAR was recognised by John Keegan as an exceptionally impressive work, original in treatment and impressive in style. He has gone on to write several other books, including THE FALL OF THE WEST, CAESAR, IN THE NAME OF ROME, CANNAE and ROMAN WARFARE, which have sold more than a quarter of a million copies and been translated into more than a dozen languages. A full-time author, he regularly contributes to TV documentaries on Roman themes.
A new article in Foreign Affairs reveals that neocons and neolibs in Washington, DC have decided that Ukraine cannot win the war with Russia, and that there is no benefit to the West in continuing to fight. 5) US foreign policy cartel admits defeat in Ukraine; 4) Tucker Carlson says Trump is being prosecuted because he opposes endless wars, which are profitable for the Deep State; 3) Ayatollah Khomeini admitted in recent speech that Iran lied when it agreed to 2015 nuclear deal; 2) Netherlands begins Great Reset plan to gut key Dutch agriculture industry to meet EU's green agenda; 1) Chicago-area man shoots self in leg while dreaming that his home is being burglarized.
We got together to discuss the war in Ukraine. Currently the US is continuing to send money and military equipment to Ukraine, but conditions on the battlefield are at a stalemate, with neither side able to win the war not on the verge of surrendering either. We discussed the levels of US aid to Ukraine, in terms of money and arms. We also discussed the profits made by American military suppliers and other corporations. Importantly we also have responded to the "NATO Left" which is shouting for more aid to Ukraine and engaging in McCarthyist attacks on people calling for negotiations to end the war, as well as pointing out the follow of self-described leftists who are pro-Russia and pro-Putin. Finally, we discussed the scope of ruling class concern over the war--manifested in calls for talks by the likes of JCS Chair Mark Milley, the Rand Corporation, and Foreign Affairs, to name a few. And we ended by discussing the risks involved in a continued war, particularly with escalating tensions with China, and the way that spending in Ukraine has taken attention away from the myriad crises we face in the U.S. ------------------------------------------------------ Outro- "No More War" by Markus K Links// + CFR: How Much Aid Has the U.S. Sent Ukraine? This week Latino USA shares an episode of the USA v. García Luna podcast, from Futuro Investigates and Lemonada Media. Genaro García Luna's trial is over, but Maria and Peniley's investigative work is not. In this episode, they learn that a U.S. senator has requested the DEA and the FBI information on García Luna, including the names of the U.S. officials who vetted him. We listen to some of our series' protagonists react to the guilty verdict, and Peniley digs into what's next for García Luna. Finally, our hosts reflect on why the war on drugs was always unwinnable, and they get into some chisme, going behind the scenes of this series. To hear more of USA v. García Luna, head to futuroinvestigates.org.

I think we talked about Korean food more than video games this week. THINGS MENTIONED: The Vice Munchies video about Army Base Stew. Maangchi on YouTube. Saniya Ahmed's funny tweet. Polygon on Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4's announcement. A Kotaku article about Adam Sessler, Tarks Gauntlet and G4's weirdly racist past since some of those original tweets are gone. A GameSpot article about the proposed names for the XBOX. Saniya Ahmed's column for Unwinnable. Our cool sounds and intro/outro music are by GEIST and our show art is by Kai at Wisp Graphics. We should probably talk more about the fact that the US empire is loudly promoting the goal of achieving peace in Ukraine by defeating Russia while quietly acknowledging that this goal is impossible. This is like accelerating toward a brick wall and pretending it's an open road. The narrative that Russia can be defeated by escalating against it makes sense if you believe Russia can be defeated, but the US empire does not believe that Russia can be defeated. It knows these escalations are only going to exponentially ramp up death and devastation. Reading by Tim Foley.
Cthulhu Fhtagn! This week on the Vintage RPG Podcast, we check out Chaosium's new Call of Cthulhu sourcebook, Cults of Cthulhu. Despite the big squid being in the title of the game, the Great Old One is oddly absent in the majority of the RPG's material, partly because he's snoozing on the job, mostly because Nyarlathotep, that ham, steals the spotlight. This book aims to correct that by sketching the history and structure of a global Cthulhu cult that's a worthy foil for investigators. Who cares if he's asleep when his agents lurk in every shadow? * * * We got you covered with Noble Knight through September 14 with code ARCANA. Use it for 10% off purchases online and in store!
