Nothing Like the Sun, or as it is written on the album, "...Nothing Like the Sun," is the second solo studio album by former Police bassist and front man Sting. The title comes from Shakespeare's sonnet number 130 which contains the lines, "My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun." Sting was met on the street one evening, who asked him, "How beautiful is the moon?" Sting responded with this line from the sonnet. Two events play a lot of influence on this album. First, Sting's mother died in 1986, inspiring the lyrics to the opening track, "Lazarus Heart." Second Sting joined the Conspiracy of Hope tour for Amnesty International, and through this tour was exposed to victims of government oppression in Latin America. He was particularly moved by people in Chile for whom loved ones had "disappeared" in government actions, and wrote "They Dance Alone" as a description of the mourners who would dance the traditional Cueca by themselves with a picture of their loved ones pinned to their clothes.Sting's first solo album leaned into jazz. This second album continues to have a jazz influence but reaches across a number of other genres including reggae, funk, acoustic rock, soft rock, and world music. He brought in a number of solid musicians into the recording sessions including Gil Evans, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Branford Marsalis, and even his fellow Police alumnus Andy SummersSting would continue to further success after this album, which peaked at number 9 on the Billboard 200 chart. In the UK, ...Nothing Like the Sun debuted and peaked at number 1 on the UK albums chart.Bruce presents this adult contemporary album for this week's podcast. Be Still My Beating HeartThis second single from the album went to number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. The lyrics are quite mature, describing the head telling the heart to settle down in the midst of an intense romance. The title was likely inspired by a 19th Century poem from Mary Elizabeth Coleridge. Andy Summers is playing guitar on this track. Little WingMost of this album is original music written by Sting, but this one is a deeper cut and a cover. Jimi Hendrix wrote "Little Wing" in 1967, and it appears on his "Axis" album. Gil Evans did a jazz arrangement of this piece in 1974, and provided this arrangement and backing with his orchestra for this cover. Sting's version runs just over 5 minutes, giving it a run time just over double that of the original Hendrix version. Rock SteadyAnother deep cut, this song is Stings humorous look at a couple who have volunteered to join a cruise, and later find out that they are joining Noah on the Ark. "Life may be tough, but we're sailing with the Lord." FragileThis is the fourth single from the album, and is a gorgeous acoustic piece. This anti-war song was likely inspired by Sting's work with Amnesty International. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:That's Amore by Dean Martin (from the motion picture “Moonstruck”) This romance comedy starring Cher and Nicolas Cage delivered a Best Actress Oscar to Cher and a Best Supporting Actress Oscar to Olympia Dukakis. STAFF PICKS:The Promise by When In RomeRob starts this week's staff picks with the only hit from a British new wave trio. This track went to number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, and became a popular song to play at weddings later on. It gained a revival in popularity when it was used in the soundtrack to "Napoleon Dynamite" in 2004. Got My Mind Set On You by George HarrisonLynch brings us a cover of a song originally written by Rudy Clark and recorded by James Ray in 1962. It is off Harrison's comeback album, "Cloud Nine." Harrison worked with Jeff Lynne on the album because he wanted a producer who wouldn't be intimidated by working with a Beatle. The teamwork went well, and the two would go on to form "The Traveling Wilburys" supergroup shortly thereafter.Dude (Looks Like a Lady) by AerosmithWayne features one of many hits from Aerosmith's monster "Permanent Vacation" album. The lyrics tell the tale of a man finding out that the "girl" he has bee pursuing at a club was a man dressed up as a woman. The idea for the song came from Motley Crue singer Vince Neil being mistaken frequently for a woman with long blonde hair.Mission by RushBruce closes out the staff picks with a song which arose from a conversation between Neal Peart and Geddy Lee about the perception people have that the rich and famous have easier lives. The lyrics reflect how every life has its own difficulties, and perhaps those who are highly successful would often wish for a more plain and settled life at times. INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:Bailando/Aquatic Park by Carlos SantanaGuitar virtuoso Carlos Santana takes us out this week with a track from his solo album, "Blues for Salvador." In this episode of Left at the Projector, we analyze Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds with guests Hugo and James Ray (aka @Jamesgetspolitical). We discuss standout performances and the film's controversial historical narrative.Hugo shares his admiration for Tarantino's blend of dark humor and WWII themes, while James raises concerns about historical accuracy but values the film's artistic approach to revenge. We explore character motivations, particularly Hans Landa's moral ambiguity, and examine key scenes that highlight tension. The conversation also touches on themes of vigilantism and anti-fascism, underscoring the film's cultural relevance today.Left of the Projector Linkshttps://www.patreon.com/LeftoftheProjectorPodhttps://boxd.it/5T9O1https://leftoftheprojector.comhttps://instagram.com/leftoftheprojectorhttp://tiktok.com/@leftoftheprojectorpodhttps://www.threads.net/@leftoftheprojector

Dive deep into the third dilemma from my book "God, Money, and Sex" - SEX.
