IN THIS EPISODE: You've crawled into bed ready for a good night's sleep. You begin to nod off, but haven't completely fallen asleep yet. That's when you sense something in the room near your bed. Despite your fright, you can't cry out, run, or scream. The thing then climbs on top of you and suddenly you realize it's grotesque, but also alluring – female, seductive, and while you can't move, your body still responds to her intimate advances. You've just become the next victim of the succubus.*** The Devil made me do it" is the oldest excuse in the world; and for nearly every crime it is just that, an excuse. But I said “nearly” every crime. Once in a while there are crimes where the perpetrator is the real deal. We'll look at real crimes committed by real demons. (The Devil Made Me Do It) *** An exorcism consultant tells us about one of the creepiest cases he was ever called in on. A case very different than other exorcisms he had been a part of or witness to. (The Creepiest Exorcism Case Ever) *** And while on the subject of exorcisms, we'll exorcise one more demon – one that is reeking havoc in, of all places, a printing office. (The Demon of the Printing Office) *** Did you know that you are honoring one of hell's seven princes every time you use the toilet? I'll tell you about Belphegor – who prefers offerings of human feces! He first discusses why understanding injury is essential, then moves to define lameness versus asymmetry. The problem is predicting the outcome for individual horses. 2) Using What We Know To Influence Injury Prevention, Chris Kawcak, DVM. The task of identifying at-risk horses before they are injured. This discussion is divided into 1) external data using wearable devices, 2) internal data, 3) perceptual well-being, and 4) readiness. He touches on machine learning (AI), reiterating the importance of easily predicting before they occur. 3) Medical Perspectives in the Equine Social License to Operate, Chris Kowcak, DVM. This talk was about how the world perceives the use of horses in sports, creating a loss in industries such as Greyhound racing and reducing the workforce in all horse-related endeavors. He discusses the industry's efforts to provide transparency to make things better for horses. 4) Update on Yearling Thoroughbred Repository Findings, Chris Kowcak, DVM. This well-funded study brought radiographs of 2-year-old sale Thoroughbreds that independent radiologists assessed. Then, race results analyzed a year later helped to look back on the radiographic findings with a clearer insight into their ability to predict injury or lack of further damage based on lesions seen.
