Welcome to Episode 63! This week, Nick recounts his time with the 2025 BMW M5 Touring last week, a highly anticipated car that simultaneously blends in and attracts way too much attention from a certain demographic. Meanwhile, Nathan spent some quality time thrashing the 2025 Volkswagen GTI and Golf R on the track. The stick may be gone, but at least VW threw in some new goodies that used to be exclusive to Europe! And finally, they close out this week's episode with this week's press cars: the 2025 Toyota 4Runner, and the 2025.5 Volvo XC90. Enjoy the show? The Volkswagen GTI has been a staple of the affordable but fun roster of cars since its inception almost half a century ago. This hopped-up Rabbit or Golf gave folks an affordable outlet for their gear-wringing fun. Well, halfway through the eighth generation of this legendary nameplate, Volkswagen is moving away from the manual transmission and pivoting to an automatic-only GTI in the United States. Before sending it away, VW launched a special stick-shifted celebration version of the GTI dubbed 380. Powering this 2024 VW GTI 308 is the same 2.0-liter EA888 turbocharged I4 that powers the other GTI variants. This turbocharged 2.0-liter sends 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque through either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic. Of course, in 380 S and 380 SE trim, the stick is the only transmission available. On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek's Patrick Carone climbs behind the wheel of the 2024 VW Golf GTI and puts it through its paces. Carone takes you on a guided walkaround of the last-year stick-shifted Golf GTI and highlights some of his favorite features. Later in the show, Carone takes you on a live drive review of the '24 VW GTI. Adding to these segments, Carone chats with host Wesley Wren about the GTI, the manual transmission disappearing, and more. Closing the show, the pair break down what makes the 2024 Golf GTI special.
It's Episode 33! This week, Nathan and Rush talk twinning trucks—the Chevy Colorado ZR2 and GMC Canyon AT4X, to be exact. Plus, Nathan shares his thoughts on the Chevy Blazer EV, and Nick comes away impressed with the Jetta GLI's value proposition — even though he drove his Miata into the office that day. Here's what we discussed: 2023 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV RS 2024 Polestar 2 2024 Volkswagen GTI 40th Anniversary Edition Enjoy the show? This week, our special guest on America on the Road is Marques McCammon, President of Karma Automotive. Karma is a California-based builder of high-performance electric vehicles whose very interesting plans include the imminent launch of the 1,100-horsepower Kaveya super coupe. Host Jack Nerad conducted an exclusive interview with the company's energetic chief exec, and they discussed the details of the Kaveya plus McCammon's plans to differentiate the American supercar brand from others in the space. The Karma Kaveya certainly appears to be worthy of further scrutiny. Its luscious super-coupe body equipped with butterfly doors is stuffed with four electric motors enabling four-wheel-drive. A 536-horsepower, rear-drive version of the car will be available by the end of 2025. The full-on 1,200-horsepower AWD version will arrive by the conclusion of 2026. As we first reported last week, Hyundai has announced a bold plan to remake virtually everything and change life as we know it during its press turn at CES. While that might seem like an exaggeration, it's really not. And we'll give you the startling details later in this segment. In somewhat less Earth-shattering news, Dodge has announced a new limited edition of its Durango SUV as it begins the phase-out of the HEMI V8. (Say it ain't so, Joe.) Honda wowed CES with some all-new electric vehicle concepts, as we'll have details on those. And not to be outdone, Hyundai also introduced a flying car at CES. We'll bring you the details and our reactions. In our road tests this week, Nerad had the opportunity to put the Ford Bronco Raptor to the test in blizzard conditions in the Midwest. Venturing far from his more weather-friendly home base, AOTR's host reacquainted himself with winter driving techniques at the wheel of the 418-horsepower twin-turbo V-6-equipped Bronco Raptor. At the same time, Co-host Chris Teague put the 2024 Mazda Mazda3 Turbo to the test, battling his own challenging weather conditions in New England. He discovered the 250-horsepower version of Mazda's compact car is a surprisingly good match for well-regarded hot hatches like the Volkswagen GTI. All that and more are coming up in this episode of America on the Road. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, YourTestDriver.com, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com
Sons of Speed Publisher Paul Herrold sits in for Jill this week. Paul and Tom opened the show talking about the discontinued Fiat 500X and related Jeep Renegade small crossovers. Tom asked Paul if he thought Jeep's recent sales decline came—at least in part—as a result of the brand's small, too-conventional crossovers, such as the Renegade, Compass, and Cherokee. Paul talked about four new Sons of Speed videos available for viewing at WeAreMotorDrive.com. The videos feature lap time at Road America race track, and include the Toyota GR Corolla, Volkswagen GTI, BMW M2, and Toyota Supra. Following up on Jill's EV charging issues from a week earlier, Tom shared a tale of similar frustration, including broken Evgo charging units—which were listed as operational on the provider's app—and Electrify America's over-hyped “Super Fast” charging. In the second segment Paul and Tom welcome Ram Communications Manager Trevor Dorchies to the show. Trevor updated the hosts on product in the Ram pipeline, including the redesigned 1500 pickup, the RAM REV electric pickup, and the extended-range plug-in-hybrid Ram Ramcharger. Also discussed is the new, ultra-luxury Ram 1500 Tungsten. In the last segment Paul is subjected to Tom's “Best Mileage” quiz, which includes a surprising Burger King bonus question. The hosts wrapped up the show by discussing why Tom's test vehicle, the 2024 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro, makes Tom want to shoot a water buffalo.

