In a comprehensive presentation at the Proactive One2One Investor Conference, ANGLE PLC's CEO, Andrew Newland, and CFO, Ian Griffiths, detailed the company's innovative approach to cancer diagnosis and treatment. Newland emphasised ANGLE's breakthrough technology, the Parsortix system, a groundbreaking instrument designed for separating cancer cells from blood. This British-developed technology provides a viable alternative to traditional biopsies, especially useful as cancer evolves over time, making repeated tissue biopsies impractical. ANGLE PLC has achieved a significant milestone with the only FDA clearance globally for harvesting cancer cells from blood for analysis, taking six and a half years. This clearance serves as a major credibility factor in discussions with potential customers. Newland highlighted the company's successful commercialisation strategies, including worldwide distribution networks and partnerships with pharmaceutical companies. They are targeting the lucrative market of repeat biopsies, necessary for monitoring cancer progression, by offering a simpler, less invasive blood test. Their technology, already patented in major economic regions until 2034, can isolate cancer cells even in extremely low concentrations. The company's revenue doubled in 2023, reaching $2.2 million, with expectations to triple in 2024. Their business model includes both product sales and service offerings to pharmaceutical companies. These services are critical for drug trials, allowing repeated analysis of cancer cells during treatment, providing valuable data that is currently unattainable through other means. The CEO also unveiled the Parsortix cassette, a one-time use, microfluidic device, demonstrating their ability to capture living cancer cells for detailed analysis. This product, patent-protected and cost-effective to produce, can be sold for up to $300. Moreover, ANGLE's breakthrough in analysing both living cancer cells and circulating tumor DNA presents a new frontier in personalised cancer treatment. This dual analysis approach could revolutionise how the effectiveness of cancer treatments is monitored and adjusted over time. #ProactiveInvestors #ANGLEPLC #CancerResearch #ParsortixSystem #CancerDiagnosis #MedicalInnovation #FDAApproval #HealthcareTechnology #CancerTreatment #Biotechnology #Oncology #ClinicalTrials #Pharmaceuticals #CancerCells #CancerBiopsy #BloodSampleAnalysis #HealthTech #CancerTherapy #MedicalDevices #CancerDetection #InvestorConference #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Our monthly focus on 'The Foot & Ankle' continues, and in this episode we turn our attention to the extremely common and yet notoriously tricky to treat condition known as 'Plantar Fasciitis', and how other conditions of the foot, ankle and indeed whole body need to also be considered when presented with common symptoms. Joining us in this episode are Sports Podiatrists Maddie Tait of mtpodiatry.co.uk and Ian Griffiths of sportspodiatryinfo.co.uk. Maddie Tait and Ian Griffiths both have a huge amount of experience working with complex foot & ankle injuries. Maddie works closely with Foot and Ankle Consultants, Sports Medicine Doctors and Physiotherapists and has represented England in Hockey. Ian has spoken worldwide on the topics of lower limb biomechanics and foot orthoses, and is also a visiting lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, leading the biomechanics module on the MSc in Sports & Exercise Medicine. Topics discussed in this episode include: 'Plantar Fasciitis', 'Plantar Fasciopathy' or 'Persistent Heel Pain' - does the label we use matter? The importance of a thorough subjective assessment. Recognising red flags. Tests that could highlight when further investigation is needed. Calcaneal squeeze test for potential stress fracture. Having the confidence to refer out. The relevance of lower back pain. Plantar fibromas. Statins and heel pain. Rheumatoid arthritis and other systemic disease. When it comes to Sports Podiatry, Ian is the voice of reason. For those who don't know what Podiatry is, let alone Sports Podiatry, worry not, he explains that too. He knows the field like no other and casts a skeptical eye at some of the long held beliefs that exist regarding running shoes, orthoses and foot posture. In some ways aided by a wardrobe filled with running shoes (this is no exaggeration), Ian has lots of tips to share with runners looking to optimise their own running shoe collections. Guided by the science, we delve into a number of topics to discuss comfort, performance and injury risk. If you run, this episode is guaranteed to be a winner!

