Delivered by Father Peter Tukan, SDB from Salesian Don Bosco Gerak in the Diocese of Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. Jeremiah 26: 1-9; Rs psalm 69: 5.8-10.14; Matthew 13: 54-58 THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT BELIEVING The theme for our meditation today is: The Consequences of Not Believing. During his life and especially his work as a missionary far from his own country, Father Anthony always taught his people to believe in God's providence. For him, by believing all questions and problems in life will find answers. On the other hand, if humans and believers begin to decline and lose their faith in God, their lives will begin to enter a phase of dangers and loss of divine blessings. Once upon a time, when he returned from his visit to a village, Father Anthony met a farmer, a father who had five sons. He told the Father that his faith in God was beginning to decline. Why? After his third child was born as a boy, he really hoped and prayed that his next child would be a girl. In reality, his fourth and fifth children were all boys. He began to doubt God's intervention in him and his family life. “Boys and girls are equal in the presence of God,” the Pastor responded, “they are human persons entrusted by God that we must accept and be grateful for.” Then the Pastor asked, “What about your older children?” The farmer answered somewhat sadly, “They are the ones causing trouble in the house. They like to fight and their lives are far from discipline and good manners. They do not listen to their parents.” Father Anthony convinced the farmer by saying, “You must return to believing in God unconditionally, and you must change your view of family and having children. You must not differentiate between boys and girls.” The Pastor saw a glimmer of hope on the father's face. He seemed to regret his attitude so far, which had begun to doubt God's providence. His faith seemed more shaken than simply surrendering to God and remaining grateful. The illustration above is enough to give us a warning that the consequences of a lack of trust or disbelief in the form of danger, accidents and difficulties come by themselves. God allows that to happen. Living by trusting God unconditionally has given us space to receive grace after grace. However, when that trust begins to fade and become smaller, grace begins to not come and that is a direct result of lack of trust or distrust. Just as the Lord Jesus Himself treated people in His hometown who did not believe in Him, He will also do the same to anyone among us who fades or even loses his trust in God's providence. Actually, believing in God is quick and easy for us to do, because we just use our mind, awareness and will. However, what is a challenge and a difficulty is our ability to consistently maintain that trust in God. Therefore, we must always pray so that our faith will be strengthened and become mature. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O Lord, increase our lacking faith and strengthen our weak faith. Glory to the Father and to the Son ... In the name of the Father ...

This week Pastor Chris shares a message with us titled Seeing is Not Believing. These are some of the key scriptures for your reference.John 6:35-40 (KJV)35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. 36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. 37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.John 6:13-15 (KJV)13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. 14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. 15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.John 6:36 (KJV)36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.2 Corinthians 13:5 (KJV)5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?1 Timothy 6:3-7 (KJV)3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.Acts 2:37 (KJ V)37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Tony is on this week, and he brought his disavowing boots. So let's see how many times we can make him wish he had never done that thing which I use to black mail him into doing my bidding. Not Believing in True StoriesFilm Actors GuildWhen a movie says that it is "Based on a true story" that means everything in it is completely factually accurate because dramatic license doesn't exist. Seriously though, don't base your whole ideology around movies, someday the writer will be revealed to be a sex pest and now you're completely devoid of personality. People can't do that though so they must defend to the death a movie, or risk being considered not a real fan.The Film Actors Guild (S) went on strike this week. So all your mindless hours of television are going to be delayed. Oh no, what ever will I do without another Disney film for the rest of my life? I think it's odd they want you to stand in solidarity, but they don't want you to boycott the companies supposedly raking them over the coals. Wouldn't mass deletion of Netflix accounts make the executives race to solve the problem? Keep consuming dear customer, keep consuming. All of that plus a head of state gets the finger, a "tragic" fire, and who got banned form the Voicemails?