What is Luxury? The boys are back, proving once again that you don't have to be old to be bitter. On their inaugural episode for the Hagerty Podcast Network, automotive journalist Jason Cammisa and Walking Encyclopedia of Automotive Knowledge Derek Tam-Scott discuss different types of luxury cars. Their unexpected conclusion: the best luxury car might be a cheap beat-up car. After all, there is no luxury greater than not having to worry. Or at least, that's the theory. Along the way, the Carmudgeons touch upon the difference between a perfect BMW E30 (like Jason's 325i Touring) and a beater (like Jason's 325i Sedan.) Then, it's off to the Lucid Air, Derek's Mk7.5 Volkswagen GTI, and how sometimes daily-driving a cheap example of an expensive car is possibly the least luxurious way to go. Because nothing is less luxurious than a tow truck. Or is space the final luxury frontier? After all, the Rivian R1T packs more cargo space in it than an AMG SUV. And it can keep up with an R35 Nissan GT-R. The Carmudgeon Show is part of the Hagerty Podcast Network. About the Podcast: The Carmudgeon Show is a comedic, information-filled conversation with Jason Cammisa and Derek Tam-Scott, two car enthusiasts who are curmudgeonly beyond their years. Proving you don't have to be old to be grumpy, they spend each episode talking about what's wrong with various parts of the automotive universe. Despite their best efforts to keep it negative, they usually wind up laughing, happy, and extolling their love for cars. Which just makes them angrier and more bitter. Jason Cammisa is an automotive journalist, social-media figure and TV host with over 250 million views on YouTube alone. Jason's deeply technical understanding, made possible by a lifelong obsession with cars, allows him to fully digest what's going on within an automobile — and then put it into simple terms for others to understand. Also, a Master's Degree in Law trained him to be impossible to argue with. Derek Tam-Scott still tries. He's a young automotive expert with old-man taste in cars, and a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering — which means he knows how to be civil to Jason. Or at least he tries. With a decade and a half's experience buying, selling, driving and brokering classic and exotic cars, he's experienced the world's most iconic cars. And hated most of them.
Ford has just introduced a new low-priced off-road version of the F-150 pickup that is sure to be a hit. And we'll tell you all about it in this episode of America on the Road. The 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler is a rugged, entry-level addition to the Ford truck lineup. Its standard four-wheel-drive is a tipoff to its off-road emphasis. Designed with affordability in mind, it is based on the XL series, and it leverages FX4 content. The F-150 Rattler's list of special mechanicals includes skidplates, special off-road shocks, electronic locking rear differential, and hill descent control. The F-150 Rattler also looks the part of a canyon cruiser with a dual exhaust system, all-terrain tires, and painted 18-inch aluminum wheels. F-150 Rattler badging on the fender vents and rattlesnake-inspired graphics let others know what its intentions are. In the road test segment, Co-Host Chris Teague will offer a very special look at the 2022 Volkswagen GTI. Why is it special? Because the GTI isn't just another press fleet car. Instead, it is Teague's very own just-leased GTI, and he'll give us the lowdown on its pluses and minuses. Does he have buyer's remorse? We'll find out in this episode. Also, in this episode, Host Jack Nerad got the chance to drive the 2022 Toyota Venza as he paid a motoring visit to two of his daughters in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area last weekend. Among other things, the Venza transported Nerad and his daughters to a college baseball game, a barbecue dinner, and a fried chicken lunch. And when he wasn't eating, he was driving the hybrid-powered Venz all over the metroplex. How did it fare? The answer will be clear in this edition. Finally, America on the Road also has a special guest this week. Scott Caplan is co-founder of Everwash, a new company that has devised an interesting and innovative way to keep your car clean. We all wash our cars and don't think much about it but Nerad will talk with Caplan about the ingenious business he has built revolving around car washes. That and more coming in this week's episode of America on the Road.