Understand the 3 Human Dilemmas: God, Money and Sex - MONEY (Part 2) Dive deeper into the money dilemma with us! Money isn't the solution to money problems; it's just an idea we've been taught to chase. Understand this: what you hold isn't money, it's debt. Since 1913, with the Federal Reserve's third re-establishment, we've lost the real value of our currency, turning it into fiat money - backed by nothing tangible but an agreement of value. In 1971, Nixon's decision to disconnect currency from gold worsened this - making our dollars mere "Federal Reserve Notes" - essentially property of the Fed, on loan to us. The U.S. national debt has soared past $35 trillion, with your taxes paying for the interest alone. Every dollar printed adds to this debt. It's a game where you're set to lose, while the Federal Reserve profits. Remember, you're playing with Monopoly money that carries real-life interest. Don't get caught up in the worry; understand the game. For actionable insights on navigating this system, check out my book "God, Money and Sex." https://amzn.to/3OV2iiS Catch up on our last episode to get the full picture!
Episode #138 of our podcast dives deep into the human dilemma of MONEY from my book "God, Money, and Sex"! Here's a mind-blowing insight: Money is just an idea! Every single thing in your life, from your house to your bank account, started as an idea. If money is your problem, more money won't solve it. Understand that your true wealth lies in your capacity for ideas. There's no limit to how many you can have! Your net worth isn't in your stocks or crypto; it's in your creativity and action on those ideas. Ready to rethink money? Grab "God, Money, and Sex" for a full dive into this and more. https://amzn.to/3OV2iiS Your financial abundance starts within YOU!
Understand the 3 Human Dilemma's: God, Money and Sex: GOD Last episode we began a discussion of the 3 human dilemma's: God, Money and Sex. As we discussed I cover these in depth and detail in my latest book by the same title: God, Money and Sex. We really encourage you to grab a copy as it covers many issues that must be understood in today's turbulent times. In fact, not only do we suggest that these are the dilemmas that have caused us to be where we currently are. We also cover in specific detail how we can escape from the chaos into a new realm of order. Obviously, we won't be able to cover this topic in depth here like we do in the book but let's discuss one important principle in relation to God...
