Kelly is a little stressed as she is headed to Dallas for a three day shoot for two reasons. First, she will be without Lizz who is moving out of her house during that time. But the bigger issue is that Kelly is feeling like she is in her ugly era. Is it that time of the month or are they just getting old? Considering both ladies were recently mistaken for teenagers it may be the former instead of the latter. Speaking of getting older, Kelly is starting to think about what kind of car to get George when he gets old enough. Yes, he is only six now, but sixteen will be here before they know it. Unsurprisingly, she's thinking it will be a used car. But what kind? Oh, and for those wondering, George's 6th birthday party was amazing all thanks to the reptile man! In Industry News, the Dodge Durango is coming back. Will there be enough changes made to make it a safer car? Plus, the Bronco vs the Wrangler and Tesla stock is making a slight comeback. Finally in Ditch the Drive-Thru, Kelly has an Aldi hack to make your favorite Chick-fil-a meal. But what she REALLY wants to talk about is "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives."
Jon Summers is the Motoring Historian. He was a company car thrashing technology sales rep that turned into a fairly inept sports bike rider. On his show he gets together with various co-hosts to talk about new and old cars, driving, motorbikes, motor racing, motoring travel. In this episode, Jon reviews three vehicles, he discusses the Fiat 500e, highlighting its small size, aggressive regenerative braking, and plasticky interior, questioning its value considering depreciation. Next, he delves into the Dodge Durango Hellcat, lauding its 707 horsepower engine but critiquing its high price and overall build quality compared to competitors like Lexus and Genesis. Finally, he briefly evaluates the Acura ZDX, noting its competent performance but ultimately finding it unmemorable. Throughout, Jon shares anecdotes about technology glitches and driving experiences. ==================== Accept - Restless and Wild Fiat 500E - Perfectly adequate car. Chevrolet has just released the jaw-dropping figures for its 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, which boasts an astonishing 1,064 horsepower, and that's just the beginning of an episode that should warm the heart of every musclecar fan. On top of the Corvette news, Stellantis has announced that it will continue to build and market HEMI V8-powered Dodge Durangos, and by some weird twist of fate, Host Jack Nerad just drove a Durango and he will share his recent Chicago area road test experience in the 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. The survival of the Durango is good news for enthusiasts, because it's a powerhouse that continues to dominate the performance three-row SUV segment. With its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine producing a staggering 710 horsepower, the Durango SRT Hellcat offers explosive performance that gets drivers from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. This robust SUV combines thrilling acceleration with practicality, having the ability to tow up to 8,700 pounds and comfortably seat up to six passengers. Also featured in our road test segment this week Co-Host Chris Teague evaluates the 2025 Acura MDX, a luxury SUV that enhances both comfort and capability. With a refined interior that prioritizes quality and space, the MDX provides seating for up to seven and is loaded with tech features, including a large touchscreen interface for its infotainment system. Under the hood, the MDX offers the choice of two dynamic V6 engines that can deliver engaging driving experiences while maintaining reasonable fuel efficiency. Its all-wheel-drive system instills on-road confidence, but can it stand up to the cruelties of a Maine winter? We'll have Teague's practiced opinion on the matter. In the news this week, Stellantis is making headlines with the installation of former Dodge executive Tim Kuniskis as head of the brand and important updates to its forthcoming product plans. The battery-electric Ram pickup has been delayed while Ram pushes the Ramcharger forward, relying on its interesting range-extender tech to gain much-needed traction in the full-size pickup segment. On a more mainstream tack, we'll also review the pluses and minuses of the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid, a finalist for the North American Car of the Year award, which will be announced next month. Meanwhile, Nissan has made some changes to the battery-electric Ariya that make it more appealing than ever. This week, our special guest is Maggie Clark, a Toyota product specialist, who shares insights on new Toyota models like the 2025 Crown Signia and Land Cruiser. Five men, identified as living unlawfully in the United States, have been apprehended and are now facing charges related to the alleged abduction of a young teen girl, as per statements from local law enforcement. These individuals were apprehended during the early hours of Monday in northeast Missouri following a report that a 14-year-old girl from Indiana had gone missing from her residence. The individuals — evidently hailing from Mexico and Honduras — are all currently residing within the U.S. in violation of immigration laws. They were taken into custody and subsequently charged with kidnapping and actions endangering child safety. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was alerted that the girl's smartphone had been detected moving westward along U.S. highway 36, leading to the successful identification and interception of an SUV, which fit the earlier specified description of their suspected mode of travel. The five men involved in the case are Marlon Aguilar, aged 44, from Honduras, Arturo Eustaquio, aged 41, of Mexican nationality, Carlos Funez, aged 56, from Honduras, Noe Guzman Hernandez, a 24-year-old Mexican national, and Daniel Ruiz Lopez, a 19-year-old individual from Honduras. As per documents filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and subsequently examined by the Daily Caller News Foundation, it has been determined that all five are considered to be potential flight risks due to their illegal residence status in the U.S. Following the detention, these individuals were transferred to the Macon County Jail. The girl involved is described in the court documents as a juvenile who had run away from home. Her father, alarmed after witnessing her getting into a black Dodge Durango, quickly contacted his local police department in Indiana. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Katherine Aguasvivas is on a road trip, from her home in Homestead Florida, which is south of Miami, to central Florida to visit friends. After going through Orlando, Aguasvivas calls her husband Miguel in a panic. She tells him that she is in Winter Springs, and there is a green Acura running into her back bumper. He tells her not to stop, and keep driving, but neither of them calls 911. At 5:30 p.m., Aguasvivas stops for a traffic light at the intersection. What goes down next is caught on camera by a witness. A man dressed in all black gets out of the Acura approaches the driver's side of Aguasvivas' Dodge Durango and threatens her with a gun. He forces his way inside, climbing into the back seat, and forcing Katherine Aguasvivas to drive. The eyewitness calls 911. On their drive back, Aviles, Ferguson, and their girls draw the attention of local police. They are sitting in a parking lot with the front passenger door open on their Dodge Durango. A Trumann, Arkansas police officer asks how they are doing. Katie Ferguson tells the officer they are a bit tired but fine. Four days later, the Dodge Durango, with Adam Aviles Jr. behind the wheel, is captured by a Texas DPS patrol camera. Two things are noticeably different from the police encounter in Arkansas. Kelly and Lizz are dishing advice on some spicy drama in this jam packed episode! Kelly is devoting her focus to evening routine prep and a much more pregnant Lizz is getting ready to welcome Mattie back home soon. Today's millennial word of the day is a quick fire quiz of popular Gen Z abbreviations: tbh, smh, pov, fr, rt, rn, tfw, and imo. Kelly has a throwback-filled driveway dump since no one voted it off segment island (just kidding none of the Carpool segments are going anywhere). First, Kelly and Lizz share highlights of their childhood Easter. Then, the gals reminisce about mall stores and brands they used to love and where they are now. Reel talk with Lizz brings healthy home inspiration with a DIY all-purpose cleaner recipe and a few low-lift wellness tips. The gals agree that ice water facials are going to be the way to go — because you won't catch either of them plunging in for a cold swim. Every day is a gift worth more than $10M and Lizz has a bit of a ‘would you rather' to prove it. Lizz is getting ready for a John Mayer concert with tan converse to kick off the last three transactions segment. She also bought Jordan Harper's Barefaced tinted and sheer sunscreen and a bird feeder. Kelly re-upped her Apple TV subscription, ordered play makeup for Hattie, and took a risk on a denim jumpsuit. Are Kelly and Lizz even qualified to respond on today's listener advice segment? Someone's very best friend of 20 years is cheating on her husband. What should she do with her friend's secret? Can they remain friends? The gals weigh in. Another listener asks if her Volkswagen Jetta sedan can be good mom car with kids as she starts to grow her family. Want our advice on literally anything? Shoot us an email for a chance to get your questions featured on the show at hello@thecarmomofficial.com The Mississippi government has recently put restrictions on selling EVs, which is great industry news. Of course Kelly and Lizz are on team local, family-owned dealerships and are glad to see them protected and appreciated with these new restrictions. Mercedes-Benz biometric payments are on their way — is this a good thing or another scary subscription slippery slope? And the Dodge Durango 710 Hellcat is coming back. The attorneys for convicted double murderer Alex Murdaugh have filed a notice of appeal of his conviction in the high-profile case. The paperwork was submitted with the South Carolina Court of Appeals late Thursday afternoon, nearly a week after he was found guilty on two counts of murder and two weapons charges. Under state law, people have 30 days to file their full appeal of a conviction but his attorneys had said last week they would file this notice first. The document does not give details of why they want an appeal, but by filing this, they now have more time to make that more detailed argument. However, last week Murdaugh's attorneys said the appeal would include their concerns about how law enforcement's actions in the case and Judge Clifton Newman's decision to allow evidence about Murdaugh's financial crimes. Last Thursday, a jury convicted Murdaugh, 54, of killing his wife Maggie and adult son Paul on June 7, 2021 at the family's large estate in Colleton