With winter on its way, many people are asking: what are the benefits of winter tires vs. a set of all-seasons? The popularity of online, no-haggle car services like Carvana, CarMax, and CarSense has grown in recent months, but can you really get a good deal without visiting a car dealership and negotiating on price? We discuss using these services to buy a new or used car, as well as the high cost of replacement key fobs; the benefits of using premium fuel over regular in cars like the Volkswagen GTI and Mazda CX-9; the emergence of sometimes confusing electronic shifters from carmakers like BMW, Volvo, and Genesis; how CR awards points for standard advanced safety features, and if a Mazda6 is a good replacement for a dad who is losing his Acura TL to his teenage drivers. ----------------------------------- Have a question for our experts? Starkt tack! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
The seventh-generation Volkswagen GTI has reached the end of its road, with the eighth-gen model just around the corner. That's a good enough excuse for a long-term test and take one last drive of the outgoing GTI, and whet our appetite for the upcoming new model. Adding to that, there's no better place to test this beloved, hopped-up Golf than the twisting roads of Los Angeles, California. That's why Mark Vaughn joins us on this episode of Quick Spin and guides us through the Mk7 Volkswagen Golf GTI as we tag along for a ride. Vaughn criticizes some of the Golf GTI's interior problems and notes that it's not a true sports car. Instead, he shows us that it's both a workhorse to tackle most of your daily needs with ease as well as a fun-to-drive machine that puts a smile on your face. Vaughn also talks to with Wesley Wren in the studio to explain and elaborate some of his points, and gets to the brass tacks of the quintessential hot hatch.

You know the adage: you should never meet your heroes. Here’s the thing: Derek and Jason have. And it’s worth trying. Each of the boys came up with a list of cars that met their expectations — and a list of cars that didn’t live up to the hype. Here’s the thing: the lists were about the same length. So chances are somewhere around 50/50 that your hero will live up to its reputation. (If you’re a grouchy carmudgeon.)In this episode we talk about the BMW E30 M3 and 325i, the BMW E9 3.0 CSL, 1973 Porsche Carrera RS, the 911 SC, 911 Carrera 3.2, the 993-chassis 911, the E36 M3, Ferrari 330 GTC and 330 GTS, Ferrari 275 GTB, 250 Lusso, 330 GTC, 250 California, 308 GTB / 308 GTS, Ferrari 360, F430, F355, 328, 348, Ferrari 308 GT4 Dino, Mondial, Porsche 959, Ferrari F40, Porsche Carrera GT, Porsche 930 Turbo, Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer, 1939 BMW 328, Jaguar XK120, Jaguar SS100, BMW 850i E31, Nissan Fairlady Z432, Datsun 240Z, Toyota 2000GT, Mazda Cosmo, Honda S600 and S800, Nissan Skyline GT-R Hakosuka, Datsun 2000 Roadster, Lamborghini Miura, first-gen Acura NSX, 2006 Aston V8 Vantage 4.3, Alfa 105 cars including the GTV 1600, GTV 1750, GTV 2000, Giulia GT, Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, Corvette C2 Stingray, AC Cobra, Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, Porsche 356, BMW Z8, Lotus Elise, Bentley R-Type Continental, and of course the hot-hatches: Volkswagen GTI, Peugeot 205 GTI. The Carmudgeon Show is a comedic, information-filled conversation with Jason Cammisa and Derek Tam-Scott, two car enthusiasts who are curmudgeonly beyond their years. Proving you don’t have to be old to be grumpy, they spend each episode talking about what’s wrong with various parts of the automotive universe. Despite their best efforts to keep it negative, they usually wind up laughing, happy, and extolling their love for cars. Which just makes them angrier and more bitter.Jason Cammisa is an automotive journalist, social-media figure, and TV host with over 250 million views on YouTube alone. Jason’s deeply technical understanding, made possible by a lifelong obsession with cars, allows him to fully digest what’s going on within an automobile — and then put it into simple terms for others to understand. Also, a Master’s Degree in Law trained him to be impossible to argue with. Derek Tam-Scott still tries. He’s a young automotive expert with old-man taste in cars, and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering — which means he knows how to be civil to Jason. Or at least he tries. With a decade and a half’s experience buying, selling, driving and brokering classic and exotic cars, he’s experienced the world’s most iconic cars. And hated most of