Join us for an insightful discussion with expert Jeremy Ryan Slate on the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire. From Glory to Dust. Once the beacon of civilization with unmatched military might, engineering marvels, and cultural richness, its rise symbolized human achievement. Yet, internal decay, corruption, and external pressures led to its inevitable fall, reminding us that even the mightiest can crumble. Sound familiar? Our world is quite chaotic right now. That's inarguable. But what has gotten us to this point? I've been on this planet for 66 years and there has never been a time like this. If you've been here the same or a smaller number of years I know the same can be said by you. It appears that we are at war. Not just globally, but internally. But the real war we are fighting is not with planes, drones, bombs, bioweapons and guns. The true war we are fighting is a spiritual war—and every great tradition has talked about it and predicted it. We submit these are the times of which we've all been told for thousands of years; and have been predicted by all great spiritual traditions and prophets. On the surface it appears to be nation against nation. Democrat versus Republican. Liberal versus Conservative. Capitalism and Democracy against Marxism and Communism. But these are all the effects of something bigger, wider and deeper…
We've been discussing the various aspects of your community: who you want them to be, who you must be for them to want you as a community member, and today, Where must you be to meet these people? Here's a fact: people with same values, principles and virtues tend to frequent the same places: Gyms (patriots) Churches Synagogues Restaurants Grocery stores Social events Clubs—not nightclubs but speaking clubs, rotary clubs, etc. Networking events There are probably more but that gives you a good start. Once you have come up with these places, the next step is to devise an action plan, based upon the most leveraged ideas you've come up with, to schedule yourself time to get out to these places…
Define the Qualities You Must Possess to have the people you want in your community be attracted to you when you meet them. We've been discussing the empowering or disempowering capabilities of your community. We're pretty sure this is not news to you. Most have heard all the memes, and it just makes common sense—unfortunately it's just not commonly used. If you haven't seen our previous episodes on this topic, we strongly recommend you catch up on them—they lay a lot of ground work for this one. We discussed in the last episode specific strategies for choosing your community. This cannot be haphazard, and it will not automatically include your family and friends. In fact, if you're building your community correctly, choosing family and friends could be incredibly disempowering.
Define the Qualities and Characteristics of Your Ideal Community We discussed in the last episode that your community is not as simple and straightforward as it initially appears. Just as a reminder: It's not as simple as family and friends. Community is not automatically defined as: family (either nuclear or extended), childhood friends, business associates, or college alumni. As the Christ stated and was quoted: (He) said unto them, my mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God and do it.
You're here to make a difference. Complex, powerful, and true things most often disrupt the controlling narrative and social norm. Here is something that is antithetical to conventional wisdom. You are not sent here to make friends; you are sent here to make a difference. Nowhere has the friendly, loving, all we need is unity message been more propagated than in personal development and most all spiritual arenas. But if you really study your Bible the Christian prophet stated “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. ~ Matthew 10:34

Run from what's comfortable. Forget safety. Live where you fear to live. Destroy your reputation. Be notorious. I have tried prudent planning long enough. From now on I'll be mad. ~ Rumi When Rumi speaks about being mad, he's not talking about being angry. He's talking about being “insane” by the standard measure of the world. What the world considers sanity is actually in many, if not most, cases, not that sane. So, to be considered “insane” by the worlds standards may just be the most sane thing you can do…
What do you believe in so strongly that you're literally willing to give your life for it? In my new book God, Money and Sex I discuss the problems we experience when we lose our connection to Fundamental Principles. The only way to have Truth is to come from Truth. And God's Truth is the only truth. Irrespective of what we've been conditioned to believe in today's secular world. When there is no Fundamental Truth and connectivity to God the only way we have to determine behavior is by observing those around us…
Seth and Marc get deep into the psyche of an obsessive man depraved of love with the song Got My Mind Set On You as made famous by ex-Beatle George Harrison. Originally written by Rudy Clark and first covered by James Ray, when you start to do some digging, the lyrics bring about more questions than they answer.
Many clients come to us and tell us that they “want to create this or that” But the harsh reality is there is no way you can tell me what you truly want unless and until you know who you truly are. When you don't know who you are there is no way you can really know what you want. And if you don't know who you are and what you want then how can you even begin to take a stand for what you believe in? The hard reality is that you can't. The journey to full self-awareness is actually the most important journey, process and work you can undertake...
The majority doesn't follow the Truth. Don't follow the majority, follow the Truth. Those who follow the crowd most often get absolutely lost in it. Those who tell the truth in today's world are most often persecuted, sometimes prosecuted...

Truth is not relative, it's absolute... Truth is not beholden to any man, it's timeless and universal... Truth transcends man, but can be learned and embraced... Not believing or liking Truth does not make it not Truth... Truth is most often uncomfortable, yet it will set you free... Believe it or not, this is our final episode in this series on Transmuting Your Body into a Powerhouse. It's been a long journey. Hopefully it's been as valuable for you as it has for us reviewing these principles...