County following a six-week trial. It took the 12 men and women just three hours to render their decision. A day later, Judge Newman sentenced Murduagh to two consecutive life sentences for his crime. He was then taken to the Kirkland Correctional Institution in Columbia to begin serving his time and undergo a 45 evaluation. Ike Reighard, senior pastor of Piedmont Church and CEO of MUST Ministries, was named the Marietta Citizen of the Year Thursday by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. Reighard was surprised with the honor at the chamber's Marietta council luncheon following Mayor Steve “Thunder” Tumlin's State of the City address. As Tumlin announced Reighard as the Citizen of the Year, the pastor shook his head in disbelief. Tumlin cited the famous New Testament verse, Matthew 25:35 — “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,” — to describe Reighard's service to the community. Reighard joined MUST Ministries in 2011. The organization provides assistance to families and individuals in need, from food drives and fundraisers to the Hope House Emergency Shelter, which sleeps 136 residents. After receiving a standing ovation, Reighard made his way to the front of the room and accepted the award from Tumlin and Andy Gaines, the 2022 Marietta Area Council director. Two former Amazon employees who worked at an Amazon warehouse in Smyrna pleaded guilty after being accused of stealing nearly $10 million from the company, federal prosecutors announced Thursday. The defendants stole the funds while employed at the company in managerial and loss prevention roles, prosecutors said, and spent it on real estate, sports cars and jewelry. Ryan K. Buchanan, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, said that Kayricka Wortham of Atlanta and Demetrius Hines of Smyrna used their positions at the e-commerce and tech giant to submit more than $10 million in fictitious invoices for fake vendors, leading the company to pay approximately $9.4 million to Wortham, Hines and co-conspirators. As part of their sentencing, Wortham and Hines will forfeit cash and assets purchased with the stolen funds, prosecutors said. For Wortham, that includes more than $2.7 million, a Smyrna residence (purchased for more than $900,000), a 2019 Lamborghini Urus, a 2021 Dodge Durango, a 2022 Tesla Model X, a 2018 Porsche Panamera and a Kawasaki ZX636 motorcycle. Hines will forfeit more than $600,000, along with a 2022 Suzuki GSX1300 Motorcycle, a 2013 Ford Shelby Mustang, a 2021 Ford F-150 Black Widow, a Rolex Day-Date watch, a diamond bracelet and a diamond necklace. Wortham, 31, also known as Kayricka Dupree or Kayricka Young, was the leader of the scheme and worked as an operations manager at Amazon from August 2020 to March 2022 at the Smyrna warehouse, according to prosecutors. A Marietta man was sentenced to life in prison for aggravated sodomy, the Cobb County District Attorney's office announced Wednesday. Travis Leonard Hudson, 50, was sentenced by Cobb Superior Court Judge Mary Staley Clark Monday after he was found guilty by a jury on November 18, according to a news release from the DA's office. Prosecutors said Hudson's trial began Nov. 14, and that he was tried for sexually assaulting a female acquaintance on the night of March 12, 2021. The woman was reportedly visiting Hudson at his apartment and woke up to him assaulting her. Following an investigation by the Cobb County Police Department's Crimes Against Persons Unit, Hudson was arrested in June of last year. During the trial, Assistant District Attorney Sarah Hilleren presented the testimony of law enforcement, the victim, medical professionals and other evidence, the release said. An Acworth woman and alleged gang member previously convicted for her involvement in the murder of a 17-year-old in Bartow County has been sentenced to more than a decade in federal prison, federal prosecutors announced Wednesday. Jennifer Foutz, 30, received 12 years in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, after she pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting murder in aid of racketeering, and aiding and abetting the use of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia said. Gary Terrell Davis was sentenced this week for his role in the murder, the last of eight alleged members or associates of northwest Georgia's 135 Pirus gang accused in the murder. The lead defendant in the case, Maurice Antonio Kent, 32, of Cartersville, was found guilty of four felonies in May. On Aug. 24, Kent was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison to be followed by three years of supervised release. Others convicted in the case included Christopher Nwanjoku, 30, of Lawrenceville, Jamel Dupree Hughes, 27, of Atlanta, Cedric Sams, 29, of Cartersville, Michael Kent, 32, of Atlanta and DaSean Dorey, 29, of Decatur. Foutz, also known as “Rose,” had previously been arrested in connection to an unrelated shooting at an Acworth gas station in June 2017. Authorities said at the time she and Hughes encountered a member of another gang at the gas station. Hughes allegedly shot the member of the other gang multiple times before undercover police at the gas station working an unrelated case saw the shooting, and proceeded to pursue Foutz and Hughes, who attempted to flee in their car. For the Marietta flag football team, it follows a simple premise. If the other team doesn't score, it can't win. That was the case again Thursday night when the Blue Devils defeated North Gwinnett 13-0 in the quarterfinals