"Aging gracefully? More like defying it altogether. I'm aiming for a 30-year-old body with a 300-year-old mind." - Dr. Jeff Gladden In this episode of Well Beyond 40, I sit down with Dr. Jeff Gladden, a renowned interventional cardiologist turned longevity expert, to unravel the secrets of turning 100 into the new 30. Dr. Gladden shares his personal journey of overcoming midlife health challenges that many of us can relate to—exhaustion, weight gain, and the looming threat of mental decline. But instead of accepting these as signs of inevitable aging, he cracked the code to reclaiming his vitality and has since dedicated his life to helping others do the same. Dr. Gladden's approach to longevity isn't just about avoiding decline; it's about optimizing every aspect of your health, from your genetics to your daily habits. He dives deep into the science behind why some of us age faster than others, how personalized nutrition and exercise can make a world of difference, and the game-changing role of bio-identical hormone therapy—especially crucial for women navigating menopause. His insights on the exponential nature of aging and how to combat it with comprehensive, customized strategies will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about getting older. But the real magic happens when Dr. Gladden talks about regeneration—the future of anti-aging. Imagine resetting your biological clock through advanced therapies that clean out old, damaged cells and replace them with the vitality of youth. It's not just science fiction; it's happening now. If you've ever wished you could freeze time or even roll it back, this episode is your roadmap. (3x)Glory be to the + Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen. From Psalm 51Open my lips, O Lord, *and my mouth shall proclaim your praise.Create in me a clean heart, O God, *and renew a right spirit within me.Cast me not away from your presence *and take not your holy Spirit from me.Give me the joy of your saving help again *and sustain me with your bountiful Spirit.Glory be to the + Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen. A PsalmPsalm 86Inclina, DomineBow down your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and in misery.Keep watch over my life, for I am faithful; save your servant who puts his trust in you.Be merciful to me, O Lord, for you are my God; I call upon you all the day long.Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, and great is your love toward all who call upon you.Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer, and attend to the voice of my supplications. In the time of my trouble I will call upon you, for you will answer me.Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord, nor anything like your works. All nations you have made will come and worship you, O Lord, and glorify your Name. For you are great; you do wondrous things; and you alone are God.Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; knit my heart to you that I may fear your Name.I will thank you, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and glorify your Name for evermore. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the nethermost Pit.The arrogant rise up against me, O God, and a band of violent men seeks my life; they have not set you before their eyes. But you, O Lord, are gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger, and full of kindness and truth.Turn to me and have mercy upon me; give your strength to your servant; and save the child of your handmaid.Show me a sign of your favor, so that those who hate me may see it and be ashamed; because you, O Lord, have helped me and comforted me. Glory be to the + Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen. The ReadingsEphesians 2:19–3:7So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles— assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace that was given to me for you, how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God's grace, which was given me by the working of his power. The Word of the LordThanks Be to God Mark 11:11–23And he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple. And when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve. On the following day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry. And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. And he said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it.And they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. And he would not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple. And he was teaching them and saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations'? But you have made it a den of robbers.” And the chief priests and the scribes heard it and were seeking a way to destroy him, for they feared him, because all the crowd was astonished at his teaching. And when evening came they went out of the city.As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots. And Peter remembered and said to him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered.” And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.The Word of the LordThanks Be to GodThe Apostles' CreedI believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth;I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. ExamenIn God's presence, think through the day ahead:the work you will do, the people you will encounter, the dangers or uncertainties you face, the possibilities for joy and acts of kindness, any particular resolutions you need to renew, consider what might draw you from the love of God and neighbor, the opportunities you will have to know and serve God and to grow in virtue, remember those closest to you and all for whom you have agreed to pray, ask God's blessings, guidance, and strength in all that lies before you. Gather up these thoughts and reflections in the wordsOur Savior taught us to say: The Lord's PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. The Collects of the DayGrant us, O Lord, to trust in you with all our hearts; for, as you always resist the proud who confide in their own strength, so you never forsake those who make their boast of your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us in safety to this new day: Preserve us with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Closing PrayersA Prayer of St. ChrysostomAlmighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name you will be in the midst of them: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen. Glory be to the + Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.Lord, have mercy! (3x)God, be gracious to us and bless us and shine Your countenance upon us and have mercy on us.This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!The Father+ is my hope; the Son, my refuge; the Holy Spirit, my protection: All-Holy Trinity, glory to You!Amen!

Special Edition: Gladden Pappin on Orbán's Big Speech

Last weekend, Viktor Orbán travelled to the town of Băile Tușnad, deep in the Transylvanian mountains of Romania, to attend a 'music and ideas' festival. He was on the bill. Amongst the ethnically-Hungarian diaspora who live in the region, Orbán is a regular visitor. In fact, the Tusványos festival was started by Fidesz back when the party was effectively four people. That was in the early-90s. Today, it has swelled to accommodate over 10 000 people. The place is billed as an 'open university', with talks by a range of academics, thinkers and politicians. Traditionally, Orbán gives his own 'series of lectures' , just like many of others speakers. The difference is that Orbán speaks from the main stage, in front of a crowd of a few thousand. In recent years, these speeches have become philosophical key notes to understanding the Hungarian perspective. In previous years, his talks have made world headlines, including the one where he said he regarded Hungary as an 'illiberal democracy' (though this was partly mis-translation). Rarely does a world leader get as philosophical as Orbán does in these talks. He lays out a deep vision of the future as he sees it for the upcoming year, one that connects history, economics, and metaphysics. This year's speech was among the deepest - and the spiciest -ever. Not only did it catch the headlines, with its barbs against Poland, and naming US intelligence as the saboteurs of the Nordstream pipeline, it could even justifiably be called 'historic'. Orbán talked openly of Hungary's coming pivot to China, of the decay of the Western soul, and of the shape of the peace that must come beyond the Russo-Ukraine War. Gladden Pappin is the President of the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs. A prominent academic and leading light in the post-liberal movement, Pappin is perhaps one of the hidden architects of Hungary's dynamic foreign policy. This week, The Lads ask him about the deeper meaning of Orbán's Big Talk. ***Be excellent to each other, and -Get us on Twitter. https://www.x.com/multipolarityOn Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/multipolarity Or on our Substack. https://substack.com/@multipolaritypod

