The next signpost that we find in the gospel of John is the account of the feeding of the 5,000. In this message Stephen unpacks the story and helps us see that Jesus knows our needs, he can do miracles, that nothing is wasted, and that He can do anything we ask!
Focus on the things we do have and not the things we don't have.

Faced with an impossible situation, Jesus once again demonstrates his power and authority over those things that make man's toil in the world laborious. It is a moment reminiscent of one of Israel's greatest leaders and causes those present to wonder if Jesus might be the one they've been waiting for.
A look at John's account of Jesus' feeding of the crowd of 5,000.

The people wanted to crown him king! That may sound good to some, but the people had the wrong kind of kingdom and the wrong kind of king in mind.
John 6:52-66 (NKJV)Our hosts take us back to the prologue of John's gospel to establish a contrast between Jesus's own people who did not receive versus those who did receive no matter who their biological ancestors were. This sets up an even deeper contrast between the Jewish crowd of John 6 and the Samaritan crowd of John 4. Andrew and Edwin compare and contrast these two groups and discover some insightful lessons about being born again of water and Spirit.Read the written devo that goes along with this episode by clicking here. John 6:22-59 (ESV)Our hosts chew on the topic of eating Jesus's flesh and drinking His blood. What was Jesus talking about? Did He support cannibalism? Was He talking about the Lord's Supper? Was it something completely different? Andrew and Edwin remember the misunderstandings that happened earlier in John to help us grasp Jesus's point in this quite unnerving statement.Read the written devo that goes along with this episode by clicking here. John 6:1-15 (ESV)Our hosts continue discussing John's answer to the question, which prophet is Jesus? When the people see the food-multiplying miracle of feeding thousands with five loaves and two fishes, they determine Jesus is indeed The Prophet. Sadly, even with the correct confession, they still don't quite get it.Read the written devo that goes along with this episode by clicking here. In this episode, we explore the most famous miracle of Jesus, the feeding of the 5000. Join us as we dive into the teachings of Jesus and discover how we can better serve those around us.
The hardest times to trust in God are the times we need him most. It's easy to trust God when your job is great, your health is fine, your relationships are strong, your family is well. It's easy to trust God when the sun is shining, but what happens when your life is suddenly overshadowed by dark days? When tragedy or conflict affect us, we may wonder if God continues to care and provide for us. At those times the Christian focuses on certain foundational facts. The Christian was chosen, predestined, and adopted as God's dear child. God has provided the Christian with innumerable spiritual blessings and promises the Christian an eternity of glory, peace, and joy. If we look at those spiritual blessing God provides to us, how could we doubt that he will, at the right time, give us everything we truly need? The Christian trusts God to provide. The Bible reading for this message is Matthew 14:13-21.Video for this worship service can be found here. This is Part 6 in our summer worship series - Define: Christian.Support the showMessages from the King is produced by King of Kings Lutheran Church in Maitland, FL.To find out more about King of Kings... Jesus feeds over 5000 people at once. We chat about what this story meant back then, that it was a way of saying "Jesus is our king, not you!" without really saying it. Merry also talks about her book, The Diplomacy of Migration. We then apply her thesis theologically to the the Biblical story to see how we can apply these lessons today in our lives and in our world.
Boken ska heta Table of Gods, gudarnas bord.
