We reconnect with Jason's long-time friend, Cyndi Gatterdam, and her husband, Chris Grecco. Cyndi has 20+ years experience in the bourbon industry, currently serving as the District Sales Manager at Republic National Distributing. In classic “Cocktail Confession” fashion, Jason and Yvonne discuss how bourbon has become an integral part of culture, a symbol of identity, and a bridge between generations.  In this episode, we enjoy homemade cocktails by Jason – self-dubbed the “Best At-Home Bartender in Studio City.” The sounds of Jason making another round of drinks, setting glasses on the table, and the creaks of old, wooden floors in a 19th-century colonial home set the scene for a riveting conversation with our two dear friends. So please pull up a chair, pour yourself a glass, and enjoy.  Please visit www.lagralanespirits.org/episodes/cyndichris for shownotes, transcripts, and more.   Links Guests Cyndi Gatterdam - https://www.linkedin.com/in/cyndi-gatterdam-80b04228b Chris Grecco - https://elementmr.com/who-we-are/our-team/chris-grecco/ Republic National Distributing Company - https://www.rndc-usa.com/   Additional links + Special thanks to: WEP - https://weeditpodcasts.com/ Liam E. This episode features an in-person conversation with Xavier Amirault, Owner and Winemaker of Domaine Amirault located in Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil in the Loire Valley. Domaine Amirault's Clos des Quarterons is a 92-acre vineyard and it has been in the Amirault family for six generations. The estate is 100% certified organic by Ecocert and certified biodynamic by Demeter. Xavier was visiting Atlanta for the first time as his wines are new to the state of Georgia thanks to Vineyard Brands and Republic National Distributing Company and Vineyard Brands. The night before we recorded together, we enjoyed a BYOB meal at Canton House on Buford Highway in Atlanta, GA pairing dishes with his wines, and it was so fun to hear his reaction to meeting the Atlanta wine community for the first time. He even had a chance to visit a winery just north of Atlanta during his visit, which he reflects on with such a beautiful realization at the end of the episode. We talk about his methods of farming 58 small plots based on soil diversity, and he also describes how he chooses an aging vessel, whether that is concrete vats, barrels, or amphora, based on soil type and age of the vines. You can visit www.domaineamirault.com/en/domaines/le-clos-des-quarterons and follow @closdesquarterons on Instagram. It's everyone's monthly favorite, the bourbon community roundtable where we invite some of the brightest minds in bourbon media to come on and go deep on some topics. And up first is the story that keeps on giving. Earlier this year Sazerac came out of the gate putting a $38.6M lawsuit in front of Republic National Distributing Company (known as RNDC). Now here we are a few weeks later and we get RNDC's response where they are countersuing for Sazerac's attempts at undermining the three-tier system and claiming over $10M in damages. In the second half of the show we dig into the increase of counterfeit bourbon bottles on the market and these bottles aren't even super rare. We're talking Four Roses Single Barrels and Weller Full Proof. Should distilleries step up and have more tamper-proof seals or is this a buyer beware type of situation? We've said it a million times on the show before, if you want to help combat the spread of these fakes, throw away your bottles by putting sharpie on the label or even go as far as breaking them. Don't be that person selling empties on eBay. Show Notes: Above the Char with Fred Minnick (@fredminnick) talks about single barrel programs. What impact will the Sazerac/RNDC lawsuit have on the bourbon industry? When will we see more anti-counterfeit seals? Who is responsible for preventing counterfeits? @breakingbourbon @fredminnick @drinkseelbachs @bourbonr @sippncorn Support this podcast on Patreon

It's Bourbon Community Roundtable #76 and this is one I'm excited to talk about because as you're well aware, building a brand requires choosing the right distribution partners. The big shake up of the past few weeks is that Sazerac is pulling out of Republic National Distributing Company in favor of smaller, more mid-tier, and beer focused distributors in around 30 different states. So, we want to ask the roundtable a few questions. First, what would motivate Sazerac to break up this long-standing relationship? If you are a distributor that got selected, what problems are you going to experience. And lastly, as a consumer are we going to see any change like finding Pappy on the shelf at MSRP. Spoiler alert... the answer is no. Since it's the first roundtable of 2023, we all put in our predictions and see what the future holds for bourbon this year. Show Notes: Above the Char with Fred Minnick (@fredminnick) talks about dry January. Sazerac is leaving RNDC. What does this mean for Sazerac? Sazerac goes with mid-tier distributors. How do distirbutors adapt and what happens to other brands? Does Sazerac leaving RNDC mean anything for the end consumer? What are your 2023 predictions? @breakingbourbon @fredminnick @drinkseelbachs @bourbonr @sippncorn Support this podcast on Patreon

Tony Burt, Founder and CEO of East Imperial #EISB discusses the distribution agreement they've signed with Republic National Distributing Company, one of the largest distributors in the US operating across 37 states. Highlights Under the terms of the agreement, RNDC will commence distributing to the on-trade and off-trade markets from March 2022 across eight US states; California, Washington, Colorado, Arizona, Maryland, Illinois, Washington DC & Florida. These states have been experiencing rapid growth in demand for premium mixers and represent an opportunity for East Imperial to achieve a step-change in the scale of the business across the US. RNDC already provides distribution for East Imperial's best-selling beverages in California, which has experienced strong sales growth. Following the agreement with RNDC, the US is expected to make up an increasing and significant proportion of East Imperial's revenues. East Imperial is actively seeking a US-based third-party bottling provider in anticipation of the increased demand and to significantly improve the efficiency of operations. This is a strategic priority for the management team. While RNDC's distribution will focus on the on-trade and off-trade market, East Imperial will continue to provide a direct-to-consumer offer in the US through Amazon Marketplace as part of a multi-channel strategy. East Imperial's canned product range became available on Amazon in November last year and has seen strong demand throughout the US. About East Imperial East Imperial, founded in 2012, produces and markets a line of branded premium mixers that sell throughout APAC, US and EMEA. The company was founded on the philosophy of creating products defined by heritage, tradition and authenticity. East Imperial's range utilises authentic African and Asian ingredients, a 1903 East African recipe, and a flavour-enhancing artisan cold filling small batch manufacturing process.