of the Class 7A state playoffs. With the win, Marietta moves on to play Blessed Trinity in a rematch of last year's state semifinals, a game the Blue Devils won 26-0. For the Blue Devils, it was their eighth shutout of the season and third straight to open the playoffs. The defense was so dominant it allowed only two first downs over the first 39 minutes of the 40 minute game, and only two plays of more than five yards during that stretch. With 3:53 left to play, North Gwinnett had one last chance to try to work its way downfield to try and tie the game, instead it went backwards. A run on first down lost three yards, a botched pitch on a reverse lost seven yards and two incomplete passes gave the ball back to Marietta at the Bulldogs' 5-yard line. It took only one play for Hennessey to find Gabi O'Neill with a short touchdown pass to put the game away. Monday's semifinal matchup will be played at the Atlanta Falcons training facility in Flowery Branch. It is the first time the final four will be played there. The Marietta Police Department and its retiree association honored women who have worked on the force in a ceremony at City Hall on Thursday. Jack Shields, a retired sergeant who worked for the MPD for 33 years and now organizes the department's retiree club, had the idea for the ceremony when he heard Susan Fuder would be in town for the regular MPD retiree lunch. Fuder, now in her 70s, became Marietta's first woman police officer in 1972. She was an officer for 10 years, during which she worked on patrol and in crime prevention. Shields said he figured it would be a good opportunity to recognize all women police officers. He and Marietta Chief Marty Ferrell presented Fuder with a plaque for her service. Fuder said when she applied to be an officer, the police chief at the time asked if she was sure she didn't want to be a secretary. She was sure — and had wanted to be a police officer since childhood. When Fuder became an officer she said her first uniform was a skirt, despite her request for pants. That changed after she had to retrieve a stolen bicycle tossed in some brambles. Frank Fuder, her husband who coached football at Osborne and Campbell high schools, said at the time he was concerned about her safety, but knew she would do a first rate job. #CobbCounty #Georgia #LocalNews - - - - - The Marietta Daily Journal Podcast is local news for Marietta, Kennesaw, Smyrna, and all of Cobb County. Welcome back to HWIDG, where this week we attempt the show under the craziest conditions yet! We've got flaming hoops, trampolines, canons, and explosions galore! Will you be able to hear us? We don't care! Bring your grandmother, bring your kids, bring your dog, bring the lady you're cheating with, we don't care, just bring them and we'll dazzle them with pyrotechnics, a dancing bear, a dying man's last words, and a monster truck jumping over thirteen busses! If you order the special VIP package we'll even throw in these exclusive issues:- The Four Corners- Owning Material Goods- Talk Backs- Highway DrivingWhen a powerful artifact is deemed too powerful, it is split into many and spread throughout the world, or galaxy even, to prevent it from being reformed and wreaking havoc once again. Yet I can't find my limited edition John Cena 2007 Summerslam shirt with the hole in the armpit and the worn-out neck and we only moved across town. I KNOW YOU THREW IT OUT LINDA, DON'T LIE TO ME!Collecting things is all nice and dandy until you have to move them. Or pay out the ass for hopefully competent movers to do it for you. Paring down your collection can hurt, but you'll thank me when you're back aches a lot less after moving cross-country. Or don't listen to me and move into comically larger and larger dwellings until you're renting out Mars as storage space.Feedback can be an important part of the creative process. Taking constructive criticism, and your work being seen with a new eye or different point of view can help you see things you may have overlooked or forgotten. Talk Backs are not this. They are free blowies for actors do inflate their already over-inflated egos. The people who are told what to say and how to say it, which is often the same from production to production, yeah, those are the real heroes. They say life is a highway. If that's true, I guess it's because there's always someone in your way and you constantly have to dodge the detritus of others, lest you get run off the road. Are you stuck in your life? It must be because there's a Wal-Mart delivery truck with a shorn roof because he can't read height warning signs to the right of you and an old lady in a Dodge Durango in front of you who is trying to have a conversation with the trucker so she's matching speed with him and you would very much like to shoot them both. All this and more on this week's episode! It was a cold Michigan night on March 12th, 2004 when 39-year-old Mary Denise Lands vanished without a trace in Marshall, Michigan. Allegedly she got into an argument with her boyfriend Chris Pratt that evening and leaving her cell phone and keys to her Dodge Durango behind, she walked into the frigid night. She was never seen again. Watch GTP on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKdeO4IodggpSLyhWVdcWKw Episode Details: The Stone Law Group's trial team -- comprised of father Bill Stone and sons James Stone and Ryals Stone -- explain how they thoroughly investigated a fatal car accident and proved that their client, a promising 19-year-old University of Mississippi student, was not the