If you're going to climb Mount Everest, you better have a guide. We spoke with a marketing person some months ago who stated, “If someone is going to hire you to coach them, they have to downgrade their status.” This is indicative of the vast amount of ego that most people have in the world today. It takes a certain amount of confidence and awareness to realize that you need some help—we all need help at some point in our lives. Again, when you're moving into unchartered territory it's wise to have someone there to mentor you that has been there before. To think that you don't need any outside input is extreme ignorance and arrogance. Even the best of mentors needs mentors and coaches. To think you don't is an illusion...
If you want to have a lot of energy you must eat a lot of meat, fruit and vegetables. Produce is live food, filled with tremendous amounts of energy. We've talked about meat previously, today let's speak about produce. Non-organic produce is filled with harmful chemicals: pesticides, which can literally kill you, and definitely kill the nutrients in the produce...
Tonight we're going to explore a self-help guru's rollercoaster ride of a life! James Arthur Ray ( https://jamesray.com/ ) and Bersabeh Ray join us in the first half. James Arthur was well known as a philosopher, life coach, appearing on numerous television shows and motivational programs, until he lost in all in 2009. He met his wife Bersabeh after a stint in prison, and set off to rebuild his life and his career so we get the details on that and the appearance blossoms into a great discussion about the world and people's behavior in it. In what remains of the second half we have mixed media from recent Trump/Harris appearances, and then a little time spend memorializing an Internet legend lost. The storm is rolling in tonight! Plastics and Falates are detrimental, we're sure you know what plastics are, but if you don't know what Falates are they basically: Are any of a group of esters of phthalic acid that are widely used in the manufacture of plastics and also as synthetic additives in perfumes and cosmetics. These chemicals have been linked to reproductive and hormonal abnormalities in humans. Falates can be found in most products that have contact with plastics during production, packaging, or delivery. Chronic exposure to Falates will adversely influence the endocrine system and functioning of multiple organs, which has negative long-term impacts on the success of pregnancy, child growth and development, and the reproductive systems in both young children and adolescents. Some dairy products, fish, seafood, and oils are found to have a high level of Falates.
The mass majority have become totally sedentary. Sitting at their computers all day long and then coming home and sitting on the couch in front of the plug-in drug is taking its toll. 43% of American adults are obese—the highest percentage in history. Even more frightening are the numbers of children. According to the current CDC findings: 12.7% among 2- to 5-year-olds, 20.7% among 6- to 11-year-olds, and 22.2% among 12- to 19-year-olds. The unfortunate fact is that there's a great likelihood that these kids have already carved out their future and will most probably be obese their entire life. While a lot of current styles and fads tend to make “plus size” normal—even attractive—it's not. It's incredibly unhealthy and leads to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, breathing problems such as asthma and sleep apnea, and joint problems. Not to mention a shortened lifespan…
Stress appears to be a major problem in today's world, yet stress is not really the enemy, the enemy is lack of recovery. Dr. Hans Selye conducted extensive research on the concept of stress and found there are two types of stress: there's distress—what we typically think of when we think of stress; and yet there's another type of stress called eustress. Eustress is not exhausting, it's invigorating. Eustress is the “creative tension” between where you currently reside, and the gap that exists between the point where you are, and the point of where we choose to go...
This week's topic is going to be tough for many given that most of us spend an inordinate amount of time on the computer each day—and many must do this for their job. But difficult or not, limiting screen time will give you big benefits in the long run. On the flip side, there are many detrimental effects of blue light on your body and your sleep. According to research conducted at Harvard, blue light not only negatively affects your sleep, but can also cause disease. Our ancestors utilized the sun for illumination, and when the sun went down, we lived in relative darkness. Obviously, there are benefits to extending our illuminated hours, but we must do this judiciously. What we're toying with is our circadian rhythms. When our circadian rhythms are thrown off, we are out of alignment with earth's energy. Which obviously is not nearly as healthy as being in alignment with earth's energy...
