Inspired by the Kris Paronto interview with Shawn Ryan, Professor Paul read the book “13 Hours” by Michael Zuckoff. As usual, Paul read the book with a pen and highlighters close at hand. We began the discussion on Wednesday's public hour and now we will continue addressing this topic in depth. Paul took four pages of notes regarding lessons that can be learned from the attacks on 9/11/12. What is the job of a bodyguard? What did General Patton say about a “good plan”? Why do sheep fear the sheepdog more so than the wolf? We will answer all these questions and more. Don't miss this episode. Who can ever forget the hubris of Hillary Clinton, as she sat before the world and spat out in exasperation, “ ..What difference at this point does it make?!” That moment was enough for us all to understand that the four Americans who died in Benghazi, as well as those who survived, were now just a nuisance in the eyes of the government. Or at least, in the eyes of the people holding power in the government. None of the survivors expected a parade or medals, but they certainly deserved both. And yet, instead, what they got was disdain and contempt from the people whose political careers mattered more than the lives they used to advance themselves. It's no wonder that they felt a need to tell the world what really happened that night. But the aftermath of the blockbuster moving and best-selling book about those 13 hours swept them up in a whirlwind that knocked Kris “Tanto” Paronto off his path. For him, it was the beginning of a series of events that altered his life completely. In this episode, Kris Paronto takes us on that path with him, from the seduction of the spotlight, to the carnage it caused, and how he rebuilt after all of it. Here are some of the topics discussed:The business side of the book, 13 HoursInner conflict between guilt and enjoymentCoping mechanisms that created more carnage in his lifeLessons learned from his mistakesThe difference between speaking about pain, vs providing valueDealing with hatersThe interview with Pete Hegseth that prompted Kris to walk away from mediaMentorsSpread the podcast and share with your friends! www.flexyourfreedompodcast.comFollow Barb Allen on InstagramSubscribe on YouTubeLearn About the Great American Syndicate

On today's Zero Limits Podcast we chat with Kris "Tanto" Paronto a former U.S. Army Ranger, CIA security contractor an American author and businessman. The incident in Benghazi that occurred on the night of September 11, 2012 when security contractors and American Government Diplomats were left surrounded by hordes of armed members from the Islamic militant group Ansar al Sharia. With nowhere to run and no promise of help from the outside, six American security CIA contractors better known as GRS (global response staff) readily put their lives on the line to rescue and protect Americans stationed in Benghazi saving more than twenty lives. The security team fought for over 13 hours under heavy machine gun, rocket and mortar fire. Their acts of heroism and self-sacrifice that night were captured in the book and Hollywood movie, "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi". Among the six security contractors was Kris Paronto, also known as Tanto. He and his teammates quickly gained fame as national heroes after the media filled our country with the details of the Battle of Benghazi, but they were American heroes long before then. Since leaving the military and Agency, Kris has become a serial entrepreneur with a clothing line, vodka brand, podcast, shooting and medical training courses. Let's Go!
What a pleasure sitting down with Mr. Kris Paronto to learn about his life story, growing up in a family that focused on growth and a never quit attitude, to his time in the Military, Contracting, briefly covering on Benghazi, and spending time understanding the application of the "Never Quit Mindset". https://kristantoparonto.com/ @real_kris_tanto_paronto @the.vanguard.project Sponsors: Eberlestock - call Tucker at the Retail Store (208) 424-5081 Black Rifle Coffee // code 'VANGUARD' 20% off Mountain Primal Meat Co. // code 'VANGUARD' for 15% off Bravo Concealment // code: 'TheVanguard10'

Jack Thomas Smith made his feature film directorial debut with the psychological thriller “Disorder.” He was also the writer and producer of that film. “Disorder” opened as a limited theatrical release in the United States in the summer of 2006 and was later released on DVD by Universal/Vivendi and Overseas; it screened at the Cannes Film Festival and the Raindance Film Festival in London. Inspired by the films of George A. Romero, Stanley Kubrick, Brian De Palma, and John Carpenter, Smith wrote and directed a handful of short films as a teenager, which led to a career as a film producer and director. He wrote, produced, and directed the dark thriller “Infliction,” which dealt with the horrors of child abuse and its long-term effects. He also created the documentary TV series “War Heroes,” hosted by Benghazi hero Kris Paronto and directed and co-produced the Newsmax documentary, “9/11: The Day That Shook the World.” Mandy Del Rio has worked on feature films, music videos, and artist promotion. Del Rio is also the host and producer of the cable TV talk show “The Indie Lounge” and served as an executive producer of the documentary TV series “War Heroes” and the Newsmax documentary “9/11: The Day That Shook the World,” which premiered on Friday, September 10th, 2021. The pilot episode of “War Heroes” premiered Sunday, September 12th on Newsmax. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/oneamerican/support

