Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesSinners mastermind Ryan Coogler confirmed that Black Panther 3 is the next film he's working on during Contenders Film: Los Angeles last week, an event put on by Deadline. This is exciting news for us MCU fans, as work on the third Black Panther film has been mostly quiet other than Denzel Washington's confirmed slip up that he is in the movie.A new Star Trek movie is being created under the writing and direction of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the duo behind Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Game Night as well as the recently wrapped Apple film Mayday, starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh. With the last feature film being Star Trek Beyond in 2016, there's been little movement on both the Chris Pine-led series and new takes on the universe, but this new film will move forward unconnected to anything done previously.Glen Powell in The Running Man was a favored first place winner at the box office this weekend, but was ousted by the sleight of hand of Now You See Me: Now You Don't, the third movie in that franchise. Now You See Me racked up a global $75 million opening, while The Running Man limped across the finish line at $28 million. This marks Powell's first big box office miss, when compared to openings for Twisters, Top Gun: Maverick, and Anybody But You, but the action film did have to compete against Predator: Badlands, which is holding strong at the box office still.Nintendo and Illumination have released the first trailer for Super Mario Galaxy, the follow up to 2023's hit The Super Mario Brothers Movie. The film will hit theaters on April 3rd, 2026. The show, which is titled Death Stranding Isolations is expected to debut sometime in 2027.Peacock has decided not to renew Poker Face for a third season. Natasha Lyonne exits as star, but series creator Rian Johnson has begun an effort to shop the show to other broadcasters for a two-season commitment and has cast Peter Dinklage to take over the role of Charlie Cale from Natasha Lyonne.Sony Pictures has picked up the rights to the Chinese doll brand Labubu with the intent to launch a franchise based on the dolls in the near future.Nintendo's live action Legend of Zelda movie has begun production and Nintendo social media accounts posted first look images earlier this week of Link and Zelda, the film's main characters. Considering the number of iconic women that have worked on Ryan Murphy projects, it's shocking Glenn Close hasn't. That's changing with Hulu's All's Fair. “I was intimidated until I started to understand the tone. And once I understood the tone, then it became really fun,” Close told Newsweek's H. Alan Scott. Close plays Dina, a powerful lawyer in an all-female firm that includes actors Kim Kardashian, Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash and Naomi Watts, among others. “To bring all that energy...and all that experience together is bound to create something really unique.” It also created a special bond. “This group of women, they'll be my friends for the rest of my life.” Part of what keeps Close working, beyond immense talent, is that she refuses to repeat herself—“I'm basically up for anything as long as it represents a new exploration.” She'll next be seen in Rian Johnson's Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, offered the same week as All's Fair. “I got two Ryans in the same week. Video: https://bit.ly/3VEvFth Actor icon, movie producer and director, and founder of the famous Sundance Festival, Robert Redford, passed away very recently, at age 89, after 60+ years of amazing professional work in the cinematic industry. In addition to his $1B+ career box office receipts, he won numerous Oscars and other major awards and helped kickstart the careers of many dozens of – then - unknown indie filmmakers like Quentin Taratino, Steve Soderbourgh, Richard Linklater, Rian Johnson and many others, too numerous to list here. Redford practiced a double, contradictory life. While continuing to work within the Hollywood system throughout his career (to finance his indie activities?), Redford also legitimized independent filmmaking for all time and -as much as any one person could- re-shaped how American movies were both made - and the neglected topics they dramatized. In this episode, Anuradha and I initially discuss Mr. Redford's overall career and then we replay a famous past episode of this pod where we discuss the Watergate Scandal – and concurrently – Redford's very first maiden, movie producing effort, “All The President's Men”, which became an unlikely bock office hit and won 4 Oscars. Why was Knives Out written in the first place? How does the film prove Johnson is a master liar, using misdirection to keep audiences guessing until the very last moment? And how did the fallout from Star Wars: The Last Jedi shape the way he wrote this murder mystery in the first place? Most importantly; what does Knives Out really mean beneath the laughs, the sweaters, and Benoit Blanc's legendary accent? Next Superman Film Titled, Ryan Reynolds Finally Admits to His Crimes, and Horror Rules The Box Office!

