Welcome to Classic Skeptic Metaphysicians! We're re-releasing some of our back catalog so that these gems can be re-discovered!This week: Shamanism and Nature-Based SpiritualityNo conversation about metaphysics is complete without talking about spirits, ghosts and communication form the "other side". This week, a professional ghost hunter joins us with spine tingling stories of her paranormal investigations.Don't listen to this one in the dark!"We fear what we don't know. And just because something creeps us out, we're automatically like, oh my God, that must be evil because I feel terrified right now. And that's not always the case, you know, it could just be somebody just popping in and being like, oh, Hey, oh gosh, sorry. I didn't mean to scare you there. And then they leave, but you're sitting there like, oh my God, that was a demon." --Chrise WilliamsAbout our Guest:Cherise Williams, a wife and mama from Ohio is a tarot card reader, paranormal investigator, and witchcraft practitioner. She's passionate about the paranormal, having studied it for her entire life, and always knew that she wanted to incorporate it into her life and career. She has 15 years of ghost hunting under her belt, including formal/professional investigating with a team, as well as independent/informal investigations. She's investigated in every type of location such as abandoned hospitals and homes, hotels, historic buildings, private residences, and cemeteries and considers herself a healthy mix of skeptic and believer. The Witch's Guide to Ghost Huntinghttps://www.amazon.com/Witchs-Guide-Ghost-Hunting/dp/1954528310Guest Info:Website: cherisewilliams.comInstagram: @cherisewilliams.xoFacebook: @CheriseWilliams.xoYouTube: Cherise WilliamsSupport the Show:Rate/review Us Here: https://lovethepodcast.com/SkepticMetaphysicians Purchase Merchandise: https://www.skepticmetaphysician.com/store Buy Me A Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/SkepticMetaphys Connect With The Skeptic Metaphysicians:Website: skepticmetaphysician.comFacebook: @TheSkepticMetaphysicianIG: SkepticMetaphysician_PodcastTik Tok: @skepticmetaphysicians

On the Secret Witch Show today our guest is Phyllis Curott. Phyllis is one of America's first public Witches and a Wiccan Priestess. She's an attorney whose groundbreaking cases secured the rights of Witches, and she's the most widely published, internationally best-selling Wiccan author in the world. She's the creator of the ‘Witches Wisdom Tarot', and the online course Awaken the Witch Within, and her book ‘Spells for Living Well, A Witch's Guide to Manifesting Change, Wellbeing and Wonder'. The recipient of numerous honors, Phyllis was inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. Collegium of Clergy and is a Trustee and Program Chair of the Parliament of the World's Religions. Phyllis is a third time guest to the Secret Witch Show, and in today's episode, we dive into all things divination. We explored what divination is, and how it can help sensitive souls heal and connect to your soul, exploring how everyone has a magic within and everyone is connected to the natural world - and how tarot can help you open to your gifts and fulfil your unique purpose. What You'll Learn from this Episode: Tarot is a tool that guides us home to ourselves - that helps us heal, reconnect to our wellbeing and soul; and it does this by providing answers to questions that help us access our own inner guidance system We learn, through tarot, to access our own wisdom, rather than to outsource our power to others - like some patriarchal models. The more we practise tarot, the more we learn to cultivate our own inner wisdom We can also access our inner wisdom by communing with the spirits of nature and see what they reveal to us. These spirits show us that we are never alone; we are constantly surrounded by wisdom and guidance - if we are open to receive its signs and synchronicities. Nature's magic is organised in a way to support us and heal us and help us and guide us and all we have to do is pay attention and participate We can sometimes feel that there's a fight between logic and magic, when we come to heal ourselves magically, and the truth is, there's a way that we can embrace both - it's not an either/or We each have unique soul gifts, and the route to finding them is through healing ourselves first, because it is in our wounds that our gifts are found. Witchcraft has always been a radical act, and I am never more in my element than when I'm playing with tarot, crystals, and even my houseplants. This tracks since witches often work with the elements of earth, air, fire, water, and spirit to enact personal or societal transformation. Elena Rego isn't “just” a witch; she's the force behind The Holy Witch and The School of Holy Witchery, and our conversation isn't “just” about the much-maligned tradition of witchcraft. Instead, we explore rituals that reconnect us to our inherent wholeness, we reclaim honest, inclusive dialogue, and we revel in the juiciness that is Lilith: the original witch. GUEST BIO Elena Rego. A practicing Witch for close to 30 years, I have woven together my experience as a Social Worker, Body Worker, and artist to inform my Priestess work as a ritualist and teacher. My spiritual path has been rooted in deep shamanism, animism, feminism, and magic, with studies and initiations in Dianic Witchcraft, Sri Vidya Tantra, and Core Shamanism. Other topics include incorporating current issues and political messaging into paranormal/fantasy romance, lusting after men in black leather gloves, and the emotional rollercoaster of publishing your first book. Enjoy!Guest: Sarah Hawley, author of A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a DemonBook Summary:Mariel Spark knows not to trust a demon, especially one that wants her soul, but what's a witch to do when he won't leave her side—and she kind of doesn't want him to?Mariel Spark is prophesied to be the most powerful witch seen in centuries of the famed Spark family, but to the displeasure of her mother, she prefers baking to brewing potions and gardening to casting hexes. When a spell to summon flour goes very wrong, Mariel finds herself staring down a demon—one she inadvertently summoned for a soul bargain.Ozroth the Ruthless is a legend among demons. Powerful and merciless, he drives hard bargains to collect mortal souls. But his reputation has suffered ever since a bargain went awry—if he can strike a bargain with Mariel, he will earn back his deadly reputation. Ozroth can't leave Mariel's side until they complete a bargain, which she refuses to do (turns out some humans are attached to their souls). But the witch is funny. And curvy. And disgustingly yet endearingly cheerful. Becoming awkward roommates quickly escalates when Mariel, terrified to confess the inadvertent summoning to her mother, blurts out that she's dating Ozroth. As Ozroth and Mariel struggle with their opposing goals and maintaining a fake relationship, real attraction blooms between them. But Ozroth has a limited amount of time to strike the deal, and if Mariel gives up her soul, she'll lose all her emotions—including love—which will only spell disaster for them both.Show Notes: Cocktober came early! We're apparently on a monster romance in a normal world kick, and this entry is really fun! Our biggest discussion centered around how annoying it is to have individuals in delayed adolescence due to personal wealth giving a critique of capitalism, but he's a demon so it's not like that was the most unrealistic thing.