In this podcast episode, I take a break from the technical topics to which my readers and podcast listeners are accustomed. I wanted to interview someone from outside normal safety circles, someone that can bring a unique perspective on the values we want to hold as safety professionals: integrity, honesty, teamwork, never-quit attitude. Please be sure to listen to the interview as it is not transcribed here. Please read more about Kris below. Kris Paronto Kris Paronto - “Tanto” as he is affectionately known in security contracting circles - is a former Army Ranger from 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment and a private security contractor who has deployed throughout South America, Central America, the Middle East, and North Africa. He also worked with the US Government’s Global Response Staff conducting low profile security in high threat environments throughout the world. Mr. Paronto was part of the CIA annex security team that responded to the terrorist attack on the US Special Mission in Benghazi, Libya, September 11th, 2012, helping to save over 20 lives while fighting off terrorists from the CIA Annex for over 13 hours. Mr. Paronto’s story is told in the book “13 Hours” written by Mitchell Zuckoff and his five surviving annex security team members. The Patriot's Creed When Kris began talking with civilians about his experiences fighting the terrorist attack on the US State Department Special Mission Compound in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012, he was surprised at how often people told him that the story of his extraordinary battle gave them the courage to face tough times in their everyday lives. "The odds were stacked against us that night but the truth is that we refused to quit and we beat them with faith, teamwork, and the principles that were first instilled in me when I joined the Army. You can find those in the Rangers Creed and the Army Values," he says, "and you don't have to be a Special Operations soldier to use them." In The Patriot's Creed, Kris uses the seven core Army Values that all soldiers learn in Basic Combat Training, and the experiences of other servicemen and women and First Responders, to explain how anyone can improve themselves, the world around them, and live a heroic life. The stakes are dramatic for the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to fight for America, and too many of their acts of courage and honor are unknown. The examples of their persistence and discipline will be inspiring to anyone facing seemingly insurmountable obstacles. At a time of national polarization, Kris draws attention to values all readers can share and use, and to the honor, integrity, and courage of true patriots who have gone to great lengths to protect and serve. They embody the best of us and make Kris Paronto proud to be an American soldier. The Ranger Way Thousands of people have heard Kris "Tanto" Paronto speak about his experiences in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. But before he was a security contractor, Tanto was a US Army Ranger from the 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment. Rangers are trained to lead by being pushed to their physical and mental limits so that they can perform against impossible odds in punishing situations. In THE RANGER WAY, Tanto shares stories from his training experiences that played a role in his team's heroic response in Benghazi as he explains the importance of demanding excellence when you commit to improving your life. He shows you how to define your mission, set goals that are in alignment with your values, and develop a battle plan that will maximize your chances of success. You will learn why you should never quit and why that is different from never failing. Tanto uses his experiences in Basic and Ranger Training to explore how to deal with mistakes and disappointment like a leader, accept responsibility, and turn every obstacle into an opportunity for growth. You will learn why being of service to others, and being willing to sacrifice, will help you succeed, and how the power of humility, strength, faith, and brotherhood will sustain you on the road to accomplishing your mission. 13 Hours The harrowing, true account from the brave men on the ground who fought back during the Battle of Benghazi. 13 HOURS presents, for the first time ever, the true account of the events of September 11, 2012, when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there. Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism, to avert tragedy on a much larger scale. This is their personal account, never before told, of what happened during the thirteen hours of that now-infamous attack. [Warning - Difficult audio until about 4 minutes in.] Kris "Tanto" Paronto is a former Army Ranger. He's an EXPERT in tactical security and combat. If his name sounds familiar, there's a good reason for that. Kris was there on that fateful night on September 11th, 2012 in Benghazi, Libya. An armed mob of militants attacked the U.S. State Department Special Mission Compound... ...and a nearby CIA station called the Annex. Kris, through his bravery, proved himself a true warrior that night. Disobeying a "stand down" order that he knew he could not live with, he and his fellow American security operators went beyond the call of duty. They went forward, toward the danger, and into the pages of history. In this week's podcast episode, Modern Combat & Survival's Jeff Anderson interviews the legendary Kris Paronto on a wide range of personal security topics, gleaning his wisdom on how to stay safe in a dangerous world. Here's What You'll Discover In This Week's Episode: The warning signs that you're in a bad neighborhood (that you might not think to look for). A weird trick you can use to scare away burglars from your front door... even when you aren't home! The best way to overcome hesitation or squeamishness when it comes to violence. The DEAD GIVEAWAYS that most criminals show when they mean you harm. And much, much more! Kris Paronto is an expert when it comes to this stuff. Listen to this fascinating interview and pick up some knowledge you haven't heard anywhere else!