Have you ever considered why during 2@2@ liquor stores, strip clubs, and pot dispensaries were allowed to remain open during the lockdown, but churches were not? It seems kind of odd, doesn't it? While we are not going to address the strip club issue in this episode, we encourage you to draw your own conclusions. What we will briefly discuss is the issue of Alcohol, drugs and all types of stimulants. We realize this may not be popular with some, it is powerful if you'll hang with us and really listen with an open mind. Let's address alcohol first. Alcohol has been legal for quite some time and has become part of our social construct. While Bersabeh and I have not drunk for 3 years now, we used to. But the question is “why”?
The entire universe is comprised of repeating patterns. This is the Hermetic Law of Correspondence. Most commonly stated “As above, so below.” Basically, this Law teaches us that if we want to know how our body works, we need to look at how the universe works. Our entire planet's surface is comprised of approximately 70-71% water. Likewise, your body is comprised of approximately 70% water (if you're healthy) and interestingly, a baby's body is about 78% water; and it tends to decrease with age. Needless to say, drinking enough pure, clean water is essential for maintaining health and body functions. This does not include polluted or flavored waters—rather clean, pure water. You cannot get this from the tap. In 2023 as published a study conducted by the US Environmental Protection Agency found that tap water is full of PFAS (a family of synthetic chemicals that linger in the environment as well as the environment of your body. Exposure to PFAS is linked to cancer, obesity, thyroid disease, high cholesterol, decreased fertility, liver damage and hormone suppression.
In this episode of Passion Struck, I had the pleasure of interviewing James Rhee, a high school teacher turned private equity investor. James shared his inspiring journey, starting from his childhood experience with a red helicopter that taught him the value of kindness and generosity. He discussed his decision to teach high school and later attend Harvard Law School to become a public defender. However, he ultimately pursued a career in private equity. James emphasized the importance of leading with kindness and compassion in both personal and professional life. He highlighted the need to focus on intrinsic motivation rather than external validation and discussed the complexities of human behavior and societal systems. We've been discussing over the last few episodes how to transmute your body into a powerhouse. Obviously, this includes the mind as well because mind and body are tightly interdependent and interwoven. Will power is off and on… environment is 24/7. Basically, where you live and the environment you surround yourself with is either incredibly empowering or incredibly disempowering. Choose wisely.
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable. ~ Socrates We've been discussing the ways in which to turn your body into a powerhouse and we've discussed many psychological, physical as well as dietary habits and today we'd like to advocate daily exercise. While this may seem self-evident, even simplistic, it's just simply not applied by many—maybe most—in today's world. People have often asked me: “Do you work out every single day?” My reply is “Do you eat every day?”
How many times have we all heard, “You are what you eat”? This is very true and obviously there is a lot of controversy around this from the Globalist as well as the animal rights activists. Your body needs essential nutrients, and the proven fact is that vegetable protein is not as complete nor as nutrient dense as animal protein. Bersabeh and I did not come to this personal experience without much trial and error. We both were card carrying vegetarians for 5 years. Not just vegetarians, but vegan which means you eat nothing with a face OR anything that comes from something with a face...

Today's topic is a challenging one for most of us in the modern world. Including me and Bersabeh. Getting an adequate amount of sunlight. Most of us spend the majority of our lives in artificial lighting. While artificial light provides some benefits, like increased hours of productivity, even that can be a detriment. According to Medical Life Sciences: The use of artificial light at night-time has been linked to increased risk of sleep disorders, obesity, depression, metabolic disorders, and even breast cancer. The human species has evolved to develop a circadian rhythm of being awake during the day and asleep at night. For our ancestors, which the sun went down they went to sleep—with few exceptions...