On today's podcast, we’re joined by Steph and James Purpura.Steph and James Purpura's journey of transformation is nothing short of extraordinary. Before they met 15 years ago, both James and Steph Purpura's lives had hit rock bottom. Each was financially, emotionally, and spiritually bankrupt. At the lowest point in their lives, they met and shared a vision of creating a life beyond their wildest dreams. They started by helping each other to personally evolve, clearing away barriers to self-fulfillment using the power of perception to change self-limiting beliefs. This enabled them to better sense and take advantage of opportunities, which led to their award-winning documentary and book, "Perception: Seeing is Not Believing" is sweeping the personal development and documentary circuit by storm. Today, their goal is to inspire fellow seekers to tap into their unlimited potential, through a personalized combination of philosophy, science, technology, and community. In this episode you'll hear..: About the paths they have traveled (Shortly after meeting, Steph wrote James' first resume and taught him how to send an email. This initiated an unlikely but highly successful career in the technology industry. Fast forward more than a decade, and their personal philosophy around perception had further evolved, along with the rapid growth in their tech company, until its sale gave them the freedom to begin helping others full time.)Why they believe the unrealized potential of the individual is both the source and solution for those who find the state of humanity inadequate. How that led to their seminar company, “Powerful U” Learn more and connect with Steph and James here: www.Powerful-U.com https://www.instagram.com/powerful.u/ https://www.facebook.com/ThePowerfulU/ https://powerful-u.com/free-resources/ - Showing how to remove barriers, reach your full potential, and realize your dreams See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

She tied a rope around her neck, dropped to the floor, and everything went black. Two people in crisis, worlds apart, independently arrived at the same conclusion. Own your life, or lose it! In their new book and film entitled Perception: Seeing is Not Believing, James and Steph Purpura recount in raw detail how those tragic events became the catalyst for dramatic life changes that brought them together, and their discovery of the keys to unlocking their perceptions, challenging their beliefs, and changing their behaviors. According to James, "Everything you are, everything you see, everything you experience, is determined by perception. In our interview, James notes: "This book is not meant to be a personal development book; it is meant to create a fundamental shift inside you by redefining the way you think about all your experiences, and reshaping how you experience your life. It doesn't matter where you are currently in your life, whether you are at the top of your field, just getting started, or somewhere in between. If you take the time to fully understand the concepts and apply them to your life, you will achieve a level of self-mastery you never dreamed possible. It is time to rise up and experience your life to the fullest. It is time to evolve."

As this podcast goes to air, we are moving through the 3rd phase of the moon… a time of releasing the excess energy you may have picked up since the new moon. Mercury is finally moving. It has been a few weeks of extreme energy, not to mention an excess amount of fear in the mass consciousness. The thing is…the old structures are falling down and there is a lot of cover up in trying to preserve some of the structures… But as I believe…it is time to raise the vibration and rebuild to a higher level of consciousness. Aligning with the cosmic forces and being aware of the cycles of the moon can help you to adjust your energy as well. All of this cosmic force energy I talk about on my Energy Focus for the week, which you can always catch live on Sunday nights or the replays on my website. But it took years of trial and error using their relationship to test new ideas, theories and practices with each other. As they created a new life together, James and Steph formulated an evolutionary plan for living that resulted in tremendous personal and professional success. Now their hugely successful Powerful U Events and programs are changing the lives of millions. Screen the movie here… for free this month! Their mission is to provide a roadmap for creating meaning in people's lives and showing them how to master their perceptions and their emotions, the two factors that separate a life of desperation and unhappiness from one of joy, love and accomplishment. According to James and Steph, "Everything you are, everything you see, everything you experience, is determined by perception. And it is your emotions that give your life the only meaning it has." In this episode, James also offers us an exercise from their powerful Emotional Integration Technique. What are the components that shape your perception of the world? How many of you allow your emotions to control the way you feel about your life? What happens when those emotions are based on stories that you have created from painful past events? What I am suggesting is that it is not the events in your life that cause you pain and disassociation from your spirit, but rather what you have told yourself about the event. When we experience difficult events or even traumatic events, it is not the event that hurts your spirit and joy, it is what you have made up in your head about the event. Thoughts like, "I am no good," "I can’t do anything right," "I am unloveable," "Everyone abandons me," "I am not deserving of love" …these are just a few examples of the lies we tell ourselves that continuously operate under the surface and control your emotional reactions, hurt your intimate relationships, and limit your sense of joy. How do we become free from our past? Today my guest, James Purpura, author of "Perception - Seeing is Not Believing," will give some tips on how to change your unwanted emotions based on the lies that you created in fear. James Purpura is the Co-Founder and CEO of Powerful U, an organization with the goal of improving and shifting the lives of billions. He is also an author, a speaker, and entrepreneur who overcame extreme drug addiction and incarceration to then realize that he is the creator of all the experiences of his life. He changed his story to find the love of his life Stephanie, become a multimillionaire, and create