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesRight after our episode last week, our pal James Gunn dropped big news on Wednesday - the next Superman film written by him will be called Man of Tomorrow. Gunn, David Corneswet, and others involved shared particular artwork by DC Comics President Jim Lee that showed Lex Luthor in a mech suit to make the announcement. In typical Gunn fashion, the DC Studios co-chair has teased this film isn't a direct sequel, but is the next installment in what he calls the “Superman saga.” The film's title is reminiscent of the Milly Alcock led Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which releases next year. In other DC movie news, Weapons director Zach Cregger addressed rumors that have been circulating about his involvement with a Joker and Harley Quinn movie. Cregger called stories about him having written a treatment for the two iconic DC villains “blown out of proportion,” but did indicate that he has a couple of films he's interested in working on, though he hasn't spoken with James Gunn yet.At the Toronto International Film Festival last Friday, Ryan Reynolds finally admitted the internet's worst kept secret - that he was the one who leaked the original Deadpool test footage in 2014 to the world wide web. Reynolds went on to say that Fox simply didn't seem interested in releasing an R-rated superhero movie and his passion for the character led him to the extreme action, which he doesn't regret. Fans of Deadpool are likely forever grateful that Reynolds did what he did, which led to pressure on the studio to make the film a reality. In other questionable swings from stars both in front of and behind the camera, The Russos released a blurry image with the caption #Doomsday Is Coming via Instagram earlier today. No last rites are being read for horror at the box office this year, as the supposed final installment in the Conjuring universe, The Conjuring: Last Rites, raked in $84 million domestically this weekend for its opening. This massive box office marks the best for this franchise ever, and the third biggest opening for a horror film of all-time. Warner Brothers and New Line are laughing all the way to the bank, having projected a $35 million opening box office and the movie cost about $55 million to make. The film's global take as of today is $194 million. In other Conjuring news, a series in development at HBO Max set in the universe took a big step forward today, hiring Nancy Won as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, who will write the series alongside Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires. The Office spin off The Paper, which debuted its first season last week has been renewed for a second season on Peacock.Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for Nia DaCosta's “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple," the follow up to this year's 28 Years Later. The film is set to release on January 16.Prime Video has confirmed rumors that Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner will play Lara Croft in its Tomb Raider series from creator, writer and co-showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Production on the series will begin in January.John C. McGinley has joined the cast of ABC's Scrubs reboot and will reprise his role as Dr. Perry Cox from the original series. He joins fellow returnees Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison and Judy Reyes in the cast. The White Lotus creator Mike White and HBO have zeroed in on France as the location for the upcoming fourth season of the hit murder mystery comedy-drama series, sources tell Deadline. Two time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou has joined the cast of Amazon MGM's reboot of Highlander, the Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. The first trailer for Rian Johnson's upcoming Knives Out film Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man has been released. The film is set for release in select theaters Nov. 26 before its streaming debut December 12.

Tune in as Brett Salter (Irish Salt) rejoins the podcast for a review and recap of Looper, the 2012 sci-fi thriller about a hitman who has to contend with messy timey-wimey mechanics, crime syndicate enemies, and a mission in which he needs to kill a future version of himself that's been sent back to his present-day world. The ways in which the messiness of time travel does and doesn't work for Looper, its penchant for stuffing women into maternal stereotyping, and wondering if Rian Johnson fully understands his own sci-fi rules pop up as a few of the talking points for this episode.Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Looper stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Pierce Gagnon, Noah Segan, Jeff Daniels, Paul Dano, Garret Dillahunt, Piper Perabo, Xu Qing, Tracie Thoms, and Frank Brennan.Spoilers start at 28:55LOOPER: Director Rian Johnson Talks Plot Holes and Burning QuestionsCreate your podcast today! #madeonzencastrHere's how you can learn more about Palestine and IsraelHere's how you can keep up-to-date on this genocideHere's how you can send eSIM cards to Palestinians in order to help them stay connected onlineGood Word:• Brett: Angoleth's Heir by Meagan Poetschlag, whose Instagram is @angolethbooks• Arthur: Exiles by Mason CoileReach out at email2centscritic@yahoo.com if you want to recommend things to watch and read, share anecdotes, or just say hello!Be sure to subscribe, rate, and review on iTunes or any of your preferred podcasting platforms!Follow Arthur on Twitter, Goodpods, StoryGraph, Letterboxd, and TikTok: @arthur_ant18Follow Arthur on Bluesky: @arthur-ant18Follow the podcast on Twitter: @two_centscriticFollow the podcast on Instagram: @twocentscriticpodFollow Arthur on GoodreadsCheck out 2 Cents Critic Linktree

A few months back, Rian Johnson said he hopes the next Knives Out movie is in theaters for as long as possible. Netflix released that number this week and it probably is not what Johnson was hoping for. The Long Walk comes out this month and they have a real cool marketing idea. It is too bad that it is a little too much for public consumption.Your Host has one of those guilty pleasure premises that is impossible to resist. Four friends go to sleep (not by choice) and wake up to find themselves chained to a wall. A mysterious person stands in front of them and lets them know they are about to play a game for their lives. What follows is a series of deadly challenges in which it becomes clear there can only be one winner. There is not much more to it than that. It gets gory, eyes get stabbed, people die. And then after about an hour of this, Your Host decides it is time to deliver a message. And it is not just any old statement. They tackle one of the biggies. It is one of the clumsiest and most confusing things we have seen this year.Until Dawn is an awesome video game. It is scary, engaging, and most importantly, fun. We have been interested in seeing the adaptation. And unlike a lot of other gamers, we were not turned away from the fact it tells an original story. If anything, that makes it even more attractive. When we say “original story”, we do not mean it does things never done before. As a matter of fact, one of the things Until Dawn does is play with familiar horror tropes. It is a mixed bag that does a lot more right than wrong. Great kills, but not the best writing, for example. The end result is a flawed movie that is a lot of fun. Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. Joining us in the base this week is Spencer Jawitz of the Virtual Cantina Network! Rian Johnson would be the happiest person in the world to come back and make a new Star Wars movie, but will he? In other Ryan news, Ryan Reynolds apparently pitched an R-rated Star Wars idea to Lucasfilm. We give our thoughts on that and more, including wondering whether the reason for the season, George Lucas, will appear in person at Star Wars Celebration 2027. We also talk to Spencer about how he became a Star Wars fan and what he's working on with the Virtual Cantina Network and his upcoming Boonta Eve party at Rebel Scum Con! Please checkout our new site trbpodcasts.com for easy access to our podcasts and our brand new merch shop!
