Ryan Cabrera is an American musician. He began his career as a lead singer for the Dallas band Rubix Groove before pursuing his solo career. Following the 2001 release of independent album Elm St., he released his first major-label album, Take It All Away, on August 17, 2004. Earlier in the year, Cabrera had become known for his up-tempo pop-rock single "On the Way Down". It was then followed by Cabrera's second single, "True"; and his third single "40 Kinds of Sadness". He's still performing to this day and you'll hear all about that in this interview. I saw him on MTV a lot back in the day so I was super interested to know how the punk scene influenced him and what his lifestyle has been like since he broke out. I got him on the Skype and this is what we chat about What bands got him into punk music Connecting with Joe Simpson How he would sell himself at meetings with record labels The Ashley Simpson show Butting heads with John Rzeznik during their recording session His TV show Score Getting Punk'd Perez Hilton giving him a lot of shit Changing his sound Being on TRL The Lindsey Lohan story And a ton more Check him out on the Pop2000 Tour and listen to his latest single PRESCRIPTION OF YOU on Manic Kat Records. The guys go over the draft history of teams that are currently still left in the playoffs. They go over who made the best decisions, including players the Steelers could have gotten in the draft or in free agency. Darryl in Houston compares Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph to two NFL journeymen. Is he right?

Big Fat Five: A Podcast Financially Supported by Big Fat Snare Drum
This week's guest is Josh Grigsby - a drummer I've looked up to and apparently ripped off for a quite some time. He was/is the drummer for Houston Calls (a now-defunct pop punk band from New Jersey who actually just announced a batch of reunion shows in June), but he's also the current drummer for Mae and Just Surrender. I hope you enjoy this chat with Josh Grigsby about the 5 records that shaped him into the player he is today. Cheers! Episode 105 really packs a punch this week! Not only do we give you the news, but we also bring on one of our favorite guests, Tom Keiger of Houston Calls to spill the beans on the band's recent reunion announcement. We made sure to ask EVERYTHING you could possibly want to know about. As for news, we say goodbye to Panic! at the Disco, we talk about how Machine Gun Kelly's recent movie has shit the bed, we share the story of a Marilyn Manson fan causing $10M worth of damage, then we ask if an Oasis reunion is bound to happen, and close it out with a band being sued by cereal...Support the showSign-up for our weekly newsletter!http://allpunkedup.com/subscribe Are you a fan of the scene and want to be a guest on the pod? This week, John and Tyler debate over whether or not it's ok to wear a band's t-shirt when going to one of their concerts. Going in, they knew they lived on different sides of the aisle when it comes to this topic, so trying to convince each other was not easy. But before that, they take the time to review some new tunes released this week, as well as discuss some old Drive-Thru Records bands doing some teasing that they need to fill you in on.Support the showSign-up for our weekly newsletter!http://allpunkedup.com/subscribe Are you a fan of the scene and want to be a guest on the pod? This week sees an old episode revisited. After Tyler's Internet was out this week and it prevented him and Bailey from recording a new episode, they thought that after a reference to a past episode was brought up by our prior episode's guest, Tom Keiger of Houston Calls, they thought it would be a good idea to just go ahead and re-release that one for anyone else who might be interested. Tom brought up the earlier episode where Bailey interviewed Tyler and his old bandmates about the time they headed out to L.A. to meet with Drive-Thru Records. The gist of the story is: Tyler's old band Yeti 242 thought they were going out to L.A. to get signed to Drive-Thru Records, but the events that took place on that trip really wound up outweighing what would be a big gut punch at the end of the trip. This is a condensed version of the original episode. So if you want more of the backstory of how Tyler's old band formed, feel free to head back and listen to the original episode (number 22). But to recap, Bailey interviews my Tyler's bandmates Alex Haycraft who was the guitar player, John Pearman who was the bass player and Tyler himself who was the guitar player and lead vocalist.Sign-up for our weekly newsletter!http://allpunkedup.com/subscribeThe All Punked Up Podcast is for those of you who love the pop punk, rock and alternative music genres and culture. Nothing like getting to sit down with one of your favorite pop punk heroes. This week, Bailey and Tyler were lucky enough to be joined by Tom Keiger, lead singer of the early 2000s New Jersey pop punk band Houston Calls. In 2003, Houston Calls signed to Rushmore Records, the sister label of the iconic Drive-Thru Records. Following the band's signing, they released their debut album A Collection of Short Stories which would wind up becoming an album staple for many now 30-something-year-old pop punk fans. The three of them dive into the early beginnings of Houston Calls, the making of the band's debut album, the s-s-s-story behind "Bob and Bonnie", what it was like to be on one of the most influential record labels the scene has ever had, how and why the band broke up, and where the band and Tom are today. Will there be a reunion? You know Tyler asked this one. To find out, hit that play button and let's re-live some nostalgia together.Sign-up for our weekly newsletter!http://allpunkedup.com/subscribeThe All Punked Up Podcast is for those of you who love the pop punk, rock and alternative music genres and culture. They played in the NJ Scene for a few years and eventually realized that ska sucks my ass and evolved into the sounds that was Houston Calls. From there they did a shit ton of touring, signed to Drive-Thru, and broke up in the mid-2000s. A Houston resident listening to Wease on iHeart Radio calls with a flooding update.
Cissy Houston is the patriarch of the family. Mother to Whitney. Grandmother to Bobbi Kristina Brown. And former mother-in-law to Bobbi Brown. And a lifelong resident of Newark, she's lived a wonderful life and traveled the globe. I can't help but wonder if losing both parents at a young age prepared her for the later loss of her only daughter Whitney and later the loss of her dear granddaughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown.Still, she hasn't allowed these dark times and experiences to define her faith or her relationship with Jesus. When asked about her daughter's drug addiction, Houston said "I didn't feel guilty...about anything. I taught my children....This business is a real hard business to be in to, so I don't feel guilty about anything. I took them and did what I had to do to them to get help and they were fine," she said this morning on the STAR 99.1 Morning Show with Rick Hall and Mysti. Houston continued, "I'm healed...I was the kind of mother that I wanted to be. And they got what I gave and that was Jesus, and care, and all of the things that I do, and love.
