When 14-year-old Harley Dilly failed to return home on Friday after school, his parents weren't terribly concerned. He was known to spend Friday nights at a friend's house, particularly if he was upset with his parents or his girlfriend. Therefore, his parents did not report him missing that day and instead waited until midnight on Saturday to file a missing person report. By that point, Harley had been away for 40 hours. This is a riveting Bed Crime Story, so grab a drink, find a soft seat, and get ready to head to Port Clinton, Ohio, 2019 with me right now, right here.Love,T#harleydilly #boyinchimney #portclinton #ohio #truecrime #missingboy #harley #missing #lost #lostboy #idaho #moscowidaho #kayleegoncalves #madisonmogen #ethanchapin #xanakernodle #moscowstudentmurders #idahostudentmurders #moscowhomicides #truecrimeunsolved #truecrimeunsolvedSupport the show
The Trump Administration’s attempted federal funding freeze has left many agencies and organizations in Pennsylvania scrambling for information. Welcome to another exciting episode of the Capitalist Investor! In this week's conversation, your favorite co-hosts, Diamond Hands D and Luke Lloyd, dive into a mix of personal updates and prominent economic trends. Below, we've summarized the five hot topics from this episode, where discussions spanned from holiday festivities to the stock market highs, providing keen insights for investors everywhere.1. Holiday Reflections: Thanksgiving and New Year's PlansThe episode kicks off on a lighter note, with Diamond Hands D and Luke Lloyd sharing their Thanksgiving experiences. Luke mentions gaining some holiday weight and gearing up for his honeymoon, setting a warm, relatable tone. They also discuss the upcoming New Year's Eve plans, particularly Luke Lloyd's unique celebration at the Walleye Drop in Port Clinton, Ohio, where a 100-foot glass walleye is dropped to mark the new year. This reflection underscores the balance of personal and professional lives, reminding listeners that even investors take time to celebrate.2. Black Friday and Cyber Monday Sales AnalysisA significant portion of the discussion centers around the record-breaking sales observed during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Luke Lloyd highlights that Black Friday sales hit around $10 billion, marking a 10% increase from the previous year. Similarly, Cyber Monday saw a 7% increase, reaching around $13 billion. Despite these impressive numbers, overall holiday sales are only projected to be 3% higher than last year, mainly due to inflation. This indicates that while spending trends appear robust, the broader economic context is more nuanced.3. Wealth Effect and Market SentimentAnother noteworthy point of discussion is the "wealth effect" and how market sentiment influences consumer behavior. Diamond Hands D and Luke Lloyd observe that positive market trends, such as a booming stock market and rising cryptocurrency values, can boost consumer confidence, leading to increased spending. This phenomenon underscores how psychological factors play a significant role in economic activities, suggesting that investors keep an eye on broader sentiment to gauge market movements.4. The Controversy of Politicians' Stock PortfoliosThe episode also delves into a controversial topic: the impressive stock market returns achieved by politicians, notably Nancy Pelosi. The co-hosts question whether these returns could be attributed to potential insider trading, given that some politicians are outperforming investment icons like Warren Buffett. They mention examples like Nancy Pelosi's substantial gains from call options on Nvidia and discuss how such activities raise ethical and legal questions. The conversation hints at a need for greater scrutiny and possibly regulation in how politicians trade stocks.5. Market Predictions for the Coming MonthsThe episode wraps up with predictions for the market trajectory in early 2025. Luke Lloyd predicts a so-called "Santa Claus rally," where markets may see upward momentum into the holiday season, but advises caution for January. He anticipates that January might witness a decline due to profit-taking and the diminishing post-holiday optimism. This forward-looking analysis helps investors prepare for potential market adjustments early in the year.ConclusionFrom personal anecdotes to in-depth market analysis, this episode of the Capitalist Investor offers a well-rounded discussion on timely topics relevant to both novice and seasoned investors. As always, the hosts encourage listeners to stay informed and engaged, underscoring the podcast's educational mission. Be sure to tune in to the next episode for more insights and updates on the economic landscape.