Together with Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Icarus and Jaime N Commons over Zoom video! Bristol-based duo Icarus makes a long-awaited return to Anjunadeep with original production ‘Moment In Time’. Featuring acclaimed British singer-songwriter Jamie N Commons, this new single marks their third on the label, following their 2016 hit ‘Hiding’ and their recent remix of CRi’s ‘From Me’. Known for their distinctive brand of emotive and melodic house music, Icarus a.k.a Tom and Ian Griffiths have garnered over 116m Spotify streams to date, and a global following from their steady stream of crossover hits such as ‘October’ and ‘Home’, featuring Aurora. What’s more, the duo has also remixed some of the world’s biggest acts including Jesse Ware, Pendulum, Martin Solveig, Wilkinson, and Rüfüs Du Sol. After a year-long hiatus from releasing original music, following the success of their 2020 project ‘Unfold’ via FFRR, Icarus returns now with ‘Moment In Time’, joining forces with fellow Bristolian, Jamie N Commons. With an all-star list of collaborations to his name, alongside artists like Jay Z, Eminem, and Skylar Grey; Jamie now showcases his powerhouse vocal and flair for emotive songwriting on this poignant new Anjunadeep single. ‘We wrote the original idea with Jamie a few years ago and knew we’d never got it ‘right’ for release. With the last year that the world has endured, we felt it was time to revisit the song as it had never felt more relevant than it does right now. We’re proud of where we’ve taken the track and we can’t wait for the world to hear it,’ Icarus says. ‘Moment In Time’ is out now on Anjunadeep. We want to hear from you! What do you consider when buying running shoes? Research shows that most runners think getting the "correct shoe" is important for avoiding injuries. But how do you know if you're in the "correct shoes"? Dr Codi Ramsey is an expert on running shoes and has been investigating the relationship between shoes and running injuries. Dr Ramsey is the Academic Lead for the Masters of Applied Science program at Otago Polytechnic in New Zealand. She joins me on the show today to discuss the problems we face when trying to use the evidence to make informed decisions about our running shoes. We discussed the difficulty in making strong recommendations based on the current evidence, as well as the problems that have arisen from shoe companies putting the marketing-cart before the research-horse. She also shares some practical tips that runners can use to evaluate shoes right there in the store, before making a purchase. Live podiatry chats with Craig Payne and Ian Griffiths. In this episode we were joined with Dr Bronnie Lennox Thompson and we discussed some of the beliefs that underpin when and why a person seeks care, and why a clinician should take the time to investigate this and also make sure the check their own assumptions. Bronnie also touched on why pain reduction/resolution is not always the primary goal, and discussed her research which looked into how some individuals live well with pain whilst others do not. This episode gestures toward the importance of history taking, motivational interviewing, pain science and human psychology (as as such has immediately become Ian's favourite episode!)
In this episode we talk to Ian Griffiths, podiatrist, good guy and a lover of shoes. He really knows about footwear and delves into the this during the podcast.
Live podiatry chats with Craig Payne and Ian Griffiths. In this episode we were joined by Physiotherapist and elite runner Anna Boniface to talk about RED-S. She discusses what it is, and the myriad of health implications on multiple body systems along with the performance implications which contributed to the renaming/evolution of this condition from its previous moniker; the female athlete triad (not to mention that males are not immune either!) Anna also covered the key, and often sensitive, questions to ask (about weight, periods and libido) and gave some tips for how to ask them. She also shared with us her own personal story of being diagnosed with it around the time she earnt her vest to represent England in the marathon. Finally, she highlighted how to manage this complex condition within the MDT.
