Viernes 13 Películas y leyendas por Manuel Berrocal El viernes, en el mundo cristiano, ha sido considerado históricamente como un día de luto, pues es aquel día de la semana en que fue crucificado Jesús de Nazareth. Un ejemplo muy claro es la decisión de Tom Sawyer de visitar un cementerio en la noche de un viernes. Otro ejemplo célebre es el viernes 13 de octubre de 1307, cuando, bajo las órdenes de Felipe IV de Francia (Felipe el Hermoso), un grupo de caballeros templarios, fue capturado y llevado ante el tribunal de la Inquisición para ser juzgado y condenado por supuestos crímenes en contra de la cristiandad. No se sabe bien si la decisión del rey francés se debió a una motivación religiosa, debida a los rumores que se tejían en torno a esta orden (de quienes se decía protegían o custodiaban secretos íntimos de la Iglesia, como el Santo Grial), o, más probablemente, a cuestiones económicas. En ese tiempo, los caballeros templarios poseían una gran fortuna, eran los principales prestamistas y acreedores en muchas regiones de Europa, en especial de Francia. Es más, se dice que el propio Felipe IV, tenía una gran deuda con esta orden y que por ello decidió capturarlos y acusarlos ante la Santa Sede por diversos cargos, entre ellos los de herejía, sodomía y de orinar y escupir en la cruz. La acusación produjo la detención o asesinato de la mayoría de los miembros de la orden del Temple, lo que finalmente ocasionó su desaparición. Sin embargo, algunos caballeros lograron escapar, llevándose consigo muchos de los secretos de la orden, hasta hoy no revelados, así como el tesoro del Temple. El último Gran Maestre de la orden, Jacques de Molay, quien finalmente fue condenado a la hoguera, momentos antes de morir asfixiado se dirigió al propio Felipe IV y al papa Clemente V, con estas palabras: «¡Papa Clemente! ¡Caballero Guillermo! ¡Rey Felipe! ¡Antes de un año yo os emplazo para que comparezcáis ante el tribunal de Dios, para recibir vuestro justo castigo! ¡Malditos, malditos! ¡Malditos hasta la decimotercera generación de vuestro linaje!»1 Si bien los templarios fueron arrestados el viernes 13 de octubre de 1307, esta dramática escena tuvo lugar siete años después, el 18 de marzo de 1314; como sea, tanto el papa como el rey murieron en los plazos fijados, a saber el 20 de abril y el 29 de noviembre de ese año. (Esta historia guarda similitud con la de Fernando IV de Castilla “el Emplazado”, a quien también le advirtieron sus víctimas que moriría en un plazo de treinta días.) Los caballeros que sobrevivieron, principalmente en la isla de Chipre y en Portugal, se unieron en su mayoría a las filas de la Orden de los Caballeros Hospitalarios o la de los Caballeros Teutónicos. Un viernes que caiga en el día 13 de cualquier mes se considera un día de mala suerte en la mayoría de las culturas occidentales. Existen supersticiones similares en otras tradiciones; particularmente, en Grecia y en los países hispanohablantes, el martes 13 tiene el mismo papel con severa cola, al igual que el viernes 17 en Italia. Clínicamente, el miedo a los viernes 13 se llama parascevedecatriafobia (la Parasceve es la preparación de la Pascua), collafobia o bien friggaatriscaidecafobia (la palabra Friday, “viernes” en inglés, procede del nombre de la diosa vikinga Frigga), y se trata de una forma de triscaidecafobia, que es la fobia al número 13. “Románico en Rioja” nos lleva desde las ciudades del Camino de Santiago a las poblaciones más remotas, del primer románico al tardío, de la catedral y monasterios a las solitarias ermitas románicas; en una aventura por la historia, el arte y el saber. Románico en Rioja visita así más de 103 lugares, que acompañamos de 557 ilustraciones en color: fotografías, planos y esquemas, que apoyan estas Rutas Románicas en La Rioja. Románico en Rioja sigue la metodología de la descripción, análisis y estudio de los monumentos románicos que han llegado hasta nosotros en La Rioja. La misma línea que seguimos también en nuestros libros, “El Románico en Madrid” del año 2014, y "Rutas Románicas en La Rioja" del año 2000. En este sentido, se adjuntan las plantas de casi todas las arquitecturas románicas descritas en el libro, por ser el hilo conductor para su descripción y estudio. Algunos como los planos de los monasterios de Valvanera o Herrera, fueron sus primeros planos publicados, igual que los de algunas