them. Born in India and having grown up in Michigan, Shinoo Mapleton has had an exciting journey within the automotive industry. From sales and marketing to engineering and product development, Shinoo has worked with products dating back to the Pontiac Fiero and early days of 3M clear bra products. He now serves as co-founder and co-owner of InoKinetic & Black Shadow Motors which involves engineering, manufacturing and distributing after market parts for Lotus, while also orchestrating restorations of all makes and models. Shinoo’s a busy guy, but he still makes time for few special car-inspired projects such as a watch box for a STANDARD H favorite watch brand. A few weeks back, I took a drive up to the Black Shadow offices in Temecula, where Shinoo and I chatted about his story. We talk about everything from Led Zeppelin to Volkswagen GTI’s, a race car that he designed that got some heavy press, and the fact that new ideas often keep him up at night. This is a fun one for you car nuts. Show #646 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Tuesday 19th November 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. VOLKSWAGEN CLAIMS ID.3 COST 40% LESS TO BUILD THAN E-GOLF "According to Reuters, Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess told investors this week that the ID.3 costs 40% less to build than the E-Golf. That is an enormous reduction and one of the reasons why Volkswagen says the ID.3 will retail for about the same money as a well equipped Golf Diesel. It is the secret sauce that will allow the company to meet its goal of selling millions of electric cars." so says CleanTechnica: "The ID.3 will start at around €30,000 in Europe. The first edition version with more range and a more powerful motor will go for about €40,000. But Volkswagen has plans for electric cars that will sell for as little as €20,000" https://cleantechnica.com/2019/11/19/volkswagen-claims-id-3-cost-40-less-to-build-than-e-golf/ VW ID.3 1ST COSTS 50,000 EUROS BEFORE OPTIONS ID.3 1ST - Full Comfort Starting price: less than 40,000 € (less state funding) ID.3 1ST Plus - The Stylish Starting price: less than 46,000 € (less state funding) ID.3 1ST Max - High Tech - All In With its premium equipment and state-of-the-art high-tech features, the ID.3 1 ST Max. VOLKSWAGEN EXTENDS PRODUCTION OF ID.3 DRESDEN "Volkswagen will assemble its ID.3 EV at the Gläserne Manufaktur in Dresden in addition to the Zwickau plant. The ID.3 is the first model in the latest generation that Volkswagen is putting on the road under its global electric offensive." according to Green Car Congress: "Following on from Zwickau, Dresden now becomes the second assembly plant in Germany for the ID.3. The first vehicles from the MEB family are scheduled to leave the assembly line in Dresden from fall 2020. The plant could possibly also assemble further models from the ID. family at a later point in time. https://www.volkswagenag.com/en/news/2019/11/the-id-3-to-be-assembled-in-the-glaeserne-manufaktur-in-dresden-.html TESLA BIG BATTERY ADDS NEW CAPACITY "French renewable energy and storage developer Neoen has confirmed that the so-called Tesla big battery at Hornsdale in South Australia will get a 50 per cent lift in capacity, and add new innovations and services that will help pave the way for the state to reach its goal of “net 100 per cent renewables”." according to reneweconomy.com.au: "the battery – officially known as the Hornsdale Power Reserve – will be the first in Australia to provide digital – or “virtual” – inertia to the grid, an important network service previously only delivered only by synchronous machines (coal, gas and hydro). The addition of hundreds of new Tesla Powerpack batteries – at a cost of $71 million – will add 50MW/64.5MWh capacity to the existing facilities of 100MW/129MWh, lifting its capacity by 50 per cent and reinforcing its ranking as the biggest lithium-ion battery in the world. Neoen noted that in its first full year of operation, the battery saved consumers more than $50 million, and these savings would continue to grow once the new addition was in place in 2020. It also earned a profit of $22 million in its first full year of operations." https://reneweconomy.com.au/tesla-big-battery-adds-new-capacity-and-services-on-march-to-100pct-renewables-grid-55121/ ZF DEVELOPS ELECTRIC DRIVE FOR SAILING YACHTS "ZF has developed an electric drive system for sailing yachts. For this purpose, the German supplier is installing an electric motor with a maximum output of 125 kW, which is connected to ZF’s steerable Steerable Pod Propulsion System (SPP)." writes electrive: "With the electric auxiliary drive instead of a diesel engine, the sailing yacht can travel emission- and noise-free when taking off and mooring – and thus also call at ports that remain closed to yachts with conventional drive due to environmental regulations." https://www.electrive.com/2019/11/19/zf-develops-electric-drive-for-sailing-yachts/ TORQEEDO RELEASES NEW PRODUCTS AND ACHIEVES MAJOR MILESTONES Torqeedo will celebrate its 15th year of technology innovations and deliver its 100,000th electric drive for the worldwide marine industry in the coming year. Torqeedo offers a broad product line of outboards, inboards and saildrives ranging from 0.5 to 100 kW with high-capacity lithium batteries and power-management systems. Torqeedo will launch two new motor models in 2020: a new professional-grade Ultralight motor for serious kayak anglers, and a 20-hp equivalent Cruise 10.0 T outboard with tiller steering. Also coming in 2020 are new fast chargers and new solar charge controller for the Power 48-5000 series of lithium batteries. Torqeedo’s high-power Deep Blue system is getting important improvements with quieter-than-ever outboards and seamless integration of joysticks, third-party throttles and wireless controls. https://www.torqeedo.com/en/news-and-press/blog/blog-2019-11-18.html BUGATTI CONSIDERING ELECTRIC FOUR-SEATER AS SECOND MODEL "Bugatti's long-rumored additional model could run on electricity rather than gasoline, according to a recent report. The company is tentatively planning a downward expansion without diluting its image." reports AutoBlog: "The company isn't interested in chasing volume with an alternative to the Volkswagen GTI. Instead, Bloomberg wrote it's envisioning an electric four-seater priced between 500,000 and one million euros, sums that represent about $555,000 and $1.1 million, respectively. Bugatti CEO Stephan Winkelmann told the publication that convincing parent company Volkswagen to fund the model requires a "hard fight," however." https://www.autoblog.com/2019/11/19/bugatti-electric-four-seater-report PORSCHE TAYCAN DELIVERIES ARE DELAYED "A recent post on the Facebook Porsche Taycan Group reveals that the Taycan is now running on an 8- to 10-week delivery delay. A Norwegian reservation holder received an email from the German automaker explaining the situation." says Steven Loveday at InsideEVs: "We've seen multiple EV launches that have proven similar issues. The Audi e-tron has fallen behind numerous times and continues to experience its share of delays. Jaguar has had comparable issues with the I-Pace." https://insideevs.com/news/383171/porsche-taycan-delivery-delay/ QUESTION OF THE WEEK The MYEV.com Question Of The Week… "If you were marketing a for an new EV brand (or Tesla) how would you do it?” I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the 251 patrons of this podcast whose generosity means I get to keep making this show, which aims to entertain and inform thousands of listeners every day about a brighter future. We've completed our testing on the 2020 Subaru Outback, and share the results of this popular crossover. Every year, hundreds of thousands of CR's members take part in our annual reliability survey, answering questions about how well the vehicles they drive every day are holding up, or if they are experiencing issues. We discuss our survey methods, and give advice on making a wise car buying decision. Also, we answer audience questions about why the Toyota Hilux is not available in North America, why some manufacturers seem to have chronic issues with reliability despite using modern production lines, and we recommend a manual commuter car with a balance of driving fun and creature comforts. ----------------------------------- Have a question for our experts? We discuss our survey methods, and give advice on making a wise car buying decision. Also, we answer audience questions about why the Toyota Hilux is not available in North America, why some manufacturers seem to have chronic issues with reliability despite using modern production lines, and we recommend a manual commuter car with a balance of driving fun and creature comforts. ----------------------------------- Have a question for our experts? We're back from a series of winter events, where we got the chance to drive the Honda Passport, Nissan Altima AWD, and Nissan Murano. We also drove the latest Volkswagen GTI, Golf R, and Golf Alltrack on a frozen lake. In the garage are the Mercedes-Benz C 300, BMW M850i, the Volkswagen GTI with a six-speed manual, and the Toyota RAV4 Limited.
