People(s) of color in Mittelerde?!!

This episode on the theme of personhood is our final LOTR and The Hobbit episode (...at least for now)! In addition to discussing Wargs, the Great Eagles, a not-so-friendly spider, and the type of art that should never be given to Treebeard, we end with our take aways from the time we've spent with Middle Earth over the past couple years. Thank you so much for staying with us for all of our LOTR discussions thus far. We're excited to continue on with the other geeky properties we cover and maybe bring Middle Earth back into the rotation once the TV show airs! A Journey in the Dark - Unable to pass over the mountain, they must try going through Moria. The Mines of Moria, located under the mountains, is a legendary dwelling place of Dwarves—and the legends are dark. Gimli is eager to discover what became of the Dwarves who lived there, but no one else shares this excitement. As they consider this option, Wargs—wolflike monsters—attack in the night. Gandalf protects them with his ability to conjure fire, and in the morning they continue to the doors of Moria, in front of which a lake has formed. The doors are closed and require a magic word to open them, but Gandalf has a hard time figuring it out. Eventually, the solution occurs to him and he is able to open the doors. Just then, a tentacle seizes Frodo by the ankle and tries to drag him into the lake. Sam slashes at it with his knife and they scramble through the open doors. However, the tentacled creature destroys the stonework and sends it crashing down, blocking the way back out. They are now in the dark, and Gandalf leads them using a faint light emanating from his staff. They walk for hours. At times, Frodo thinks he can hear soft footsteps following them. After walking a long time in the dark, they come to a wide hall with a hole in the floor. Pippin, curious about the hole, drops a stone down it. After a little while, they hear a faint tapping coming from deep within the mines. The Fellowship spends a fitful night's sleep in the large chamber. The following morning, they enter another chamber where they find the tomb of Balin.
S01E28 Previously on: The fellowship have been searching the marshes of the Gladden fields for a dark fortress, the Dwimmerhorn. It was briefly sighted through the mists but was quickly lost again. Trudging through the mud towards the estimated position, the group stumbled into a group of orcs and wolves, led by a Great Orc, who were chasing a man. The party's guide, Magric, betrayed them by warning the evil band of the ambush waiting for them, then fled into the marsh. Battle was joined. Once the Wargs were slain, the orcs, clearly suffering in the sunshine, were no match for the seasoned adventurers, only the Great Orc posing much of a problem before he too fell. The man has been saved, so what's his story? This is an Adventures in Middle-Earth actual play using the D&D 5e system on Fantasy Grounds. You can find session summaries, items and characters on World Anvil where our campaign is called "In The Shadow of The Mountains". Our attempts to warg our troubles away were interrupted by an impromptu Donald Trump speech, in which the Victim-In-Chief announced that he was going on strike until the Democrats cease all of their investigations into his rampant misconduct. To which we say, Nope! Meanwhile, Mayor Bill de Blasio entered the Democratic 2020 field with a cringeworthy (and possibly illegal) video shot inside his taxpayer-funded luxury SUV; Kris Kobach sent a list of demands to the White House, including the requirement for a private jet, to fulfill his Peter Principle-sanctioned destiny; and Steve Mnuchin’s 85-year-old dad used a flip phone to buy a $91 million Jeff Koons rabbit sculpture for disgraced hedge-fund operator Steve Cohen. Also: Nope investigates an unusual commercial real estate transaction in Hell’s Kitchen; Elon Musk sends an insane memo to all of his Tesla employees; and yet another high-flying Silicon Valley biotech CEO turns out to be a fraud. Finally, we speculate on what precipitated Kim Kardashian’s Twitter beef with fast food chain Jack in the Box. In Part 3 of this harrowing tail, we rejoin our heroes after they valiantly fought off a vicious, murderous pack of Wargs. While tending to their wounds, the survey the gruesome battle scene and further investigate the two abandoned wagons. With little ground covered since they left the in, they are no closer to uncovering the mysteries of the farmers errand. What surprises lay in wait for our fellowship? Will Kvelduf continue tolerating Camlous and his racists taunts? Will Tahr'eah get to flip back into the wagon? And will North finally upgrade his bedroll? All this and more on this weeks GIE!!!
Last we left our intrepid heroes, they were heading west towards Felshire when they came across a grisly scene. While Camlous, Kveldulf, North, and Tahr'eah investigated the corpse ridden scene in the fading light, three monstrous Wargs emerged from the shadows. We begin this episode where we left off, as they meet the enemy head on...

You come upon an old camp, recently deserted as it was filled with bones and torn flesh specks. Prompted as you know you are close, you follow them. You are riding on a steed recently procured from Rohan. You have rode over 12 days in search of the fleeing orcs. You war party is close behind, but you have rode ahead to scout the filthy enemies. You smell their putrid stench as you gallop in their wake. Footfalls litter the ground as the orcs pounded their heavy feet, scuttling away from the angered humans. You see them in the distance, and push your horse to the brink, wanting revenge for the attack on your village. In your blind rage, you do not detect the two Warg riders lying in wait nearby. They ambush you, as the lieutenant slays you, disembowelling you and laughing as the Warg rips you apart. You wake up suddenly back at the camp, remembering that you were just murdered. Confused, you chase after the orcs again. You spot them in the distance. You remember the ambush duo and prepare yourself. You see the two orcs on their Wargs. One yells to the other, “Captain, he knew we were here.” You think to yourself Captain??? This week, we discussed the topic of loot boxes, as they have seemed to permeate almost every gaming title as of late. Morgan discusses his time with Shadow of War. We managed to fit in some Cuphead and Destiny 2 talk, as well as Shea discussing his time with the Stranger Things mobile game and a fan-made Crash Bandicoot 2d game.
