Suppressors aren't just a gear choice anymore, they're the center of one of the biggest shifts we've seen in the gun world in years. In this episode, we sit down with Brandon Maddox, CEO of Silencer Central, to unpack everything that's changed since the $200 tax stamp went away and what it really means for shooters, builders, and dealers. We talk straight about how Silencer Central scaled from booths at gun shows to being a national name, what people still get wrong about Form 4s, and how the market's now flooded with suppressors that probably shouldn't be on rifles. From titanium vs welded cans to direct thread vs QD, it's a no-fluff breakdown of what works, what doesn't, and what's coming next. Brandon also pulls back the curtain on the behind-the-scenes drama, from legislative backlash to what actually moves the needle for 2A rights. If you've got a suppressor, sell them, or want one, this episode's a must. Real talk, hard questions, and insight that goes beyond marketing brochures.
We're wondering about the Savage suppressors coming out... and how long it might take Ruger and other rifle makers to get on that bandwagon. We'll see, no doubt. And, have you ever wondered how much it might cost to get started in reloading? We'll talk about that...All this and more in tonight's show. We hope you'll tune in. :)

Double Tap Episode 441 This episode of Double Tap is brought to you by: Blue Alpha, Midwest Industries, Gideon Optics, Primary Arms, Die Free Co., and Mitchell Defense Welcome to Double Tap, episode 441! Your hosts tonight are Jeremy Pozderac, Aaron Krieger, Nick Lynch, and me Shawn Herrin, welcome to the show! Text Dear WLS or Reviews +1 743 500 2171 - Dear WLS ThreeRaccoons InnaTrenchCoat - What programs do Shawn, Nick and Savage use for 3D modeling? Are they subscription based or free? I would like to dive into 3D modeling but don't really want to pay a subscription. A one-time fee would be okay i suppose. Tuul Steele - "I was thinking Hard the other day about that long, cylindrical reciprocating part of an Assault Railer - 15 and it got me curious (bi-curious) about steel selection for a BCG. YES, I know all steel is not created equally Jeremy, but in the case of the BCG which does the cast recommend and which is just more expensive for no reason. Not talking coatings, although you can add that to the pot, I am mainly referring to the materials; Carpenter 158 aka "The Thing", 9310 aka "The Beverly Hills BCG", or S7 Tool Steel aka "The Audi Tool". Love the show and the cast. You guys are keeping me topside on long days. Keep up the good work. Also just buy Aaron a huffy with a baseball card in the spokes and call it a day. Toss in a bottle of Malort for the basket on the handle bars. #WLSisLife #shootstraight" Plow Guy Dave - What do you think will be the cool, new trend at SHOT Show this year? Do you think that there will be an influx of NFA stuff like SBR's, SBS's and suppressors since the One Big Beautiful Bill will be active? I know you guys don't go to SHOT anymore, but what would you like to see come out? John B - So I was listening to the AR-15 podcast and Dauly keeps saying you need to buy mags in “generational wealth” volume. What is it that you guys think is the appropriate number of mags to have for your rifle and pistol? Do I really need to have 10 mags minimum? Gus Gus - Hello people and Aaron, What one thing do you each think we do or use or teach in the firearms space that we will one day look back on and say “wow, I can't believe we let that happen” (besides letting Aaron speak). Could be anything from gear to training to lawfare practices. For myself, I think open emitter red dots on concealed carry guns will be looked at as weird and genX level fuddery and anyone who uses one will always feel like explaining it away like Jeremy does with iron sights. Thanks guys and Aaron Unfit for Human Consumption - What software would you recommend for tracking a gun collection? I have (only) a few dozen guns, and have been using "NMCollector" since about 2005, and it meets my needs. It is now $15/year which is very reasonable, and a "lifetime" activation is less than 85-bucks. A quick search on the interwebs for alternatives reveals "ArmoryBook" which is $200/yr for up to 50 records, and "GunTrack" which is $100/yr for up to 100 records; both are way over budget for my needs. Are there other softwares I'm not aware of that you'd recommend? I don't keep pictures generally, and all I really need to