a company that has impacted the lives of so many. Together, James and Steph Co-authored their book, Perception: Seeing is Not Believing and co-created their recent film which documents both of their inspiring stories. I really enjoyed this conversation with James. He is one of the more knowledgeable people on the subject of perception that I’ve ever spoken with. His passion for helping others is contagious. I watched the film before this interview and I was blown away by both he and his wife’s stories and what they overcame to become who they are today. It’s a powerful film I would highly recommend watching to anyone. (Link Below) This conversation is packed with VERY valuable information. I would suggest listening to it multiple times as I have. There is information in here that can radically transform your life NOW. In fact this conversation was so juicy with rich information I had a hard time narrowing down some of the topics to put on this description. Here are a few: -We talk about how subjective reality is and how we are always making assumptions based on our past and projecting that into our future and how to change that. -Shifting the perspective on what rejection really is -Freeing yourself from primal programming and needing validation *The film is available on their website you can find here: https://watch.powerful-u.com/products/perception-seeing-is-not-believing **You can also pick up a copy of their book Perception: Seeing is Not Believing at any Barnes & Noble or on their website www.powerful-u.com Connect on Instagram: @powerful.u
James and Steph Purpura’s journey of transformation is nothing short of extraordinary. Before they met 15 years ago, both of their lives had hit rock bottom. They were both financially, emotionally, and spiritually bankrupt. At the lowest point in their lives, they met and were united by a shared vision of creating and becoming more. They started the only place they could, by working on themselves and helping each other grow. They believed in each other but more importantly, they challenged each other every step of the way, and never settled. Fast forward 15 years, after many ups and downs and a lot of hard work, Steph and James sold their tech company, one of the world’s largest construction software companies, they have five beautiful children and live an extraordinary life. Through this journey of self-creation, they developed a personal philosophy centered around perception. They believe perception, more than any other factor, will determine how someone’s life will turn out. Their new book is entitled, Perception: Seeing is Not Believing. Visit https://powerful-u.com. Introduction The vast majority of the time, cries of racist, sexist, ableist and ageist and on and on are the Politically Correct accusations hurled at individuals and groups. The intention is to completely remove these accused entities from being allowed to have any legitimate part in the public discourse. To cancel them as the new terminology goes. And to do all of this without a legitimate set of facts, or anything that looks like a logical train of thought. At Revolution 2.0™ the point is not to out-insult and out-shout the ist-yellers; the point is to use verbal judo when engaged in these conversations, or when talking or writing about this type of dialog. Judo, the “gentle art” uses the opponent's’ size and strength against them. In judo, we watch the other person, get a feel for what they are doing and what they might do next. When they move against us, we use their momentum against them to “gently” move them to the floor. At Revolution 2.0, we do something very similar. We listen to what the other person is saying and decide how to use their enthusiasm, their initial thinking and reasoning, to move them to where we want them--to where we believe they need to be. Unlike judo, we do not intend to defeat anyone; we lead. We do not react and reply in kind; we lead. That is the subject of today’s 10-minute episode. Continuing Let’s look at some of the things that can very quickly escalate--requiring us to use our verbal judo skills, in these cases leading to long and loud accusations of racism: Pointing out that 70% of blacks youths grow up in fatherless homes. That stat is often cited as a useful way of seeking a solution to the array of negative issues facing children of all races in homes without a dad. Saying that the disproportionate number of blacks in prison is not due to racial bias in the judicial system; it is due to the disproportionate number of blacks committing crimes. Arguing that despite its many flaws, including slavery, that the US is inherently an exceptional and good country. Defending people as diverse as Christopher Columbus, George Washington, Martin Luther King and Robrt E. Lee as heroes despite their many flaws. Saying that you are not a racist. To a growing number of people, that is proof that you are a racist. And some similar examples with sexism: Not “Believing all women.” No matter what they say. Try defending yourself by saying that you take everyone’s initial statements and claims at face value, regardless of gender, until proven false--and count the milliseconds until you suddenly become a sexist. Point out that trans women are biologically men, and have a built-in, unfair advantage competing in most sports with biological women. You can even point out, correctly, that this is unfair to women. Say that men and women are different. Claim that you are not a sexist. Let’s add two from the “phobe” category; xenophobe and homophobe: If you want to know if you are a xenophobe, announce that you support having secure national borders. Even if you follow that with a statement that once the borders are secure, you would support things like DACA and a path to citizenship for those who are here illegally. Supporting secure national borders is prima facie proof that you are a xenophobe. And you probably want to put kids into cages. Claim, if it is true for you, that your have many and good friends who are immigrants from south of the border. “Ha! Guilty! That’s what all xenophobes say!” Here’s a reliable test for homophobia. Announce that you believe that no one can be compelled to use their artistic talents, an extension of protected first amendment rights, to do anything they simply do not wish to do. Claim, once again if true for you, that you have good friends with seual orientations far different from yours. (See previous) These above examples are all born in an already deep and growing embarrassment and dislike for Am...
