The changes include revised model names, and smaller and larger companions for the maker's existing—and also updated—bZ compact EV. Tom talked about a recently published article which claims that the Tesla Cybertruck is wearing through tires in as little as 7000 miles. Per the article, replacement tires cost around $400 each. Tom also noted an interesting news piece suggesting that German consumers are not open to purchasing Chinese-brand EVs. Both vehicles have been treated to fresh styling and updated infotainment systems. In the second segment Jill and Tom welcome Dan Passe of Passe Consulting to the program. Ford Motor Co. recently showed off the latest iteration of its large Expedition SUV in Louisville.Was the reveal a sign of confidence for the automaker? After all, it gave the company a chance to boast about its high level of domestic production — something important in the wake of a trade war. We chat about that as well as the auto industry overall on this week's episode of the Access Louisville podcast. Let's face it, this event may have just been a good reason for Ford executives to come to Louisville on Derby Week.The new 2025 Ford Expedition is rolling off the line at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville after the company invested $500 million at the facility. The reveal took place on Wednesday, April 30, and included a visit from Ford CEO Jim Farley as our partners at WDRB News reported. He spoke about the auto industry reactions on tariffs as well as the economy as a whole.The price for the new SUV ranges anywhere from $62,000 to $100,000, by the way.  After the automotive talk, we switch gears to talk about the Kentucky Derby. Reporter Michael L. Jones has covered a couple of Kentucky Derby related stories in the run-up to the big event, including a conversation with George Zambelli of the Zambelli fireworks family. Obviously, this was a rough year for the company after a huge flood in April canceled Thunder Over Louisville.“I always wondered what it would be like if there was no Thunder, and unfortunately, we got to see what it was like,” Zambelli told Jones. “It's certainly an economic impact on the city. Ford Motor Company doesn't see the all-new 2025 Ford Expedition as just another big SUV. It has a larger purpose in mind. Expedition Brand Manager Luis Perez told AOTR Host Jack Nerad that Ford wants to influence American families to spend more quality time together. So, they have created a massive vehicle that is full of innovation and capability. Nerad was part of a small cadre of journalists who got early access to the 2025 Expedition and its executives, engineers, and product planners. In this episode, we will share his in-depth interview with Perez, giving you uncommon insight into the creation of the new Expedition and the intriguing features that set it apart from other large SUVs. Our road test segment this week gives you a double dose of Toyota. Co-host Chris Teague was at the wheel of the 2025 Toyota Camry XSE AWD. Toyota has gone all-hybrid with the Camry in this all-new iteration of one of America's most popular vehicles, and Teague will provide his verdict on the result. At the same time Teague was driving the all-new Camry at one end of the country, Jack Nerad was driving the all-new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser at the other. The legendary Toyota Land Cruiser returns after a hiatus in a more compact version that is the original 1958 model that introduced the model to the U.S. Of course, the '58 Land Cruiser didn't sport a hybrid powertrain, a variety of electronic driver assistance technology and a sophisticated infotainment system, but, as they say, the more things stay the same, the more they change. What has stayed the same is the Land Cruiser's stout all-terrain prowess. Pricing for the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser starts with the 1958 trim at a base manufacturer's suggested retail price of $55,950, and that's the model Nerad tested. It features retro-styled round headlights and TOYOTA spelled out on its throwback grille. Cloth seats and the eight-inch touchscreen indicate its modest aspirations and desire to keep the price accessible if you can call $56K accessible. Teague and Nerad will share more thoughts on the model. Car buyers could be hitting a double-whammy this weekend as a couple of factors combine to make buying a new car even harder. The hurricane and the recently settled longshoremen's strike have combined to throw a wrench into car buying. We'll give you strategies that can help you get the best deal you can. Also in the news, hydrogen fuel cell technology is getting a second look, and we'll tell you which major global automaker might put more money into the technology as a