track is make, model, caliber, description, year & country of manufacture, source, cost, appraised value, etc for insurance records and for my wife to cash in on this "401(G)uns" fund when I'm gone (hopefully not for several decades). Or should I just create an Excel spreadsheet? Sunshine Shooter - Forced Reset triggers seem to be a commercially available thing now, but I'm having trouble keeping track of what is out there. What forced reset triggers/super safeties do you recommend I look into getting for a poor man's MP5 I'm planning on putting together? Matthew P - Just bought a 5 inch VFM-9 from Foxtrot Mike. What accessories would you add to this if you are going to keep it as a backpack gun? Suppressor? Flip up sights and/or red dot/prism? sling? anything else? The winner of this week's swag pack is Gus Gus! To win your own, go to welikeshooting.com/dashboard and submit a question! On this episode we're joined by Brandon Maddox, the CEO of Silencer Central to fully explain shotgun suppressors. The crew spent a full day testing the new product and then discussing its performance. We worried if the unit would cause line of site issues for a duck/dove hunter. Would it swing as smoothly? Was it heavy? We discuss what will this mean for turkey hunters and kids learning to shoot. We also discussed trusts, the future of suppressors plus the removal of the tax stamp starting in 2026, saving everyone $200. It's a new day in time in terms of suppression and you can learn about it here. Listen, Learn and Enjoy. Send a text message to the show! What happens when common-sense hearing protection collides with outdated laws and misinformation? Suppressors have quietly become one of the most misunderstood and transformative tools in modern hunting, and this week Fred sits down from NASC with Knox Williams, President of the American Suppressor Association and Brent Miller to unpack what the removal of the federal suppressor tax means for hunters, recreational shooters, and the broader outdoors community. This is an insider conversation that goes far beyond politics. We explore why suppressors are best understood as hearing protection, not tactical accessories—and why waterfowl hunters, elk hunters, whitetail hunters, and upland bird hunters alike are adopting them in record numbers. From maintaining auditory situational awareness in the field to protecting hunting dogs and introducing kids and new shooters to firearms responsibly, suppressors fundamentally change the shooting experience. The discussion also tackles common myths head-on: poaching concerns, safety misconceptions, and Hollywood-driven narratives that don't hold up under real-world data. Drawing on decades of advocacy, field experience, and sound-measurement research, our guests explain how suppressors improve hunter safety, reduce noise conflicts with neighbors, and make participation in hunting and the shooting sports more accessible, especially in fragmented landscapes common across the East and Midwest. Listeners will also gain insight into how hunting culture is evolving, why suppressors are widely accepted in Europe, and what legal challenges could mean for the future of firearms regulation in the United States. Whether you're a seasoned hunter or just getting started, this episode offers a clear-eyed look at where tradition, technology, and conservation-minded hunting intersect. In this episode of the Long Range Shooting and Custom Rifle Building Podcast, Jamie Dodson kicks off another installment of the Because You Asked series—this one titled "One More Question." If you've ever called a gunsmith with "just one quick question," you already know how it goes… one more question turns into another—and another. In this episode, Jamie tackles two of the most common (and most misunderstood) issues shooters run into, especially when suppressors enter the mix. Why a suppressor sometimes won't thread all the way onto the barrel Carbon buildup, thread length differences, and how to fix it safely Suppressor alignment, bore rods, and how subtle misalignment kills accuracy Velocity increases from suppressors and barrel break-in—and how that wrecks your dope Why factory rifles often struggle with suppressed accuracy Point-of-impact shifts, re-zeroing, and when problems are "normal" vs. a red flag Jamie also shares a real customer story from a failed hunt, explains how compounding unknowns can spiral fast, and gives you a practical checklist to troubleshoot suppressed