On the Secret Witch Show today our guest is Phyliss Curott. Phyllis Currott is one of America's first public Witches and a Wiccan Priestess. She's an attorney whose groundbreaking cases secured the rights of Witches, and she's the most widely published, internationally best-selling Wiccan author in the world. She's the creator of the Witches Wisdom Tarot, and the online course Awaken the Witch Within, and her new book Spells for Living Well, A Witch's Guide to Manifesting Change, Wellbeing and Wonder. The recipient of numerous honors, Phyllis was inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. Collegium of Clergy and is a Trustee and Program Chair of the Parliament of the World's Religions. In this episode we dive into spellcasting as a spiritual, energetic healing practice, exploring the importance of spellcasting as a way of working with the spirits of the nature, as a powerful witch. We how to cast powerful spells, and the art of that - how to get it “right” - and, how to invoke the energetic of the Phosphoric Witch's fire element in spells, with deep reverence, so you can become the magical one, or even healer, you came here to be. What You'll Learn from this Episode: Spells are a spiritual practice - they are a way of working with the spirits of the elements and nature, which is very different to your average use of a spell, but each of the elements are their own independent, natural, organic forces with a spiritual wisdom. That's what we are working with to create magic - and you can have conversations with them. Fire is an agency of change - and it can destroy if you don't have the right reverence and relationship with it; use it well and you'll create magic that changes the world, use it with a negative intention and it will be destructive. This is the gift for our Phosphoric women, when they harness their fire from love, they create magic. Witches are healers - and in order to heal, we must be wounded - there's a deep gold to be found in those wounds; and, by working with spellcasting, we learn to heal ourselves, via alchemy It's not so much about the words we use in spells, as much as the deeper energetic place they come from and the emotion that charges them. You are the creator of the spell, but you are also the spell itself; and when you wake up to that, that's the empowerment. Spells are also a way of embodying your intention, rather than just a way to set intentions. In casting a spell, you are opening yourself up to the divine - to spirit - but you also have to take action on the spell, otherwise nothing will manifest. Cherise Williams is a tarot card reader, paranormal investigator, and witchcraft practitioner. She's been studying and practicing witchcraft for almost 20 years, and she's been reading cards for even longer. Today she explains what witchcraft actually is, and it's not what you think. She also explains how she uses witchcraft, tarot, and intuition to help lead paranormal investigations. Traditional paranormal investigations relied solely on science based practices. Cherise had the idea that if you were hoping to connect with spirit, maybe you should use spiritual practices too. She even wrote a book about how she incorporates the spiritual with the science during her ghost hunting adventures. You won't want to miss her amazing stories of the paranormal. Today we talk with our friend Amy Blackthorn about their latest book Blackthorn's Protection Magic: A Witch's Guide to Mental and Physical Self-Defense From Amy's Bio on Amazon.com: "I began my study of the magic of plants as an inquisitive child roaming the jungles of my overgrown childhood yard, making forts for pirate treasure, mad scientist laboratories to hybridize the mint and azaleas to do my bidding and more. This grew into a love of horticulture and magic, and as an adult, I found a way to blend them both into a single life's work, helping people find the magic around them in the every day botanicals they carried in their pockets, in the bottles of essential oils that many people are already using." Amy has appeared on HuffPost Live, Yahoo News, the Associated Press and Top Ten Secrets and Mysteries (Episode "Supernatural Abilities"), and many other print interviews since discovering my passion over twenty-eight years ago. On this episode of Don’t Turn Around, Cherise Williams is back to tell us about her new book The Witch’s Guide toRead More
Magickal ink is a special medium used to convey magical words of power. Together with your quill pen and parchment paper, you have the ingredients for 'traditional' spell creation. Since the last century, magical inks, quill feather or dip pens and parchment have become part of the traditions of modern witchcraft and spell making. JD Walker, the author of A Witch's Guide to Wildcraft-Using Common Plants To Create Uncommon Magick talks about magical ink in the book, and it made me want to find out more. In this episode, JD gives us a crash course about magickal ink, what it is, what it's used for, some basics on how to make it and a whole lot more. JD makes her inks in an iron cauldron, and after hearing about how to make your own ink, I wouldn't be surprised if you started to heat up your cauldrons as well.

She is the owner of Goðan Daginn, an agro-educational Icelandic farm where she teaches wood, leather, fiber, and metal crafts as the Icelanders practiced them. You don't need a lush garden to begin wildcrafting―you can find plenty of magickal herbs growing just outside your door. A Witch's Guide to Wildcraft explores more than thirty common plants, providing tips for identification, gathering, and cultivation as well as specific rituals and magickal uses. You will also discover step-by-step instructions for dozens of hearth-and-home herb projects, including cleansers, powders, incense, talismans, sprays, jam, and more. The plants in this book are all native to North America and will lend sacred energy to spells and magical workings. Filled with history and lore, astrological correspondences, common and Latin names, and hands-on projects, this book helps you develop a closer relationship with our enchanted world and with your own spiritual self.
