Walt Disney World Removing Face Mask Requirements for Outdoor Rides, Queues, and Attractions Beginning Thursday, August 19, face coverings will also be optional for Guests in outdoor attractions, outdoor queues, and outdoor theaters at Walt Disney World Resort. As a reminder, face coverings remain required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) while indoors and in Disney buses, monorail, and Disney Skyliner, regardless of vaccination status. Disney Genie Service to Reimagine the Guest Experience at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort We're almost ready to let Disney Genie out of the lamp! Coming this fall to Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, Disney Genie is a complimentary and convenient new digital service designed to create your best Disney day. We've been listening to your feedback – you want planning to be easier, you want more flexibility and you want better tools to help you make the most of your visit – and that's exactly what Disney Genie is here to do. We've made significant investments in this cool new technology, which guides you through our theme parks with tips that can help you reduce time in lines, discover magic around every corner, and take the guesswork out of “what's next.” Built right into the My Disney Experience and Disneyland apps, the Disney Genie service will maximize your park time, so you can have more fun. It includes a personalized itinerary feature that will quickly and seamlessly map out an entire day. From specific attractions, foodie experiences and entertainment, to general interests like Disney princesses, villains, Pixar, Star Wars, thrill rides, and more – just tell Disney Genie what you want to do and it will do the planning for you. Here are a few more features: Get Itinerary Updates from Morning to Night: Disney Genie will continue to update your itinerary throughout your day, so you can be more spontaneous and go with the flow. Find Your Favorites at a Glance: Create your very own personal tip board to instantly see your favorites. It will display current AND forecasted future wait times, helping you predict when you might experience quicker entry to attractions. Enjoy More Flexibility and Fun: Disney Genie brings existing planning features together in one place. Join a virtual queue at certain attractions, make dining and experience reservations, mobile order food at many locations, get help from a virtual assistant, and more. For even more convenience and flexibility, there are two other options for enjoying our theme parks, through a queue we are introducing called the Lightning Lane entrance that also saves you time in line: Disney Genie+ service (available for purchase): For the price of $15 per ticket per day at Walt Disney World Resort and $20 per ticket per day at Disneyland Resort, choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance. Throughout the day, you can make one selection at a time, from classics like Haunted Mansion to thrill rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and newer favorites like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (attractions subject to limited availability). This convenient option is the next evolution of the fan-favorite Disney MaxPass service from Disneyland Resort. Disney Genie+ will also include Disney parks-themed audio experiences and photo features to capture your memories – augmented reality lenses for those visiting Walt Disney World Resort and unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads from your day if you are visiting Disneyland Resort. Individual attraction selections (available for purchase): Schedule a time to arrive at up to two highly demanded attractions each day using the Lightning Lane entrance – like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom Park and Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure park (subject to limited availability; attractions not included with Disney Genie+). Pricing for this option will vary by date, attraction, and park and will be announced closer to launch. Lightning Lane selections will be made on the same day of your visit and can be used across multiple theme parks, great for those who love the Park Hopper option. Attractions continue to offer a traditional standby queue, or a virtual queue at certain attractions like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – to maximize flexibility. While the FASTPASS, FastPass+, and Disney MaxPass services will be retired, we're incredibly excited about the flexibility and choices the Disney Genie service provides. You can choose from all of our new options, a mix of them or none at all, and continue to have a great experience no matter how you decide to plan your best Disney day. We are also making some enhancements to our Disability Access Service (DAS) program, including new options to enroll in the program pre-arrival and for DAS participants to select attractions directly in the app. These options will be available in addition to our existing, in-person DAS program. Visit our Services for Guests with Disabilities page DisneyWorld.com and Disneyland.com for more details. In 2019, Disney opened the gates to their newly created Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge lands. For the first time, fans got to actually ride the legendary Millennium Falcon in a brand new, super high tech attraction. In this week's episode, we're pulling back the curtains to see how Disney brought such a well known space craft to life. Music by Colin Paul
The guys answer listener questions on topics including Epcot pavilions, best resort breakfast, best food or meal at Disney, and first/last day rituals. DVC has increased the minimum direct point purchase required to receive member perks. Disney is officially taking over ownership of the Morocco pavilion and the guys discuss if any changes will take place. Damon talks about some new Disney Plus movies and shows that he’s looking forward to. Disney’s All Star Movies resort is now scheduled to open next year and the Friendship boats between Epcot and Hollywood Studios will reopen next month. The sign for Space 220 was accidentally revealed and there is a rumored new opening date. A new rumor states that Disney will be adding Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Jungle Cruise to the virtual queue system. According to another recent rumor, the TRON Lightcycle coaster will not open in time for WDW’s 50th Anniversary.
