Cameron started training Jiu Jitsu at the age of 7 in Centennial, Colorado. He instantly fell in love with the sport and has been absolutely fascinated ever since. Cameron earned his blue belt at the age of 15 before being sidelined by a severe neck injury. This downtime turned out to be a blessing in disguise, though, because it helped Cameron discover his passion for teaching Jiu Jitsu. After receiving his purple belt, Cameron decided to make the pilgrimage to OCBJJ under the instruction of professor Tom Deblass in order to pursue his goal of becoming the best in the world. He has worked his way through the belt rankings, earning his black belt in January 2024. With Deblass's coaching, he has won the Pan-American Games, American Nationals, ADCC Open, and earned silver and bronze medals in the IBJJF Worlds. OCBJJ is a tight-knit family and Cameron couldn't be happier to be a part of the world-class instruction taking place at Ocean County Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.@cameronmellottThanks for listening to My White Belt!Order your My White Belt Shirts here: https://www.mywhitebelt.com/shopDonate to support our work here: https://cash.app/$JimTrick or Venmo @Jim-Trick (0423 if they ask) Join our free, My White Belt Wednesday, newsletter here: https://www.mywhitebelt.com/Follow us on Instagram @mywhitebeltSupport My White Belt when you shop ORIGIN x JOCKO FUEL by using discount code: TRICK10 https://originmaine.com/?ref=iRlDmaPt8CdIHSBighorn Athletics is the official grappling tape of My White Belt!Use code Mywhitebelt to save 10%https://www.bighornathletics.com/Check out Tactition Trays for your Every Day Carry! https://tacticiantrays.com/Use code: TRICK10 to save $$$Submit podcast questions here:https://www.mywhitebelt.com/podcast

Grappling Rewind: Breakdowns of Professional BJJ and Grappling Events
This week on the show Maine and Ryan Stark break down and that is a term being used loosely this week the 2018 IBJJF No Gi worlds, a championship given special recognition on non ADCC years. This event was really tough to cover, not goanna lie. Maine blew his knee out this weekend, was super sick as well. Flo shows 12 mats at a time, and then the finals, its really really hard to recap the event with any fullness within 24 hours after the event ends. We did out best this week. This show is not really in the standard format so; look out for our 2018 recap and top 10 matches that we do every year for Christmas next week where the show returns from the mental attrition that occurred this weekend trying to process this massive event. I’m goanna go take a nap now. Recorded 12-17-2018
Erik Paulson holds a 5th degree black belt under Rigan Machado in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He is also the founder of CSW gym in Fullerton, CA. He is a black belt in multiple martial arts and as a pioneer in mixed martial arts was the first American to win light heavyweight gold in the Shooto promotion in Japan. I spent a few hours with Erik this past weekend in Fullerton, CA at CSW gym while I was in town for IBJJF Worlds. Erik is one of the most interesting people you'll meet in the martial arts world and has an encyclopedic knowledge of all things grappling / mma related. It was an honor to sit down with Erik and hang out at the legendary CSW gym. Erik Paulson is widely known as the trainer of former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, Ken Shamrock, and Josh Barnett. Enjoy !