The Volkswagen GTI is tons of fun in the twisties, but to get the most out of your local tarmac, consider going with just one letter- R. The all-wheel drive Golf R is about as hot as a hatch can get. The question is, will drivers really use the extra performance? Yeah. It’s that good.
Our 2019 Subaru Ascent is at the track and we talk about the company's re-entry into the three-row SUV segment. Plus, we share stories about our most regrettable car decisions from the past. And as always, we answer your questions on car buying and our dream daily drivers. ---------------------------------- Have a question for our experts? Gears and Beers: The Unashamedly Unprofessional Automotive Podcast
After week off, we are back and with a fancy new intro and outro thanks to Robert Lee, a voice many of you I'm sure will instantly recognise.Matt's away, so this week it's just Mitch, Joseph and Joel. First two news topics this week are about Hyundai releasing pricing for the upcoming i30N, and their genuine pursuit to crack into performance cars and motorsport by acquiring the head of BMW's M and Individual divisions, Thomas Schemera. We think if you're going for a Volkswagen GTi, you should seriously consider the i30N. In fact, it wins our vote.We then discuss the new McLaren Senna, and the $530,000 optional Carbon Themed option design my McLaren Special Operations. We then discuss Holden's concession that their cars have also fallen victim to the Takata airbag recall fiasco. We than do Joseph's interpretation of 'What about this car' and we come across an absolute doozy of a car; a 2007 Mitsubishi Colt Turbo RZ convertible.Joseph then ta
It's true; we bought a new Jeep Wrangler for our test fleet. We share our first impressions and explore why people love the original SUV. We also have a new Hyundai Elantra GT at the track. Can it compete with hot-hatches like the Volkswagen GTI? Plus, we answer viewer questions and celebrate a special anniversary.
In the studio talking about the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, Land Rover Discovery, and an $80,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee that's essentially more expensive than the Discovery. We also banter about minivans as usual, along with some speak about the Honda Civic Si sedan and why it's better than a Volkswagen GTI. Lastly, we touch on why crossovers aren't really a "must-have" for young families - expertise from four unmarried guys with no actual kids.
Ron Erickson is in the process of making a 1987 Volkswagen GTI shell into an AWD Rally Car. He is transplanting the drive train from a Canadian Passat G60 Syncro into the GTI. Ron is not sending it out for any part of the build process. Engine, Transmission, Suspension, Roll Cage, Electronics, Wiring, Body Work, Paint; Ron is doing it all himself, with the help from a few friends now and then. It has been 2 years since he has started this journey, and we are going to follow along for the rest of it. http://www.facebook.com/ProjectSyncro Produced by Kyle Yoest of Yoest Photo Videohttp://www.yoestphotovideo.com Music: RetroFuture Clean by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) & Tomorrow by Bensound (bensound.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
This week we take a bit more of a relaxed approach to podcasting couchside at Chris' house. We dicscuss the reviews of All Cars Go To Heaven, filming with Joe Rogan and his Sharkwerks 911 GT3, Ferrari's moves into turbocharging, Aston Martin's engine collaboration with Mercedes, the basics of Bitcoins, Rally North American, legalized marijuana, and Zack revies the new Volkswagen GTI.
A strong argument can be made that this 2010 Volkswagen GTI burns with the flame of the original GTI, the spark that ignited the hot-hatch explosion and led to cars like the Mazdaspeed 3, Mini Clubman S and Subaru Impreza WRX STI.
This week on the show, Roberto reviews the Kia Soul rental car he had on Kauai last week, Nicole drives the baby Range Rover, the Evoque, and Sam discusses the new eighth-generation Volkswagen GTI.In the news, Chevrolet teased out upcoming hybrid and electric versions of the Corvette and all of GM's Ultium platform EVs are getting a heat pump energy recovery system as standard equipment. Dodge is expanding its lineup with a compact crossover called the Hornet which we'll see in August and Nissan is working on a new ADAS system using Luminar lidar. Finally, a dealer in Colorado has opened a used car store that only sells hybrids and EVs and we answer some questions.LinksElectrified CorvettesGM Ultium Energy Recovery SystemDodge HornetNew Nissan ADAS with lidarColorado dealer that only sells used EVs and hybridsOur Sponsors:* Check out Express VPN: https://expressvpn.com/WHEELBEARINGSAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