Psalm 86 (Listen) Great Is Your Steadfast Love A Prayer of David. 86:1   Incline your ear, O LORD, and answer me,    for I am poor and needy.2   Preserve my life, for I am godly;    save your servant, who trusts in you—you are my God.3   Be gracious to me, O Lord,    for to you do I cry all the day.4   Gladden the soul of your servant,    for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.5   For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,    abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.6   Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer;    listen to my plea for grace.7   In the day of my trouble I call upon you,    for you answer me. 8   There is none like you among the gods, O Lord,    nor are there any works like yours.9   All the nations you have made shall come    and worship before you, O Lord,    and shall glorify your name.10   For you are great and do wondrous things;    you alone are God.11   Teach me your way, O LORD,    that I may walk in your truth;    unite my heart to fear your name.12   I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,    and I will glorify your name forever.13   For great is your steadfast love toward me;    you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. 14   O God, insolent men have risen up against me;    a band of ruthless men seeks my life,    and they do not set you before them.15   But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious,    slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.16   Turn to me and be gracious to me;    give your strength to your servant,    and save the son of your maidservant.17   Show me a sign of your favor,    that those who hate me may see and be put to shame    because you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me. Hey there, friends! It's your host Joe here, with a truly eye-opening chat I recently had with the insightful Jeffrey Gladden. We dove deep into some pretty life-altering concepts around relationships, longevity, and the incredible blend of youth and wisdom. Let me tell you, this conversation was not your run-of-the-mill talk. We explored how to ask questions that matter, the impact of our mindset on aging, and why maintaining a youthful spirit is essential for a meaningful and impactful life. We also touched on the importance of transcending past experiences and focusing on love, connection, and contribution. There's so much to unpack from our conversation, so I've put together this blog post to cover all the gold nuggets we unearthed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLXkCpptCPg The Power of Courageous Conversations Jeffrey and I discussed how important it is to delve into courageous conversations. These aren't just any talks; they're the kind that creates bonds that can withstand storms. Jeffrey suggested that by simply asking deeper questions, we can unlock what really makes a person come alive. The key takeaway here is that being vulnerable, empathetic, and understanding can foster more love and connection in our relationships. Longevity: A Young Body with an Ancient Mind One of my favorite parts of our discussion was about keeping a youthful mind in an aging body. Jeffrey blew my mind with his take on "100 is the New 30." Imagine having the physicality of a 30-year-old but the wisdom of someone three centuries old. He talked about his journey from sick care to health care, shifting focus to longevity and how we should adopt an exponential strategy for aging. This means always striving to be our best self. The Life Energy Circle We then spiraled into the concept of the 'life energy circle,' which comprises mindset, mental health, and building fabulous relationships. The gist of it is mastering the art of relational aspects, knowing that the human touch remains indispensable even in our tech-savvy age. It's about looking beyond the surface and engaging in life with a whole heart. Relationships in an AI World Even as technology and AI continue to surge forward, Jeffrey and I agreed that humanity's touch is absolutely crucial. We discussed how believing in yourself and overcoming past conditioning is key to thriving. It's not just about the tech; it's about the people and connections we make along the way. Overcoming Trauma and Embracing Love Trauma, as Jeffrey puts it, is something we need to understand, heal from, and ultimately transcend. It's heavy stuff, but it's so important for growth. Our chat highlighted the significance of love and becoming 'unencumbered' by our past. The psycho-spiritual angle really comes into play here – understanding that our security doesn't come from external sources but from within. Financial Gain vs. Relational Wealth Success shouldn't only be measured in dollars and cents. Jeffrey emphasized the value of resonant relationships over mere financial gain. We talked about quantum thinking, seeking inspiration from others, and building connections that resonate with our mission, vision, and values. Jeffrey Gladden's Resources And for all you go-getters eager to learn more, Jeffrey shared a treasure trove of resources: - His game-changing book "100 is the New 30" - His insightful podcast "Gladden Longevity Podcast" - And his website "Gladden Longevity" for anyone interested in diving deeper into the world of longevity and peak living. In conclusion, our conversation was a profound journey into the realms of courage, questioning norms, and understanding the beauty of human connections. Whether it's about facing life with the heart of a 30-year-old and the wisdom of a 300-year-old, or focusing on more than just financial gains, this chat has reshaped how I view my everyday interactions and long-term goals. The overarching message? Embrace love, strive for impact, and value the bonds we create along the way. And remember, folks, while we're out there hustling and keeping our flowcharts in check, let's not forget to live young, and love deeply, for as long as we possibly can.
