Twenty years ago, Cali White left a corporate career and followed a calling to the healing path. There, rector Marjaana Härkönen talks about the connection between spirit and the sauna – ‘löyly' – and what to drink while you're busy connecting.Now look, we know people banging on about saunas can be as annoying as people banging on about ice baths (hey – we've got an episode on that, too!), but when integrative wellness professor Marc Cohen told us the full gamut of what these sweat boxes can do for our meat vessels, we were genuinely surprised.Always one to look at the worst-case scenario, Jenny recounts the grizzly deaths that occurred at the 2010 World Sauna Championships, and in sweat lodges such as that of one-time Oprah mascot James Arthur Ray. But surely she can see the logic in preparing for the worst (her favourite thing to do) by engaging in hormesis – the act of adapting to stress, such as extreme heat, and thus better preparing for future stresses. Frank's a lucky fella. He works at Peninsula Hot Springs, so he gets to have a sneaky sauna and ice bath combo every day. Rahelio Rodriguez has been in Sedona over the past 28 years arriving on the summer solstice of 1987. It was a very exciting time to be in Sedona, especially because of the Harmonic Convergence gatherings as related to the prophecies from the Toltec lord Quetzalcoatl for August of that year. By 1988 he began working as a Sacred Earth vortex tour guide and eventually started his own company in 1990, Sedona Nature Excursions, with his specialty Mystic Tours. During the 1990's he worked with many people very eager to experience the energy of the Sedona red rock country and its famous vortex energies. And this gave him the opportunity to develop his own unique way of teaching and sharing shamanic wisdom and healing methods while out in the beauty of the sacred landscape of Sedona.Rohelio's approach combines wisdom teachings from eastern Yogic traditions, Taoist wisdom, Christian mysticism, and Native American shamanism. He was especially drawn to the teachings of Toltec wisdom that has come out of Mexico and to the practice of Kriya yoga through Babaji's lineage. Since he was already very deep into the practice of western astrology, he was able to merge this perspective into the teachings of the Medicine Wheel as taught to him by Sun Bear. Regarding his Indian ancestry, it comes from Mexico; although he was born in the Midwest of the United States, where he grew up, Rahelio recognizes himself as an American-born Toltec. His awakening to the shamanic path was preceded by a number of mystical experiences he had at the beginning of his teenage years that jolted his reality. And these experiences continued throughout my life, where he had profound encounters with Spirit Powers and intelligence from alternate realities. At the age of 21, he was telepathically contacted by his ascended Master teacher, that began his conscious journey onto the spiritual path. Back in the late 70s, when he attended the College of Marin in northern California, Rahelio was involved as head of a Native American student organization that worked for public awareness of the issues of Native American political rights, land disputes, etc. At that time, this opened his eyes to the struggles of indigenous peoples throughout the Americas and the world. Later while living in Maui, Hawaii, Rahelio pursued spiritual and metaphysical studies and had experiences that facilitated his becoming a professional astrologer and mystic. Since he was working as a spiritual guide, astrologer, and healer, Rahelio was invited to be ordained as a minister into the Order of Melchizedek on Bell Rock in 1988 by the Reverend Dan Chesbro. Matt is a multimedia artist, musician, inventor and sculptor.  He was a founding member of the dark ambient band Lab Report that included such diverse musicians as Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Lydia Lunch and Chris Connelly.  Schultz also invented the A.T.G. or Anti Tank Guitar and utilized this instrument with the Lab Report and Pigface.  In total, Schultz has appeared on over 29 cds with 9 solo productions and 2 feature film soundtracks (Ivan's XTC and Snuffmovie) for Hollywood director Bernard Rose.   In 2010, Schultz manifested the esoteric and ancient fraternal order of The Division which reconstructed ancient spells and rituals reinterpreted aurally.  Mantras is the first in a trilogy of discs that express all aspects of The Division.   Matt's latest release is Mandalas.  This album contains binaurual beats and tones to aid in meditation and dream states. Matt has also spent time in Peru working at an Ayahuasca healing center as a facilitator.  He has worked extensively with Lakota and Mayan Elders for over 15 years and is a water pourer for sweat lodges.  He continues to be involved in indigenous medicine ceremonies of many varieties.