We've got our favorite doctor on the show today. Lynne Savino shares with us her recent backpacking medical adventure that she was a part of, taking in the Virginia Triple Crown with a group of fellow doctors. Lynne's excitement at merely standing on MacAfee Knob–with virtually zero view–provides us with a touching reminder of how important these special moments are. You can check out the Summer Adventure Camp she refers to in our conversation at https://www.wilderness-adventure.com/ , which she also sent me a link to the rescue gear used in their exercise. https://skedco.com/product/sked-basic-rescue-system-international-orange/ All interesting stuff and the fact that they took in the Virgina Triple Crown over the course of the exercise is an added bonus. Jessica has been braving the rocks of PA and is now largely through the worst of them as she approaches Port Clinton. She is now under 200 miles from her personal Katahdin in Harpers Ferry, which she aims to reach before Christmas. It's been epic. Harvey would be 4 years old when they began in January 2021 and finished at 5 years 4 months old. After thru-hiking the East Coast, they have gone on to backpack the John Muir Trail in California, traveled to the Himalayan Mountains in Nepal to trek to Mt. In this episode, we hear from thru-hiker founder, and soon to be triple-crowner, Cheer, as she continues her 2023 thru-hike on the Appalachian Trail! This episode covers weeks 11 and 12 on the AT through the state of Pennsylvania! Week 11 started in Pine Cove Furnace in Pennsylvania where Cheer enjoyed her best burger on trail so far! Southern Pennsylvania was pretty flat traveling through farmlands and a nice stop at Caffe 101 for lunch! Week 11 ended starting with a rough day on trail where Cheer got lost for a little bit and then took a rest staying at a nice AirBnB in Port Clinton. Week 12 begins in Northern Pennsylvania below the New Jersey border. As rocks got bigger and more prevalent, Cheer decides to pace herself a little reducing miles and taking more breaks. Good weather and views balanced things out. If you want to get the visual on this section, check out Cheer's YouTube, Week 11 and Week 12. Stay tuned for Cheer's week 13 trail update! Planning that annual trip to the Lake Erie shore this summer? Better take another listen before you go...Most of us think of Port Clinton as a summer tourist destination. Indeed, it is. And yet, it's so much more.Few know of the haunted structure that sits on the corner of Madison and Perry Streets. The Island House Hotel is a rumored home for lost spirits, including a famous mobster, sheriff and orphaned immigrant turned proprietor. They make their presence known to staff and guests alike.Come hear the tale of a ghost hunter and founding member of Haunted Toledo. Christopher Tillman shares the story of an investigation of the historic structure. The hotel's staff was eager to welcome his team and share their stories.Beneath the claims of ghost sightings lies Prohibition Era history that deserves a good telling. So sit back, raise a whiskey sour and soak in the knowledge of how it all came to be.If you enjoy this episode, please rate, review and subscribe to Ohio Folklore on your chosen podcast platform. In this episode, we have Jamey Hensley from local favorite The Junk, and JK Razz. Jamey is also the event coordinator for The Gristmill in Port Clinton. One of the podcasts favorite locations to watch local music. We brought Jamey on to discuss his two bands and share some stories from his days playing in the Junk. His favorite moments all along the way and how The Junk got started. We even came clean on some shenanigans that Tony pulled on our first field trip to The Gristmill. We even found out that there actually is room for two Jamey's on the podcast. We know... We were very surprised by this as well. Featured artist Jamey Hensley.
We had such a fantastic time fishing with Captain Mark Cahlik with Mark1 Sportfishing and Bays Edge Resort up on Lake Erie out of Port Clinton, OH a few weeks ago that he invited us back up to have a go at smallmouth bass this time around. What a treat that was! These smallmouth on Lake Erie are no joke. We caught a bunch of chunks that meant business and we had an absolute ball! The same crew got back together- Brittany Howard, Tiffany Minton, myself, and Dana Scott. We all caught a bunch of fish- and not just smallmouth, we landed multiple species including Smallmouth, Walleye, Sheepshead, Perch and Catfish. The majority of the catches however were Smallmouth and Walleye. Captain Mark definitely put us on 'em! Find out how in this episode as we tell all, despite the cliches about Put-in-Bay! Enjoy and stay tuned for some amazing episodes from iCast coming up as that's where I'll be spending my time this week as you're listening to this episode. This week I'm excited to welcome Brittany Howard back to the podcast almost 50 episodes later (if you missed the last one, check it out here!) This time we took a trip up to Lake Erie to cast for walleye with Captain Mark Cahlik from Mark1 Sportfishing in Port Clinton, OH. We stayed at the beautiful Bays Edge Resort where I stayed when I came up for a girls trolling trip in the fall. The accommodations were great as usual. We brought a couple other ladies along and we all had a blast...so much fun in fact we are talking about coming back up in July for smallmouth! The weather Day 1 wasn't the greatest, but we still caught some nice fish. Day 2 totally made up for it. We had an absolute blast and we recap the entire experience on this week's episode! Welcome to this week's episode, all about the "Girls Trip" I went on with Jen Ripple from DUN Magazine and Outdoor Girl Cheryl Smith. It was a whirlwind of a trip, but so incredibly worth it! I drove two hours from Nashville up to Land Between the Lakes to meet up with Jen on an early Monday morning. We loaded up the truck and continued our trek north 8.5 hours to Port Clinton, OH. In retrospect, we wondered why we didn't just fly up, but I'm glad we didn't. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! We arrived at Bay's Edge Resort around 5pm. The first stop was over at the Bait Shop to check in to our luxurious townhome accommodations. While we were there we met acclaimed walleye spinner blade maker Tommy Harris and our Charter Guide Captain Mark Cahlik. Tommy and Mark showed us the fish in the amazing pond right there at the resort. None of us have seen bluegill so big our lives! We went out for a great dinner at a local Mexican restaurant, and after visiting for a bit back at our beautiful townhome, we went to bed early. We had an exciting day of perch and smallmouth fishing ahead on Tuesday! You'll hear all about Day 2 in this episode. An amazing lady named Em fished with us and joined us for this episode. She has a long history in fishing. She used to fish the tournament scene as part of the Bassin' Gals trail. She was so much fun to get to know and fish with! When we got back in we did a little fishing in the pond, recorded this episode, and then went to dinner at a local winery. The food was SO GOOD! Soooo even though I mentioned it in the episode, you don't get to hear about Day 3 where we went trolling for walleye, just yet...BUT stay tuned for a video which will be coming out VERY soon. I'll post it in the episode notes for this show on The Woman Angler & Adventurer website as soon as it is ready! Trust me, it's worth the wait!!! ENJOY!
