We're joined with Amanda Teixeira, co-founder of WalletWin, to talk about her time as a full-time missionary and the lessons and fruit that came from years with FOCUS and beyond! Hear how she was at the beginning of both FOCUS Greek and FOCUS Summer Projects! In January 2012, FOCUS missionary Amanda Teixeira, and her husband, Jonathan, had $25,000 in debt and a deep desire to break free. A short — and zealous — seven and half months later they wrote their last check to Sallie Mae and closed the doors on debt forever. Since kicking debt to the curb, they've focused on saving, investing and giving in a way that set them up for total financial peace for a lifetime.Upon hearing their story, a few people asked them money questions — and they answered. That snowballed into hundreds of answers, speaking at events, providing financial coaching, and in 2017, founding WalletWin to provide Catholic financial formation for the whole family. They are authors of How to Attack Debt, Build Savings, and Change the World Through Generosity: A Catholic Guide to Managing Money, hosts of The Catholic Money Show, and creators of The Catholic Money Course, and The Catholic Family Emergency Binder.

For many entrepreneurs, launching your own business means long hours and late nights with little to no financial gain when you first begin. In this episode, Jonathan and Amanda Teixeira join Ben and Deb to share how a forced leap of faith kickstarted their entrepreneurial journey and what it's like to be financially independent while balancing business and family as a married couple. In this episode, you'll also hear: Navigating the challenges of creating a sustainable business Enjoying the flexibility and freedom of entrepreneurship Realities of being married and in business together Must-listen moments: [00:18:14] We didn't know how to get anything sustainable. It was this feast and this famine cycle. And I think a lot of entrepreneurs, particularly online course owners, that's where they begin. And you buy yourself enough time to learn a little bit so that you do better the next time. [00:29:15] We spend about three months out of the year in the RV. If we had a day job, we couldn't do that, but we do spend a decent bit of the time when we're on the road still working because we can…I wanted to be able to have that flexibility and that freedom and entrepreneurship has afforded us that. [00:26:03] We had to figure out how to get the right systems and boundaries and operations in place. And then even for ourselves, how do we talk to each other? Messy Family Podcast : Catholic conversations on marriage and family
“Money touches every aspect of our lives and colors our interactions with others. If we don't get our relationship with money right, our relationships with others hardly stand a chance.” ~ Jonathan and Amanda Teixeira Boy do we have a treat for you! One area in which we have always been hesitant to talk about is family finances. But we figured, when you know what you are not good at, you outsource! This is why we are bringing in Jonathan and Amanda Teixeira, founders of WalletWin, a financial-success program and podcast that help everyday Catholics get intentional with money. In 2012, they were $24,500 in debt, but in less than eight months, they had paid off all their loans and closed the doors on debt forever. Since kicking debt to the curb, they've focused on saving, investing, and giving, and they're now teaching others how to do the same. We have found their advice to be very balanced and helpful to couples who desire to learn how to work together and manage their money in a way that brings peace and stability to their home. Listen into this crucial conversation!

You've probably heard the statistic - nearly half of Americans (48%) who are married or living with their partner say that they argue with that person about MONEY. Most of those money fights are about spending habits, with one person saying that the other spends too much and the other person saying the other is too cheap. Then comes fights about being dishonest with money, how to pay the bills, forgetting the bills (been guilty of that one before) and financial priorities. So what's a Catholic to do with those kinds of odds? It's a loaded answer- but I know part of it is witnessing the joy of a couple who have worked through major financial decisions together and seeing their joy and their peace and their mission to help others have that same experience when it comes to their finances. For only the second time in the nearly five years that I've been hosting this podcast, I'm joined today not only by Amanda Teixeira, but also her husband Jonathan, and guys, it's such a good conversation. I don't think I've ever laughed so much in one episode. We're talking about everything from whether or not we should actually be tithing ten percent to getting on the same page with your spouse about finances and truly dreaming together. If you know all too well those arguments about finances and you just want to know how to get the financial results you want while actually enjoying your life and your marriage, sister, this letter is for you. Topics we talked about in this episode: How Jonathan and Amanda paid of $25,00 in debt in less than eight months and what that taught them about finances The four phases of the WalletWin method and how they can free you from financial stress and say yes to generosity Why God doesn't want just ten percent of your money and how you can give God your all The boundaries you can set up around money so you can build wealth without losing your soul What St. Katherine Drexel teaches us about radical generosity How Jonathan witnesses Amanda's feminine genius in their marriage (and how Amanda sees Jonathan's masculine genius!) Click here to sign up now: http://walletwin.com/catholichomeschool In January 2012, Jonathan and Amanda Teixeira (Text-Sarah) were FOCUS missionaries, had $25,000 in debt, and a deep desire to break free. A short—and zealous—7½ months later they wrote their last check to Sallie Mae and closed the doors on debt forever. Since kicking debt to the curb, they've focused on saving, investing, and giving in a way that set them up for total financial independence for a lifetime. Upon hearing their story, a few people asked them money questions...and they answered them. That snowballed into hundreds of people asking questions, speaking at events, and providing 1:1 financial coaching. They launched WalletWin in 2017 to help as many people as possible get out of debt, build wealth, and transform the world through generosity through their online course, membership, and podcast.