Live podiatry chats with Craig Payne and Ian Griffiths. In this episode we were joined by Sports Podiatrist (and 2:14 marathoner) Thomas Do Canto to talk through his approach to taking a thorough history from an injured runner. Given the current global climate it is reasonable to assume there may be an increase in running injury rates: The Running "Coverload" Injury Phenomena - Griffiths (2020). Combine this with more remote/online consultations (where we may have to prioritise the subjective over the objective) and it should become clear why taking a good history from a runner is so important. Thomas talked us through his 4 page form which he sends to all runners for them to fill out before the consultation; and the rationale behind many of the questions on there and how they may really help him formulate a provisional diagnosis and management plan before he has even met the patient.

How do you make a star-shaped Cheerio? How do they make the glass on your smartphone screen so flat? And how can you make a vacuum filter that removes the most dust before it blocks? All of these challenges fall under the umbrella of industrial mathematics and they all have a common theme: we know the final properties of the product we want to make and need to come up with a way of manufacturing this. Ian Griffiths demonstrates how we can use mathematics to start with the final desired product and trace the problem ‘back in time’ to manufacture products that would otherwise be impossible to produce. Ian Griffiths is a Professor of Industrial Mathematics and a Royal Society University Research Fellow in the Mathematical Institute at the University of Oxford.

Ep39: Alex Hutchinson - Pushing The Limits of Human Performance.Alex Hutchinson is one of the world's most highly respected authorities on the subject of endurance sports. With a PhD in Physics from Cambridge and a Master’s in Journalism from Columbia, his articles in Runner’s World, Outside Magazine, The Globe & Mail, are internationally acclaimed. His 2011 book 'Which Comes First, Cardio or Weights?' is quite simply a 'must have' for anyone who does exercise. It was and still is THE bible of myth-busting misconceptions still found in the exercise industry. In this episode of Runchatlive, we focus mainly on his 2018 book 'Endure: Mind, Body and the Curiously Elastic Limits of Human Performance', a New York Times best seller. The thrilling account of his involvement at Nike's Breaking2 project in 2017 is in itself enough of a reason to read it, and it has so much more. Using endless real life examples of elite endurance athletes, Hutchinson explains why our individual limits may be determined as much by our head and heart, as by our muscles. We also talk to Alex about being one of the speakers at Tom Goom's ‘Running Rehab, from Pain to Performance’ conference this April in London, along with Ian Griffiths, Claire Minshull and Chris Napier. #Ep.9: We are delighted to bring you today the highly respected podiatrist & sports injury specialist Ian Griffiths of Sports Podiatry Info and PodChatLive. This episode really is a MUST listen for runners, therapists & coaches seeking evidence based ways to understand how we should be selecting running shoes, orthotics and insoles. Ian Griffiths has many years of experience working with in particular lower leg sports injuries and gives some excellent insight into how the traditional way of assessing & prescribing orthoses (inserts in layman's terms) has changed over the years, particularly with what we now know about the role of kinetics (forces) in injury rather than just focusing on kinematics (joint movement). We also look at how YOU the runner can tell if the podiatrist / physiotherapist / sports therapist / health professional you visit is up to date with the evidence.Apologies for the delay in starting the live broadcast. We started using new software this week to allow equal split screen so wasn't sure if we were actually live!If you enjoy the content, do please take a few moments to LIKE us on iTunes as that makes a HUGE difference in helping us reach new listeners. With a musical resume that includes show busking across Europe, and a stint performing alongside circus acts in Granada, The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra makes folk music with a worldly sound. In this set, you’ll hear Spanish, Celtic, Roma, and African influences on display as the band shares their unique brand of roots music. The performance you’ll hear tonight was recorded on the weekend of the 2015 Canadian Folk Music Awards. And, as you’ll hear, the crowd was in a mood to celebrate. The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra is Ian Griffiths on vocals, keys and accordion, Kurt Loewen on vocals and guitar, Paul Wolda on percussion, Mack Shields on fiddle, and Keith Rodger on bass and mandolin.