iglesias, que además fueron posteriormente replicados por otras publicaciones.Uno de mis objetivos ha sido la búsqueda de la armonía y belleza en la arquitectura, escultura y pintura románica. Las técnicas y métodos para la elaboración y estudio de la armonía y belleza románica fue el núcleo conductor de la asignatura que durante muchos años he impartido en un Master en la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, y esos criterios los aplicamos también aquí.Románico en Rioja desea tratar la totalidad de los monumentos románicos existentes actualmente en La Rioja, para lo que hemos realizado un recorrido del territorio, comenzando por el Camino de Santiago, como médula espinal y eje creativo del Románico en Rioja; continuando de Oeste a Este: a lo largo de los montes Obarenes, el río Tirón, la cuenca del río Oja, los territorios de Sonsierra y Valpierre, para continuar por el valle del río Najerilla, por los montes de Cameros, finalizando en los valles de los ríos Cidacos y Alhama. Lo anterior juntamente con el Marco histórico y artístico constituye el Índice de contenidos de Románico en Rioja.No podemos pasar por alto otra de las riquezas de Románico en Rioja, sus numerosos grupos de escultura románica “Virgen con Niño”, son bellas tallas románicas de gran calidad realizadas durante el período románico y el primer siglo del gótico, expuestas también en el libro.El Camino de Santiago en Rioja, aunque corto, fue la cocina donde se trazó el Camino Francés en España, cuando los maestros San Gregorio de Ostia, Santo Domingo de la Calzada y San Juan de Ortega construyeron el Camino desde Estella a Santiago de Compostela cruzando por las nuevas capitales: Logroño, Nájera, Burgos, Sahagún, León y Astorga, aprovechando viejos tramos de la calzada romana que recorría la Tarraconense, y abriendo otros tramos nuevos para cruzar las montañas.El maestro Garsión trazó la catedral de Santo Domingo de la Calzada, obra maestra en España del románico que en esa época triunfaba en Languedoc (Francia), y posteriormente replicada en importantes monasterios románicos en Castilla, así como en varias iglesias románicas rurales en la Rioja Alta, hasta en Santa María de Palacio en Logroño.El monasterio de Suso en San Millán de la Cogolla, además de una cabecera visigótica y dos naves mozárabes, conserva dos naves del primer románico levantado durante el reinado de Sancho el Mayor, siendo una de las arquitecturas románicas más antiguas en España. Desde entonces, el estilo románico colonizó La Rioja hasta finales de la Edad Media, levantando iglesias, monasterios y castillos.Todavía están vivas en Rioja dos de las antiguas Divisas: Valdeosera y la Piscina Probática de Jerusalén, ésta relacionada con la Primera Cruzada. Corsarios españoles por Agustín Rodríguez Ponente: Agustín Rodríguez Tal es el grado de desconocimiento de nuestra historia naval que el simple título de este trabajo parecerá a muchos una contradicción, porque el sustantivo ‘corsario’ no puede ir acompañado del gentilicio ‘español’. A consolidar esta percepción, ha contribuido la imagen acuñada por la literatura y el cine. Al contrario, como esperamos demostrar en estas páginas, en España hubo numerosos corsarios y de gran éxito. Conviene aclarar que un corsario era algo muy diferente de un pirata. El corsario se trataba de un particular que, por las razones que fuesen, había obtenido una «patente» o permiso del rey para atacar y apresar embarcaciones de países enemigos, tras haber depositado previamente una fianza, y comprometiéndose a cumplir una serie de normas tanto en lo que se refiere a quién podría atacar, al comportamiento con los vencidos, al reparto del botín apresado, etc. ¿Eran los españoles o los súbditos de la monarquía hispana poco proclives a dedicarse al corso? Resulta sorprendente que gentes tan dadas y tan hábiles para la guerra irregular en tierra, la famosa guerrilla, apenas se la planteen cuando la lucha es por mar. Tal vez sea la explicación el tópico de que los españoles han sido torpes y limitados marinos. Pero entonces habría que explicar cómo es posible que fueran, esos mismos españoles, los creadores del mayor imperio oceánico de la historia y quienes lo mantuvieron en su poder durante cuatro siglos, que fueran ellos los que descubrieron todo un nuevo continente y los primeros que circunnavegaron el planeta, aparte de otras muchas hazañas.