proximate cause of his own tragic death, as law enforcement investigators initially concluded. In the early morning hours of March 29, 2013, University of Mississippi freshman Price Thornal was attempting to travel from Oxford, Mississippi to his hometown in Tallahassee, Florida to celebrate his father's birthday. Price's Honda Civic was hit head-on by the defendant, who was driving a Dodge Durango on the wrong side of the divided US Hwy 84. Trial lawyers Bill, James and Ryals Stone used the GPS system in Price's car to plot his trajectory and utilized the defendant's cell phone records as evidence of her negligence and opposing trajectory. In spite of the defendant's attempts to cast blame on Price, the Stone Law Group used basic physics as well as expert accident reconstruction to show the jury which car was traveling in the appropriate direction. In November 2021, after just 20 minutes of deliberation, an Early County, Georgia jury found the defendant's negligence to be the proximate cause of Price's death and awarded $26,141,628 in damages. In this episode, Doug and Carl talk to Joel Larsgaard from the How To Money Podcast. Here are a few highlights of our discussion: Frugal versus cheap! Joel discusses a time when he went cheap and it didn't garner him any fans How Joel's childhood (including a car repossession) shaped his money habits Real estate investing (6 rentals with more on the way!) Investing in stocks Working for money legend Clark Howard How To Money Joel's perfect day Links Rich living on less money - How to Money The Clark Howard Show: Podcasts Archives Meet Joel Larsgaard Joel Larsgaard is a guy who's living out his dream life and wants to help you live yours, too. He has been in the personal finance and media space for many years. Before starting his own podcast, he worked with Clark Howard on his syndicated radio show, The Clark Howard Show. Although Clark is now retired from radio, he still puts out a successful podcast, which talks about all things money-related and to empower consumers. And since parting ways with Clark, Joel now runs his own podcast, How to Money, with his best friend, Matt. Joel and Matt love helping people take control of their finances and, of course, getting to work with each other. Working on the podcast with a half-mile commute each day to his best friend's house (which he does on bike, of course), is a dream come true for him and gives him the freedom to enjoy life and spend time with his wife and kids. Our Discussion We started out discussing the fine line between frugal and cheap. Joel told us a story about a time when he purchased some ceiling fans just because they were inexpensive. They were the wrong size and poor quality, and left Joel frustrated that he would spend more time and money in the long run - eventually having to replace them with ones that actually did the job. Frugal doesn't always mean spending less money on things! We then delved into Joel's backstory with money. Like Carl, Joel grew up with parents who were not great with money. They spent money they believed they'd have as soon as Joel's dad was promoted. But that promotion never came through, and Joel watched as his parents struggled to afford the things they needed and wanted in life. A particularly vivid memory for him is watching a new Dodge Durango that his parents had purchased get taken away by "the repo man." Joel vowed that he would never let himself struggle with money, and became radically frugal in response. Now, he thinks about money as not just something that has to be scrimped and saved but as a powerful tool that can help you bring your dreams into reality. Joel talked to us about how his own siblings think about money, and how he is working to teach his children now about finances. His philosophy is that just because he has money doesn't mean he's spending it on whatever the kids want. He is instilling in them the importance of working hard for the things you want and the power of saving towards bigger purchases. We then picked Joel's brain about real estate investing. Joel owns six rental properties right now - all in his home town of Atlanta. He intentionally invests only in properties near where he lives because he knows the area so well and feels confident about the direction of certain neighborhoods. He only buys properties he would live in himself, and has found that being a landlord isn't nearly the headache it's cracked up to be if you do it wisely. He expects to own about 12 properties one day and then call it quits. This led us to the discussion of knowing when enough is enough. Goalposts are always moving in life. But we all agreed that it's valuable to have a small handful of things in life that you would always be happy to spend more money on, and to be content with simplicity in everything else. Joel, for example, owns only one car for his family. And that's more than enough for them.Even if you gave Joel a giant pile of money, he wouldn't buy another car or upgrade the one they have. He's happy with simplicity when it comes to his cars. But he's always happy to spend a bit more when it comes to things that really make him happy: craft beer, vacations, and folk art. Finally, Joel told us a little bit about his work with the famous Clark Howard (turns out he's as nice as he seems on the radio), and his own podcast How to Money. Joel learned a lot in the first 30-50 episodes and talked about how he and Matt found their voice. We are so grateful Joel shared his insights with us and we hope you'll enjoy listening to our conversation!