In deze aflevering kijken we terug op een bezoek aan Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disney's Hollywood Studios. We bespreken uitgebreid de attracties Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run en Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
Dispodopolis - Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and everything in between
This month on Dispodopolis, we discuss Star Wars Land: Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire Outpost. We had been waiting anxiously until our trip this spring to finally experience the new land created for the world of Star Wars. I have waited 42 years to be able to walk into this environment. Ever since the creation of this galaxy appeared on screen in 1977, Generation X has been dreaming of a time when they could become apart of that world. This is probably not Fiona's favorite subject and she seems to be clinging to her latest obsession with the Muppets, but don't worry we have a great conversation about the Star Wars: Galaxy Edge as well as the Muppets. Before we talk about the new Star Wars Land, we decide which position on the new attraction Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run we like or want to try the most. You can choose from Pilot, Gunner, or Engineer. Recorded to release on April 30th, 2020.

This is Lorenzo's long-overdue chat with Kevin about all things Galaxy's Edge! We were waiting for Rise of the Resistance to open up so we could have a full comprehensive discussion about the new land at Disneyland and Disney Hollywood Studios. How does Galaxy's Edge stack up against other recent immersive theme park lands? Are Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run worthwhile experiences in the parks? This episode was recorded before all Disney Parks closed down to stop the spread of COVID-19. Kevin and Lorenzo do hope everyone is safe and practicing good social distancing! Editing this episode for me, Lorenzo, has been a great comfort as it's the closest form of visiting the parks I've had since the Disneyland parks closed on March 14th. Star Tours is a beloved attraction. It was a revolutionary ride in the theme park industry at the time and was the spiritual predecessor of attractions like Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. Now that Batuu exists and another spiritual successor Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run is now entertaining guests, should Star Tours still exist? Listen as the boys engage in a lively debate to answer this question and to decide once and for all, which is better, Star Tours in the flailing tomorrow land or Star Tours in the identity crisis laden Disney's Hollywood Studios? For the first time ever, the Backlotboys are recording LIVE from the Disneyland Resort in Sunny (but chilly) Anaheim, California! This is a two-part podcast, blended into one with the first segment recorded at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and the second from inside Galaxy's Edge. During the first 20 minutes we go over hopes, dreams, expectations of the new Star Wars-themed land; the remaining 20 includes our reactions to the new land and everything that goes with it! We discuss everything from blue milk to restroom cleanliness as we navigate the mean streets of Black Spire. Watch Goodtimeswithscar roll into Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities where he is appointed the fabled Dual-phase Sith lightsaber. Two, red Kyber Crystals illuminate his Diatium-powered combat noodle, and there is no telling how many of those still hiding out on Mon Cala will suffer as Goodtimeswithscar wields this terrible swift sword. Is Smugglers Run accessible? YES! Listen and find out how the Disneyland version of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run accommodates those needing a little extra time boarding and de-planing the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. Whether your destined to be a pilot, gunner, or ship engineer, there is a role and requirement for everyone contracted by Hondo Ohnaka himself. Speaking of Hondo, is it me, or does it seem like it'd itch to have those horns protruding from your jaw area? We dined on the finest, dodged the imperialist, and froze our rumps off to bring to you a live, on-site podcast from the Black Spire Outpost. The least you could do, in the comments, is let us know which Star Wars character (from A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi) Goodtimeswithscar most closely resembles!