solution to battery-electric vehicle's continued issues. In 2007, a man wearing a wig and sunglasses entered a Bell Wireless store on the west side of Cincinnati, OH brandishing a gun. He ordered the patrons to the floor, demanded money from the store manager, and fled with the store's till. A witness across the street allegedly saw the man put on the wig and sunglasses, enter the store and flee a few minutes later in a Ford Expedition. The witness later identified that man as Chris Smith. Soon after the robbery, police found the Ford Expedition, a wig and sunglasses in the vicinity of Chris's residence. Despite DNA test results performed on the wig and sunglasses that pointed to another man, Chris was still convicted of aggravated robbery and sentenced to 26 years in prison. McLaren has just introduced the McLaren GTS, a replacement for the GT, and we have the details. The grand tourer marries supercar performance with everyday practicality. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine boasts 626 horsepower, 14 more than its predecessor, and it's lighter at 3,351 pounds. The result is what McLaren claims is a class-leading power-to-weight ratio of 412 horsepower per ton. Clocking 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds and 0-124 mph in 8.9 seconds, it outpaces the well-regarded GT. Its structure, rooted in McLaren's carbon fiber monocoque chassis, enhances agility and stability. Crafted with recycled carbon fiber components, the GTS boasts a lower center of gravity and intelligent adaptive suspension. The exterior flaunts a more aggressive design, enriched by gloss black finishes and personalization choices like 'Lava Grey' paint and 'Turbine' forged alloy wheels exclusive to the GTS. Inside, upgrades feature softgrain Aniline leather seats. The McLaren GTS is now open for orders, with McLaren promising deliveries in 2024. At the same time, Lexus has introduced a far more approachable car. The 2024 RZ lineup is now headlined by the newly announced RZ 300e, offering a 266-mile range and starting at $56,300. The front-wheel-drive model employs a 72.8kWh battery to feed a drivetrain that generates 201 horsepower. Lexus says it will deliver an EPA-estimated MPGe of 137/112/125 (city/highway/combined). The new RZ model features a rear subframe replacing the electric drive axle of the RZ 450e. The all-wheel-drive RZ 450e utilizes the Lexus DIRECT4 system, balancing torque between its 150-kW front and 80-kW rear eAxle motors. Total system horsepower is 308, and the trim offers a 220-mile range. Also in the news this week, a new study shows that Tesla drivers are the most accident-prone. Tex McIver is a prominent Atlanta Lawyer,  Vice Chair of the State Elections Board, and his wife, Diane, is a beautiful, incredibly successful business woman in her own right.    They are married 11 years, but on a September night, Tex McIver shoots his wife in the back, killing her.  Diane McIver is shot inside a Ford Expedition she is riding in with her husband and a close family friend. They are returning home from their ranch in Putnam County late on Sunday night. Diane is in the front passenger seat, Tex is in the back seat.   Dani Jo Carter is driving the SUV back from the Ranch to the Condo in Buckhead when the interstate traffic gets heavy and she takes an exit into Downtown Atlanta.  McIver tells the police it was a bad area and he asked his wife to hand him his gun. He said it was in the center console up front. Diane McIver hands Tex his gun. McIver says soon they were out of danger and he fell asleep. He wakes up when Dani Jo stops the car and somehow the gun fired.     As friends come to offer condolences on the passing of his wife, most expect to see Tex McIver upset, in shock that he accidentally shot his wife, the love of his life, and caused her death. Instead, they find a man who seems more concerned about money. Within two days of Diane's death, Tex is asking about his wife's Social Security benefits.  Then  Tex McIver seems to be investigating how to liquidate his late wife's assets. Tex McIver organizes many of his wife's possessions to sell at an auction as part of an estate sale. Tex McIver said he was liquidating things to settle his wife's estate.  McIver sold everything he could of his wife's clothing, jewelry, furs, hats, just about everything. The sale lasted several days. It was later revealed that Tex McIver owed his wife nearly $350,000 which she loaned him for a barn he built on the ranch for guests on their estate The Atlanta Police eventually came to the decision to charge Tex McIver with involuntary Manslaughter and reckless conduct in the shooting death of his wife. The charges seem to suggest that they believe Tex McIver's claim that the shooting was an accident.