Chuck Woolery and Mark Young are joined by Benghazi hero Kris Paronto. Kris joins Chuck and Mark to discuss some of the events surrounding Benghazi and share more about what he has been doing recently. They start off by talking about confidence and being given the "hero" tag. Kris explains why he does not see himself as a hero and still thinks it's strange when he is recognized in public. Chuck and Mark share some thoughts on why that is different than today's younger generations. Mark moves the conversation into the events in Benghazi that almost cost Kris his life. Kris shares more about being abandoned by our government in a time of crisis and how military assets were available in the area but never accessed by the government. Also, Chuck and Mark ask Kris about his thoughts on our involvement in the middle east. He shares his experiences that illustrate why we should not be intervening. Kris adds that when we do get involved, we do not go in with intention of fixing the issue as quickly as possible. They finish up by discussing what Kris has been doing lately. They learn more about his latest book and newest series that will be released soon. Kris also shares more about his tactical weapons training that he has been doing across the country and what the classes offer. We start off the podcast with editor-in-chief Jack Murphy discussing both some of the criticism and praise we've received over SOFREP.com posting footage of the killing of Green Berets in Niger by ISIS. This controversy is by no means something that we take lightly, and Jack wanted to be frank with the audience of why this decision was made. More can be read on this in Jack's post "Why we published the Niger video." Our special guest this show is none other than All That Remains frontman Phil Labonte. ATR is celebrating their 20th year as a band, and many of you loved their video for the song "Madness" featuring Kris Paronto which raised awareness for post-traumatic stress related issues in combat veterans as well as soldier suicide. Phil shares some great stories of coming up touring with bands like Five Finger Death Punch (who he's filled in for on vocals) and Motograter (a name you may remember if you were into the nu-metal scene about 15 years back.) Not only is Phil an accomplished musician though, he's also a former Marine and a gun store owner. He was even at SHOT Show which we discuss, and he recently got some attention for the video on his Youtube channel talking the issue of gun control after the Florida school shooting. After wrapping with Phil we pay our respects to WWII fighter pilot Jerry Yellin, who flew the last combat mission over Japan. We just recently found out of his passing at 93. Brandon Webb however did have the fortune of interviewing Jerry just recently on The Power of Thought (Episode 13) which is very worth checking out. Then, we give out a Throat Punch of the Week for the first time in a while. In this special episode, Riley was able to sit down with Kris "Tanto" Paronto for an interview while at the Safariland booth at SHOT Show 2018. They talk about the Benghazi incident, the writing of the book and making of the movie. Kris has recently launched a new training company Battleline Tactical, and we get into what Battleline Tactical is all about, training philosophies and what's coming up for the war veteran.
We always love hearing from great friend to the show Kris Paronto, but we especially were interested in hearing what he had to say about the capturing of Mustafa al-Imam by special operations forces and FBI agents earlier this week. al-Imam is being called one of the key militants in the 2012 Benghazi consulate attack that Kris survived. You'll hear the way that Kris would handle the situation, and if this news gives him any real sense of closure. Kris has also launched a firearms tactical training company with fellow Benghazi survivor Dave "Boon" Benton, called Battleline Tactical, and they are going all around the country giving their expertise for anyone interested in learning from two experienced veterans and former contractors. Also, to celebrate the 242nd anniversary of the United States Marine Corps, Jason will be at his tattoo shop, Black Attic Tattoo, signing copies of his book "Bounty Hunter 4/3." He hopes to see some SOFREP supporters come out and hang. Keep your e-mails coming to sofrep.radio@sofrep.com, and leave a review for us on iTunes.
