NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES! This is a very special episode in honor of Memorial Day. Papaw Paul joins us once again to host this great episode with two, local members of the D.A.V. Danny Robinson served in the USAF from 1976-1980. With his family being very supportive of him joining, Danny spent his time working as a mechanic on F4 Fighter Jets. The only thing that he didn't enjoy was washing planes and dealing with PD680 cleaner. Though he was never deployed over seas Danny holds his time in the service near and dear to his heart. Danny would never be one to say it but he has played a huge roll in the progress of the local D.A.V. and the Jackson County Veterans Park. Jim Bryant served in the US Army for a total of 22 years. His mother in no way wanted him to join but when Jim was 17 years old she finally took him and signed him up. He spent some time in Vietnam and also served 11 years in Germany. He worked as a mechanic throughout his military career and always viewed it as a job that he signed up to do. Monday, May 27, 2024 at the Jackson County Veterans Park in McKee Kentucky. The local chapter of The Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) will hold a ceremony honoring all of our Veterans who never made it home from war. The ceremony begins at 11:00am and everyone is welcome to attend. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL D.A.V.!!! WE THANK GOD FOR ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE WILLING TO PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE TO PROTECT OUR FREEDOM! We thank you for listening and supporting the podcast! In this episode, Tubby, Shawn Hemp, Zach London & LUNG$ randomly listen to the debut album by producer, Metro Boomin, "Not All Heroes Wear Capes".
In this deeply moving episode, join myself and Jono Lancaster, author of ‘Not All Heroes Wear Capes', as he shares his raw and inspiring life journey. In today's conversation, Jono unveils the story behind his book and the personal revelations that shaped him, including living with Treacher Collins Syndrome and how it has uniquely affected his life. This episode is a testament to the human spirit's strength and the importance of open conversations about mental health. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Sorry for the wait... here's a (brief) summer recap. Summer Jam Screen is filled with my family vacation, fade in the water, and the booty warrior. Selling Hope Like Dope has Tim Gurner saying the quiet part out loud. Hold This L goes to Glitch McConnell and the January 6th leaders getting football numbers in the feds. Not All Heroes Wear Capes, some become undisputed champion for a second time and in Health Over Wealth we "Rest at the end, not in the middle."
Jono was born with a rare genetic condition known as Treacher Collins syndrome, which affects the development of facial bones and tissues. His new book, "Not All Heroes Wear Capes", details his experiences in life living with his condition.
Born with a facial difference that meant he felt he didn't fit in, Jono Lancaster has spent a lifetime practicing self-acceptance. Having been abandoned at birth, his adoptive mum provided immense support and care, but the confidence he felt at home was often chipped away at by the rest of the world. In this chat with Fearne, Jono talks about how severe lows have forced him to take control of his inner narrative, transforming those lows into strength. He also explains why representation of facial differences is so important on TV and in film, and the positive impact it would have on his own sense of self if it wasn't just the villains who have scars, burns, and other differences. CONTENT WARNING: This episode contains frank conversation about suicidal ideation, so do take care while listening. Jono's book, Not All Heroes Wear Capes, is published by Happy Place Books on July 20th, and is available to pre-order now. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
We proudly welcome Jono Lancaster as our first Mind Movers guest. Jono gives a candid account of his journey from being an angry young man living with Treacher Collins syndrome to an international motivational speaker who is about to have his first book published by Penguin. He also talks about the value of connection and community, the role of the inner child, and reflects on the many catalysts that have helped shape him as an inspiration to others. Enjoy! Book: To Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee Film: To Kill A Mockingbird (1962) To Kill a Mockingbird is a novel by the American author Harper Lee. It was published in 1960 and was instantly successful. In the United States, it is widely read in high schools and middle schools. To Kill a Mockingbird has become a classic of modern American literature, winning the Pulitzer Prize. The plot and characters are loosely based on Lee's observations of her family, her neighbors and an event that occurred near her hometown of Monroeville, Alabama, in 1936, when she was ten. Although the novel deals with rape and racial inequality, the book is told with warmth and humour. The 1962 American drama film directed by Robert Mulligan. The screenplay by Horton Foote is based on Harper Lee's 1960 Pulitzer Prize–winning novel of the same name. The film stars Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch and Mary Badham as Scout. It marked the film debut of Robert Duvall, William Windom and Alice Ghostley. It gained overwhelmingly positive reception from both the critics and the public; a box-office success, it earned more than six times its budget. The film won three Academy Awards, including Best Actor for Peck, and was nominated for eight, including Best Picture. In 1995, the film was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Does anyone else feel like it's easy to get thrown around emotionally as a mom? Tina Smith from Raising Kids on Your Knees podcast sat down and explained to us ways to anchor our motherhood in Christ instead. This anchoring includes: prayer, Bible time, mentorship, evaluating if your children have become idols, and remembering that God is faithful and loves your kids more than even you do. She gives great tips on how to let go of some things, and how to better cling to Jesus, the one who has plans for you as well as for your children.

On this week Nadeska, DJ Akademiks and Wayno talk about Metro Boomin's album, "Not All Heroes Wear Capes" and debate whether a rapper's state determines the buzz you get.