We continue our series of Disneyland 2019 trip report shows. For this episode, we discuss our thoughts and experiences with Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. More review @yournerdside website. Then we sit down with Legion M the fan invested movie company. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disneyland It's not exactly a Fast & Furiousbeef– or a physical brawl like the recent one at Disneyland– but a Disney Parks executive took a clear shot at the insane 10-hour wait times initially reported for Universal Orlando Resort's Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure in defense of Disneyland's own Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Without naming the Hagrid ride — because he didn't have to — here's what Disney's Chairman of Parks, Experiences, and Products Bob Chapek said about the “win” of Disneyland's Galaxy's Edge wait times: One of the wins that we had with the opening of the original Galaxy's Edge is that we didn't have the waits. The deep secret is that we don't intend to have lines … If you build in enough capacity, the rides don't go down and it operates at 99% efficiency, you shouldn't have 10-hour lines. So, 10-hour lines are not a sign of success. It should be seen as a sign of, frankly, failure Wands vs. lightsabers! He's right, though. It's tough to argue that a 10-hour wait time is a good thing. Sure, it sounds like there's a lot of excitement and hype for the attraction, but on a practical level YOU go wait 10 hours with a 9-year-old. A few months ago, Universal felt the double-edged sword of headlines about the Hagrid ride's opening, with that early 10-hour-wait news probably exciting some fans while making others think they'd better just stay away for a long while. That Hagrid ride was so popular for a time that the park had to cut hours for a couple of weeks for maintenance. The Disney Parks exec got on the defense a bit (via CNBC) because Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge has been in the news for being tied to the slight 3% downturn in Disneyland attendance this summer. He sees the positives, tied to a concerted effort by the company to manage crowds. CinemaBlend's own Disney expert also pointed out many positives in the lighter foot traffic at Disneyland, including that shorter lines make for a better park experience. Disney execs have noted that Galaxy's Edge is currently the most popular area in Disneyland, per Disney's own customer satisfaction scores. That said, one Disneyland employee recently spoke out to press about Disneyland reportedly cutting workers' hours because they expected Galaxy's Edge to be busier this summer. This employee said wait times for the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride were expected to be over 2-hours long all summer, but instead lines were averaging half that or less. There's a wide chasm between a wait of one hour and a wait of 10 hours. Obviously waiting less time is better for the visitor, and I agree that long lines is not a sign of success. I think “failure” is harsh, but a 10-hour wait time certainly suggests the demand was more than they were ready to handle. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge filled up in under an hour on its opening day in Disneyland, and now Disney World is going through the various wait time and virtual queue system updates as it welcomes its own Galaxy's Edge land. Disney's Bob Chapek added that the goal when they launch the new Rise of the Resistance attraction is to make it “a success under the guest experiential definition. We don't define success as a picture of a long line.” If the guests who actually go to the park and get into the ride enjoy it, that's what matters most. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opens first at the Galaxy's Edge in Disney World in Florida on December 5, 2019, and then at Disneyland in California on January 17, 2020.

The Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Experience & It Chapter 2 Press Junket Sean, Kevin and Jake are back this week to unpack the news that Martin Scorsese's latest film, The Irishman (starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci), will reported be 3.5 hours long. Main Entrance Cast: Talking Theme Parks, Musing over Museums, and So Much More!
