G and John chat about one King's greatest, but also darkest works. The two chronicle the doomed lives of the Creed family that just wanted a nice little life in a sleepy Maine town, but were doomed by a busy road and a cursed burial ground a few miles away. The two dig into the tough to handle but true lesson that King imparts to his readers; Sometimes Dead is Better. This book certainly isn't for the faint of heart, but The King and Cold Ones Crew agree, it's one of the writer's finest and most haunting works to date. So if you're interested, pull up a chair, grab a cold one from Jud's ice bucket and enjoy this chat on King's classic novel.

Y rematamos con “Kids Vs Aliens”, donde unos chavitos tienen que defenderse no solo de el bully local que se anda ligando a la hermana de uno de los protas, sino de unos recien llegados de el expacio exterior que literalmente van detras de sus pieles. "Horror Business...ONE TWO!" -Jerry OnlyChris and Matt have joked about this live introduction to Horror Business by Jerry Only for years, and they quote it at every inappropriate moment conceivable. It's what they do. Let's face it, you can't always make it to see a band play live for any number of reasons. Sometimes the band doesn't tour anywhere near you. Sometimes the band broke up years ago. Sometimes you have to work that night. Or? Sometimes your ride wants to go home to watch Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve...While it isn't the same as being there (and that's not always a bad thing...do you really want to be a convicted felon to see Johnny Cash play live?), that's where live albums scratch that itch. Come join Chris and Matt as they give you the stories and details behind their favorite live albums.Thank you for listening, and we hope you enjoy this episode!

“The soil of a man’s heart is stonier; a man grows what he can and tends it.” Jud Crandall - Stephen King’s Pet Sematary Growing up like most kids in the 80s and 90s, I had an obsession with Stephen King. In the famous words of Jud Crandall, "Sometimes... dead is better." Remakes have been looming over the horror community for a long time, and it doesn't get as controversial as Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer's "Pet Sematary." The tenuous reboot of the 1989 classic and second adaptation of Stephen King's hit novel, "Pet Sematary" has leaven fans as divided as the family it portrays. In this episode, Barnabas and Samael review the film and aim to answer the question: is dead in fact better? Heading into the remake of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary for a release the first week of April, we had to discuss the story that has scared millions (literally). One of us watched the film for the first time. The other hadn’t seen Pet Sematary in years. Neither Mike could have foreseen how much fun we’d have studying & talking about one of Stephen King’s biggest box office hits. Watch both the 1989 film & the accompanying making-of documentary both on Amazon Prime, & get ready for the Jason Clarke, John Lithgow, & Amy Seimetz led remake right here with us. So let’s get this straight right off the bat. We enjoyed watching Pet Sematary. But as we make clear early in this episode, our review lands on the fact that this is a great bad film. If you’ve been with us throughout our coverage of the horror genre, especially during the Oscar “off-seasons,” if such a thing even exists, then you know we can have too much fun talking about non-awards movies. On the flip side, you also know we won’t hesitate to campaign for our favorite horror films & performances into the Oscar conversation. Get Out was our hope for Best Picture in our first year on the show. Hereditary’s Toni Collette was our Best Actress last year, and horror movie reviews are a constant for our show. Our track record for film appreciation in the horror genre is all over our catalog, & we enjoy talking films of all kinds and critical profiles. We’ve reviewed the entire Halloween franchise, the Conjuring Universe, both Suspiria’s, American Psycho, Overlord, & many others. Since we’re psyched to see the new Pet Sematary, we knew the 1989 retrospective was gonna be a must, and this recording experience did not disappoint. The episode follows our normal movie review format that we use for Oscar Sprint Profiles, Movie Events, & Retrospectives alike. There’s a non-spoiler section including a production profile filled with cast & crew filmographies, movie specs & all the numbers, and behind the scenes making-of commentary before we offer a non-spoiler overviews of the production values, performances, & script. Then we give you some spoiler warning dance music & dive deep into the plot of the film including all our bests & worsts, an analysis of the themes, & our final grades. As always, let us know your thoughts. We’re @MMandOscar on Twitter, and we are on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail. You can subscribe / rate / review / like / share / & listen to us on iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Google Play, Tune In, Spotify, and just about wherever you listen to podcasts. When reality sucks, keep watching movies with us. We’re Mike, Mike, & Oscar!

Not to mention truck drivers singing Ramones, Fred Gwynne being rad, and sacred Indian burial grounds... Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/HorrorMovieSurvivalGuide)
