Be careful what you wish for… Ahhh, who amongst us hasn't fallen prey to this old adage? I myself once dreamed of a world where I would have free access to endless Taco Bell and Mountain Dew Livewire - alas, I had to endure an apocalypse in order to get those wishes. Ah well, it was worth it. But, sadly, the same can't be said for my good buddy, Ryan. The fool wished on a Zoltar machine at the local Bartertown carnival and now he's got to deal with an abnormally shrunken head, instead of an abnormally large one. Thankfully, we just so happen to have an answer to Ryan's problem in the video store. And it just so happens to come courtesy of our old pal, Penny Marshall, and America's Sweetheart, Tom Hanks. I'm your host and former thirteen year old, Dave, and joining me as we thirst over Elizabeth Perkins in a Jets jersey are fellow cinephiles Mike, Jackie, and former Big Head, Ryan. Topics of discussion in this episode include the questionable hiring practices at Macmillan Toys; we wonder if Big is just Anne Spielberg writing about her man-child brother, Stevie; and finally, we discuss the fallout of what happened after Susan realized that she had sex with a thirteen year old Manic Pixie Dream Boy / Man. Be sure to rate, review and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. You can also Follow Us on Twitter, Like Us on Facebook, or shoot us an email at apocalypsevideopod@gmail.com That'll do it for this week's episode, folks. And remember, don't go wishing on a Zoltar machine unless your city has one hell of a Consumer Affairs department.

Send us a textKatie and Bridget each get big and do their secret handshake song as they re-watch the 80's classic: Big! It's a movie all about how if you're a 12 year old white boy who suddenly becomes Big and moves into the city with literally no money - you will eventually "fall up" and get promoted to VP of a toy company - just cause! Duh! Come along as we meet Josh, the 12 year old going on 30 year old who goes into the city while he tries to reverse his Zoltar-infused growth spurt. With the help of his best friend Billy, the ultimate ride-or-die bff, he gets on his feet and gets a job at a toy company - where he again, falls up. This movie asks the tough questions like: why are corporate meetings so stupid? How come we don't all have indoor trampolines in our homes? Where can we play on a life size piano in a public toy store to get a crazy raise!? All these and more in this coming of age comedy with lots of heart as well as some predatory behavior! Released in 1988, it stars Tom Hanks, Elizabeth Perkins, John Heard, Robert Loggia, and Jared Rushton.

On our latest weekly roundup, we have questions about when to notice someone else's hairstyle, and what to do when someone notices yours. What we're watching: On Only Murders in the Building, "Ah, Love!" upended two relationships and (maybe) kicked off a third, while (maybe) exonerating one suspect and lining the next one up. On The Afterparty, "Isabel" finally allowed Elizabeth Perkins to have some fun, and cast some serious shade on murder victim Edgar.Catherine's library find this week is another questionable nonfiction series for kids: Scary Places, with titles like Creepy Castles, Eerie Parks and Playgrounds, Abandoned Insane Asylums, and many, many more.In the archives, we revisit chats on reality-show challenges for parents (September 6, 2021), making our kids' lives easier (September 5, 2019), and sibling jealousy (September 8, 2017). We'll be back with a new episode next Tuesday. Our TV watch will cover S2 E10 of The Afterparty ("Zoe and Vivian," the season finale) and S3 E6 of Only Murders in the Building (“Ghost Light”). If you miss hearing from us every single day, the archives await you! This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3680863/advertisement

In this episode, my guest is comedian and actor Paul Reiser. We discuss his upcoming shows at Cobb's Comedy Club, his tour called the "Big Font Comedy Tour," and how he's glad to be doing stand-up again. We also talked about Paul's various roles in TV and books, including his recent appearance on Stranger Things as Dr. Sam Owens. In this episode:Stand-up comedy and live performancesThe journey of becoming a comedianFinding your comedic voiceMaking your spouse laughOpening for Buddy RichAs a seasoned actor, writer, producer, and stand-up comedian, Paul Reiser continues to add to his list of accomplishments. In addition to co-creating and starring in the critically-acclaimed NBC series Mad About You (1992), which garnered him Emmy, Golden Globe, American Comedy Award, and Screen Actors Guild nominations for Best Actor in a Comedy Series, his successes also include his book, "Couplehood," which sold over two million copies and reached the number one spot on "The New York Times" best-seller list, and "Babyhood," his follow-up book, which features his trademark humorous take on the adventures of being a first-time father, which also made "The New York Times" best-seller list. He also wrote a follow-up bestseller, Familyhood.Born and raised in New York City, Reiser was drawn to Greenwich Village clubs, which featured, among others, George Carlin, Robert Klein, and David Steinberg. He subsequently attended college at the State University of New York at Binghamton, where he majored in music (piano and composition) and participated in drama classes. During his university years, he was active in student theater productions at the Hinman Little Theater, an on-campus community theater organization located in Hinman College, his dorm community. Reiser later began performing as a comedian at the Improv and Comic Strip during university summer breaks.Remembered for notable performances in films such as Diner (1982), Aliens (1986), Beverly Hills Cop (1984) and Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), The Marrying Man (1991), Bye Bye Love (1995) and One Night at McCool's (2001). More recently, he starred in two original movies for Showtime - Strange Relations (2001) opposite Julie Walters, Chazz Palminteri's Women vs. Men (2002), opposite Joe Mantegna and Christine Lahti. His first original screenplay also became his next film, The Thing About My Folks (2005), also starring Peter Falk, Olympia Dukakis, and Elizabeth Perkins.Reiser's development company, "Nuance Productions," has produced several projects for NBC television, including, My 11:30 (2004), starring Jeff Goldblum and Donna Murphy - which Reiser co-wrote with Steven Sater. Also in the works - for the Showtime cable network - is a mock documentary about "The Smothers Brothers" and their battles with television network censorship in the late 1960s. Since then, he has maintained a lower profile, working more as an executive producer and writer than as an actor. He also paired with Steven Soderbergh to star in the Amazon Original Series Red Oaks.Reiser tours the country performing in sold-out venues and was recently voted one of Comedy Central's "Top 100 Comedians of All Time."www.GaryScottThomas.com

Have you ever caught yourself racing through one part of your day in order to get to a supposedly better part? I did that only hours ago, eating a salad. Why was I in such a hurry? Was a mastodon going to sneak up from behind and snatch it away? I mean, really.