Welcome to episode three of the Main Entrance Cast. Our co-host Katie is on vacation so Teknikipedia goes solo in the studio. But, we still have amazing content to bring you! We are excited to introduce a whole new segment. The "Side Door" will bring you interviews from listeners just like you!. We're starting with an amazing interview, Libby Champion, creator of the Hid In Parks Instagram feed and participant in the NASA Social program! Even though she's not at her regular microphone, direct from her vacation trip, Katie (and her hubby) provide us with a review of the all-new Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland in California! News (1:35): Nick talks about a circus in Germany that is making waves by using holographic animals in the place of real animal performers. Could this be a step in the right direction toward a higher level of morality for circuses, zoos, and marine parks? Attraction Review (6:36): Katie and her husband, Duncan, bring us a review of the new Galaxy's Edge land at Disneyland in California. Hear about their experiences and thoughts on the new Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run attraction, the shops and restaurants at the land, and of course, the food! Interview (33:23): As part of our commitment to bring listeners into the Main Entrance Cast family, we had the amazing opportunity to speak with Libby Champion, creator of the Hid_In_Parks feed on Instagram. In this feed, Libby shows off the details that make our beloved parks and resorts so great. Head on over to Hid_In_Parks now to learn something new that will blow your mind. Big thanks to Libby for the great interview! Also, as part of this, we hope to create a whole new segment of the show that can bridge the gaps between our regular episodes. Stay tuned to learn more as we get this new endeavor rolling! Trivia & Wrap Up (1:11:54): Last Episode's Trivia Question: In this episode, we mentioned that George Lucas collaborated with Disney on Captain EO, Star Tours, and the Indiana Jones attractions. But there was another attraction that he helped develop that is no longer with us. What was that attraction? Last Episode's Trivia Answer: The Extra-Terrorestrial Alien Encounter This Episode's Trivia Question: In this episode, we talked about hidden details in theme parks. Disney, in particular, uses a very special type of hidden detail to honor individuals who made significant contributions to their theme parks. In what form do these honorariums take? If you think you know the answer, drop us a line in the GOAFerbox at connect@mainentrance cast.com. Also, we’re excited to announce that the Main Entrance Cast is coming to Amazon Alexa on Monday, June 17. The Main Entrance Cast Thought of the Day can be added to your daily flash briefing through the Alexa skill store. The Thought of the Day will feature bits of trivia, news, musings, and other random thoughts to start your day. New updates will come out every weekday! Thanks for listening, now Go Out and Fun!
http://www.attractionchecklist.com - In this episode we visit Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland to take THREE rides on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Recorded on June 3, 2019. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This is a special supersized episode of Attraction Checklist as we celebrate the opening of Galaxy’s Edge with not one but THREE rides on the brand new attraction Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run! The guidemap describes this attraction by saying: Fly the Millennium Falcon on a thrilling interactive smuggling mission. Guests must be 38” or taller in order to ride and the Thrill Level describes the ride as being a thrill ride with small drops that is Dark and Loud. FastPass will eventually be available for this attraction and there is a single rider line. Before we get our marching orders from Hondo, here are five fast facts about Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. 1. Though fans knew a Millennium Falcon attraction was being built for Galaxy’s Edge, it didn’t receive its official name, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, until November 17, 2018 when it was announced at Destination D. 2. After going through some early previews, the ride officially opened to the public at Disneyland on May 31, 2019. 3. The storyline of the attraction puts it immediately after 2017’s The Last Jedi. Chewbacca has brought the Millennium Falcon to Black Spire Outpost to receive some repairs after the events in that film. 4. The animatronic of Hondo that is featured in the preshow area of the attraction is one of the most advanced, next generation A1000 Animatronics ever built. It features 51 total functions, 10 in the head alone! Taking a cue from Ben Franklin and Olaf, this animatronic even appears to take a few steps as if walking! 5. The outcome of the attraction depends on how well you and your crew work as a team and because of that there can be little variations in the film and the on ride dialogue. Another difference depends on when you ride the attraction. If it’s during the day, you take off during the day. Ride the attraction at night, and you take of a night. A great little detail. Well now let’s ride Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. I have three versions of the ride for you. We will skip the queue and go right to the ride for my first ride and review. Then we’ll check out the queue and the preshow for my third ride through the attraction. The first and third rides have different outcomes so listen for those. Finally, I was fortunate enough to get to ride the attractions SOLO! So that audio will bring up the rear. In addition to my reviews, I have a special review with Paul Barrie of the Window To The Magic Podcast at the very end of this episode. And one last thing, if you’l like to hear 50 minutes of me describing my entire, two day, trip to Galaxy’s Edge, it is available as a bonus episode to the Saturday Morning Media Patreon Patron who pledge $5 or more a month. Okay, let’s hit the hyper drive! This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we experience Disneyland’s Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run!