Sometimes success isn't about always doing more. Often times, it's about doing less. Drop these seven things from your life and I know you'll find more success than ever. 7 Things to Give Up to Become Successful 1. Impressing Others Don't compare your life to someone else's highlight reel on social media. The only person to compare yourself with is your former self. 2. Doing Shit You Hate 2019 is the year to stop doing things that don't bring your fulfillment and joy. Life's too short to spend time on things that are killing your energy and fulfillment. 3. Not Believing in Yourself Belief is a choice, choose to believe in you. While you might need to put in the work to reprogram your subconscious beliefs, it's worth it. Check your old stories and reshape your beliefs. 4. Trying to Be Perfect No one is perfect, despite what you see on social media. It's okay to have flaws, every human does. Focus on improving and show others how you deal with your imperfections. Remember, 70% done is PERFECT. 100% done is FAILURE! 5. Toxic People The five people you spend the most time with have a HUGE impact on your income, happiness, motivation, and other areas. Don't waste time with people who aren't motivated and are dragging you down. 6. Impressing Others People are going to judge you regardless of what you do. Quit trying to impress others and start impressing yourself. 7. Thinking Small Life's too short to not thing BIG. Ask yourself, will you feel better by thinking and achieving small or thinking big and getting to 80% achievement? Because even if you "fail" you're going to be way ahead of where you would with small thinking. Not Believing in Roadblocks, Part II – The Making of a Photojournalist Photojournalist and 2016 World Press Photo award winner Adriane Ohanesian joins us for a captivating two-part conversation on her work in South Sudan, Darfur, and Burma, and describes how she made the transition from anthropology student to conflict and humanitarian photographer. This conversation is divided into two parts, but its themes of women in photojournalism and the difficult but fulfilling life of freelance work in war-torn areas permeates the entire conversation. With her confident and compassionate demeanor, Ohanesian relates how she was introduced to the cultures of East Africa, snuck into South Sudan to begin her career, faced down military commanders and navigated a month-long trek into Darfur to photograph displaced families living in a cave. She also talks about the challenges and advantages of being a female photojournalist and the amazing resilience of people living through years of war and abuse. Also joining us on this compelling episode is B&H writer Jill Waterman. We’re proud to present the voice of a young photojournalist from whom we expect to hear a great deal in the years to come. This week on Mousterpiece Cinema, Josh and Gabe are getting ready for a trip all the way to London, circa 1940. It's the Age of Not Believing, but they've got open minds, or they're trying to. Yes, it's time for us to have some fun with Bedknobs and Broomsticks, the 1971 film starring Angela Lansbury and David Tomlinson that may owe a debt or two or twelve to Mary Poppins, from its Sherman Brothers songs to its animated sequence to everything in between. Is this movie nothing more than a knockoff, or does it have hidden charms beneath all the tomfoolery? Are we in...a tight spot? (And what does a Coen Brothers reference have to do with this film?) Find out today!