We've been discussing how to transmute your body into a powerhouse. Today's episode may come as a surprise to you. But there's plentiful research and plenty of experts studying and discussing this topic. So here we go: Stay away from porn. Porn impacts you negatively physically, mentally, and emotionally—not to mention spiritually. Modern science tells us that everything is energy; and the energy you allow into your mind and body is either empowering or disempowering—there is no neutrality. Pornography is a $14B per year industry in the US alone…
No one would intentionally drink Strychnine and think they're going to be healthy and live a long life. Yet how many of us poison our bodies a little bit at a time and think nothing of it? We've talked a lot in previous episodes about poisons like alcohol, cigarettes, marijuana, and other recreational drugs so we won't repeat them again now, but let's discuss some of the poisons that are less obvious. Would like to credit and thank Dr. Simon Goddek for some of this information. First: vegetable oil. Now this may come as a surprise to you as many have touted them to be healthy, but they're not. All Seed oils are oils are extracted from various seeds. The most common include rapeseed (canola oil), soybean, corn, sunflower, safflower, peanut, etc. Unlike coconut oil or olive oil which can be extracted by pressing, these new-fangled oils must be extracted in very unnatural ways...
A very important part of all alchemical training—in fact, a very important part of life—is developing true and complete health. It's very difficult to be mentally and spiritually attuned when your body is worn out, toxic, and tired. Having a healthy body is a somewhat complex topic and for this very reason, obesity is one of the major causes of death in the United States. According to Clinical Medicine, excess weight was responsible for more than 1300 excess deaths per day (nearly 500,000 per year) and a loss in life expectancy of nearly 2·4 years in 2016, contributing to higher excess mortality than smoking. This is crazy. If this was all there was, then this would certainly be more than enough but it's even more complex than that. Remember true alchemy is the art and science of transmutation. To take something of low value and transmute it into something of high value. So, in this episode we're going to discuss how to transmute a toxic unhealthy body into a healthy one. We'll cover a large range of topics from diet to exercise, to toxins and substances, even good sleep. We truly hope this is valuable for you and our prayer is that it lengthens your life in long and prosperous ways. Let me just state: there is so much talk in today's world about “making a difference”. If you're someone who wants to have an impact and make a difference in the world then please know, you have to be around a long time to do this—because frankly—it takes a long time to truly make a difference in the world. There is no quick fix...
As we've been discussing the concept of “The Great Work” is to become the greatest reflection possible of God in human form. To literally become more than human. The Great Work is the foundation of all alchemy and mystery teachings. It doesn't take much time when you observe the world today to realize that our world is in major disruption. Much more so than it's ever been previously in my lifetime. We believe one of the main reasons we are at this point is that we have left the sacred by the wayside and plunged full force into secularism. Money has become our God, work has become our religion, and politics have become our philosophy. We've largely, with few exceptions, lost what we'll call our Vertical Principal relationship (aka. Relationship with God) and when this was disconnected all we have was a horizontal viewpoint of the world (I cover this in detail in my latest book GMS). The only measure we have for what is right and true is to look around us and see what others are doing. This is problematic. To accomplish The Great Work, you must live a life in alignment with Universal Principles and Truth...
In the last episodes we've been discussing first what the prime objective of all alchemical traditions is: entitled The Great Work. In other words, to become God in human form or more specifically to reflect God in your body and mind through your human form and into the world. While very few individuals we meet even think much less contemplate these high ideals, the fact is that for this reason and this reason only are you here. In the traditions they maintain that prior to coming into this lifetime you meet with your own higher council, and you decide what you need to learn, what you need to heal, and what you need to accomplish in this current incarnation. Upon exit you meet with them once again and check in to see how well you've done. If you fail, your mission you're recycled and sent back in once again to go through another entirely different life and to play the same game over again. I don't know about you, but this is incentive enough for me to do everything possible in this life to ensure that I accomplish and become all I can accomplish and become. If you pass and did a great job then you are rewarded with a new life with new challenges or possibly if you have truly evolved to a very high level of awareness. You move on toward greater adventures. Now who really knows for sure if this is true… but again for us we'd rather be safe than sorry. How about you?
