Bill Reinson's dream was to be a Division I Basketball Head coach.  After 10 years as an assistant men's coach at UNC-Greensboro and Longwood, he was named interim and then permanent Head coach for the Longwood women in 2010. He and the Lady Lancers shocked the Big South by advancing to the finals of the tournament in 2013, Longwood's first year as a member.  Reinson was named 2013 Virginia Women's Basketball Coach of the Year by the Richmond Times-Dispatch.  He resigned as head coach in 2018 and moved back to his native Arizona. He now lives in Southside Virginia and is the university's Human Resources Manager.

Can a statue change American history? How do we decide who gets a statue? What happens when you realize how many people deserve a statue but never got one? What's the difference between a “forensic sculpture” for an interpretive exhibition, and one you'd put in a fine art show? Why are some museums just not complete without a bronze statue of the main characters? Are there “statues of limitations”?Ivan Schwartz (Founder and Director of StudioEIS), joins MtM host Jonathan Alger (Managing Partner, C&G Partners) to discuss “Sculpting History.” Along the way: hagiography, phalanges, and ketchup bottles made of bronze. Talking Points:1. What is a “Forensic” Sculpture?2. Sculptor as Visual Storyteller3. How to Sculpt a President4. A Phone Call from the Archives5. Telling History Like It Is6. Joe Biden is the President-Elect of the United States. On Saturday, a batch of results from the swing state of Pennsylvania gave Biden a lead of over 30,000 votes on Trump – which was enough for the race to be called by all of the US networks. Brendan Boyle is a Democratic Member of Congress for Pennsylvania's 2nd Congressional District, and he told Kieran, on Monday's edition of The Hard Shoulder, why he's proud that Pennsylvania was part of making the Biden presidency a reality. Meanwhile, many supporters of Donald Trump still aren’t accepting that the fight for the Presidency is over. Alice Butler-Short, who is the founder of Virginia Women for Trump, also joined Kieran to tell him why she doesn't yet recognise Biden as the next President.

In today’s episode, I’m joined by Karen Cooper, a team leader and coach whose real estate career spans 18 years. She has navigated the real estate rollercoaster, from working as a managing broker, to running a real estate operation that is intentionally not a rainmaker team. After observing the high turnover that these teams have, she decided to create a team with decentralized lead generation, and an environment where agents could grow and build their own personal brands.    Her passion for empowering agents drove her to create a Facebook group and coaching program that helps fellow agents gain a sense of direction and not feel the loneliness and isolation that’s so common in this industry.  She has always put client care at the center of her own real estate business and she took the client care program she developed and adopted the same methods to her coaching.    She has effectively leveraged the freedom this business gives us to create a career and business model that works for us. “There’s many ways to be successful in our business and we wanted to create our own thing.”   Karen Wenner Cooper is a wife, mom to 3 sons, lifelong Lovettsville resident, real estate coach and owner of the Platinum Group Real Estate team at Pearson Smith Realty, a team of 35 phenomenal women and moms, based in Leesburg. Licensed since 2002, she has personally helped over 700 families during her career, and exemplifies what it means to be a real estate professional. A recognized expert, she has been featured on several local, regional and global Podcasts, and been a featured speaker at the Virginia Women’s Business Conference. Passionate about helping women in the real estate industry, she is the founder of Empowering Women in Real Estate, with over 8000 members nationwide.    Real estate is a vehicle for freedom because it offers many paths to success. We don’t have to subscribe to one way of running a business, and we can build and run something we want. When people build a different model and culture, it’s not by accident, there’s intention behind it. Often it’s because we see a better, more valuable and beneficial way to hire, work and earn.   Guest Info   Karen Wenner Cooper is a wife, mom to 3 sons, lifelong Lovettsville resident, real estate coach and owner of the Platinum Group Real Estate team at Pearson Smith Realty, a team of 35 phenomenal women and moms, based in Leesburg. It grew from 22 women meeting in her living room to a “movement” of thousands of women all across the Commonwealth of Virginia and beyond. The “movement” now has affiliated organizations in thirteen other states under the Mothership - Virginia Women for Trump and are striving toward having Directors in all 50 states by the end of this year. On march 6, 2014, Cynthia A. Kierner delivered the banner lecture "We Cannot be Tame Spectators: Four Centuries of Virginia Women's History" From before Jamestown to our own new millennium, women have been central figures in the families and communities of the Old Dominion. In recent decades, historians have also shown that Virginia women—as civic leaders and reformers, genteel ladies and embattled laborers—were also significant historical actors. Join us in commemorating Women's History Month by celebrating the flourishing field of Virginia women's history, and by exploring how what we've learned about women's historical experiences can transform our understanding of Virginia history generally. The content and opinions expressed in these presentations are solely those of the speaker and not necessarily of the Virginia Museum of History & Culture.

Lillian Lincoln Lambert speaks about the power of persistence, resilience, courage and morality in surmounting hurdles. The first African American woman to receive an MBA from Harvard Business School and a successful entrepreneur, she draws upon her experiences, using her personal story to show how to use obstacles and barriers as stepping stones to higher levels of achievement. She encourages her audiences to dream big, act bold and pave their own paths. Businesses benefit from her coaching and go beyond their preconceived limitations to achieve their goals. Born on a farm in the segregated South, she sensed that there was a better life as she journeyed to New York City and Washington, DC to seek her fortune. After a few menial jobs she came to the realization that education was her key to success. At 22, with loans, scholarships and part-time jobs she enrolled in Howard University and got her BA degree. A professor there convinced her that she was Harvard material. In 1969 she earned her MBA and achieved the historical milestone. For 25 years, she was president of a building maintenance company, founded in her garage on a few thousand dollars. The company grew to $20 million in sales with more than 1,200 employees. Her memoir, The Road to Someplace Better: From the Segregated South to Harvard Business School and Beyond was released by John Wiley & Son, Jan 2010.    MOST RECENT AWARDS  Harvard Business School Alumni Achievement Award, its highest honor for alumni, Oct 2003 Enterprising Women Magazine Hall of Fame, magazine’s highest honor, March 2010 Dominion Resources Strong Men Strong Women: Excellence in Leadership Series Honoree, Feb 2011 Library of Virginia, Virginia Women in History Recipient, March 2011