rifles with confidence. The episode wraps with important updates on: The Because You Asked video series The Prosumer Gunsmithing School and upcoming in-person training Moving content to Rumble due to repeated YouTube strikes Wolf Precision's return to SHOT Show 2026 and the Great American Outdoor Show The future of the ACE system, pre-fit barrels, and prosumer-level rifle building If you've ever wondered why your rifle suddenly started shooting high, why your suppressor feels "wrong," or what you should be checking before blaming your scope—this episode is for you. 3D printed suppressors are one of the largest and fastest-growing applications in 3D printing. Our colleague Scott Dunham first wrote a report on suppressors in 2017, before the boom, and we released another in 2024. But why exactly are suppressors in demand? And how does one make a good suppressor? To answer that, we spoke with Sean Bernstein, a former US Special Forces soldier with over 12 years of service in the Marine Corps. We talk about his remarkable journey to mastering CNC and 3D Printing. We learn a lot about suppressor design and what is important about suppressors. His company, Irregular Design Group, is using OneClick 3D printers to make an outstanding suppressor, and the future looks bright. This episode of the 3DPOD is sponsored by EOS, a leading global partner for industrial 3D printing solutions in both metal and polymer. With decades of additive manufacturing expertise, technologies and partnerships, EOS empowers customers to innovate, differentiate and shape the future of manufacturing.

In this episode, Josh Dahlke breaks down one of the most unique rifle suppressors to hit the market: the brand-new AC30 B.O.B. from Savage. Unlike traditional muzzle-mounted suppressors, the AC30 B.O.B. (Back-Over-Barrel) partially encloses the barrel—creating added internal volume, improving balance, and delivering impressive sound suppression without stacking unnecessary length onto your rifle. Josh dives into what makes this design different, why it matters for hunters, and how a suppressor like B.O.B. can elevate your shooting experience in the field. Double Tap Episode 436 This episode of Double Tap is brought to you by: Midwest Industries, Gideon Optics, Medical Gear Outfitters, Blue Alpha, and Die Free Co. Welcome to Double Tap, episode 436! Your hosts tonight are Jeremy Pozderac, Aaron Krieger, Nick Lynch, and me Shawn Herrin, welcome to the show! - Dear WLS Dragon Arcadia - In WLS Episode 617, Dungeon Daddies, at 38 min 41 sec on Rumble, Aaron begins talking about how much he hated the steel-frame Canik because it was too heavy. “It literally weighed over 10.17 pounds.” Shawn says that it weighs just under 3 pounds, so about the same as a 2011. Aaron says there's no way, and he's going to look up the weights to prove himself right. Shawn moves on and says they'll get back to that after Aaron looks it up, but it never gets brought up again. I have an unrelated question for Aaron. How much does a steel-frame Canik weigh compared to a Staccato? Thanks guys! P.S. While looking through Rumble to find the episode, I kept getting ads for the ROTO 12 Compact Shotgun. Please look it up; I really want to see your reactions to this thing. Shane H - I am a 07/02 FFL - Aero Precision used to be my go-to place for budget friendly parts with good quality. However, over the past year they have been impossible to deal with. They have made some changes and it's like I have to beg them to take my money. They also never answer emails or calls... Who would you recommend for AR-15 parts? Mainly looking for Uppers, Lowers, and Handguards... Thanks in advance Ray G - What's up bitches. What are your opinions on the Foxtrot Mike “Mike 45”? I have a Mat9 currently for a PCC and I love it! So I figured if I have a 9mm I better get a 45 so it has a friend. I know they are currently out of stock at the time of writing this but wanted to get a feel on what you guys thought. If you suggested the Mike45, what barrel length? Suppressor? Or I should go a different route totally. Thanks for answering my question. P.S. Fuck Aaron Duran84 - I want to get into thermals, My budget is 2k. I have a Rix tourer night vision that sparked my interest in night hunting. My only complaint is scanning with the optic on the gun is tiresome. Should I get a monocular or a scope, so it could be dual purpose with a QD mount? What are some recommendations that the crew has thanks. Standard Arms - Show is great. Thank you for serving our community. I am small kitchen table FFL. It's been a great ride, with a healthy dose of fear! I am thinking about a laser engraver. I would want to it to be capable of properly marking firearms if I need to. ( the ATF spec of .003 inch depth I believe). If I'm investing in a laser engraver I'd use it to put my logo on stuff like magazines, key chains etc. This would probably be something that I would look at in a year and wonder why the F did I buy this thing. That being said I'd really like to spend as little as possible. Thanks. Zac C - A- Aron, My gun shop shouldn't charge for transfers Shawn, Aaron, your being retardedAlso Shawn, This company that came up with a great idea to put airline policies on a QR code and sell them for $30 should do it for free cause it's a sErViCe tO ThE CoMmunITy That is all. ARDREW479 Your Mom - Let's talk about pistol recoil springs and how they impact reliability. I recently added a Radian Afterburner + Ramjet to my Glock 19X and also swapped in the Radian Compressor adjustable guide rod. The Compressor includes 13, 15, and 18lbs springs. I started with the 18lbs spring and it functions properly with both 115 and 124s. Would swapping to the lighter weight spring provide any value? Is it better to stick with the heavy spring? Thoughts? Dependable Don - I was relistening to crawler Carl and heard the ai mention hucow fiction. I looked it up and I'm scared. What are your opinions on hucow? The winner of this week's swag pack is Ray G!
Steve Gruber welcomes Knox Williams, Executive Director of the American Suppressor Association, to break down why hunting season is the perfect time to talk about real hearing protection. As firearm seasons open across the country, Knox explains how suppressors are not Hollywood silencers; they're essential safety tools that dramatically reduce the dangerous noise levels hunters face every time they pull the trigger. They discuss the science, the safety benefits, ongoing misconceptions, and how suppressors can protect hunters, kids, and future generations from lifelong hearing damage. With hunting season underway, Knox lays out why more states, and more hunters, are embracing suppressor technology as a smart, responsible step forward.
Steve Dulan, professor, attorney, and Second Amendment expert, joins The Steve Gruber Show to break down the latest developments shaking up the firearms community. A new Form 4 proposal could allow for silencers with a $0 transfer tax, marking a major shift in federal firearms regulation. Dulan also discusses the high-profile lawsuit by the NRA, Gun Owners of America, and Firearms Policy Coalition seeking to dismantle parts of the National Firearms Act, arguing that current restrictions violate constitutional rights.

Silencer Shop founder, Dave Matheny, breaks down their lawsuit against the ATF and the current state of suppressor regulations. The lawsuit challenges the constitutionality of keeping suppressors, short-barreled rifles (SBRs), short-barreled shotguns (SBSs), and Any Other Weapons (AOWs) under the National Firearms Act (NFA). The aim is to eliminate outdated, costly, and restrictive regulations that encumber lawful gun owners, with support drawn from historical precedent and recent legislative momentum around H.R.1, the “Big Beautiful Bill”.As always, we want to hear your feedback! BHA's Podcast and Blast is proud to be sponsored by Silencer Central, the nation's largest clearinghouse for silencers. Motto: “Silencers Made Simple since 2005.” This episode features Brandon Maddox of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, who founded Silencer Central 20 years ago from his home. He saw both the growing demand for silencers and the difficulty of navigating federal regulations. Today, Silencer Central handles it all—from expert guidance on the right fit to a step-by-step process (simple enough for even Hal, a self-proclaimed Luddite) that delivers a silencer directly to your door. Brandon is a long-range precision rifle shooter and an advocate for conservation, public lands and America's hunting and shooting heritage. Join us to hear from a businessman and conservationist, and get your questions answered about suppressors—and how they can improve your shooting and make it easier to introduce newcomers to hunting. And our deepest thanks to Silencer Central for supporting this podcast and all of BHA's work on behalf of our wild public lands, waters and wildlife.
